View Full Version : CARD GAME (or Tetra Master)!
I repeat this all the time (even for FF14), but is there any way to incorporate a fun card game into FF11 (even if it's just copying tetra master).
It would be fun to duel NPC/Players, Kill monsters, Take pictures & Win chocobo races to obtain new cards for use.
Please consider!
Although I deeply agree...
PS2 Limitations.
You can expect this on anything that's not a small-scale implementation.
Until SE finally realizes how much life they could breathe into this game by dropping the PS2, not happening, sadly.

Agreed :/ so many possibilites.
Yuck
You seem to dislike anything that is good :/. New mini-games and enhancements to current ones would be fun.
Then we must make them drop the PS2 and update the interface (now to make all regions agree)...
Oh, and convince SE the development cost is totally worth the time/money.

which is what i think most get angry about is the fact they say "PS2 limitations" when yes its their mother system but have never shown a report of how many actually currently use it...least to my knowledge granted i know people still do use it (mostly JP friends) until then "Ps2 limitations" :( but yes a card game like in FF8 or FF9 would be kind of fun again.

Umm, they HAD Tetra Master as a separate POL game, and just got rid of it.

They should have just made Tetra Master free instead of killing it. :[

A Tetra Master mini-game certainly would be enjoyable--akin to the gambling game you can find in like Lower Jeuno and Southern San d'Oria and places. :)

Did they actually do away with Tetra Master? I never even noticed if so. Now had it been Triple Triad... <3

Oh god I love Triple Triad! I used to spend way more time than was healthy playing that in FFVIII.
Yes, i meant in the game. I figured why get rid of what they already have. They could expand upon it without wasted effort (provided lolPS2 limitations etc).
Ya Triple Triad was great too. I, personally, enjoyed Tetra more since it was an upgraded version of it + your cards level up (which is awesome). I still have Triple Triad card-game IRL laying around somewhere.

I think the game needs more mini-games in general that can be made relevant :(. I liked Pankration and all that but sometimes I feel guilty doing it, like I am wasting my time or something.

I guess it would have been played more if it was ingame actually. I'd love not having to logout to play, chatting with my LS, seeking for a party (that could have happanes years ago, like before level sync was introduced and you waited like 8+ hours for a pt depending on job and level), watching shouts in port jeuno or waiting for the next windsday/-weather to continue your trial.
Instead of logging out and in somewhere complete different.
I think it would be used this way.
Just to contribute to that quote,
I still think the PS2limitation-Problem is true so I cannot really hope for it

I enjoyed TetraMaster, but the need to log out to play it limited its playability as a sidegame to FFXI.
It's unfortunate that it was shut down, but not surprising. Without people playing it - and more importantly paying for it - the TetraMaster server was just a drain on SE's financial resources that could no longer justify its existence.

Yes, they announced its impending demise, along with the end of POL PLUS services, back in fall 2010, with some three months notice. They actually shut down TetraMaster (and POL PLUS) as of January 1, 2011.

Even though I never saw a lot of people on, Tetra Master was a really good on-the-side game. I played a lot and felt kinda sad to have it removed from PlayOnline.

Someone can explain to me how adding a card game ingame has a relation with ps2 limitation ?
Something like storage in ps2 hdd?

i love Tetra master ; ; Damn Troll ps2 players!!!! :P
I wonder if SE could just make FF11 compatible(and optimized) with the Ps3 without much hassle.
Bump! (come on SE, find a way!)

The problem that I had with Tetra Master is it was not playable within Final Fantasy XI. If I could have played Tetra Master while seeking party, I would have played it a LOT more than I did.
Anyone know if any indie developers have recreated Triple Triad or Tetra Master?
