Server mergers

about a week ago i bought FFxi my friend plays on the Ragnarok server which is where i want to start.
but apparently Caitsith is being merge into Ragnarok and both servers are locked for character creation.
i understand the merger was delayed because of everything that has happen'd in japan but this is taking a very long time and my free trial is running out :/
anyone know of a estimated time of when the ragnarok server will be up

As a workaround for the world merge lockout problem, I suggest that SE lets people who wants to move to the locked worlds get a free character move to the worlds in question.

Characters created during the lockout period could get one free move instantly after the merging is complete, as long as they did it within one month of the merger, and as long as it was a move to one of the worlds that were recently merged.

What do you think about that, SE?

Ya this server lock-out on new accounts is irritating. My dad wants to start playing again, and I'm on Siren so now he has to wait who knows how long until the merge. Cmon SE. You guys don't even have a date set for this merge so at least let people create new accounts in the meantime. My Dad already spent his money to buy the game back when the merge was supposed to happen in mid-March. At a time like this when your player base is decreasing it's just not good business to keep new or returning players from playing.

While we’re very sorry to hear of the trouble you are having, unfortunately there is not anything that can be done. As we prepare for the World Merge, several steps must be taken, including the suspension of character creation on the Source and Destination Worlds.

We can only suggest that you and your friend create characters on a World that has not been affected, and enjoy the game until the time that the World Merge is complete. You can then either have your friend create a new character on your preferred server, or you can transfer those existing characters through use of the World Transfer Service.

I think this first server transfer should be free of charge for those wanting to create a character on the affected worlds, but that's just me being reasonable considering how long the wait has been for those people. I think there are a few players who might have given up on starting playing because of that

any Plans to address lag issues and game freeze due to how populated the servers are? for example I'm on Ragnarok now and I'm getting alot of lag due to how populated it is, I'm also playing on the 360 with a dsl.
