returning player to ffxi

hi,
I want to return to playing FFXI and only have the old version discs which I have used to re install on my pc. Is there a download to upgrade the game as when I try to start game using pol shortcut it says:- error code = 20008003 cannot run under current operating system. Any help appreciated.

You'll want to check here (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/vista01.html) for the newer PlayOnline Viewer for Vista/7/8. That should allow you to run the disk installs and go through the tedious update process. However, you can skip all that by visiting here. (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/install_win.html) The Welcome Back campaign is beginning soon, and as such, they let you download the game in it's entirety, though you'll still need content IDs from a purchased expansion to access it beyond the free week.
