Trouble installing FFXI on windows 7

I'm having troubles installing FFXI onto my PC. I installed POL fine and I installed FFXI but when I try to open FFXI or the config it says "Final Fantasy XI config or Final Fantasy XI had stopped working" then closes and gives me the details

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Trying to remember because it was a while ago that I had to reinstall the game due to a virus on my pc.

I have Windows 7 and I'm pretty sure I had to use the Vista instructions on POL for the game.

did u go online and down load the windows 7 version of pol the one on there disk doesnt work for windows 7

Ya I downloaded the POL viewer off of the POL site. I read a couple of other forums and they said to just download POL and install FFXI from the discs then do the updates and it should work hopefully after the updates are installed. So I'm hoping that works.
