The only chance to get into an Ark Angel II group is having a Ranger?

Whenever i see a shout they ask for Ranger as DD. Is it the only acceptable job for these fights?

Nope. But any other DD generally has to /NIN.

Before all the RNG benefits were realised, they generally consisted of WHM BRD PLD and 3xDD/NIN (or a NIN/WAR). THF is perfectly acceptable (providing it's well-geared, and preferably with Mandau or Mythic), and the TH helps the drops, too (apparently).

Most pick up groups will stick with the ranger setup though.
Ranger setup pretty much boils down to a "guaranteed" win, as long as the tank and support don't suck.

You're best off doing the "unconventional" setups with friends.

I admit I ended up leveling whm to get into some of these. Though I have been in pick up groups that were more flexible, including shouting for my own, leveling whm got me in a lot more often.
