Chatoyant Staff, it was awesome, right? Am I right? Everybody loved them some Chatoyant Staff when it came out, great idea, even though it's mostly useless now, why can't we apply this same success to a number of other things? This would save many many players some space.

Scintillant Gorget: All the sea WS gorgets rolled into one, perhaps with an additional +3 to all stats on top of it.

Scintillant Obi: All the elemental Obis from sea rolled into one, Conserve MP +10

Scintillant Belt: All the abyssea WS belts rolled into one, Conserve TP +10.

Scintillant Sachet: 99 Ammo, All stats +2, all elemental resistances +10, occasionally absorbs elemental damage taken.

Many people still use MANY ws gorgets/belts, obis, and sachets, why not combine them so we can have a teensy bit more room at the end of the day?

Also a plug for my other thread that may help inventories here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/43698-Potential-Inventory-Solution

All this time has passed and there has been no official comment on it, so I posted this.

I really wish they'd do this, it'd save a lot of room and there's little reason not to.

my self and other have started treads about this before (a while back, like shortly after the staff came out). But totally liking this one to show there is still interest in this!

Ah thanks, sorry that I didn't give credit where it was due, but I wasn't aware of other such threads but, it seems like an obvious enough idea right? And it would be wonderful, I can't fathom why they wouldn't do it.

They already said no... sorry. I agree with the OP - these would be great.

Greetings,

While keeping game balance in mind, we do not have any plans to introduce items that combine elemental gorgets, belts, grips, etc. By separating them by element, we were able to give them very powerful effects, and the team would like you to switch out your equipment if you wish to receive effects from different elements.

God... I missed that thread, that response is rediculous.

These would only equate to inventory +7 per combine, Camate can tell "the team" we already do switch out our equipment to receive all the effects, but there's 0 game balance reason we should need to.

Don't pretend that by separating them by element that gives you the ability to make them more powerful, not only would game balance not come crashing down, it would have a minimal effect on it, if any.

In a game in which gearswapping weren't the expected norm and the system prohibited you from doing so, that justification would be fine. But not in XI, not remotely.

Also liking this thread in the hopes they change their mind.

Agreed. Would like to see them change their mind too. It's a nonsense response, frankly.

But mages are not allowed to be op. >.<

This wouldn't make anyone OP, would save melees slightly more room than mages, as they'd be combining Gorgets and Belts, Mages would only get belts, sachets are universal but, melees are slightly more likely to equip them I'd think on average.

The only things that could be considered OP when merging is things that would wipe your TP when switching (I think sachets might do that, but I'm not sure ^^;). I can see them not wanting to combine those for that reason (The other things should be able to be combinable though). However, if we take a look at the C. Staff, they took off a lot of the extra enhancements (like damage down, etc...), so if these are combined, I could see the effects becoming slightly weaker.

1.) Ammo slot swapping doesn't remove TP.

2.) They made the Chatoyant staff STRONGER than any of it's predecessors for it's primary purpose (nuking) with the added effect of iridescence. Even on the ice staff which had the best stats specifically for nuking that were lost, the iridescence outweighs it by far.

Yes, people still keep earth staffs around for the PDT, and before new stuff came out fire staffs around for the Rattk, but that was it.

These are still originally Lv75cap items we're talking about, if anything, when combining, it they should make the new item slightly stronger, heck, or even notably stronger, as they did with Chatoyant, but I'd settle for simply a combine, for inventory+7.
