Is there a toggle or something so I can get rid of the pop-up maps?

The maps are a great idea for new players and players who haven't worked out where the home-points are. But I don't need the maps, and when I go to nexus via the home-points, the screen shudders and this big wobbly map pops up. It gives me the fear, lol.

I might have missed something where I can toggle the maps on and off. If there is no such toggle, would it please be possible to have one.

/hpmap off

etc.

If you don't have a map of the zone, a bunch of error messages pop up stating that you don't have a map of the zone. Would be nice to get rid of those at least.

I actually think the HP map is a great idea by SE, it helps new players etc. Its just that I really don't need the map pop-up because I know the areas and have learned where the home points are. Also the (A) (M) (E) home point notes are enough to remind me where the home points are in towns. So for my personal gaming, I would really like to /disable the whole pop-up map function.

It actually made me warp to the wrong place twice, the pop-up startled me and made my hand slip onto the wrong area lol.

I really like the HP nexus warping system, it is one of the best things SE have added in recent years, movement speed being the other main one.

I was just enjoying the HP warping system a lot more before the maps started pouncing out at me. I'm quite a jumpy jittery person at times, and the map just leaps out at me and makes me flinch lol.

I noticed that today too! It was rather jarring.

Maybe it's just my computer, but if you warp quickly enough, the maps won't even pop up. Gotta sit on a warp location for 2-3 seconds before it loads up. That seems to be good enough IMO, unless not everyone's takes that long to load.

HP map isn't a bad idea but a toggle would really be the best of both worlds.

The maps take some time to appear. If you make your selection quickly, they won't pop up. There is no toggle option, but personally I feel it is a wonderful feature to be able to see where I'm going before I go there- It's hard to remember every single location. I'm actually suprised anyone finds this "annoying".

Well like I said, I know where I'm going so I don't need pop ups. The map lurches and sways around on the screen when you are scrolling down to the HP you want to warp to. I liked it better when I clicked on the HP, and just saw the area I am standing in, and my character and the scenery. I don't need the screen to be filled-up with a big map that lurches and sways around like that.

The whole point of adding new features is to improve the gaming experience for all players. And my point was that I was really enjoying HP nexus warping a lot more before this new pop-up feature was added, so for me it is not an improvement, unless there is an on/off toggle added.

I really like this feature. I'm constantly forgetting where the home point is in zones where there are multiple home points. So I'd be fine with it if they made it so you can turn it off for yourself, but I don't want the whole feature stricken.

The map lurches and sways around on the screen when you are scrolling down to the HP you want to warp to. I was just saying that pop-ups which fill the screen, lurch and sway around, are not really enhancing my game at all.I'm not sure why this is so "annoying" (and as I said, you can prevent it from occurring by making your selection quickly, which you should be able to do if you "always know where you're going"). If the transitions are what bother you, then perhaps they can remove them and make it all pop instantly- I certainly wouldn't mind that. I don't think this feature should be removed nor a toggle added, unless its extremely bottom of the barrel priority such not to affect anything else. It enhances my gameplay and pretty much everybody's, probably- especially, as previously mentioned, when there are multiple locations in the same area to warp to.

That said you're really over dramatizing the whole "big wobbly lurching pop up maps" thing. If it wasn't that way, I'd have expect someone to post and complain how sudden and jerky the transitions would be if they were instant with no transition animation.

I was shocked at first too lol but I actually like it, it doesn't pop up unless you hover over the name for a few seconds so you should be able to pick your destination quickly.

I gotta agree an on/off toggle for Home Point Popup-Maps would be nice to have.

Well, aside from you basically accusing me of lying, for saying that I hit the wrong HP when the map leapt out on me, which is actually true by the way. You do seem angry and taking it personally that other people (in this thread and in game) would like the toggle option on the pop-up maps. I'm not a liar but I do have cerebral palsy, and am a nervous person. I don't like the screen flashing on like that and veering around, it makes me jump lol. But other people I have spoken to ingame also would like the on/off toggle, it isn't just me.

You say you don't think we should have a toggle. There are more important things, etc. But you miss the point, which is that I preferred the HP nexus warps before the map update, so I think they can add a killswitch which disables that update feature for people who find it tiresome. And alarming!

I hope you have a very lovely happy day, all day long. *hugs*

It's why we have a toggle for geo spells. For some people it made them want to ralph all over their keyboards. The maps might not affect you or seem to be jumpy, but for some others it is. I haven't been in game since this was put in but I'm sure I would hate this if I had to HP warp to somewhere soon after using warp. Only because I play on the Xbox and if I don't quickly select and commit to where I'm wanting to HP warp to I'll have a map on screen that I can't do anything about while the wonderful screen pause happens. Which is already annoying in it's self.

I really think the homepoint pop-up map is a wonderful feature that SE added, it is a really great idea - for new players or for people who can't remember where the HPs are.

But I would hate it if Selele the Tutorial NPC constantly popped up and filled my screen and gave me the "new player" dialogues on how to use a WS and how to eat food (helpful and useful stuff for new players), I don't need to be reminded of basics all the time and I feel the same about the pop-up maps, they are not relevant to me but I am seeing them all the time lol.

I, too, would opt out of this feature were it possible.

It's not exactly irritating me nor making me feel unwell, but I think it is slightly annoying for a reason I'm unsure of. I don't need it, and there is something about it that I just don't like. I really can't quite tell yet what it is.

Something I can say is that it seems to lock me out from adjusting the camera during the selection screen (not while viewing the map). A shocking problem, right (no, not really). I have more than once tried to move the camera there, but couldn't, and it felt odd!

So yeah, an option to disable this feature would be welcome. I do think it is a nice feature regardless, but I personally would choose a path without it.

I was a bit impressed that they'd pull something like that off, similar to the map marks for home-points etc. which all makes me simply question why not years ago. Well, times change, and I'm about to digress, so blubb!

They did turn it down, but some people still wanted to vomit so they made them be effected by the other people's effects on/off in the configuration menu. I only know this because when I finally got a delv v1 clear semi recently we had a geomancer with us and they had plopped down a bubble on our one wipe on the two people dealing with the raptor. I also don't see the bubbles of others when their outside of towns skilling up. Or I could be totally wrong and imagining things. *shrugs*

Bumping, because the pop-up maps are still annoying me, and my character is still way more interesting to look at than big bouncy maps.

Count Bumpula, and Doctor Bumpenstein! Help me Obi-Wan Bumpobi, you're my only hope!

Etc.

Yes the expansion storyline is about an innocent traveler who sees a glowing HomePoint crystal, shining peacefully and serenely in the Vanadiel twilight. How tranquil and celestial this HomePoint crystal looks, thinks the traveler. She hopes it will provide her with a stress-free journey to her destination!

The gentle and kind-hearted traveler approaches the peaceful-looking Homepoint crystal, unaware that it contains a giant pulsating demon map creature, which suddenly leaps out and pounces on her, like a starving panther!

"I'll just use teleports and chocobos in future, " thinks the traveler.
