I am one of those users who need to use the security token to login every time, it is very troublesome to request a token code to login every hour or so. My token is not always with me. Please have an option to allow user stay login even the browser is closed.
It is very troublesome as well to use the forum on a mobile phone if I need to use the token every time to make a post, I don't carry my token with me when I go out.
thank you for your time.

fully agree,
I keep forgetting and close my browser and have to log back in and even though it's secure it's annoying lol makes me regret buying the thing

subscribed! Hate having to relog every now and then. I just want to open the forum and start reading/posting.
Agreed a thousand fold. I did not even close my browser, I just went to a few different sites and was logged out.
I love the idea of using our Square-Enix accounts to log in but not remaining logged in on the same machine makes the forums nearly unusable.

I would like to see changes to this feature as well. I realize that the automatic log out may be for added security (for example, you log in from a local cafe and forget to log out, or use a shared PC with others who may be able to access your forum account), but there is an easy solution for this.
Solution: In our settings panel, allow us to adjust (extend or turn off) the idle time between automatic forum log outs, additionally adding an option to save these settings for current IP address only (so if you log in from a local cafe but forget to log out, the saved IP will not match with the current, and thus auto log out will occur at forums default time).

Agreed. I dropped gf off at work, came home to find I was logged out for no reason.

I just had to relogin again so that I could make a response post. Please allow us to adjust the idle time.
I love the token, but the added security for the official forums is specifically annoying, at least with FFXI once I'm logged in, the session lasts as long as I want until I get disconnected.
With forums, the auto-logout feature should be a disableable one, i.e.:
(similar to the config settings (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, Off) for auto-logoff in-game)
Yes, please.
I didn't realize the auto log-off was so soon. I was just reading a long post with its responses, and when I hit reply, I was already logged out and needed to pull out the good ol' security token again. I'm sure a few of us are the only ones who touch our computers/laptops/etc., I usually try to stay logged into any site I can FOREVERRR.

There is no logical reason to require the use of the security token for a forum, having it tied to the access is a huge PITA and there should be a method in the user's profile to totally disable it and allow us to stay permanently logged on.

Count me among those who feel the pain of this issue.

I would like to not have to log in to the forum manually each time as well.

I agree. The forums are really nice but having to keep logging in over and over is starting to wear me out. Also, I don't really understand why there are multiple forums for each game. Surely one forum with subsections for FFXI and FFXIV would suffice? Again, it's a little irritating having to register for each forum and doesn't really make much sense. Other than that everything seems pretty good. I guess you can't really go too wrong with a forum.

The auto-logoff feature needs to be curtailed. An intelligent, well written, and well thought-out response to a post requires more time than we seem to be given. If you want a forum full of "me too" and "lol", by all means leave this restriction in place.

Update: Apparently it's been fixed. I've had this page open all day on my home computer and came back to reply to something and completely expected to have to log back in... I was like AUUUUUGH I just spent 5mins writing an intelligent 2 page response NOOOOO.
Then it posted. With my name.
YAY! Good Job, SE. Nice Ninja fix XD

Seems like they already fixed this issue, as I didn't have to put in my info just now.
That was pretty fast SE, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the quick fix, Square. The forum is much more convenient to visit and browse + post now.

Don't know if this is new, or just a fluke... but I closed the browser and hibernated the laptop last night. Woke it up this morning and went to the forum--and I was STILL logged in, dind't have to give a token code again to post replies. Would be nice if it is in fact remembering me permanently now.

Yup, i brought my security token to work... on my keychain...thinking i'd need to keep putting the info in just to randomly log in between work duties...but keeping me up without having to keep putting the log in info in is AWESOME and keeps me involved throughout the day. Thx for the NINJA-fix SE Devs... you guys are makin' me one happy customer!!!

It looks like it may have just been a bug to begin with. I had logged in right after the forums opened, then closed my browser and was logged out.
Opened up the forums a few minutes ago and found I'm logged in again, even though I didn't retype my passwords. The cookies were probably created, but just were not loading right.
On that note, it might be a good idea if you logged in on a public terminal somewhere to check and make sure you logged out, just in case this was the case!

Yes, it seems to have been fixed for me too. I do think there should be an option to not be remembered, though, to avoid people accidentally staying logged in on shared computers. I don't know if you can change this setting now anyway, haven't checked :p.

Want to add my experiance to the many. I was mid-way through typing a post, hit submit but the forum had logged me out causing me to lose the whole post. Please fix this.

Vbulletin defaults to 10 minutes idle then logout by default. Believe SE noticed this and fixed it.
Now if only they would center the forums :(
