Beastmaster, dragoon, and puppetmaster
To give a rough overview of our plans for these three jobs, we’re planning to boost the combined damage over time capability of the master and pet so that it is greater than that of your standard damage dealer as there are certain costs associated with maintaining pets.

As such, the development team is looking into the following adjustments:

Implementation of higher-tier mochi
By adding new mochi, a pet’s attack and accuracy will be supplemented further.

Improvements to the power of special abilities
Just as we increased the damage value of pet’s special abilities in the January version update, we’ll be making further adjustments to this again as we move forward.

New “Call Beast” pets
We’re still in the midst of planning the addition of new pets, and as an example of a pet that can utilized for a comparatively lower cost, a Lucerewe-type sheep has been brought up as a possible candidate.

[/list]

The team has been assigning priority to the various job adjustment tasks at hand, so please stayed tuned for further details for each of these adjustments.

Can we hear more on what this means? Including whether you've reconsidered that dumb sheep pet and intend on increasing the power of automaton weaponskills. The August update was kind of dumb for them.

You know what.. the minute I posted this I realised I should have just bumped an earlier thread. Sorry.

Heh.. I guess with a new thread we can have an OP outlining the many problems that these jobs have.

General:
-Low Accuracy, Low Attack.
-No way to buff pets beyond wasting rolls.
-Hard to keep alive.

Puppetmaster:
-Terrible AI.
-Made of paper, thread, and galka sweat.
-What's the point of Valoredge.
-Rdm Stoneskin Priority
-WHM frame only good for solo.
-Black Mage frame is the worst.
-JA Delay out the bum.
- Mage Gear

Beastmaster:
-More Sheep than the welsh
-Level cap on pets
-Crappy 'Ready' Moves.

Dragoon:
-Not a pet job, needs the master to do more damage/have more damage augmenting abilties
-Shock Spikes. Seriously?

Gimme more and I'll update the OP.

Ideas:
Transfer some stats from Armour to pets.
Equippable Pet Armour.

The primary issue that are holding the pet jobs back is the pet's alarming lack of accuracy, even at Lv. 119.

Just doing a /checkparam <pet> right now, on my PLD Automaton. Attack is at 1022, which is acceptable. But it's Accuracy is at 775. I am not currently wearing any armor providing Pet: Accuracy or Pet: Attack, so the numbers provided are the automaton's native stats.

Does the Development Team not see how seriously low a number that Accuracy # I provided is? Our pets' native Accuracy (and Ranged Accuracy for puppets) MUST be raised. Period.

Now, if we were able to equip armor like, oh....Whirlpool Mask (Accuracy +25 & Attack +25 along with all the STR, DEX, AGI, etc.) onto our Automatons and it increased their stats in kind then I'd be all for that. But that's an idea for another time, I suppose. Would be GREAT though.

Yeah even with Shiromochi +1 my 119 pets can't crack 1000 acc... that doesn't cut it.

Mage Gear: Wow, this is the worst reason I've heard. Lore shouldn't overwrite simple sense. I'm not asking it to wear plate gear, much of the light dd gear is cloth. Having it on capes with +MAB and Occult Accumen is fucking ridiculous.
Valoredge: It has no native way to heal itself, and it does pitiful damage.
WHM Frame: I cannot speak to that, but I've noticed it be terrible in the past.
Terrible AI: Automatons often hold TP past 100%, will have horrible spell prioritization too. Cure 5 and Cure 6 only regardless of hp loss. No Cure IV. Not situation awareness at all. Weird prioritization.

Puppetmasters are there own worst enemy sometimes. It's cute, I get it, but it's a dumb broken job that needs more than a tube full of cauk to fix. Do you fix things with Cauk? I'm sure you do.

That scenario is so niche, though. On a 1 hour timer. The whm could just pop a curaga 4, they have enough mp and refresh now.

Then the mob immediately uses the same big aoe and your automaton dies.

If your automaton was standing close enough to a mob that has a big AoE move that can wipe people it wouldn't be alive, if it was too far away it wouldn't hit anyone. You could retrieve it, use it, re-engage it.. But it's a long process and WHM Curing enmity is so low now it's really not necessary. a good WHM would have a curaga enmity set. But I'll grant you, it is a use, however niche.

WHM auto is super duper for soloing stuff, or low-manning easy stuff. It's effectiveness in content beyond that is questionable. I'm not saying it has no use, I'm saying it should have more. By using that automaton you're.. well, you're supposed to be forgoing a good chunk of DD from your automaton, so it just really should have some more uses.
