Howdy all you lovely FFXI players. I first played back in 2004 when it released on PS2. I only owned a PS2 and xbox. No computer, no search engine, no wikis (was perty poor back then). It was quite the experience, i don't think many can even really imagine playing this game with no outside help. I played perty solid for over a year and i'm sure there were many things i was clueless on. Came back for a very short while on 360, then for a trial... anyway i'm back again and starting fresh.

This time i actually have a computer, lol. Question is about websites to use. It seems FFXIclopedia and FFXIAH are the 2 major ones yea? Is the clopedia regularly updated with all the latest information? With trusts, are exp parties now completely a thing of the past? Have been to Jueno and seems people still party but it's only for very specific things.

Anyway, if you see Jybwee running around Cerberus give a /wave :). I'll see you all at lvl 99 soon enough after i finally decide what job i want to focus on first.

You'll also want to go to BGWiki, which tends to have more things on recent content. In reality there is simply no centralized wiki anymore.

And EXP parties were dead long before Trust. People claim Abyssea killed them, but the true death knell was Ground of Valor. (I know, this was like 3-4 months after I started playing lol.)

I had a quick question about RoE too if ya don't mind me askin here. I quickly found out about it and have been getting shards like crazy, but what do i spend it on?

I saw one post about turning them in for weapons then selling weapons to npc. Was a 1:10 ratio, shards:gil. Worked very well to afford spells and starting whm then blm was break'n me :P. A friend on steam told me to start spending sparks on those chapters. To get a head start but If i'm correct.. this is for the lvl 75 gear, yea?. The guy also offers lvl 99 gear straight out... so...

Anyway, what do you think the best use of these sparks are?
