I achieved Rank 6 on July 4 and since then I have harvested 144 Revival Tree Root's and still can't get Rank 7. So I am wondering how the Furrow rank up works, Is it one credit per day or as many as you can get, 144+ seems a tad excessive.
Any help/clarification would be great :(

I don't think these ranks are supposed to be achieved overnight. It took me just under 2 weeks of harvesting revival roots whenever I could (not sure how many harvests I did per day, but I only recently hit Rank 7). I believe it has something to do with the titles you get, and I think the titles are based on how many items you harvest (it could also be based on how many times you harvest, but I do not have a definitive answer).
There's an NPC in Western Adoulin named Debadle-Levadle (Courier waypoint, standing somewhere around in the center fountain very close to the waypoint). You can check to see which titles you have unlocked. They are separated by the amount of gil, with the higher amounts (the highest I've seen/achieved is 600 gil titles, which are what I needed to get the Rank 7). I believe for furrow, you need Agrarian Virtuoso. If all you've been doing is harvesting, check your current title in the profile screen, or simply check the titles you have through the title NPC. You do not need to change to the title if you have unlocked it already, but you might need to change your title to something else after you've unlocked virtuoso. I got Virtuoso, couldn't upgrade, so I went to clear Dynamis Windurst, got the title, and was able to upgrade the same day.
It might be possible that you also need the Mining and Grove titles, too. I believe the 600 gil ranks are Adamanttock, and Jungle Praetor.
EDIT: I'm assuming you have the Mithra and Qiqirn helpers. I set the Mithra to seeds when I was down to my last few roots (and harvest a lot of crops otherwise), and the Qiqirn was usually set to harvest a lot of crops, or sometimes harvest something good. Revival roots don't yield too many items based on my experience, so if it's item-based, it would take a long time to get the title.
But yeah, see where you stand with the title npc, if you have Virtuoso, but not the Mining and Forest ones, you may need to get those. If you don't have Virtuoso, keep trying until you get it (may need to zone from garden to see if title updated, but may not). If your current title is virtuoso, try changing it to something else at the npc. If that doesn't work, try doing something that changes your title (like buying certain gear from your nation). If none of that works, then the only advice is to keep plugging at it. I have not seen any guides that have exact information on how to rank up, but it will happen.

The only thing you can do is keep doing it, plant more revival roots whenever you have the time.

Found this tonight from a dev post:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/37506-Rank-5-Mog-Garden-MINIMUM-126-interactions-a-day-882-a-week-needed-for-assistants%21?p=473041&viewfull=1#post473041
I'd like to discuss a bit about the rank-up speed for the garden furrow in your Mog Gardens.
To start off, the requirements to rank up your garden furrow is based on the number of times you harvest. If you plant seeds that can be harvested multiple times, the number of times you harvest will be counted. For example, if you have a single seed you can harvest from four times, every time you harvest it will be counted as one, and when you are done it will count as a total of four. With that said, if you want to rank up faster, please try using seeds that take less time until you can harvest.
So looks like number of times u harvest and not number of items. So maybe that item that halves the harvest time for revivals will win out.

Thanks for the reply people! I checked my KI's and I have had the Rank 7 Items in my Mog Garden before I have the last Titles. Not sure if that means anything but from what iv read its a case of just continue to harvest as much as possible! Many Thanks again :D
