long story short, a friend of mine got me FF11 so we can play. but after making it through the long installing process. we come to find that the server i need to use is no where to be found.
what happen to the pheonix server?

did your friend give you a Gold World Pass? I know that, since phoenix is subject for world merger, they might not allow you to create a character in that world. however, i do not know if they blocked people out that have a Gold World Pass for phoenix. Might wanna try out that option

Any idea when the world merge will be complete? I am in a similar situation. My friend reactivated her account just to find out she can't play on my server.

The world merge was schedule to be preformed and completed on March 12th if i remember correctly, but has moved to Mid-may when the next major update is supposed to happen.

mid-may? thats pretty fuckin cool. bought ffxi 2 weeks ago and have been waiting ever since because i cant create on ragnarok and now my free trial is going to run up befor i have a chance to play ;_;

Seriously SE? My friend just got through talking to chat support and wasn't able to get her character recovered that she deleted just to change the look (only made it to 20whm), and you couldnt issue a refund or cancel the upcoming bill until it goes through. Not even an estimated time for merge to be complete. Re-enable character creation until you have a date set. You are locking out new players/customers. I have other friends that would like to join too, but I have to tell them to wait. They probably aren't going to wait and just move on to a different MMO.

EDIT/addition: just to be clear, we totally understand that this isnt that person's fault. The person she talked to was polite despite us getting impatient.
Doesn't change the fact that something needs to be done. Either complete the server merge soon, re-enable character creation, or keep turning away customers.

at the very least, allow free transfer for all new chars, once the merger is open. That way ppl can create on a different world and level up for a while then move to friend's servers once transfer is re-opened.
