I know I'm committing forum suicide by posting this as it's going to get trod to death, but I'm doing it anyway. What else is there to do at 3 am?
As grossly unpopular as the idea may seem, can we please add one final craft to the repertoire of crafting? Artificer.
Essentially I'd really like a crafting class that can augment non-r/e/a, auctionable equipment but with specific, non-random augments. It would therefore remove that item from circulation but if we could do it like FFXIV does Meld requests, it would be safe for both parties. Your skill in it would obviously dictate the numeric range and HQ synths would maximize that value.
So for instance all the garbage that people consistantly throw away when adventuring, from testimonies to quest gems and garrison items, there's a whole field of opportunity where, as a player, I could go and have my gear augmented exactly the way that I want it. We already know that evoliths failed terribly, and tab-NMs failed terribly, and everyone hates random augments from abyssea and skirmish. But from this we also know that all those augments are already coded into the game, so a craft that could utilize that code AND make the most of any given player's inventory would be very appealing and only require recipe support.
Please consider this! While climbing the gear ladder, it would be nice if I could for example guarantee every piece had MAB on it, or accuracy, or whatever other stat. If one-quest-use items or nearly-useless items found a function again, all the better. I would be more apt to hang onto stuff in a chain of enemies if I knew I'd have an easier time getting where I wanted to be gear-wise, and leveling the craft wouldn't be god-awful as people would be making requests of you. This also supports linkshells and community inadvertantly without employing cumbersome treks to get specific materials.
