Hey
I recently reactivated my old character (69 PLD, 65 WAR, 49 DNC) and I've found that I really don't know how to level.
Last time I played leveling consisted of GoV in Bostaunieux Oubliette, but that place seems empty now. I've tried searching for 'guides' but the stuff I find is from 2012/early 2013.
Anyone have any hints/ideas of how to level to 99, or if it's even possible anymore?

Hope someone can help me, thanks! (:

First of all wb :)
I've recently picked the game up again for the 20th time, the easiest way i have found to lvl was to unlock some trust npc's (kupipi, Valaineral and Prishe are the ones i use, basically tank, DD and healer).
lvl 45...Garlaige citadel perhaps or crawler's nest
Think as a lvl 65~69 you could fight T's or VT in the boyahda tree and the chains in combination with the GoV pages and maybe an exp band are quick exp, maybe get 2 DD and 1 healing trust. round 75 Zeruhn mines is a valid option.
some helpfull links for you on trust :)

They've done some changes to campaign too, but havent tried them out but the exp there shouldnt be all that bad and if i read correct then you can now get skill ups in campaign.
I do have noticed to never see aby/book burn shouts anymore in jeuno, atleast not on my server.
Good luck exping and maybe some other people on this forum have some more tips that i dont know :D

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I got my 3 trusty Trust (harh harh) NPC's - using Trion as Tank (doing a surprisingly good job at that) and Ajido-Marujido and Ayame for DD.
Was in Bostaunieux Oubliette killing the leeches, but damn it took a while killing just a single one; I kinda need new weapons and gear too, but that's hard to come by as well, haha.
I was really hoping it would have been easier to get to 99, and then be able to do the story lines, and run around having a blast at being OPed and do all the old stuff I missed out on the first time around.

I'm a recently returning player as well. Another thing you should look into is Records of Eminence. There's a lot of objectives that reward plenty of exp. I've got to 75 pretty quickly from scratch. Also as far as GoV I tend to take pages where the mobs are DC or EP because it's faster kills which means faster pages. But that is your preference.

Also look for the Records of Eminence NPC, he sells weapons for Sparks which are easy enough to get so you can always have decent weapons.

Good Luck.

Lower lv is probably much faster to do coalition assignment. 1 run takes 1 min and less, you can ding 1 lv after every run. So you can ding 10 level in less than 10 min.

After lv 30 just leech in Abyssea as usual.

For skill up just use books from RoE.

Go to Abyssea Letheine or Misereaux, you can get to 99 in just a couple of days, gear up with sparks of eminence gear, then go back and spend a couple of days skilling up, There's no sense torturing yourself with the grind anymore.

I didn't think people did Abyssea anymore... I'll have to look into that - maybe during the weekend I'll have more luck?! :/

Divaud do you remember your leveling scheme from 1-75 ... I'm thinking about doing a class all over, but no idea where to start lol... Sorry for the newb question.

Hi!

Personally I like to take the middle road of GoV & FoV pages - not as fast as leeching in Abyssea, but more enjoyable, I learn my new job more and I skill up at the same time :-) I also don't like to join the 'Crawler's Nest Train' and just follow a pack and not really contributing....

Also because of my erratic online times and UK time zone I tend to solo most of my grinding (hooray for Trusts!) :-)

As I usually start a job in Sandy my route usually takes in:
East Ronfaure
La Theine Plateau
Valkurm Dunes
Korroloka Tunnel
Sea serpent grotto
Labyrinth of Onzozo
Oubliette
Boyahda Tree
Dominion Ops Abyssea Altepa (dolls) for melee jobs

That's just a basic idea - I'll often go explore a different area if one of my standard ones is feeling a little stale or is busy...other areas are available! :-)

Good luck

That looks like a start - just wondering since it looks like Ronfaure, La Theine and Valkrum Dunes are 1-10, 10-20 and 20-30 in that order doing books, I was wondering if that is the same case with the rest of them? (:

Oh yeah - sorry, I should have explained it a bit better :-) The order is in ascending level. Once I get to the stage where the page(s) I'm doing start to get 'Too Weak' mobs I move on to the next area. Some areas (Korroloka Tunnel for example) support a few successive pages...start with worms and bats (I think it is) then move to Leeches before moving on to Sea Serpent Grotto. I usually find a few favourite pages in each book that lend themselves to a quick turnaround as the mobs are plentiful and close together. If you find yourself running around looking for an elusive one or two you're probably better off trying a different page (or area!)

Labyrinth of Onzozo is a good example - I usually do Goblins and Leeches, then Scorpions and Cockatrices, then Mantas and Goblins, after which I move to a higher level area....

Hope this helps

I think it is around 45 or so you can reasonably start doing some pages in Gustav Tunnel. I liked doing that for a chance at the magic skill-up earring. Trying to farm for a specific casket item sucks, but if you happen to get one while xping in the area, it feels like a bonus.

Personally, I've also found that activating a RoE in an outside zone and ignoring FoV isn't a terrible way to xp. Not as much as GoV bonuses obviously, but getting an extra 600xp or so for every ten mobs can add up. No worries about whether you need them to finish a page, and if a too weak mob happens to be among them, you still get credit.

I like having both the Grounds of Valour page activated and the Records of Eminence, even if only for the occaisional prowesses. I don't focus too much on just doing pages though - I just plough through mobs.
