So I'm asking for information on how abbysea works for those that are level 30 that don't want to leech exp. Since the min lvl req is 30 I'm assuming there is a formal acticity to do there that doesn't include cheating the system. Just not sure how it works, are there areas or instances that are in the lvl 30range for full lvl parties?

if you don't want to leech EXP then there is nothing you can do in Abyssea till 70/75+

some say that just being a chest opener is "not leeching" some say other wise.

Damn... so SE openly supports people being carried to level cap without learning there job? I thought the leeching issue was a small type of exploit or whatever.... if this is the case then why allow access at level 30 in the first place? Well I guess my next question is what is required of me at level 30 to warrant me allowance into a party to leech?

-.-

Why do you assume you can only learn your job in exp parties? Most people don't anyways.

Certain quests can be undertaken in Abyssea zones at level 30. I think a lot of people forget that Abyssea isn't just a battlefield event and that there is stuff to do in there that isn't fighting. There are still bucketloads of NPCs in there I haven't even talked to yet.

I used to try and do the quest on a level 30 it worked out for me. As for leeching I think so many characters have been leveled this way it's kind of a non issue.

There is not much outside of a few quests (which at 30 you'd be risking a lot to accomplish.) You need a healthy supply of cruor, or really good friends, or maybe just paying someone off/forming your own group if you want to quick level there. It is not an exploit per se, just a really cheap way to cut out the slow leveling curve, and throw you straight into the game. Personally, if you take the time to learn the job after, and skill up your weapons, all more power to you.

If you been playing FFXI for 8 years you probably know how every job works because they aren't really complicated at all and most of the jobs epically the melee jobs are very similar. Engage mob > use some JAs that increase damage > WS when you have 100 TP.

Its laughable when someone says people need to learn their job when exping when this game has been out such a long time and if you did already play for 8 years like I said before you probably can pick up any job that is at the cap and know how to play it. FFXI lacks stuff like optimal DPS rotations and doesn't have too many abilities so it makes playing one melee class much like playing another.

I mean since Abyssea. What I mean is if this was going to be changed it should have happened awhile ago before so many characters were leeched. Also, for the record I have exactly two high level characters. The summoner was leveled to 90 before it stepped foot in abyssea. The white mage was level 69 and ended up in Abyssea because there were no other parties available. And even then the whm healed and buffed the whole time so I don't know if that is considered leeching.

They gave it a 30 cap to let lower level people explore them if they wanted to, I'm sure they had no idea people would grasp onto leeching as heavily as they did. Since they aren't changing the cap or nerfing XP <70 I'll assume they are fine with it though..no matter how much damage it does to the party system.

Hey look it's a troll thread. You're not leeching in my books if you're keying the chests. If min level was 70+ you'd never find someone to actually key the chests and they would be contributing as much to the party as a lvl 30 would. Alas, this topic has been beaten like a dead horse that has already been beaten to a pulp. Really, could we get over it?

So I read that there can be only a total of 3 leechers in a party/alliance? How does the leeching work? Just join the party and then just xp in abyssea? I know it use too be if a char was a lot higher than u in a party little to no xp was given. Just curious still trying to get the whole abyssea down.

There is no level difference penalties inside Abyssea. Leech is just join @ 30 then /follow someone or just stand there and take the EXP From the mobs peeps kill. People dont like this for the fact of "I'm doing all work but he isnt" jealousy. And cuse people for some reason think if you leech you dont learn your job, while true if you spend a day googling and clopediaing around, and then a week skilling up, you've pretty much learnt your job, there is nothing much more to it.

Some people pay to leech and they pay a lot, I remember when SMN Burn PT's were big and I used to burn people from 12 to 75 in 2 days and I made about 4m doing it per person. I made bucket loads but that was a lot less player demanding, im assuming Abyssea is now same and people are making millions of other peoples laziness. While some randomer is jealous.

If you dont want to be a hated leecher, you need to cruor to open the chests (think that is it, i havent done abyssea but read around).

Unfortunately new players will not have cruor and not be able to open any chests, nor have the connections or friends to help, so all new players unless they're lucky or just beg like a ho, wont get chance to leech until they're able to go in there and solo up some cruor then leech after.

That sux I don't have millions to pay ppl to leech. I've been in jeuno with my flag up since I've been back and haven't had any luck getting into a party. I'm 54dancer/ninja and there doesn't seem to be any normal parties so I don't know what I'm going to do lol. Maybe I'll get into a abyssea party today *Fingers crossed*

Actually, there are level difference penalties. Monsters that start out at ~100 exp for a level 75 will only be worth 1-5 for a level 30. However, lights the enemies drop, and the chain bonus, increase the exp floor per mob over time, so the minimum EXP you can get per mob slowly approaches the 600-something exp range before it caps out. If you join as a level 30, you get almost no exp at first except from chests, but the lights increase the minimum by 5-10 exp per light, so evenmtually you are getting the exp that everyone else is once you've been in the zone for a couple of hours.

Damn... so SE openly supports people being carried to level cap without learning there job?If you didn't learn anything between 1 and 30, then you're not going to learn the rest of the way up either. I've yet to meet someone who raised a job in abyssea who is as clueless as you and most people would suggest.

Yeah - 52 BST here. Honestly - you'll get more levels getting out there and soloing/duoing than standing around hoping for someone to let you leech for free. You're not the only one out there - so yeah - I suggest Altep - at least on Asura there is a lot of people in their 40s and 50s there. Sync up and get some exp - do books while you wait for an invite.

Ah right thanks or that, did not know how it worked exactly as I've never leeched XD

For those who are "stuck", try pet killing. This was a popular levelling method prior to cap increase and you can start at 20 all the way to 75+. And since EXP is doubled, it is much less "dragging".
