This has been mentioned in far more than one thread around here, but we never seem to get a dev response, (or if we have then I missed it), so it's time to give it a dedicated thread in hopes of getting some kind of action on this issue.
We need some way to be able to get through the gates in The Eldieme Necropolis like we have the banishing gates in Garliege Citadel, and the pressure plate thing in The Quicksand Caves. The Eldieme Necropolis isn't the packed zone that it once used to be, in fact most people only go there for coffer keys and coffers for their AF, you need to change the mechanics of the gates so one flick of any switch opens all the gates, remove the gates entirely, or put a switch on both sides of each gate so we can manually open them from either side, or maybe simply a quest that will let us look at the gate and say open sesame to get it to open, I don't know, but it is a little ridiculous the way it is right now.
My war is 99, I can kill anything in the zone, I have a coffer key that I've been saving forever, but I can't get to the coffer, because the way the gates work, you guys mentioned fixing the gates in Halvung so it won't take 5 or 6 people to open them, and I think it is way beyond time that you fix the gates in The Eldieme Necropolis.

They could storyline it to the Sandoria Cathedral, you do a mini-quest which gives you some holy power to command the doors to open with some sacred chant. I recently re-farmed my WAR af which I had tossed years ago (lol), farmed it again to get the reforged +1 set, and I had to get a LS friend to run down to Eldieme to open the stupid gates. He didn't mind helping, but I do mind having to inconvenience people who are busy playing high level 2014 content, to drop everything they're doing and run across the Downs just to press a switch for my ten year old mega-retro content.

I agree and have been wondering why SE didn't just add something when they added the mechanics to the other doors. But I do love when I actually have to quest for it. The one in Garliege Citadel made me a bit sad. It was simply go here, ant that was it. The ??? didn't even move. It feels like SE was just like "Here... now go away..."

SE has been moving away from quests and story for some time now. It's very disheartening to say the least.

After obtaining the key item, you’ll be able to open the door by yourself by targeting the door and interacting with it. :)

If you ever consider doing something to Halvung, please pass the adjustments onto Arrapago Reef and Mamook aswell - not everyone has an alliance with them 24/7 to navigate and open these areas.

Are there doors in Mamook that require multiple people to open? I've been in that zone for missions and thats about it. As for A. Reef, I know there are locked doors but the keys are farmable if you already uses your weekly free one.

This is definitely a welcome change. While I'm not complaining here at all, I can't help but wonder why this wasn't simply added back when the door KIs for Quicksand Caves and Garlaige Citadel were added (were these added at the same time?). It's not like the devs just forgot about Eldieme, right? It's like the Annoying Door Place of FFXI, after all. Either way, great to hear.

Either way, great to hear.They weren't the same time, I don't know when Quicksand was done but I know I remember the update when the Citadel happened and it was long after I did my Trial Swords for RDM which are the reason I did the Quicksand quest in the first place. In the end I hope they end up removing many of these kind of doors, such as Halvung and I believe the Movalpolos has this kind of thing as well.

You can easily go and get the key item though for the three mage door. Or you could always use the back door.
