View Full Version : Please Allow Partying with PCs AND Trust NPCs

First off, I am extremely pleased with Trust NPCs. Trust NPCs along with RoE have been some of the best and most fun casual-friendly content added.
With that being said, one feature the Trust NPC system is sorely missing is the ability to party with both PCs and Trust NPCs.
A couple possible methods could be:
1. Only the Party Leader can summon/control Trust NPCs with normal party dynamics (Max of 6 members either PC or Trust). This might be the easiest.
2. PCs can only alliance with other PCs while Trusts are present. For example 3 parties consiting of 1 PC + 1-3 Trusts.
I understand there may be technical difficulties in implementing this but any form of partying with PCs and Trust NPCs would be most welcomed! Many casual players may play with one to several regular friends. While more Trusts are always fun, it would be even better to share the experience instead of choosing between PCs or Trust NPCs.
Thanks for taking the time to read this :)
PLEASE. Yes. I support this wholeheartedly. Should not be penalized for playing with friends.

Alter egos have undergone the following adjustments.
Spaces have been deleted from NPC names so that alter egos naming conventions now coincide with those of PC ones, enabling them to be used in parties that include other PCs in the future.
From the patch notes. Is alter ego == trust NPC?

Yes, it is.
I read that too, and it is kind of laughable at this point. This is the third major version update since they first said that they would like to enable trusts in a regular party, and the only thing they've done about it so far is remove spaces in names. This means it'll be at least four months to implement it, if we're lucky enough to actually get it in the May update. I'm not holding my breath.

I saw the name change with Trust NPCs but missed the part about allowing them to be used with PCs in the future... o.o
Here's hoping that SE will let us party with Trusts and PCs! I'd be willing to trade half my Trust NPCs for partying with Trusts and PCs...

I really support this Idea. My twin Brother and I are both starting to making a return to XI thanks to Trust Magic (and Geomancer). If the ability to alliance with another player and still maintain the ability to use Alter Ego's would be great. It would allow cassual members to do things like Expaditionary Force or even some boss fights. My twin Brother and I plan on playing together and we both fully support this idea.

wow it only took them half a year
i want to say i'm impressed but i'm not really
good to know that it is actually going to happen though. After all this time, I had started thinking they were hoping for us to forget all about it so they wouldn't have to implement it

Seems like there's some restriction and posts about on calling alter egos in parties, could we get some translations?

I don't make a more elaborate translation because my english/japanese levels would make it way too slow as there are words I don't know in one language or the other, but you should get a good idea of what that was about.
Seems like there's some restriction and posts about on calling alter egos in parties, could we get some translations?
A) It's bout the "Calling Faith (Trust) in a party" from the other day.
They say that while in the future they want to make it possible for anyone in the party to call Trusts in the June version update only the leader will be able to call them while in a party.
(The 6 member limit for the party will still apply)
They are working on allowing anyone to call Trust, but it is restricted to the party leader for now because they found a problem with the system, and they would like to see how things go with this first.
The party leader will be able to call Trusts 120 seconds after they last invited someone into the party.
B) It's about some questions they received.
Q: How it will work if the party leader leaves and Trusts are out.
A: After a new party leader is selected the new leader can call Trusts back.
Q: About the new leader being able to call Trusts if there is a leader change.
A: Yes, the new leader will be able to call Trusts right away.
Q: About when or what will make Trusts will disappear
A: First if you are invited to a party and there are Trusts already out they will return.
In addition Trusts will return after a change has occurred in the party, like disbanding party, kicking a member out or Level Syncing.
And finally because of this it is recommended to first invite all the players and then fill the empty spots with Trusts. In order to ensure the party will run smoothly. (Also known as use your common sense dummy =P )

And that's about it.

Greetings,
As announced previously, we will be making it possible to summon alter egos while in parties with other players.
A feature where any party member can summon an alter ego to the party is currently in development for the future, but for the June version update it will only be possible for the party leader to summon an alter ego. (The maximum party size will still be 6 members and alter egos as well as adventuring fellows will count towards this number.)
After a party leader invites someone to the party, it will become possible to summon an alter ego once 120 seconds has passed. While we had planned on initially making it so anyone can summon alter egos to the party, there was a bug with this system and we’d like to monitor this feature in it limited state for a while.
Now then, for some question and answers for this feature…
What happens when the party leader changes?
If you transfer leader to another party member, the original party leader’s alter egos will all return.
Will the new leader be able to summon alter egos?
Yes, they can be summoned right away.
Are there any other times summoned alter egos will return?
Summoned alter egos will return if any of the following occurs:
You invite another player to the party.
You disband the party.
You remove a member.
You initiate level sync.
So does that mean we can’t summon alter egos while we are level synced?
Correct, it will not be possible to summon alter egos while you are level synced. However, this is something that we would like to do in the future and we will be looking into addressing this.
Will it be possible for the leader to summon an alter ego in the midst of battle?
Similar to when you are solo, if you have enmity towards any monster it will not be possible to summon alter egos.
Will anything be changed in regards to when an alter ego begins to participate in battle? For example, if the party leader is a back line job, will they have to run to the monster and melee attack them just to get the alter ego into the fight?
Just like when you are solo, the player who summons the alter ego will have to perform a regular attack on the monster for an alter ego to hop into the fight. With that said, it would be a wise decision to delegate this task to a front line job to make it easier.
If the leader dies, will the alter ego return?
Again, just like when you are solo, alter egos will return as soon as the leader is knocked out. Save for a couple of exceptions, alter egos will essentially function the same as they would if you were solo.
Please note, however, that these restrictions are in place for the June version update and there is a possibility that we change various aspects moving forward to improve Trust usability.

A bunch of new scenarios to complete the sets (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/42093-Scenarios-Missing-pieces-and-obtaining-more-than-one-set) and some news about XV would be a good start. :D

Hello Camate,
This alter-egos thing is great... However, there's another issue that needs to be addressed and if it belongs in another tag, please let me know. Message follows:
How about un-bottle-necking FFXI by making delve an open battlefield (and other battlefields) like WKR so more casual players can participate in them without being excluded. First off, I'm not going to pay 6,000,000 gil to a group of people I don't even know just so I can get a win for delve or AA. Then have every attempt at me forming my own group to be sabotaged by the same group of people selling those wins. These groups will join delve and AA groups in key positions intentionally, then purposely KO themselves, and tell everyone that its too difficult with the current group set-up and that their LINKSHELL is willing to sell wins for 6-10 million gil (negotiable). I am sick and tired of this. Please address this issue and make it fair for all of us to participate in these battlefields. Make this game enjoyable again for those of us with full-time careers so we can advance in this game too. We shouldn't be penalized by groups of people by not having enough time set aside to advance in a system that's totally gear based. Thank you.

I sure hope this is the case because as it is now, that's a ton of restrictions for a system that should be as seamless as possible. Partying with others in itself should be as seamless and organic as possible as well (maybe some kind of variation on the Reive mechanics except we're also auto-grouped together in a party/alliance when we start certain X event and then auto-disbanded once it's over?).
But, anyway, I don't want to be in the middle of fighting an NM, let's say, and someone else comes along and and wants to join with me. As it is now, I'm going to lose my Trusts and not be able to re-summon them. The whole point of partying with Trusts + PCs is that there's supposed to be no downside to inviting someone to your party should you happen to run into someone doing the same thing as you.

Does this include if someone DC's? Because that wouldn't be ideal....

I don't think we need this for delve or AA fights. I like WKRs the way they are now for the very reasons you just mentioned, but we already have adjustable difficulty settings for AA, and the ability to enter delve with six people now. I'm sorry if you're having issues with people sabotaging your runs, but I'm seeing even the most casual of linkshells on our server getting these clears. I've personally joined pickup groups for Morimar and Forret, and AA fights on normal or difficult (not VD) and been successful. Pickup groups are often more challenging, but I think until we have new end game content that's harder, Delve and AA provide enough of a challenge where you have to stay on your toes, but aren't so impossible that casual players can't clear them with some practice.

Yeah if she's having her runs sabotaged by 'that same group of people', then stop inviting 'that same group of people'! /Blacklist them, check which LS they are in and make sure that you always /check people that you invite, to make sure that they aren't in that LS.
P.S. if it's 6 mil for 1 of the 3 new zones, I'd take it. That's cheap! 15 mil on Phoenix

Is there a bug with Trust at the moment? Sometimes when I'm in a party and try to summon an NPC I get the message that I cant cast at this time. It isnt the same message you get where you can't cast in the area, like dynamis for example, its the message you get if you aren't party lead, even if you currently are.
It's happened to me a few times over the last couple of days and I`m just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

There are a few conditions that have to be met at the moment to call trusts:
120 seconds after entering a new zone;
120 seconds after inviting a new player;
No enmity towards any mobs (I assume that this is all party members, but it might just be leader).

Actually, I think 120 seconds after entering a new zone was a mistranslation or something. I'm able to summon Trusts right after zoning.

I solved this problem by not doing Delve. Why don't you try that and just do the hundred OTHER things there are in the game.
I solved this problem by not doing Delve. Why don't you try that and just do the hundred OTHER things there are in the game.
The problem is that, unlike in the past, where there was a lot of useful stuff obtained through all sorts of content everything in delve (with new delve armor etc) obseletes pretty much everything else. So the issue many players, especially those with less playtime encounter, is it really seems like a bloody waste of time to go through a lot of trouble to get gear that when you finally do get doing delve, will be completely utterly useless. The lack of "stats that matter" make it so these pieces aren't even useful in niche application or as macro gear. In the past you could use something that would later become macro gear while you worked towards stuff for your main (TP and WS) sets. Now, most gear becomes complete trash as soon as you get a delve slot.
Realistically would have been smarter to save the 12+ mill total I spent on my BST, THF and BLU JSE weapons and bought one of the new wins, most of which include all gear dropped during the run. Delve should have ALWAYS been "just another" event of many which dropped similar strength gear.
The developers of this game suck at progression and the community sucks at bridging people so there can be progression. Most content is dead on arrival because of this. It would have been better for JSE/skirmish (essentially all 119 gear) to be roughly equal but nooooo, SE doesn't know how to balance anything (or is uninterested in it) so most 119 gear is completely worthless. Heck my skirmish 119 sets actually have LOWER stats than some of the 117 bayld gear, even after spending millions of gil in stones on augmenting it. (It's completely stupid for me to use a +1 wailing stone and get ONLY -PDT 1% or something pathetic like that... NEEDS to be a floor for higher tier stone augments)
It's stupid.
