View Full Version : What is an ideal eva setup and a haste cap setup?

I don't post very often but, read these threads alot. Fist off i would like to know the best "consensus" thought on an eva setup that can still maximize damage output for duo/solo scenarios. Secondly I would ask the best way to achieve haste cap while attaining a DW/DA/TA as high a possible, again for duo/solo setups. I tend to duo/solo 90% of anything I do in abyssea. I have have done main tank in an event shell and have been a nin for 6yrs but, I honestly never took the job as seriously as I do now and would like to be the best I possibly can. Any help would be much appreciated

Did I ask the question wrong? I see people have looked into the thread but, no one has answered or even given suggestions. I "think" agi=eva also but, i could be wrong. This is more the question I was asking, what is the proper gear set to maximize your goal. Even haste for nin can depend on the gear slot I think because of DW. If a piece has +5 DW and another has +3haste I know on spell casting you should wear the haste but, on dps should you wear the DW? And if so, what are some examples if proper gear sets that try to cap haste and DW at the same time if that's even possible? I am just asking for suggestions of gear sets since there is sooo much gear and 90% of it is situational its hard to know the best. At least for me it is >_< I have never in this game tried to have absolutly the best gear but, I would like to try and do that for nin

I'll tell you my sets if you want, only listing haste/DW gear. Without double march it doesnt matter so much what you use. I also do not play with dancers so haste samba is not factored into any of my builds.
Full af3+2, twilight belt, suppanomimi and tierciel necklace if you have double march from a bard with +4 march and haste spell.
Af3+2 hat/legs/feet, gloves with 2+ haste, af1 body, suppa, iga earring, twilight belt if you have double march from a bard with +2 march and haste spell.
In either of these instances you hit the 80% delay reduction cap.
Evasion gear is sort of useless, get as much of it as you can and make a macro for if you get stuck trying to cast ichi, but if you just pay attention that shouldnt happen/matter. Full time DD gear so stuff dies faster!

Thank you for the response and info, I seem to be on the right track though. I am still working on +2 hat/hands, should I use zelas tiara or blitz ring since I am missing those and the neck? I am with a dnc and brd in events but, blm when duo/solo. Eva, i heard recently, has a cap of 80% or something. I have no idea the validity of that, was wondering if anyone knew. Again thank you for your help

Read this thread:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/3673-overall-weapon-delay-reduction-cap-help-me-out
Also, haste samba is another 10% haste, unless your DNC is terrible, then it's 5%.
Ninja can't use blitz ring, and tiara is lame, af3+2 hat has 6 haste and 5 dual weild, plus it makes you look like a ninja (o.o; )

Dooop <_< you are correct about the blitz ring lol i am a little confused why you say the tiara is lame though.... I have the +1 hat just need to finish it. So i should use the +1 hat in all three situation? I would think the extra two haste would be worth it in those instances, since -5eva is pretty easy to make up. I will check out that thread, thank you for the answers you have given. On a side note is there a formula for delay vs damage to know the mean avg for a low delay/dmg katana vs high delay/dmg so I can figure which will route will give me the best overall DoT and not just spike from ws? I know there use to be a thread on BG about it but, that was like 7yrs ago...... didn't have the time for the game back then as I do now lol again thank you very much

Tiara is lame cause it looks ugly, and is harder to acquire then af3+2 hat which is more useful, and looks cool.
That damage formula you ask for is complicated and would require a lot of knowledge about the specific mobs you are fighting. It's all on the wiki though, here's some stuff you might like:

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Damage_Per_Second
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Calculating_Weapon_Skill_Damage
In the end the answer is, the best weapons are kannagi main and kamone offhand.
As far as I can figure, inside abyssea you're going to need an offhand weapon with around 55d 190de or 65d 227de to be better then kamones +10% crit damage, or a way to cap crit damage without it, without losing RR GN or Apoc atmas, or anything else useful, like haste.
Outside abyssea you're going to lose the +50% crit rate you gain from atmas, so it'll be a bit lower, probably around 51/61.
These are my unproven ideas I mathed out on my own and have 0 confirmation on, I can say for certain they are close to the real required values, but I know for a fact they are not correct.
Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I didn't notice you had replied to what I said before.

capping haste is really easy on NIN, this is the gear i use
Haste/TP gear (http://www.ffxiah.com/item-sets/188564)
for evasion this is what i use that works quite well.

Darkvision: You are aware suppanomimi is 5% DW and Iga earring is 1 or 2% right?

Sry, I have beeen crazy busy.. ty for the replies. Your right about the iga earring, offtopic does it enhance the +2 set bonus......? Anyway, you have answered me perfectly regarding the delay question, a little off kilter math and viola, I figured out what I wanted know. Many steps closer to a great nin with my own preferences and you have my thanks, Wish

Just to hit on a comment earlier, just like other stats (unless 2handed) 2 stat = 1 hard stat, ie. 2AGI=1eva, so for gearing for eva alone, it's usually more efficient to look at eva+.
But soft stats cover more ground: AGI handles eva, block/parry, enemy crit chance, ranged acc
