Has anyone tried charming the 124-126 mobs yet? How many times did you die trying?
So, dear SE, may we, beastmasters have some charm accuracy gear?
Thank you for your consideration. :-D
How much chr were you wearing? Also did you tame them first? And gauge? I have to admit I haven't tried it... where did you find them? Now I want to try.... lol
I just did a quick look at it appears it's very easy to put together a charm set with 120 or more CHR - this is all with sparks gear and really cheap things on the AH. So if you're attempting with less than that, I'd suggest getting the best +CHR Espial and Outrider gear and trying again.

I was using +106 chr gear. Admittedly, I wasn't wearing optimal gear. My charming set has been neglected since the inception of Abyssea. These high level mobs are in Woh Gates. I successfully charmed one, once, then two hour'ed. Since then, I haven't been able to charm any more.
They gauged difficult. I did not try to tame them first. I'm not sure what effect that should have. But after a failed charm, I have tame in the same macro and I was also unable to tame them.
Also, SE, is charm affected by magic accuracy?

Were you using a Chatoyant Staff or an iLv axe? I am pretty sure SE changed charm's success rate to be based on your main hand's iLv a while back.

As I said above -

Like the espial cap has 20 Chr on it, and the E socks have 26 for example. And the O mittens have 19, and the E gambison has 22.
Also they may boost your ilevel as well. I wouldn't put tame in a macro with charm - I'd tame, see if it is successful then try to charm. Tame increases the chance of charming . A failed tame will not aggro the mob.
Here is what wiki says:
Using Tame on a mob that has not become aggressive will make it more susceptible to charm.
Using Tame on an aggressive mob may cause the target to stop attacking immediately and go back to its natural state.
The ability can be resisted. The success rate of Tame is determined by comparing your INT to the target's INT.
edit: I also included the BST neck from abyssea in that 120, so maybe I am overestimating a bit how easy to get, but everything else can be bought outright.
E cap= 20
Aristo belt= 8
E socks= 26
O Hose= 12
O mittens: 19
E gambison= 22
Angel rings X2 = 8
Ferine necklace= 6
light satchet = 2
total = 123 Chr - the only two bits here that are any difficulty to get are the ferine neck and the light satchet
edit: Oh and I forgot a back peice. Should be able to buy something like this: http://www.ffxiah.com/item/10966/aisance-mantle for another 4 chr.
That said, I haven't tried this myself so maybe they are just too hard!
Of course, I'd LOVE some gear made specifically with charming in mind. The reforged relic etc has some use for that, but some other pieces would be neat.

After the update I'll optimize my charm gear, post what I'm using and try again. But I'm iLvl 119 and the mobs are L124-126. They are at minimum 5 levels above and are incredibly tough. I'm crossing my fingers and will let you know the result. On the good side, once they're charmed, they seem to have about 10k+ hp! Reward healed for almost 3k and barely moved their hp bar. lol

One of the lesser utilized aspects of Unleash is to boost Charm accuracy (probably to 95%ish), so give that a shot next time. And since you're pairing it with Familiar anyway, the rest of your gear shouldn't matter with Unleash active.

Did not know this - thanks!

:D Having a pet that strong for 40 minutes with Monster/Ankusa Trousers... Sounds fun, haha.
Here's a question related to Job Point farming with high level charmed pets - does the reduced exp gain affect your Capacity Points, or are the points innate to the monsters based on their level (http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/120445-Job-Points-discussion?p=6061659&viewfull=1#post6061659)?

I did not know this either!
6 man bst job points party go (rotating both 2hrs).
that actually sounds like fun and probably pretty effective. 3 charmed pets and 3 jug pets.
I am actually really hankering for a bst shell thinking about this.
