Help getting to Abyssea

I just came back to XI and I am trying to make my way to Abyssea, I got the quest in Port Jeuno and now I need to go to a maw the walkthru I'm using states only 3 maws that I need to thru. I went to the maw at La thiene and I've never been thru that one in the past. My dilemma is how do I get to that one from the past? I tried before and couldn't figure it out. Any help would be great.

Abyssea maws are completely separate from maws leading to Shadowreign areas. There is only one Cavernous Maw in La Theine and it is near the zone to West Ronfaure.

Are you sure you're doing the right questline? It sounds like you have WoTG and Abyssea confused. Did you talk to Joachim first? Also are you trying on a level 30+ job?

yes I talked to joachim and he gave me a traverse stone and I'm level 54

Hmm puzzling. You've never entered abyssea before... and you're at the maw in La Theine Plateau (of which there is only one type). If these two things are true maybe you should try shutting down the game and restarting... might be a temporary glitch? The next step is definitely getting a cutscene at one of the maws and LTP is a fine place to do it.

well joachim suggested north and south guastaburg along with xacarda or something like that, so I'm goin to north gustaburg and see what happens at that maw.

OHHH! Maybe you only purchased Heroes of Abyssea and not Scars or Visions? He only suggested Heroes areas for you, so yeah go try one of those.

Did you purchase all three Abyssea add-ons? It sounds like Jochim is telling you to go to Heroes of Abyssea maws, and you were trying to get into a Visions of Abyssea maw.

Visons: LTP, K. Highlands, Tahrongi
Scars: Attowha (via Buburimu Peninsula), Misereux (Via V. dunes), Vunk (via Jugner Forest)
Heroes: Altepa (Via S. Gusta), Grauburg (via N. Gusta), Ulegarand (Via Xarcabard)

You can get in, But anything in there will eat you alive.

More than being eaten alive you're going to have a hard time hitting anything. If you have some friends who can build a party for you to leech xp you'll level very quickly but if you're on your own just stick to quests for fame and AF for the time being. As a rule of thumb don't expect to hit monsters in abyssea unless you're at the level it was designed for (75+ for visions, 80+ for scars, 85+ for heroes).

Oh well I was just going to unlock it but since theres really no reason for me to go there at the moment I won't go >< I'll get the other add-ons soon. I just wanted to leech to lvl lol. But right now I need to do GK2 ugh. Thanks for the info.

Well the monsters start somewhere around 85 and scale up depending on how quickly they are killed. So alone, you'll be killed.
