These Species can be obtained during the Second Collaboration event if you fulfill "Special Conditions" (See http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/12018/detail.html)

The Special Conditions are to obtain the Cap, Shield, and Earring for both Metal and She Slimes, as well as a Slime Fetish (You'll need it later, if you didn't get in the last event):

Slime Fetish: 10 Slime Coins
Metal Slime Cap: 30 slime coins
She Slime Cap: 30 slime coins
Metal Slime Shield: 20 slime coins
She Slime Shiled: 20 slime coins
Metal Slime Earring: 15 slime coins
She Slime Earring: 15 slime coins

So the total amount of slime coins you'll need to farm are about 140 coins. Once you obtain all of the items, then there will be cut-scene where the NPC awards you the Metal Slime and She-Slime spirits.

In the Feretory, you'll need to trade the spirits to Suibhne to earn the species, but it seems that he will not accept the trades unless you are possessing the Blue Slime (tried trading the metal slime as the red slime, but it didn't work until I changed back to blue).

Blue Slime: WAR/WAR
Red Slime: WAR/WAR
Grey Slime: BLM/WAR (Very high evasion and defense, but laughably small hp pool)

Yeah.. that sounds about right for Metal Slimes. Now if they get enhanced movement or flee laiter on it'll be spot on with the other DQ titles. But what exactly is the stat difference between red and blue? Normally red is only sllightly stronger, so how does that play out in monstrosity?

Red gains a 30% Attack boost, where as Blue has only 10%.

Metal Slime actually has a 120% Defense boost, meaning any defense bonuses you apply through Instincts or spells are more than doubled. It also has a significant Evasion and Magic resistance... However according to reports, drain still does a decent amount of damage through your resistances, and you can be dia/bio'd. However Metal slime is completely immune to poison.

Yeah, I've been finding that the Metal Slime is actually pretty darn good. The low health pool works really well with regen effects, which can mitigate those dots. Stack defensive stats and they can be really hard to kill.

Are you able to store this gear yet?

You've already been able to put it on Moogle Storage Slip 11 for quite a few months now.

(Edit: oops, wrong slip)

Slimes vs She-slimes (or Red Slimes) always confused me in the Dragon Quest games. They're virtually identical in strength and rewards given for defeat, but the red slimes always came fairly later in the game.
