Hello,
i have a japanese pol account but since a few years i'm playing in europe (i'm italian) so i have not access to a japanese credit card.
Actually i cant use anymore an european credit card and i use webmoney to pay for my account. I pay 3 months at a time and last time was on december , so this month i had to pay again for another 3 months. Now my account say it will expire on june.
I must suppose the free month do not apply to webmoney payment but only on credit card?
Its not really a problem. the downtime was only half month so i have no problem to pay for the full month, just asking. I'm scared to do something wrong with the account management and i cant really come to japan to set it right (not now for sure) :P

I think they said if your account was active in March you will have it waived, and if you activate prior to April's normal billing time it will be waived as well. IDK if people will be able to game the system and get the free period if they register after about the middle of April though--so long as you are active before the first of April though, I think you are getting the credit.

If you paid for march no matter how you paid it, you will not pay for April.
However, If you did not pay for March you will not get April free.

Contact SquareEnix see if you can get them to either refund it or set it for July. You are entitled to a free month.

I've got the same problem, I pay via WebMoney because they stopped accepting non-Japanese credit cards for payment of Japanese accounts in late-2008. I've been on WebMoney, and it is telling me my prepaid period is about to expire and to renew the funds on my WebMoney before the end of the month or my account will deactivate. When I go to check, it says I have to pay 1300-some yen in WebMoney for April, instead of being 0 yen.
I'm not fluent enough in Japanese to argue this with the Japanese support, and American support can't do anything with my account. Japanese support stopped speaking English when the game got an American release. It looks like WebMoney users aren't getting the free month.
I have no idea what to do.
I was learning Japanese in college when FFXI came out in Japan and figured it would be good practice, plus there were a lot of English-speaking importers on the forums helping with issues. Many of them are hard to find now, as they've retired. Now I haven't had a Japanese class in 6 years, due to going to school to be a computer tech, and that has eaten up a lot of my time to practice Japanese. I can no longer communicate with the support staff fluently enough to get support, and the support centers in other countries have no access to Japanese account settings.
There's also the matter fo how someone is supposed to get support without starting over from scratch if they have an account in one region from working there, being on military duty there, or just having moved to another country in the almost 9 years this game has been running. You have to make international calls for support in those cases, since your now local support center doesn't have access to your foreign account.
Accounts can be used on clients for all languages, but cannot get support in all languages. Something is wrong with this. We need shared access to the support centers, and the support centers need shared access to our accounts.
I am stuck with a Japanese address on my account, and I can't change it to a US one from having moved. So now it has to be a fake Japanese address on the account, and if I get mail needed to reactivate after a billing problem, I can't receive it or take it to a Japanese convenience store to clear the past-due charges (you cannot pay off a mischarge with a credit card on a Japanese account, you have to get a paper bill in the mail and pay it in person).

Lushipur,
Please note that the specifics for the waiving of April’s fees will vary from region to region, due to the different payment options available for each region (Japan, North America, and Europe). As such, you will need to contact the appropriate Support Center for the region of the PlayOnline account in question, if you have further questions regarding how this fee waiver applies to you.

According to Elmer of JPButton, the Japanese notice about WebMoney states that you pay the fee for April and they will refund it later back to your WebMoney card.
They don't post the notices for the other languages, since the payment option is Japan-only. I'm amazed there's an English WebMoney error at all when logging in on the American client.
They offer account conversion between NA and EU? I've never heard of that. I wonder why it can't be done to JP accounts. It's not like people don't move to or from Japan any differently than to or from the Americas or Europe...

Since they are only crediting the subscription fees, they are probably running normal billing then going back and issuing a credit to the accounts--so you may not have passed phase one of the process.

Yes, but that's SquareEnix accounts, not PlayOnline accounts, which cannot be changed. My mailing address in my Japanese PlayOnline account has to be Japanese and isn't pulled from my SE ID. I also can't switch to using American payment options since it's a Japanese account. I also have to keep importing expansions from Japan.

They are running the April billing in two phases. To "simplify" matters, they likely just ran normal billing and then are issueing credits for the qualifying accounts. If that's how they did it, then you would have gotten cut off when phase 1 billing didn't go through just like it would with the normal billing process.

There were people who had sufficient funds who were cut off. They said the fixed it but they haven't.

Alright I do have to ask, will they still be waived if they got deactivated becuase of the Registration Server screw-up? And did anyone get a messege about being billed for expansions that were aquired a couple months prior to this

true. but for things like the token it matters. i need to have a japanese SE account to link with my japanese pol id. but with the europen/american this is not true anymore. i can have an european SE account with ann american pol id. so i can buy crysta wiith a cc and link ff14 with ff11. with the japanese SE account i cant do this things.

They offer account conversion between NA and EU?For your square enix account (and only the square enix account) there was a one time chance to change the region of the account. Due to major overhauls of the SE account system they wanted to give everyone the oppertunity to make sure their account was in their own region to avoid issues with Final Fantasy XIV. However, once you set your region on your SE account after the oppertunity was given, it's locked to that region.
But again, that was only for SE accounts, not for POL accounts.

Even with WebMoney, I still got billed for April, no refund to my card, so now I'm having paid in full for March, April, and May. SE's forum response was useless, saying this situation is why they recommend buying the local version from the region you live in and creating an account with that. That's assuming we were living in the region we currently are in when we made our account. In 2002 the game was Japan-only with no foreign release date announced, a 2003 NA release date, and a European release date of 2004 or 2005. Lots of people had no way to play but to import, and lots of people have moved to other countries in the past decade. We have no way to change our account region if we move, and SE seems to state that we should start over completely if we move, in order to get support.

The Member Information section is a page with all the details registered to your account. The WebMoney Refund is an option in the pulldown menu at the bottom of that window. When you pull that up, there's a web money 16-digit code to recharge the points to your WebMoney account. I have now received my refund.
Why is it so hard to get help like this from the staff?
