So this idea struck me when I woke up this morning. I also shared it with my linkshell members and they said they would be very interested in something like this.

Basically this would be upgrading your weapon from the original AF set. You would upgrade it through a process, not sure what that would be yet, and eventually get it to a point where it's quite "beefy."

Also though at the same time as upgrading these weapons for 99, the storyline of each job would continue and also bring closure to some of the jobs that could really use it, for example summoner.

Sorry that more thought hasn't gone into the idea, but lets hear what you guys have to say about it and the possibility of implementing something like this for the new level cap!

Why would you want to use your AF weapon at 99?

I think some very traditional ultimate weapons should be made, FF7-10 ultimate weapons.

No to AF1 being great at 99 and no to FF7~10 influenced weapons.

If the AF1 weapon can be upgraded, it'd be nice to see it be upgradable at lower levels. Magians pre75 would be a lot of fun!

You guys really shouldn't be making fake dev tags.

Isn't it disingenuous to pretend like this is an actual dev topic?

That's the first thought that struck me as well.

All we'll end up with is that real dev tags won't be paid attention to by developers.

A while ago, I thought it would have been a good idea to have pre-75 upgrade quests for gear. Now, however, it is completely pointless because "no one" buys gear between level 30 and 75 anymore.

i think this is a lead for a decent idea, i mean we could do a quest pertaining to our job for a decent weapon. maybe not the greatest, but maybe a decent utility piece for the job within the story of our AF and our job's history.

I think that is a blatant over simplification. I have yet to be a 'key bitch' in a abyssea party with any of my jobs below 75. I've been leveling by solo/duoing and trying to party. Everyone leveling a job from 30-75 via key bitching is not practical. Tho I don't really see much need to make more/better gear for pre-75 since the stuff we have is pretty good all ready.

Personally, I see it as nothing more than a frivolous sort of thing. With all the weapons floating around now, and their upgrades, plus now trying to balance them, I really wouldn't want to see the dev team focusing on another set of weapons.

New weapons are going to happen regardless. This was a suggestion to bring back an old idea and put a new spin on it. Also I think weapons like these would mean more to the players and the jobs that they play and enjoy.

I'll pass on Beat Cesti +2. Also, people need to stop messing around with fake Dev Tags or altering existing Dev Tags. The Dev team made them for a reason. Everyone, and I mean Everyone on these forums thinks their idea is the best thing since sliced bread (see: "Best new ideas" thread). If anyone could use Dev tags, every thread would have them. It's disruptive, and it's horribly improper.

I think besides finishing off your relic/mythic/empyrean they should add the Ultima series for 99. Having it start as the AF base would be fine by me, but I'd love to have those big crystalline looking Ultima weapons.

It was an exaggeration, yes, but it is rooted in reality. The AHs are more or less empty in the mid-levels now, and that's partially because few people buy mid-level gear, so no one bothers to sell it. Another reason is of course limited AH slots and having to put an item back up for sale 10 times before it sells.

Personally, I haven't keywhored any jobs in abyssea, mostly because i think it's more fun to duo and trio with a few friends. But yeah, we don't really need new gear or upgrades of gear in the mid levels, just a better supply of the items that already exist.

I think it would be a neat addition to upgrade the AF1 weapons. However, they should be given utility stats (similar to the stats on AF1/AF2 armor), not stats for DD. Ex: +TH on thief weapon, +shadowbind duration on rng bow (or widescan range?), +jig duration on dnc weapon. They could essentially be macro gear for job abilities.

I guess they could make af weapons upgradable to maybe be like a mini mythic (something to improve on a job ability) but I would not make them too "beefy", maybe an alt to doing common magian quest weapons?

They could like... give them dynamis drops and make +1 versions of them to benefit the job in some way
