View Full Version : Why should Mandau be trash in offhand?

I'm correct when I say offhand relics only have the base damage and delay when used in the offhand?
This pretty much makes most of the current other options better suited for the for the offhand. this has pretty much been an issue for me since pre seekers as a mandau and twashtar owner and it bothered me that I could pretty much make any trials dagger and it would be better off in my offhand than my mandau.
I understand and can accept not allowing the hidden procs and added effects while in the offhand but to basically kill relics when used in the offhand seems kind of severe. there are other jobs that can utilize two relics at once w/o any penalty.

this has been on ongoing issue since ws specific weapons have come out, and its not limited to Mandau. it was put in to prevent offhanding a sword and getting say urial slash with an axe equipped. i dont know why you would want to use mercy stroke other than you have it (and congrats) but your not wrong. a simple change to the coding by way of Latent Effects for them would allow use of those weapons while a specific type of weapon was equipped mainhand

For a time I believe from when the level 80 trials came out to 90ish the att or acc stats worked offhand. I really don't see why those shouldn't at least still work on the offhand. In an age where every weapon type can make an acc/att magian for almost as much or now eminent weapon with even more of those stats... I mean is it really OP to have mandaus 40 att work offhand when say eminent daggers 39 acc/10att does? Or Izhiikoh's DEX+15 Accuracy+10 Attack+8 Evasion+22 "Triple Attack"+2% all work offhand?
Also I feel the occasionally deals double/triple dmg should also work offhand. After all why should 2hd weapons be able to proc that on every hit but dual wield jobs only be able to on the main hand? Basically cuts our rate in half if we dual wield and if we don't we lose out on a ton of attack speed which we are already behind on thanks to hasso

Considering how far behind in damage most dual wielders are compared to twohanders, I don't think it would be problematic to allow RME stats to take effect in the off hand. However, no special WS or aftermath should be available from them when offhanded. A thief gaining 40 attack and occasionally 3x damage for the mandau only wouldn't break things, I think.

I wouldn't even think aftermath would be that game breaking considering you couldn't get it for relics (not like half of them are good anyways) and it's not like you can have 2 different aftermaths up at once
