Unable to log in to POL/FFXI

I did not have my Square Enix account linked to my POL ID prior to the servers going down.

After the servers went down I linked my POL ID to my Square Enix account so that I could post on these forums.

When I tried to log in after the servers went back up I clicked on my Member name, entered my Member password, and then clicked settings, I then typed in my Square enix account name and clicked OK. I was then prompted to enter my Square Enix Password. I typed it in and it went to the Verifying Playonline screen. It then pops up with "Incorrect Playonline ID or Password"

I am at a complete loss as to what to do. Many other people have said that they had trouble logging in and that all they had to do was put in their Square enix username and then use their Square enix password to log in. I did all that and still cannot get in.

OK problem solved.

Once you get to the screen where you can edit member passwords and settings...
Below the field that displays your POL ID
you have the Save/not set toggle
and below that you have Playonline Password
In the playonline password field you are going to type the old password that you used to have to type in to log in to the game.

then when you get to where you used to type in that old password you will now type in your Square Enix ID.

Hello, I am getting Error code:POL-5312
"The Square Enix ID, Square Enix password, or one-time password entered is incorrect."

I don't use a security token.
I have no clue what is wrong.

I resolved the issue "Error code:POL-5311" by doing a Square Enix ID password retrieval, and changing the password.

i too linked my pol account during downtime and having that problem akujima how to you get the the square enix id password retrieval?

Finally fixed it, go to your settings, input your playonline ID password, leave member password blank and go down and to the bottom and put in your Square enix Id (what you login to this website with), try to login , when it says playonline password put that in, THEN it will say square enix password, put in the password you use to log in to this site and you should get through.

Well having this info i would think helped me, but when I try and log onto POL I can get to the checking PlayOnline viewer then it just sits there not doing anything. Is this cause of so many people trying to go on at once or is there a connection problem to the server, or does this have to do with the log in errors people have been getting?

So I just got the game, can't get on the server where my friends play after being talked into it. Then I go through all the stupidity to start up by making a content ID, playonline ID, Square-Enix ID, and finally get it in. Logged out to go eat lunch, came back, and now my password is invalid? I've done all the steps in this thread and another to "fix" the problem, but it isn't working...and truly, I am sorry about Japan and all that has happened, but I can't seem to find a way to reset my playonline ID or find a way to fix this. Nothing in this thread has worked and it's only resetting my Square-Enix password, not the POL pass. I are a sad panda =(

I ran into this once when I first setup my token. I stopped saving my POL pass after I had gotten hacked a few years ag0 (in case it was being sent in plain text and easy for someone to grab with a keylogger). Come to find out I had mistyped my annoying POL password that got saved either in the game interface or at the SE site when I linked it. Went back and typed in newer, easier passwords and I got in just fine.
