Howdy! Here's some love for bards :)

We are looking into addressing this.

Will Massacre Elegy be added?



We have plans to. However, when considering the stats, we are planning to make it so this isn’t a song that can be used by just anyone.


it's now 2014. Adding 1 song for bard can't be as difficult as adding summoners avatars.

The development team has not forgotten about the implementation of Cait Sith and Atomos as new avatars; however, when it comes to job related content they are currently prioritizing adjustments and merit point categories for geomancer and rune fencer, as well as the new special abilities.
(They are prioritizing the new special abilities because they are being added to all jobs.)

With that said however, we are planning to implement Cait Sith and Atomos at the same time.

We mentioned this previously, but Caith Sith will be a type of avatar that will fight alongside you, while Atomos will be a special type of avatar similar to Odin and Alexander.

Once we have some new information to share on the status of these two new avatars we will be sure to let you all know!

SE Please give us an update on the status of Massacre Elegy. It has been over 3 years since it was posted that it would be released for brd, but not for everyone. WHM', BLM's, and SMN's got what was promised to them around the same time as the information for Massacre Elegy. They got Arise, Meteor and Cait Sith, so why can't we BRDs get our "ultimate" spell.

Slow just like the others, but it's only usable by mobs since it gives a 100% Slow effect, which would be kinda (very) broken in the hands of players if you ask me. Although... if adding Massacre E. was accompanied by the addition of Slow III for RDMs then I could be bribed into looking the other way. =P

Actually why don't they have any 2nd or 3rd tier threnodies as well? Maybe even some aoe elegys as well as the massacre elegy? Overpowered my butt (if they say it) it's what's missing from the game, if the enemy can cast it we should too. Um and if you say no then at least give us what ya promised, massacre.

Yes brds are in high demand, but does this take precedence over what SE has said they were going to do? I think it's unfair that SE give the other jobs what they stated they would get, and for brd to have Massacre Elegy dangled infront of them and then not given just because our job is in high demand. The only time brd has really NOT been used, is during the abyssea era when alot went blm/brd for procs.

I have waited 3 years since they said we would get it, have never stopped playing. I'm just requesting a status update on it, not have it done next update. Whether it's still in the works, or if SE has changed their mind and won't be giving it to the players.

Yes we all realize that it still doesn't change the fact that they said we could have it but haven't given it. It would be the same for any job, if they promised Blue mages that they would let them learn, say encumbrance and didn't let them or promised all mages hastega and didn't give it to them they'd all have the right to ask where the heck is it, right?

Yeah, the only reason that this is even an issue is because SE didn't just say "no" in the first place. Or at least say "we'll look into it, but don't hold your breath".

To me the obvious way to add M.E. would be as part of a 119 upgrade on G Horn or Daur, or both.

massacre elegy is pretty OP. Let's make it so you have to have carnwenhan, gjallahorn, and daurdabla all at 119 as prerequisites for a quest to obtain the song. don't want to make it too easy to get.

I suggested to SE that Massacre Elegy be a Gjallahorn 99 specific song before and again no response from SE. As for 119 Carnwenhan, 99 Gjallarhorn and 99 Daurdabla for Massacre elegy, I'd be fine with that.

Again I'm asking for a status update on Massacre Elegy SE. If you have changed your mind and decided NOT to release it that's fine too. I just want a status update on it as it's been 3 years since you said brds would get the spell. Basically I don't want false hope for it, so can we get an update.

Would be great on Gjallarhorn and maybe put some kind of unique song on Durabdala for when they introduce the eventual "Adds two song effects" augment to a Skirmish Harp.

I think it's a bit unfair that the question about the Improving black belt(spelled incorrectly as well) http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/44082-Improuving-Black-Belt-to-99 got answered 3 days after was posted and my question about Massacre Elegy still goes unanswered. Please SE just give a response, either yes we still plan to give brds Massacre Elegy + timeframe or NO we decided to change our minds and brds will not be getting it.

I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions in this thread, and rest assured I have forwarded this information along to the dev. team.

In regards to Massacre Elegy, the team has been looking into this for quite some time, but after considering current battle balance and balance between support jobs they have decided not to implement it at this time.

While I'm not happy with the answer I am glad we have finally got a definitive answer instead of false hope. Though I'm not sure why the question would be answered in another post(a newer post) http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/46321-Adjustments-to-some-old-spells?p=543114#post543114 than this existing older one.
