So there's one of these type of threads on the FFXIV forums, but when I come here there seems to be a lot of suggestions for different stuff, but not a thread where many people can come and post all of there suggestions in one place for the devs to look at all once. So I thought that it would be a great idea to make this thread. And seeing as how over the last 2-3 years the devs have become more responsive, I figured, why not give it a try? So what are some things that could help make this game better for both new and veteran players?
Here's two things from me that I feel should be addressed to help make a player's life in the game easier and bring the game up to date with current MMO's.
1) Make locating quest NPCs and/or quest description easier I think one of the biggest issues and gripes of the game is not knowing which npcs are quest givers, let alone which ones are related to a particular quest. The only way that a player can even identify who is who is by either having a hard copy of an out of date Brady's Guide like I do, or searching the web for a guide. In today's MMO's, quest npcs have become a lot easier to locate due to having some sort of Icon to signal that they are a quest giver or associated with a quest that a player has currently undertaken. I think the addition of this would alleviate a lot of stress that comes with doing quests in the game.
2) Empyrean Armor Seals Storage. This is by far the biggest issue I have to date. Nothing sucks more than having a bunch of for your Empyrean Armor taking up a lot of inventory space. Sure I could just drop what I don't need for my main job, but then the problem that comes in is what happens when I need to reacquire those same seals later on in my FFXI career for another job? Having an npc that players can store those excessive amounts of seals on would do wonders for people like myself who like to level and play multiple jobs.
I do have one more suggestion that came to mind as I was typing.
3) Artifact Weapon Upgrades. With the newly acquired ability to reforge and upgrade our Relic/Mythic/Empyrean Weapons I couldn't help but wonder, what happened to our very first special weapon...our Artifact Weapons? Back in the day, Artifact weapons were the first step to mastering you role/job. For some jobs, the artifact weapon was an useful addition to a lvl 40-42 job, but for others they were just an road block that needed to be passed in order to get your af body armor. My suggestion is to allow us to reforge them as well. Some players may gripe about having to upgrade yet another weapon, but the great thing about this game is that you always have some piece of gear that's more useful than others.
Last one from me
4) NPC Adventuring Fellow armor upgrades. While most people complain about not being able to lvl their npc fellow the last 4 lvls, my complaint is a bit more different and I don't think most people have mentioned this. Why is it that our npcs our still stuck wearing outdated pre-CoP gear? I mean how is it that they were released like a patch or two after the release of CoP and yet, you can't equip them with even that expansion's set of gear. I mean sure, while gear absolutely has no effect on your npc fellow's stats, I think it would be nice to have gear options that are more up to date with the latest expansion as opposed to Vanilla or RoTZ out dated gear. So why not SE? Trust npcs are nice, you've really neglected our npc fellows over the years.
Here's some more from me
1) New Main City Rank Missions. After eleven years, you would think we would have had this by now. I know SE is busy working on new quests/missions for the SoA expansion, but the main cities have become long forgotten. It's like everything occurring in the main three cities just stop at rank 10. Not sure how correct my math is with Vana'diel time, but I think a year in Vana'diel time is like a month Real life/Earth Time. So it would be nice to see what's going on in the lives of certain main city npcs since the end of the rank 10 missions. Even Jeuno could be involved seeing as how with Kam'lanaut no longer the Grand Duke after the events in RoTZ, there has yet to be a new Grand Duke named. So while it'll probably be awhile until after Adoulin is finish, breathing new life into the main cities would be nice.
2) Resurrect Kazham. Kazham, oh my dear Kazham, oh how do I have memories of taking up camp inside the small Mithran Village while waiting for a party invite. Chasing/following around the roaming Opo-opo npc while waiting for a party invite. What happened? SE has completely purged all knowledge of Kazham's existence. When the "Ease of Exploration" moogle power was added, Kazham was nowhere to be found on the list. Even with the addition of the waypoints, Kazham is not an option in the list. I wonder if new players to the game even know that this forgotten place even exists. There hasn't even been a decent up to date quest placed in Kazham since lord knows when. My suggestion, SE please remember that Kazham and the Elshimo area does still exist. Can we see some new life given to Kazham, some new npcs, new quests maybe? Give us reason to return here after we're done with the Elshimo/Ifrit's Cauldron/Sea Serpent Grotto portion of our AF quests and after we've finished the RoTZ quests not to mention Ifrit Trial quest and the teleport scroll quest. Because after that what other reason do we have to come here when we can just OP warp to the ones in either Elshimo Uplands/Lowlands?
3) Campaign Battles and Besieged expansions When these were released for their respective expansions, despite the lag issues, were great ideas. They were what made the game fun and made you feel like you were apart of the game's story/lore. But in typical SE fashion, they are forgotten and become over-shadowed, by newer content that eventually meet the same fate. I know this has been mentioned before, but it would be nice to see these type of events expanded to the present main city areas or something like that. Beastmen lurk right outside of the four main cities not to mention the Beastmen strongholds that inhabit the area not to far off, and I find it weird that they haven't tried to attack. For successful completion of these battles, the player would receive a nice reward.
4) PvP Let's be honest, PvP in XI has never really shined its brightest. Back when XI was at it's peak, it's shining era...I remember SE use to have Ballista or Brenner tournaments. Over the years, the idea for PvP was lost and forgotten. It made a brief reappearance in the form of Pankatron, but that never really went anywhere. With the introduction of Belligerency, PvP in XI makes a reappearance once more, but...I rarely see anyone taking part in this. My suggestion, make PvP worth doing. Give people a reason to want to do PvP. Reintroduce the tournaments at the yearly Vana'Festivals. Or better yet have a yearly tournament where the champions of each region meet for the final championship match at Vana'Fest.
5)Chocobo Raising/Racing Chocobo breeding and racing gives me the biggest headache. Why? Because you have so little control over the chocobo that you bred and worked hard to raise. Starting with breeding a chocobo, everyone has a yellow chocobo chick until it reaches it adolescent stage where you begin to see the colors of its feathers. The frustrating part of this is, you have to be careful of what you feed you chick if you're going for a certain color. What makes this worse is the chances of receiving a blue/black/red/green chocobo are pretty much very slim. And what happened to the white chocobo? What is SE racist against Albino Chocobos? I mean it's in the dats, so why can't we get one? Suggestion, SE please make it easier to obtain a blue/black/red/green chocobo without having to buy and raise 20-30 eggs. Moving into Chocobo Racing. Why was this even introduced if we weren't even going to have any form of control over our chocobos? What makes it worse is that the rewards aren't even worthwhile. Suggestion, Give us a reason to explore and actually enjoy this content. Allow us to have more control over what our chocobo does (ie: sprinting, items used by the jockey riding our chocobos). And introduce items worth doing to content for such as items that allow you to permanently increase your chocobo's stats or allow to increase their movement speed when riding them. SE brings in some great content, but then either doesn't execute it right or just lets it fade into obscurity.
I'll probably have some more suggestions later, but that's what I could think of at the time.
Home point warp expansion - more areas and also includes teleport crystals.
More Super Kupowers and expansion - Double exp for both monipulators and players, and double seal drop rate. Expands to all areas.
It's been brought up several times already but:
Reduce Missions and Quest delays that involves waiting after Japanese midnight to proceed.
Bring the EXP lvl back to what it was, it's so painstaking to grind out that low level, even with exp bands like Emperor and Empress (Kupofried on my RUN mule, but that's another story).
Though one thing I definitely agree on are those seals, why not just let us store them with something like a Shami system? Can put the NPC right beside Joachim/Horst
Bring about the coliseum please. If not then take out the npc that talks about it and it's part on the map.
Also airship fights. Seriously even now in game we get told why we can't take one to SoA sort of. You put in pirate attacks for some ferry rides and have fish or undead pop onto the ships so why not this in the air?
Stop being treated as someone no one has heard of. Only so many time a person can save the world and still get treated like a no one. Though you did fix thus a little with the trust npcs.
Find a woman for the prince quest. Would quit and restart this quest on my main more often til it said it wanted someone who looked like me if I didn't have to rezone after quitting.
Bridget and her quest for the love of god stop making the required armour needed random and at times harder to get than an Umbril ooze to drop. Make it so that there is an armor change every ten levels after 52 that is the same for the jobs that can equip the body and pants or w/e she asks for when turning in sub liars or just to do her seal quest once for completion for the zone achievements.
Drop rate on the items for the opo-opo crown needing an increase or at least another way to get the ones that drops off certain mobs.
Garrison: make it so people will also want to go do these again. Maybe upgrade the level of the gear they drop along with the drop rate of the other items you can get.
More adventure fellow quests: give us more story quests. Im sure there are other things Luto would find interesting. Specially with now with SoA.
That's all I can think of right now
I don't think that it should be visibly present icons above a NPC's head or something like that, if anything, I would opt for one or both of these solutions.
A: Have a new marker color such as red for quests, or simply recycle the hardly used green we have now, with these markers we should be able to talk to a NPC who can mark all currently available quests on our map with these markers. The location of this NPC should be somewhat easy to find out, rather than making it hard to find like how Trust can be for anyone who doesn't read the update notes. When progressing in a quest new markers could be placed on your maps accordingly and the old ones removed, as to keep your map up to date on the quest in progress and inform you of your next traveling location. This marker system would not annoy people who are not in need of it, it would not clutter, and it would only really end up helping people, the difficulty in this option I fear is implementing it, as SE may have problems with actually getting it in the game.
B: Make the quest log more comprehensive. The quest log could not possibly be more vague with its descriptions of what you are expected to do, if the quest descriptions were made more like how RoE is displayed, with some accurate information as to your objectives, that would easily help people complete them. If the quest log displayed positions for NPCs or at least told you what zone to look in, it would make it much easier to understand and complete, rather than the NPC only giving hints as to the location you need to go and at the same time providing no help if you need to stop during a quest and forget where you were. By adding a list format as well, they could put something like a hollow circle next to each objective and replace it with something like a star upon completion so a person knows exactly where they are in a quest when coming back to it. This again seems like it would be a lot of work on SE's part and may not be possible because the quest system is quite old and it would take time to redo it probably, though it is just the display and may be easier than it sounds.
it is much easier and in the long run much more practical for them(newer Players) to learn about wiki etc.
it would be a waste of time and resources. we have large issues than quest icons and storage...
i mean really look how long it takes them to implement all recent content. everything is sectioned off and split up.
what we really need is content with better gameplay. content that is long lasting. real updates. so that give us a wide spectrum of content to do that will last for 6 months+ for linkshells. bring back the camaraderie.
so here is my suggestion to what the game content overall should be like.
i will probably miss something but im sure you guys will get the idea.
solo only
farming gil via syntesis mats, proc dynamis, salvage,
monstrosity
trust
crafting/helm
6man and below
assault
nyzul
skirmish
AA
orb *NMs
reives
coalition assignment.
R.O.E
12 man and below
vw
18man
Delve
higher tier vw.
18+
Wildkeeper reives
here is my suggestions
Update ZNM to 3 tiers
solo
take pictures for zeni
6 man tier
purchase NM pops from npc with pictures.
3 to 6 different NMs in the tier. based on Toau Bestiary.
drop accessories updated from previous ZNMs.
possiblities to drop single alexandrites.
synthesis materials relation to update gear for next tier(s). must be crafted by multiple guilds.
upon defeat of nm, everyone in party gets a KI.
12 man tier
harder NMs for 12 man groups
NM pops from combination of KIs
3-9 different nms
drop accessories updated from previous ZNMs
drops 1-4 Alexandrites.
upon defeat of nm, everyone in party gets a KI.
18 man tier
harder nms for 18 man groups
nm pops from combination of KI from previous tiers/path.
drops updated ilvld enkidu, aurum, oracle.
drops 1 alexandrite pouch 100%
we dont need any rewards directly from NPC like Delve or skirmish. Put us out there let us have fun killing NMs.
the alex and new gear will give content drops for everyone and it will also push interest in mythics. its what everyone wants.
Update Dynamis II - for 18 man groups
adds zone based on beastman strong holds, davoi, castle oztorja, beadeuz
maybe have new cop like zones from toau. like whitegate, al zahbi for accessories.
Please bring back game elements where blms Sleepga, THF puller and have Traps. example. aggro a stone and 10 mobs spawn.
alliance of players vs an alliance mobs. NM generals with new 1 hour abilities, just the ability to massacre larger amounts of mobs.
we dont need reservations where one group can enter or 4 hours caps to the events. 1 hour-2hour time limit.
We need better drop rates then dynamis was prior to proc update.
maybe dynamis af gear +3 that augment newer JAs and Merit II abilities. mobs must have with better drop rates. 1/15 kills guarentee a random job drop.
maybe add a currency similiar to plasm to purchase base items and upgrades from an NPC while allowing them to drop randomly in zones. similar to delve.
no need to update drop rates to relic currency. 0-3 per mob or just exclude it so that the players still have solo dynamis in the previous zones.
revamp VW.
add a path to vw from SOA that drops update/better gear, hmp/hmp pouches. cinders/dross
require the base athos/rubeus and ogiers to update new gear.
linkshell can grow and ppl can be trused to play with each other. there is enough solo content. s.e has done a great job in creating a foundation for solo casual play. updates to R.O.E Trust and monstrosity.
Bring back Level cap fights - 6man
Similiar to BCNMs but with a system that drops rare/ex and revamps gear 1-75. I think at this point most players didnt experience lower leveling and add difficulties like level caps will challenge older players and new players in the right way.
it also sucks to do lower BCNM the drops are rather useless and there is no space for holding level capped gear. if this rare.ex is added with slips there will be great depth added to the player base
the rewards for these can be new lower gear sets, 4-5 tiers
revamping gear with these models.
20 lizard beetle trump gear etc
30 bone noct
50 jse?
60 darksteel
75 sky armor and sea accessories
of course Delve II
tree with plantiods
hurkan with birds
and lion with beasts
with these events im sure the playerbase will be happy and busy for a long time.
we didnt need delve to give us 60k plasm it made it so easier to complete the content after 3 zone wins. just tone down the drop rates/ rewards. give yourself more time to develop the game which we are busy murdering mobs/NMs.
Um, I've never bred a chocobo from two coloured parents and not had it turn out the same colour. If you want a red choco breed two red chocos together. I've never heard/read anything about feed changing the chances of different colours.
HOWEVER. Choco raising needs to be improved/simplified. I'd like it to become WORTH doing even slightly by making it so that a raised choco CANNOT be slower than a rented one, but they can be faster (so the opposite of now, where you need to breed/raise a choco perfectly to get it the SAME speed as a rental). I love pulling out my blue choco but it sucks that I need to rent when I'm riding with friends because he can't keep up. Also choco items for GIL on NPCs please. Chocobucks are not a useful currency.
That's it for me, but what other suggestions do you guys have that could help make this game better and breathe new life into the game?

I don't really have anything else to add, but I think the Empyrean storage option is a great idea that I haven't seen mentioned before. Sure, you can store them on a mule, but it'd be much more convenient if you could just store them with the Magian Moogles until you need them or something. In fact, I'd be in favor of that for all Magian trial items, including the NM trophies.
My Storage is clogged with currencies and assorted upgrade items (Veridgris Stones, I'm looking at you), and it'd be nice if I had the option of using them in the same way I use Beastmen Seals or Ancient Beastcoins. Dump it all at a NPC, and have an option to use/withdraw it.

It's fine that you don't like the quest icons and you have every right not to as well as every right to express your opinion, but what about everyone else? Staying on topic, XI is very vague in telling you who's a quest npc and where or who to go to next. Like I said without a proper up to date guide, you're pretty much out of luck, especially for newer players coming in who don't know anything about FFXIclopedia, FFXIZAM, or any other website that offers guides/walkthroughs for the game. So my question to you is, if quest icons are not a good choice/option, then what would be a better way to help players locate quest NPCs?

I agree, and also it's part of what makes FFXI feel more immersive. Not on rails. (Oh no now I'm talking like Cait Sith)
Widescan for all jobs is definitely helpful in locating quest NPCs, and rather that quest icons floating over NPCs heads (ugly), I would welcome an active quest magical maps marker category. I realize this might be a difficult feature to implement however.
After playing FFXIV for months and coming back to XI, the things I appreciate immensely about XI is it's simplicity in certain regards. The lack of people jumping up and down for no reason in cities, lack of icons over virtually every NPCs head, really make Vana'diel feel like a more civilized, relaxing world to interact with.
On the otherhand, looking at my quest log, there must be hundreds of quests I started and haven't finished because I either didn't know I started them, don't have clear instructions in the log, or while out adventuring, completely pass by a random ??? that I might need to click on because it doesn't visually appear.
My 2 cents: No to floaty icons over npcs heads, yes to quest map markers, yes to labelling ???'s in the field either literally with "???" text or a sparkly glow like the Lost Articles in Ulbuka.

It wouldn't have to be anywhere but on the map. Also for the non repeaters the icon would go away after you finished that line. Also if not icons again what better way to make knowing where to go who else to talk to or what to get once you get a quest easier to do or follow. I know you are not being literal about which npcs would or wouldn't have an icon, but don't just complain and not give an idea on how to make this old girl of a game better if you don't like or agree with the one offered.

Except FFXI has exponentially more quests than any other Final Fantasy game (possibly even combined– seriously, I think FFXI has over one thousand quests).

Because dance spamming and running around your party because you're bored while waiting for your event to actually happen is soo different than people jumping around because of the same thing in XIV.

It's been brought up several times already but:
Reduce Missions and Quest delays that involves waiting after Japanese midnight to proceed.
Greetings,
Below is a comment from Akihiko Matsui about this. :)
The reason behind the requirement of waiting until midnight JST for missions and quests was to set the stage for the storyline as well as to alleviate congestion. However, play styles have changed for FFXI and I think there would be no issue if we removed this requirement.
However, if we were to get rid of the requirements associated with the storyline it would be contradictive, and we need to address these one by one, so we will first start by addressing the aspects without any issues. Please give us a bit of time to work on this.

So my question to you is, if quest icons are not a good choice/option, then what would be a better way to help players locate quest NPCs?
it is much easier and in the long run much more practical for them(newer Players) to learn about wiki etc.
it would be a waste of time and resources. we have large issues than quest icons and storage...
i mean really look how long it takes them to implement all recent content. everything is sectioned off and split up.
what we really need is content with better gameplay. content that is long lasting. real updates. so that give us a wide spectrum of content to do that will last for 6 months+ for linkshells. bring back the camaraderie.
so here is my suggestion to what the game content overall should be like.
i will probably miss something but im sure you guys will get the idea.
solo only
farming gil via syntesis mats, proc dynamis, salvage,
monstrosity
trust
crafting/helm

Because dance spamming and running around your party because you're bored while waiting for your event to actually happen is soo different than people jumping around because of the same thing in XIV.
It is actually! Dance spamming and running around your party doesn't look quite as unusual as a bunch of chocobos/behemoths/goobues jumping around. I guess my original point was just that FFXI feels a little more elegant to me than most MMOs despite its age and older looking graphics due to the fact that there is a significant lack of extraneous iconography and general elements that constantly remind you that you're playing a game.

If the quest log displayed positions for NPCs or at least told you what zone to look in, it would make it much easier to understand and complete, rather than the NPC only giving hints as to the location you need to go and at the same time providing no help if you need to stop during a quest and forget where you were. I would second this, both of them. I like how you think and either one would be a great alternative to quest icons.
Just on a side note, I hate that the moment someone mentions anything slightly similar to what WoW has and everyone begins going into a WoW panic attack. As if this game hasn't already started going down that road with item level equipment and becoming more casual/solo friendly. Even with the addition of quest icons, you guys have to remember that most quests are locked by their respective fame level requirement. Even with Jeuno, where most of the quest aren't available until after you've acquired a sufficient amount of fame in each of the three main cities, you would be icon free until enough fame was established. Like I said, it doesn't even have to be the big exclamation point floating overtop of a npc's head. A simple change in the color of their name, or just something in the quest log would be enough to help players out when questing.
Funny story is, a few months back I was considering quitting this game after playing since PS2 release. I mean I could pretty much solo almost everything here and most of my jobs were at 99 now and I was getting bored. Fortunately and Unfortunately (don't ask) I fell out of love with XIV and decided to come back to XI. Mind you, this isn't the same XI that I fell in love with 11-12 yrs ago, but yet I've been having fun thus far with some of the newer content. Do I want this game to be or become like WoW or any of it's clones? No...hell no! I played WoW for like a week, quit and haven't resubbed since. I can't even play any of it's clones because I feel empty inside. My point, this game at some point was bound to change whether we like it or not. Adding a few things, making a few changes, and updating a few old mechanics so that the game can last another 11+ years in a world where most MMO's are nothing more than WoW clones and are going FTP is better than letting this game die and fade into obscurity. Don't like quest icons? Fine, but why not add some feature that allows players to identify which npcs are quest givers or quest involved. The expansion of wide scan to all jobs was great, but why not take it a step further?

Actually I tried breeding my red choco with my alt's choco and all I got was a yellow chocobo. Also, for my red choco, I fed her nothing, but Sand'Orian Carrots and got a bright red choco, so food to some extent has some effect on what color you get.But then again I fed another choco I raised from egg some form of greens...can't remember which one...but all I got was a yellow choco. So the chances of obtaining a colored chocobo are pretty slim to say the least.

1) Quest Icons. I think one of the biggest issues and gripes of the game is not knowing which npcs are quest givers, let alone which ones are related to a particular quest. I think the addition of this would alleviate that comes with doing quests in the game.

They are still releasing guides for the game in Japan, at least yearly. This one detailed a lot of previously unconfirmed hidden effects and latent effects on equipment, which is starting to propagate to the wikis.
That said, a printed guide is always going to be out of date after the next patch, which is now occurring at least monthly. A wiki really is the best way to keep on top of an MMO, because it's the only thing that can be maintained and edited fast enough.
http://www.playonline.com/polapps/s/fansite2.lnk.Top?polg_loc=en
They do link to one of the wikis on the Community Sites page, which is linked from the front page of the official site.
In-game indicators tend to clutter up the visual display, and the previous games never had them, yet had plenty of hidden sidequests. I'd say the better time investment would be actually making the quest descriptions more useful and informative.

Just to do a bit of thread control, I'm understanding that the majority of you guys are not in favor of the Quest Icons suggestion I made. But please remember that this is a suggestion thread and try to stay on track please. I definitely should have been more clearer on my first suggestion, because I now have you guys in a WoW panic and this thread has turned into a "GTFO with you WoW-esque idea".
You know, I was reading through the thread on XIV (not started by me) that's similar to this one and even though XIV is a semi new game and the ppl over there will have more suggestions than what we'll have for this 12-13 year old game, I'm sure that at one point we've all sat our pc or at our tv screens and wondered what could possibly make this game better or make playing the game better. Well here's your chance. I'm sure that we all love this game and would like for it to stick around for another 11+ years.
For those of you who have offered suggestions, thank you and I'll edit my OP to not only have my suggestions, but all of you guys' suggestions as well.

They do link to one of the wikis on the Community Sites page, which is linked from the front page of the official site.
It's about the only link on that page that still works (which says something about how frequently that page is updated), that particular wiki went through a fork, and the one linked to has been rendered all but useless thanks to the deliberate release of a rampant bot and a lack of follow-up (because why bother when you can just go to the other fork?).
And on top of that fragmentation of information across (by my last count) three different wikis, the only information that tends to get updated is that for bleeding-edge content. Reliable information from those sources tapers off with player interest, creating a vicious cycle where players only do the content for which there is information available.
And this is without getting into all the little bits of "How the @#$^ was I supposed to know that?" stuff strewn throughout this game ("Dcotor" status, anyone?)
That said, a printed guide is always going to be out of date after the next patch
If only there were some sort of first-party, online information resource (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/) that could be regularly maintained with game updates...
This is a problem with playability. This problem with playability has been fixed in their latest-and-greatest. The playerbase should not be paying $12.95/mo for the privilege of doing S-E's work for them.

I'll link up an ancient post of mine (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/1535-Missing-Interface-Features?p=12751&viewfull=1#post12751) that got a little bit of attention... (and it seems like they did a partial implementation of #1 with the color of the targeting arrow... though I never saw it mentioned in update notes)
A method of accurately determining your range from a target.
An Area of Effect indicator.
The Tactical Points (TP) of other party members.
Status of party members. (both buffs and ailments)
Remaining time on status effects.
Text command to cancel buffs.
A "Text Advance" button that does not select menu options.
I'd revise #2 by saying that now that Geomancers have those glowy areas of effect, this could be used for bard songs very easily, along with the other points mentioned.
I also made this post further down the page with a macro suggestion. (an option to swap the locations of macros on bars, rather than just deleting, copying or pasting) (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/1535-Missing-Interface-Features?p=65381&viewfull=1#post65381)
I'd add 2 more ideas right at this moment that I've wanted for YEARS:
First: Appearance Lock
5 armor slots for "appearance" only, that must be equipable by your current job. Once set, your gear never blinks. "Check" will see your real gear. HOW HARD IS THIS?
2nd: Gear Sets
This wouldn't need any new interface additions. Simply equip the gear you want for a "set" and type /gearset save 1 (through ... 99? or more!)
Now, in macros, it only takes 1 line to change gear by: "/equipset 1"

With zero inside knowledge, but just going off of previous dev posts I would assume the appearance lock would be feasible to implement. They recently added the option for everyone else to appear with starting gear so it seems within the realm of possibility.
I also assume viewing the TP would be possible (and I think it was previously mentioned as part of the new UI update).
I would guess that as wonderful as your idea is about viewing party member buffs, the current UI won't allow it– it seems really strapped for usable memory, and those being bitmap data would probably bog things down to a crawl (imagine abyssea buffs on top of it all). The new UI however might allow for it as I believe the text is no longer rendered as bitmap data and with native Windows fonts, possibly freeing up memory for things like that. I imagine this also holds true for remaining time on status effects.
I bet the area of effect indicator would be extremely time consuming to add for all known abilities (unless there is some sort of global hook for the different types like cone, major AOE, minor AOE etc).
All great ideas.

If they add a big glowing "!" over all quest NPC's, they would HAVE TO add a config button to /block this graphic, for those of us who find this type of gaming insulting to our intelligence,
Exactly how much intelligence does it take to spend an hour or so speaking to each and every NPC in a particular town in the hopes of finding a new quest? And then changing jobs and stating the process over since some quests are triggered by that?
Yeah, fine, include the option to disable it for whatever reason, but "insult your intelligence?" If there's any insult involved it's S-E expecting the playerbase to pay for the hosting, upkeep and maintenance of third-party websites (wikis) with such information so necessary for gameplay.
Suggestion:
Remove all need for previous mission progress from new end game content.
So, no more needing to get sky access before I can complete voidwatch (just let me warp there from the NPC for the first time, like I got to warp to Mount Zhayolm for the first time)
No more needing to get to sea before I can reforge my AF, etc.
No more! Seriously. I am going to quit the game if I'm expected to spend a month of my playtime soloing missions in order to play with my friends.

I was referring to using my intelligence, to check the internet and dialogue with in-game friends and LS. Also when you join this game, you are an "Adventurer." Adventuring by its very nature involves leg-work, running around talking to NPCs. New players (and it would seem some older players) want to have everything automatically laid out for them, in big glowing exclamation marks. But that isn't what being an adventurer in a role-playing game is. Also you have to use online websites, which are essential in any case - for map routes, synthesis, etc. in some of the more confusing areas. FFXI is a huge game and you will always need a monster-sized website to provide the info on all the things that the game doesn't tell you.
Anyway so long as they add a disable toggle I don't care - which is what I already said. You can run around with your glowing "!"s if you want to, but I like the natural atmospheric RPG look of the game, and if I need a guide I will ask a friend on the LS or I use a website.
Le sigh, why is this even still a topic? I edited my original post because ppl were getting so bent out of shape about the whole quest icon. Personally I could care less about it since I use the different wiki sites myself and only suggested for those ppl who at some time on the forums or in my fb group that hate how vague the quest descriptions are and hate having to resort to a wiki to figure out everything. Me personally I have a ton of quests that have been in my quest log for years and I honestly forgot about them so having some sort of reminder or whatever to say "Hey you still have this quest to do" doesn't hurt at all. And for everyone that keeps saying that having a quest icon breaks immersion my question to you is, how is it that having something (quest icon or additional quest log info) to help identify a quest npc breaks your game immersion, but having to stop mid-play every time you go to do a quest and search a wiki for what to do next doesn't? Doesn't make much sense to me. I don't know about you all, but immersion means diddly squat to me if I have to break it and stop mid play just to surf the web for info that even if you speak to a 100 in game NPC's, is not provided by the game itself.

I was replying to the person who pounced on my original post, and he took one line out of context while ignoring the point I was making. He made it into a 'qualify the amount of intellect' issue, when in fact my own view is that RPG games have always incorporated "puzzle solving" and overcoming challenges etc. Back in 2004 when I joined, I would just run around talking to NPC's and trying to use the clues they gave me (which were sometimes incredibly vague or even non-existent) to try and work out where the next stage of the quest was. This is classic puzzle-solving, and has been a key part of gaming for 40 years, especially in RPG virtual-world games. If you don't like talking to NPCs or solving puzzles, then RPG's might not be the best game for you. And the fact that there is a wealth of online data you can access with a mouse-click, so you don't have to solve the problem yourself, makes it even easier.
In my original post all I said was your ideas were great, and that I would only want the "!" thing if I could disable it in config. Because I actually enjoy exploring new areas and chatting with the NPCs and trying to work stuff out myself, whenever possible.
I started like a year before you and I loved adventuring and talking to the npcs and seeing who had something interesting to say, why? Because it's what I was use to in an offline rpg. But afterwhile, for me it got old and tiresome and patience would wear thin. Sure every once in a while I get curious and will talk to a npc or two to see if they every offered anything lore wise or if a new expansion or update is implemented I'll run around talking to the npcs just to see what quests they offer and if the reward is worthwhile. Like I said in an earlier post, I honestly think and am seeing that when you mention quest icons, everyone immediately goes into WoW panic and we all know that's a big no no in FFXI.
Stompa I understand where you're coming from, but think about it. Does it really have to be a big ugly "!" on every npc? It could always be something else or like someone else suggested maybe a different set of map markers offered by a special npc like the ones that mark all the shops and special places to visit. Another thing someone suggested was an expansion to the quest log info. So it doesn't have to be the overused "!" that is in almost every modern day standard MMO.
My point is that my little suggestion is only the kick off and I need you guys help to expand it, make it better, and get it done. I created this thread so that people with ideas and suggestions on how to make the game better and less tedious could voice their suggestions in one big thread like the one on the forum for XIV that the devs could look at and take from, instead of making fifty different threads a day. Don't like WoW or any of it's clones? Fine...screw WoW, but let's help make XI better so that it will survive another 11-12yrs.

Honestly I don't mind how they implement it, with "!" over the head, or a glowing circle under the NPC. Just so long as they add a Disable NPC Icon function in config. They have added Disable Armor which made all player-characters run around in pyjamas, so I don't see why Disable NPC Icon in config would pose a technical problem. <That way> everyone is happy, people can get their 'dog-on-a-leash' style of being walked through the quests using icons (c'mere sparky! arf arf arf!) and those of us who would prefer the actual real-world RPG atmosphere without icons, can toggle it off. So its not even an issue at all, everyone can get what they want if theres a toggle for it.
And really that's fine, both sides of the coin are winners. Really though, I'm about to kill any hopes for my first suggestion of making questing easier as I doubt SE would even bother to implement such a thing. They've already expanded wide scan which makes locating npcs on any job less of a hassle. Not to mention the amount of time it would take to implement this with there being any where from five hundred to over a thousand quests in game, so it would likely be at the bottom of their list of things to do.

A lot of things need to just take less time to obtain...
Mythic weapons are a good example. For many jobs, they aren't very good. However, for some, it's like class defining, and the difference between having one and not having one is insane. A great example is Nirvana, which pushes Avatars to level 121, and has Blood Pact damage +40% on it... and that's just two of the insane stats it has on it. The difference between a Summoner with Nirvana and without Nirvana is ridiculous. It puts the job on a whole other level.
I want Nirvana, but looking at the requirements... it's just not worth it. No one should have to go through that anymore... hours, days, weeks, months of work. Claustrum and Hvergelmir aren't even options in comparison.
While the amount of effort to get it is staggering and the time it takes is crazy, what's worse is the fact that everything is time gated. I can't even work at it at my own pace because I will constantly get stopped. That's not to say that simply removing the time gates would be the remedy... because that's still an enormous amount of work.
It's really demoralizing, and almost makes me not want to play. For SMN, it's a gigantic leap in power that you can basically consider yourself to never have. The amount of effort it takes makes it basically "impossible" to obtain, and yet, it is FAR, FAR beyond anything else in power. Nothing even comes close. I could understand if it's a drop off a really difficult boss, but it's not, it's just a gigantic long chore you have to exhaust days of your life on.

I agree with the first line of your statement, but maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually like how difficult mythic weapons are to obtain. They are truly mythical, and whenever I actually see a character with one, I examine them and stop dead in my tracks lol. And aside from camping the HNMs required for mythics, are they actually difficult to obtain? You can solo assaults and salvage now extremely easily. Don't mythics mainly just take a lot of time?
I think things like empyrean weapons could be tweaked to be able to obtain a little easier (the NM spawn time reduction was a good first step). Obtaining key items from NMS in Abyssea could be made easier– it's difficult to find help for this content now, so I'll often fight these solo either as NIN/WAR which is risky sometimes, or as PUP/WAR and be missing half my procs. I don't mind farming the pop items and fighting the NMs to get the key items to fight the other NMS, but for example- fighting Amarok multiple times without getting the KI for Orthus is very frustrating... just as frustrating as trying to find someone else to fight these in 2014. I won't even touch the heavy metal plate discussion... lol.
I think relic obtainment is fine as it is. It takes some time and/or gil, but it's soloable for the most part without much issue (except for ADL, which even still, I would venture to say is easier to get a static together for to share marrows and/or marrow profits than trying to get people to help with Abyssea content).
I honestly prefer the rarity of these legendary weapons in FFXI to how it could be in another online FF game that will remain nameless where everyone has glowing relics.
I think mythics could remain difficult without being so very ridiculous. The alex requirements alone are ridiculous, let alone all the quests/NMs/events etc.
Honestly given how for the most part R/M/E are not as important anymore, I'd like to see the difficulty of all of them cut in half. I probably still wouldn't work on one, but I might consider it at that point.

Adventuring by its very nature involves leg-work, running around talking to NPCs.
Also you have to use online websites, which are essential in any case - for map routes, synthesis, etc. in some of the more confusing areas.
No. Pick one. Either you do the legwork, you click all the things, you figure out the obscure or non-existent clues like an "adventurer," or you go to somebody else who has figured it all out for you and given you a hand-holding wiki.

Key word: requires. I agree with that 100%.
I think it's totally fine to rely on third party websites for battle strategies, gear recommendations and in general the "finer" points of information. Quest and storyline mission progression should be able to be completed without the use of those sites.
I also think it's worth pointing out that as of late, SE has been rather helpful as far as explaining new content by creating microsites (for things like trust and RoE), and even most of the Seeker's of Adoulin missions (if not all of them) can be completed without having to look them up in a wiki. The NPCs tell you what to do next, and if not telling you specifically where to go, they give enough clues to where you actually can figure it out.

You can solo assaults and salvage now extremely easily. Don't mythics mainly just take a lot of time?Yes, but a literal minimum of around 4 months of doing Assaults every single possible day wasting not even 1 tag, is stupid. To do a Mythic in 4 months you can't miss a day really, 50 Assaults, have to do them twice each which means at very least roughly 3 months and 10 days, then you have to do the Tokens involved in Nyzul Isle, and thats not counting the potential fails on some of the more annoying Assaults like standing with your back to a door while waiting for a monster to shoot a fireball at you to break the gate behind you for instance.
To me part of what makes Mythic requirements stupid is the very thing you said, they are extremely time taking and extremely easy, which to me defeats the point, its giving you something great but its asking you to do months and months of work completing content you could do without breaking a sweat, basically demanding you waste time on easy things and rewarding you if you can waste enough time on it without providing any real challenge to you, and in all honesty I wish they had a version of Assaults for 99 or something that you could do once and get credit for both times or some such, so you can power through it and have some form of challenge rather than just spending months doing old easy things that don't really even matter and only serve to waste your time.
Being rare is fine, its just annoying that its rare not because its hard, not because its difficult, but because most people don't want to spend months upon months of time wasting away doing old content just for a weapon that is so slightly more powerful than the other 119s of today.

Except for some classes (Summoner, Puppetmaster, White Mage) they either offer something that you can't get elsewhere or is far, far beyond anything else you can obtain...
I mean, here, you can have an example. Here is the best staff in the game for physical blood pacts, and then here's Nirvana. Remember, Nirvana's Blood Pact bonus is +40% damage to both magical and physical blood pacts.

WAR, MNK, SAM, DRK, they are damage upgrades but nothing too amazing, BRD, WHM, they have their boosts to their support power but their benefits can be gotten through /SCH Accession or just recasting songs, list goes on, SMN is one of the more powerful weapons and even that can be somewhat done without as you can get a great amount of MAB for your Avatar on a Staff and the Trial Staves still massively help with Perp in the same way. They are upgrades but the amount of time needed is insane~ by compare to what it should be! I mean after all, look at everything else you need on top of Assaults and the fact Assaults take so long seems minor, but no matter what, its the one weapon which forces you to wait months to make it at the very least.

Obtaining mythic is fun :) Because if it's something you can obtain in 1 month of work, the item would lose value. Same reason why ppl irl buy Ferrari, it's ridiculously expensive, most ppl can't probably afford one in their life. That's why it's a goal for many to work hard for. Some ppl try to make insane amount of money to buy things like Ferrari, or mansion.
I never understand the logic behind "Game's no fun because I can't obtain a Mythic" Mythic or any expensive items like Ferrari isn't life necessity. You won't starve to death without one. It's for the people that can afford it. If you find Mythic too hard to obtain, fat chances are you haven't finish every other goal in this game. Why do you need to quit the game without owning a Mythic? You can try to obtain other items.
I don't have a Ferrari irl. Do I WANT a Ferrari? Hell yes. But so what if I want one but can't have it? I have other goals to work on, and I won't starve to death without a Ferrari. You don't see me complain about Ferrari being too expensive irl and want them to lower the price. If one day I make enough money to afford it then I'll buy it, if not then it's no big deal.
Mythic needs time and effort to obtain, just like Ferrari needs tons of money to buy. That way it encourage people to work hard, that's how our society works for ages.
Except for some classes (Summoner, Puppetmaster, White Mage) they either offer something that you can't get elsewhere or is far, far beyond anything else you can obtain...

Being rare is fine, its just annoying that its rare not because its hard, not because its difficult, but because most people don't want to spend months upon months of time wasting away doing old content just for a weapon that is so slightly more powerful than the other 119s of today.
You said "being rare is fine", then you said "it's annoying that it's rare not because it's hard, but because of time required". How about you come up with some idea about how to make an item rare without using time gate? Rare means only a few can have them, but not most of the people, mind you.
If you make an item rare because of 0.1% of drop rate, you'd see people complaining about clearing the same content for 1000 times and 0 drop. Beating a content 1000 times or 10000 times and see no drop is downright more annoying than collecting 30k alex.
If you make an item rare because the NM is near impossible to beat like AV, you'd see people complaining again "OMG SE WHY DO YOU PUT AN NM NOBODY CAN BEAT IN THIS GAME" or something.
If you make an item rare because it drop from very hard fight like Twintania in FFXIV or Delve boss before skill adjustment, you'd see people eventually clear them and it become a common gear. That's the nature of PVE content. Most of the PVE content in an MMO is only hard right after release, after gimmicks are figured out more and more people start to beat the content and obtain them. When NNI was out everyone and their mother yelling at SE for not being able to get them. Now it's a must have for any DD job. When Delve was out everyone was like "Oat so hard to obtain because Tojil is hard!" "Can't obtain top gear in this game without a LS!" After 1 month even the casuals start getting Oat by buying wins, like how people buy NNI wins back then.
You can make a zomg hard PVE content with god like gears. After 2 months someone will beat them, after 3 months all the elite players would have them, after 8 months every casuals and gil buyers would have them, thus not rare anymore.
Oh and not to mention certain jobs don't get invite to the hardest content because only the optimal strategy can beat the hardest PVE content. Next we'd see more ppl QQ about not being able to obtain certain item. "It's not fair that I can't beat this and obtain the item because my main job is PUP/BST/RDM/DNC, when MNK/WHM/BRD clear it easy!"
I see no reasonable way to make an item rare, besides Mythic requirement. Make it drop from PVE content it'd be as common as Oat or Thaumas coat. Make it something like VW lottery No.2 it's ten times worse. Especially if next guy obtain the gear 1/1 and you're 0/1000. Mythic is just as fine as it is. It took me 3 years to finish, personally. I know a few people finished it in like 5 months. It can take years or only half an year depend on how you do it. That's what's good about it, the speed you can obtain mythic isn't entirely related to the job you play, nor your luck, but more about how efficent you can make gil. The item it's still fairly rare, not a common item like Thaumas coat or Oat. So it feel like an accomplishment after it's done. If you go obtain a Thaumas coat or Oat on your alt, I highly doubt it's same level of accomplishment after 45 min of work.
because most people don't want to spend months upon months of time wasting away doing old content just for a weapon that is so slightly more powerful than the other 119s of today.
I spent months and months of time doing easy old content just for a weapon I never use(not "slightly powerful", but never use). I never feel the time is wasted, unless they make mythic obtainable with 15k alex in the future. For me it's a long journey toward a goal. Pretty much everything you do in a video game is "wasting away" I had fun leading my assault staticx2 through 100 assaults, had fun joining 5 different Einherjar LS for ichor and meet many different ppl. I had fun doing collecting token with my nyzul group and help everyone win. Not to mention the time where we have to kill 3 ToAU NM with an alliance when they need multiple pt for it. Not to mention all the help with alexandrite. I made plenty of meaningful connections while doing mythic quest, even if the result is 3 years of my life gone and a nearly useless weapon not alot of ppl have.
If you view 100 assault, nyzul token, collecting titles and 30k alex a chore and wasting time, I suggest you just not to do mythic and pretend it doesn't exist. It's not like mythic is life necessity. That way is better than wanting a Mythic, while pissing at SE for making the requirement such a chore and wasting time for it.
IMO, if you view obtaining a pixel item in an MMO a chore, no matter how easy it is to obtain, there will always be a sense of emptiness after getting them, because you view it as wasting time already. They can make Mythic obtainable in 1 month, you'd just feel 1 month of your life wasted. They can make Mythic obtainable in 2 weeks, and you'd still feel 2 weeks of your life wasted.
If you view Mythic an ultimate goal, only come after a long journey, then months and months of work doing easy content is more fulfilling than 2 weeks of work doing harder content, IMO.
I've beat many PVE content that's quite challenging in the past, VD AA, 3 delve bosses before skill update, legion hall of Mul, NNI when it was just out and so on. None of the items from other hard PVE content is as fulfilling as finishing a Mythic, even if Mythic is easier.

The point is to stop people from considering it unless you're damn serious about it. I'd consider making 2nd or 3rd Mythic if they lower the requirement. But then it'd defeat the purpose of Mythic obtainable by only a few. I'd rather have mythic stay as time consuming as it is now and stop thinking about getting more of them.
It's not like you'd run out of stuff to do in this game if you're not working on a mythic. If mythic is the only thing in this game for you to do, then at least your complaint would be legit because you'd have nothing else to do besides mythic. As it stands now, if you can't afford a Mythic, work on something else.

You said "being rare is fine", then you said "it's annoying that it's rare not because it's hard, but because of time required". How about you come up with some idea about how to make an item rare without using time gate?Well in all honesty I see no reason multiple paths of obtainment can not be had. For instance, if you wish to spend a long time doing insanely easy content with no real challenge involved and only your time needing to be taken up in order to obtain it, well, you can do what is available now. If you want to do something hard to obtain it, but, you will be challenged and surely rewarded for your skill if you can complete it, then that is a path you may also choose. You quoted the part at the end of my post, but left out this part which came not long before it.
I wish they had a version of Assaults for 99 or something that you could do once and get credit for both times or some such, so you can power through it and have some form of challenge rather than just spending months doing old easy things that don't really even matter and only serve to waste your time.Which is part of what I am saying here. In all honesty you glorify Mythics as something difficult to obtain, I see it rather differently, anyone who wants a Mythic, can get a Mythic, there is nothing hard or special about it, the only thing that stops you from making a Mythic is the time you're willing to waste doing the same events over and over again that are meant for a person literally almost 50 levels under you, even if you do Salvage II for your Alexandrites, Odin II for your Ichor, it makes little difference, your true achievement is nothing more than the ability to say you wasted away a certain degree of time doing these events, you achieved nothing special, you proved no special level of skill, you just did old events a lot of times, whup te do, there is no glory or achievement in that.
I do not mean to seem condescending about it, I myself am working on 3 Mythics, one for me, my friend, and my GF, and I am for the most part getting stuck doing a great majority of the work, due to the other two having the inability to play often enough to keep up with things easily, so in the event we do not do Assaults on a given day or miss Salvage, I often have to do two or three runs of Salvage, and end up double or triple boxing Assaults so I can get things done toward them. It is for this very reason I realise the mediocrity of these 'challenges' laid out for us in order to obtain these weapons.
I hate your comparison by the way, the idea that people want things just because others don't have them, or they are uncommon, in all honesty I hate that mentality unless its something literally meaningless besides having something you know few have such as titles, but I know also that not a single person agrees with me on that really so its a pointless argument. In either case, the whole idea that just because most can't have a Mythic, you want one, is quite frankly insulting to me, because I find that a very greedy and selfish thing, I hate that kind of sentiment. My reasons for wanting a Murgleis are simply because I want a sword that is not only great for my RDM, but also shows my dedication to RDM, and be it as annoying as a Mythic is now, or as simple as a Relic is, my dedication would be shown all the same to me, because people would see I went out of my way to make a weapon meant specifically for RDM. In all honesty, at this point I am suffering through the annoyance of making a Mythic because the people around me want them, and, well, I am being dragged along, I may as well make my own anyways even if I don't really feel like it due to the fact I see and understand what I perceive as stupid wastes of my time that I am being made to go through in order to get it.

You quoted the part at the end of my post, but left out this part which came not long before it.Which is part of what I am saying here.
1.Multiple path to obtain a weapon doesn't make the weapon rare, it makes the weapon more common. All the hardcore will finish it in a short time, and all the casuals will pay for merc to finish in the short time too. Then all the avg player who can't afford merc gonna finish it in the end too.
2.You said you want a mythic to show your dedication on RDM, that's the same mentality as "most can't have a mythic thus you want one", lol. If Mythic is as common as spark weapons, then it doesn't show any dedication at all.....anyone can spend 30 min and get one. Mythic only shows dedication because most ppl who doesn't care about their RDM won't bother to get one. If it's more common, ppl with RDM leeched to lv 99 would have one just for fun.
Personally I think ppl who's dedicated to one job, their job should stand out instead of same as everyone else's. That's how rl works, someone practiced piano for 10 years plays piano better than another person practice for 3 months. If everyone can obtain a mythic then it show zero dedication to obtain one.
Btw, I never claim anything like "everyone can't have nice thing except me mwhahahah", I said ppl who worked hard toward their goal should be rewarded, and ppl who spent tons of time/effort work toward their goal should get better reward than others. Ppl who does not invest time/effort should not have. I don't see anything selfish nor greedy with that. In fact it's vice versa. If I burn my RDM to lv 99 in 3hr and never care about it, do you think I deserve good RDM reward? I can misuse the term greedy and selfish like you, claim whoever wants easy top tier weapon without wanting to invest time are greedy too?

No. Pick one. Either you do the legwork, you click all the things, you figure out the obscure or non-existent clues like an "adventurer," or you go to somebody else who has figured it all out for you and given you a hand-holding wiki.
If gameplay requires third-party sources of information, gameplay is broken.
More like the gameplay is "broken" because it fits your POV toward broken gameplay.
This game never "require" 3rd pt sources. Wiki are written by other players too, and they write down the info without having 3rd pt source to help them. If they're given a quest, they look for where to go and what to do next by clicking everything.
Majority of the players look at 3rd pt sources because it saves time, but technically you CAN complete them without looking at wiki if you do it like other players who clear it before everyone else, which is to click all the things.
I'd say it's not very friendly nor accessable to the majority, doesn't mean it's "broken". If a quest can't be completed due to glitch, that's "broken".
Personally I need a strategy guide when I play harder games like Dark Souls, because without a guide I'd have to die over and over and over again in boss fights until I find the boss mechanics because the game doesn't tell me how to beat the boss. With a strategy it saves a lot of time for me. That doesn't mean Dark Souls has a broken gameplay. I CAN just death grind all the way to beat boss if I want to, but strategy guide saves time, thus I choose to read them.
FFXI is same deal.

Yes if you really want a relic or mythic or emperian weapon there is a lot of work just to get the "base" weapon where it actually is usefull. For both mythic and relic this is at or almost at the end of their quest line which is lv 75. There is still a lot of time and effort to waste to get these to 99+. Thus still a lot of dedication in making it the best it can be. It can be hard at times to get anyone to help with doing these events because so many don't want to do these events anymore even if they are super easy to do at level 99.
I don't remember if you can do this yet or not but as an idea about adventure fellow npcs is being able to change their face and hair type without having to start over. Also an AI update to them. The trust mage npcs remove debuffs faster than your adventure fellow does. Even when you are in good health but have a dot on you, you might drop into the yellow before your adventure fellow takes it off. Which would be then make them still ignore the debuff and heal you instead because of how their AI works. This can be troublesome if they are low on mp.

You said you want a mythic to show your dedication on RDM, that's the same mentality as "most can't have a mythic thus you want one", lol. If Mythic is as common as spark weapons, then it doesn't show any dedication at all.....anyone can spend 30 min and get one. Mythic only shows dedication because most ppl who doesn't care about their RDM won't bother to get one. If it's more common, ppl with RDM leeched to lv 99 would have one just for fun.Allow me to elaborate since you did not understand what I meant. When I say I want it to show my dedication to RDM, I am referring to the fact I would make a weapon specifically for RDM, and a blade at that. Ever since I made Excalibur every person who has seen it and said anything to me often assumes the blade was meant for my PLD rather than RDM, and I simply use it on RDM as well, which is the same thing people thought about my Almace as well, that it was for my PLD & BLU rather than RDM & I simply got extra use out of it. If I made a Murgleis no one can mistake my intentions, no one can think I mean for another job to benefit from it, the Sword would be purely for RDM and no one could ever question that fact.
Secondly, contrary to what you seem to believe, I do not want Mythics to become a weapon every single person has for all of their leached jobs any more than I want it to be a weapon class that only 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 people will ever have, I simply don't care who has it and who doesn't. I also fail to see how changing the recast on Assault takes to something like 6 hours or 8 hours through KIs, which would drive the time needed at very least down to around 25 days at best, would make it so everyone has a Mythic. The fact of the matter is you would still have Alexandrite, a ton of Assaults to do, the Kings, Odin, the Chariots, the Ichor, the Tokens, ZNMs, PW, WS Killing Blows, and Beits, before you could finish the weapon. Even if you make Assaults go by in less than 3 months, 10 days, even if you make Kings actually bareable rather than the stupid way they are now, even if you change Alexandrite to only 10k rather than 30k, its not as though a Mythic instantly becomes easier to build than a Relic, or even about the same as a Relic, the fact you need so many things from so many places and next to none of it can be bought will always make a Mythic harder than a Relic is to make, that is, if you want to associate any of this with difficulty.
Personally I think ppl who's dedicated to one job, their job should stand out instead of same as everyone else's. That's how rl works, someone practiced piano for 10 years plays piano better than another person practice for 3 months. If everyone can obtain a mythic then it show zero dedication to obtain one.If someone practiced piano for 10 years they would be better, yes, but thats nothing to do with this at all, this is the same as saying I played RDM for years, someone who has played it for months will not be as good. Nothing in real life demands months of time to obtain it without improving your skills or requiring much skill in the first place, and at the same time will reward you with something only a few people in the world have, it just doesn't happen in our world really so a comparison for that won't really work well.
Btw, I never claim anything like "everyone can't have nice thing except me mwhahahah", I said ppl who worked hard toward their goal should be rewarded, and ppl who spent tons of time/effort work toward their goal should get better reward than others.I never said that was your mentality either. I was saying that with your Ferrari comparison you made it sound as though the reason why someone would want a Mythic or a Ferrari would be because hardly anyone has one, I myself, find this to be completely wrong, and in all honesty, I would sooner sell the car to you then I would keep it for myself if I had one because I have no use for it. That is neither here nor there though, the point was simply that the way you made it sound is that people want them because they are so few and far between, which could not be further from the truth in my case, their commonality does not bother me, just like how I see Excalibur's all over the place and have not been bothered a single time, I made my Excalibur over 6 months of work, longer than the average person, and I value it greatly, no matter if 10 people have it or 10,000 people have it, I value that weapon no less.
Also a side note that I suppose probably hurts my argument a bit is that since RDMs are so few and far between themselves these days, or at least, committed RDMs, my weapon would likely be just as rare as it is now since no one would make it, the only benefit is a 30 Magic Acc upgrade, nothing more really.
Ppl who does not invest time/effort should not have. I don't see anything selfish nor greedy with that. In fact it's vice versa. If I burn my RDM to lv 99 in 3hr and never care about it, do you think I deserve good RDM reward? I can misuse the term greedy and selfish like you, claim whoever wants easy top tier weapon without wanting to invest time are greedy too?Well I would say people who want it to be lowered just because they want the weapons and thats that are greedy and selfish in that want, they are asking the game to be changed on the basis of gimmy gimmy, which is just as bad. What I am saying however is that if you look at the game, I doubt many people would ever say that 3 months 10 days for a single part of the overall quests required to obtain a Mythic is at all justified, just like the 30,000 Alexandrites, the 3 Kings who pop only once a Maintenance or whenever they feel like it, it seems, in all honesty the quest and all its requirements are horrible and none of it is hard to do so its literally a giant quest begging you to waste time on ancient events for a super weapon.
If you look at a Mythic, compared to Relic they made it more annoying in every way. For Relic you have to obtain 18,000 Currency, all of which comes from areas that a person can solo for 200~400 a run, breaking that down to around 300 average across 60 days. Mythics require 30,000 Alexandrites, all of which comes from areas that a person can solo for 100~200 a run, breaking that down to around 150 average across 200 days, more than triple a Relic. Relics require a minimum wait time of 14 or so days, even if you have all currency already as well as all items, Mythics require a minimum wait time of 100+ days even if you have everything else ready before touching Assaults, with nothing but them left to do. Relics require you to kill 2 NMs in Dynamis, Mythics require you to kill 4 NMs in Salvage, 1 in Einherjar, 3 in normal areas with the most impossible to predict respawn times in the game, and 3 ZNMs. Relics require you to obtain junk items to trade in along side your weapon to upgrade it, Mythics require Tokens and Ichor from level 75 events. Not to mention that Relics require Rank 6, whereas Mythics require you to complete an entire storyline. Just drawing lines between them, even if you lowered the requirements or made the Mythic requirements a bit easier, it would by no means make them as easy or easier than Relics, Alexandrite alone will see to it that unless supply is increased more than 3 times as high as it is now from runs, that they never will become as common as Relics.

Windows game client:
Uncapping, or raising the framerate? Is this even technically possible?
Updating the graphics engine to take advantage of GPU features such as anti-aliasing? Is this even possible with the current engine?
I personally think FFXI's graphics have amazingly held up well over the years, and still look great on a small laptop screen, but on a mid-sized HD display, the game is a little rough to look at. I think a smoother/faster framerate, smoothed edges, and some of the other niceties that come from GPU acceleration would go a long way without having to re-do textures, models, etc which would understandably be an extremely time and resource consuming process.
Just curious if this is even in the realm of possibility now with PS2 officially unsupported.

Having a mythic weapon doesn't show you have skill, or are good at the game, or anything. It shows you're willing to waste hours and hours of your life working in a game (hint: it's not fun to do this) to get a weapon.
The problem with it is the fact that it's not only the best weapon for some classes (SMN) but it's FAR, FAR beyond anything else in the game. Something is wrong with balance and design when a weapon moves your class from being frowned upon to being wanted in parties. Just one weapon.
There is NO REASON for it to take this long anymore. Back in the day you could work on it while still getting relevant gear, can do it in parties with your friends, and it was fun. It was challenging. It took forever, but it made sense, and you would be doing that content anyways. That is not the case anymore even in the slightest.
Anyone who thinks it should still take this long is wearing nostalgia goggles or has one and wants others to feel the pain it took to get one.

This game never "require" 3rd pt sources. Wiki are written by other players too, and they write down the info without having 3rd pt source to help them.
Except for the numerous times not even that is enough. Discerning most latents takes an explicitly unauthorized third-party tool of some sort, a parser at minimum. Figuring out "Doctor" status at a Strange Apparatus is a one-in-one-hundred-million shot. Hell, before they let you change map pages, simply finding a Strange Apparatus involved pushing against walls that you'd otherwise have no reason to believe were fake.
A more recent example for me was Abyssea quest "Gift of Light." "Go find so-and-so, he's east of here." No, he's not. I had no reason to believe I had to click on random ???'s, which are not exactly an uncommon thing in an Abyssea area.
If they're given a quest, they look for where to go and what to do next by clicking everything.
At this point in the game's history, "clicking everything" would be a full-time job (or require a bot).
I'd say it's not very friendly nor accessable to the majority, doesn't mean it's "broken". If a quest can't be completed due to glitch, that's "broken".
You're right, "broken" is the wrong word. "Broken" implies there was ever a time it wasn't. The correct word is "flawed." It's a bad design and problems have only been compounded through the 11 years of new stuff piled on top of it.
And even "flawed" is generous, since that suggests that it wasn't S-E's intent to hide such information in order to drive the sales of authorized strategy guides (which are likely JP-only at this point).

This is RPG, how good your CHARACTER is at one thing IS depend on your stat, and your stat came from gears. Pure skill wise, this game doesn't need more than a few day to master a job, it's not a FPS nor FTG, this game simply doesn't require skill that much. If how good your CHARACTER is at one job is not depend on gear, technically everyone can leech RDM up in 1 day, practice playing it for 3 days, and play as good as dedicated RDM.
What seperates a serious RDM player and a leech RDM, is the gear, and it should be gear but not skill. Since the skill cap of this game is low to begin with. I feel someone who is really serious about a job, needs something that requires tons of effort to obtain to begin with. Mythic in this game is the only gear left because everything else can be obtained in weeks.
I never said that was your mentality either.
YOU have no use to it, doesn't mean other people don't want one, and that doesn't mean they're greedy/selfish to want one. What you're trying to do here is to force everyone else to have the same opinion toward rare items like you, then label anyone with different POV selfish/greedy.
Wanting something nobody else have isn't selfish. It's human nature to like rare items or be unique pretty snowflake. As long as they deserve the item, then it isn't selfish. If I cheated for a Ferrari, then I'm selfish and greedy. If I earn enough money to buy one fair and legit, then it's not selfish. Not wanting to Ferrari to lower the price because I think Ferrari should remain "car for rich people" isn't selfish because Ferrari isn't life necessity, you have cheaper cars to buy if you need a car. Not wanting life necessity such as food/house to lower the price is selfish/greedy.
I nail down the fundamental of expensive items. Ok, you don't like to have expensive items to exist so everyone is equal, I don't agree with you. I think everyone should not be equal, because that's how our society/community works, an equal society/community simply doesn't work very well because not everyone is like you.
Btw, last time when someone claimed it's better for everyone to be equal, they invented something called communism, and it didn't work very well.
Having a mythic weapon doesn't show you have skill, or are good at the game, or anything. It shows you're willing to waste hours and hours of your life working in a game (hint: it's not fun to do this) to get a weapon.

I replied WHY it needs to take long pages back. But I'll repeat again because you don't read them it seems.
1. Having it drop from "hard" content that requires skill will make it as common as Oat or thaumas coat. Thus defeat the purpose of Mythic being rare.
2. Having a weapon takes "long time" to get, instead of "being good at the game", reflected how it takes "long time" to improve your skill in a world. Simply because the skill cap of this game is low.
This is RPG, RPG= life simulator. Thus everything you do should be simulating living a life in a virtual world.
If this game is FTG or RTS, or chess, only professional players are good, and it needs 30hr a week of practice to be that good. Then type of game like that can really seperate who's good and who's bad by real skill.
But this is RPG, and not even a skill based RPG with slow paced combat system, you simply can't seperate players by skill. If every gears are easy to obtain, a player that plays 1hr a day can literally be as good as players who plays 3hr a day by wearing the exactly same thing. In the end everyone who plays the game 7hr a day would be as good as 1~2hr a day player, created a world where everyone is equal.
RPG is supposed to be a life simulator, a world where everyone is equal doesn't fit the def of it. Someone who play the game 7hr a day should have stronger character than someone playing 1hr a day, in a RPG. Like how someone who plays piano/FTG/RTS 7hr a day should play better than someone play 1hr a day, and so on.
3. You keep complaining about "getting X gear is just waste hours and hours of time", THAT is the fundamental of any RPG, do easy stuff for hours and hours of time for your characters to get stronger. Lving a character is pretty much "waste hours and hours of time" killing shit to get stronger. Getting item is "wasting hours and hours of time" too. Even if the requirement is reduced to 1 week of work, it's still "wasting hours and hours of time". Except you "waste" 1 week of your time instead of 5 months.
I'm going to guess RPG isn't type of game for you, if getting gear is "wasting hours and hours of time" for you. You should play games that your character strength is completely depend on skill, and let you kill boss from the start, such as FTG or RTS or ACT. But not RPG, in which your character strength shouldn't be depend on skill, but time spent on it. If you view doing easy stuff in RPG to improve your character "wasting time", no matter how fast you can obtain a mythic, you'd still view it as wasting time.
Due to the above reason, I say yes Mythic should need 5 months to obtain. Unless someone can convince me how'd a game where everyone is equal a better life simulator than everyone not equal.
Oh and btw, I'm not wearing nostalgia goggles at all. I've played many, many RPG in my life. I find FFXI the only RPG that's cloest to ideal "life simulator" just because epic rare item exist and everyone is different. It's my POV toward what should a RPG be. If I want a game where everyone's equal and rare item has no value, I wouldn't be playing FFXI to begin with. "Everyone is different" is the main reason why I find this game fun to play with.
I'm also not "wanting everyone else to feel the pain it took to get one". I think everyone should be different in this game, and certain items should be rare. Just find no other way to keep an item rare unless it requires large amount of time. If I want everyone to suffer from the pain, I'd suggest dev to put 4th legendary weapon 0.0000000000000000000001% of drop rate from a NM lol.
If there are other ways to make the mythic process more "fun", such as making assault V2 salvage V3 Nyzul V4, or able to complete requirement by doing current content, I'm all for that. I even suggested dev to make alex drop from SoA content ages ago instead of cutting the requirement into half lol. I don't mind Mythic more "fun" to obtain, as long as it still takes 5 months~1+ year. You can just have months and months of "fun" if you want. But asking Mythic obtainable in shorter amount of time, thus kills it's rarity is no no.

Honestly I don't even think your issue with the Mythic is "it takes long", but it's "It's not fun". If it's fun but it takes 1+ year, will you still do it, or not? If yes then instead of coming to the forum and suggest dev to cut the requirement by half, you should suggest the dev by making the requirement possible to complete by doing content that's more fun while spending same amount of time.
If your issue is "it takes long", then honestly MMORPG isn't type of game for you. The nature of MMORPG, espeically a MMORPG with a sub fee like this, is supposed to be "your home" and takes a long time to play. The goal should be keeping players occupied, not letting players complete every goal in a short amount of time and quit.
Instead of complaining about "This game takes too long to play, let's cut the time of getting a goal done by half" and in the end still have no fun and feel time wasted, may as well give better suggestion like "This game takes too long to play, let's find some way to improve the gameplay make every min enjoyable"
As stated before, I don't mind Mythic being fun to obtain. I don't mind it's 1+ year of work but every moment working on it being enjoyable. But making Mythic 1 month of work instead of 1 year and ended up as common as Oat/Thaumas isn't the right way to go. It's not like making it 1 month instead of 1 year solve any issue of you feel time wasted. You'd just feel time wasted for 1 month instead of 1 year. I don't see time gate being an issue too, unless you have nothing else to do but Mythic. You can work on other gears during down time lol.
However if you can't accept the concept of "playing MMORPG"= your 2nd home and only want to complete a weapon ASAP then quit, then this isn't the game for you.

YOU have no use to it, doesn't mean other people don't want one, and that doesn't mean they're greedy/selfish to want one. What you're trying to do here is to force everyone else to have the same opinion toward rare items like you, then label anyone with different POV selfish/greedy.Not really, I already said my reason for saying its selfish or greedy is because the way you make it sound is that people mostly want Mythics because few people have them, I see this as selfish because it's basically saying that the primary reason to have it is so you can make yourself feel good knowing you are 1 of 100 people out of 10,000 people to have something, you're part of the 1% of players, yay. The other thing I said was selfish or greedy was asking for changes to be made, or not be made, only based on your own ideas and how you feel about something. The grand majority of people I know who have talked to me about Mythics before have agreed with me that Mythics take far too long for the content they require, in all honesty I think most people would look at the end of my previous post where I compared Relics to Mythics, and likely think the same.
What I am talking about here when it comes to Mythics isn't just what I think on the subject but the majority of what I have heard from various people. I have not met anyone in game who actually seems to think that 100 Assaults, 30,000 Alexandrites, and the 3 Beastmen Kings alone are actually well designed, let alone the rest of the requirements on top of them that push it far beyond the other two weapons in terms of annoyance and time wasted.
Not wanting life necessity such as food/house to lower the price is selfish/greedy.Here we have to simply agree to disagree, because I think any amount of money paid for things that are completely wasteful such as what you are talking about, a sporty car that will do no better for you really than a normal car, and I see any acts of purchase of these kinds of items as selfish, no different than I see something like Afterglow, which I see as something else selfish to buy, and is actually another of those stupidly time taking things, but, admittedly that's near worthless so I hardly care about it, if you want to argue to keep that as it is you will hear no argument from me.
I nail down the fundamental of expensive items. Ok, you don't like to have expensive items to exist so everyone is equal, I don't agree with you. I think everyone should not be equal, because that's how our society/community works, an equal society/community simply doesn't work very well because not everyone is like you.I think people should be rewarded for time put in, but what you are talking about and what I am talking about are two different things, I already explained at the end of my last post the differences between Mythics and Relics, and even pointed out in the end that unless you increased supply by over 3 times, you would not actually see Mythics pop up as commonly as Relics, not even close.
Now if you take Assaults down to a single month to finish them all, take out everything else besides Alexandrites, and increase Alexandrite supply by 4 times, and maybe you will see them as commonly as Relics, because you would then walk out of Salvage with around 500 a run, thats about 1.6% of what you need for a full Mythic, if you do 300 currency a run in Dynamis you get around 1.6 of a Relic's currency a run. After that though you are still talking about an extra two weeks per weapon, but I guess thats kind of small. In either case, thats gutting the entire quest and assuming at the same time that you would not have to deal with either congestion or prices remaining as high as they are, as you would need them to go down to about 1/4th of what they are right now on Phoenix to buy them with the same amount of money as well.
Look, the point I'm getting at is that Mythics already take a lot more than Relics, fear of their commonality is foolish because even if they made tags 1/6 hours rather than 1/24 hours, decreased the Alexandrite cost to 10,000, and made the Kings reasonable, it would not make Mythics common, they would still be rare, just not as rare, but what they lack in rarity would be made up for in the fact that every Mythic is unique, 1 per job, the rarity would not be so much the class of weapon but the weapon itself, people would have to pick and choose rather than Relics where many are multiple jobs or Empyreans which are the same way.
Also unless you plan to address the key points in my post, please don't bother replying to me.

Dear Afania,
Have you somehow not noticed that in XI gear has never equated to skill in this game? Because this game has been plagued by people who can be wearing the best gear and still suck at playing their job. Even as some have already suggested cutting the amount of alexandrite and ichor would still take you a while to get the BASE weapon. Then you still have to work even longer to get it to 99 and then do whatever it is that SE wants you to do inorder to make it ilv119. Cutting back a little on what require to get a mythic does not equate to everyone and their sister owning one. Some people will still never go and make one just because it's not the newest thing. Others might be on a server that they never hit their section's prime time so finding people to do something like a mythic would not be something they would go for because of the time frame they have.

Every discussion of Mythics is basically dozens of players looking for the most polite way to say, "Obtaining a Mythic should be easy for me but impossible for everyone else."
I really don't understand why this is such a big deal to everybody. Every Mythic is what it is and costs what it costs. Some are excellent options in the modern era, and some are not. If you feel like the cost of building a Mythic is too high relative to the power/benefits of the weapon, don't build it. If you feel it's fair, build one. It's like every other piece of equipment you have the option of obtaining.
What I keep seeing is, "I want a Mythic, but I don't want to spend all that time and money on one." Everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to do what it takes to get there.
Plus (asking sincerely), in the age of Heavy Metal Plates and Plutons for 150k (not to mention dirt cheap Beitetsu and Boulders), is a Mythic still really the most expensive weapon to take to iLvl, in terms of time and money? I mean, you need nearly 200 NM kills for an Empyrean weapon, each of which requires one-to-three only-hold-one-at-a-time pop items that requires proc'ing, and that's before you even fight the darn things. Is that really more annoying than 50 Assaults? At least the Assaults have a little variety.

It is more than 50 assaults though. You need captain rank which means doing enough assaults or nyzul to rank up which is 25points then do each rank up quest. Some involving finding everyone's favourite mysterious hoof prints that could be anywhere. All three beast men leaders. Then the quest asks you to do all fifty assaults you can only four a day if you remember to pick up your tags. You have to beat each section of salvage get through einherjar and beat Odin. Get 30k alexandrite, 150k tokens, and 100k ichor. Read many runs of the events that drop/reward these until you have enough or bought enough. Again can only do nyzul or assaults as many times that you have tags for. Can only do salvage once a day and that takes up assault points to do so. Einherjar takes 60k gil just to go inside and can only do this every 20 minutes after leaving the chamber they were in.
Might have to take a break here and there to farm. After you finish that step you get to go take pictures of mobs so you can get enough to do ZNMs yay!!! Which has it's own tiers and can't do the nms you need until you have done nine other nms for each of the three nms you need an item off from. So 30 nms total followed by a fight and you get a nude mythic yay! Then trade your weapon to a tombstone get your full mythic and wait a JP midnight to complete the quest.
The only thing I can think of pre abyssea part of an empyrean weapon that might take a few days depending on the nm you get sent after are the ones that have whacky respawn timers. The vnms are pretty quick to get done in a short amount of time.
Once inside abyssea the only weapons that might take a bit to get past the first of the three are the three weapons that need fistule as he is a 30min respawn. Though hey after the 2nd aby nm you actually get a weapon that does the ws thus a functioning weapon. It also starts ten leves higher than their mythic and relic counterparts. At this point you probably have spent less time and money than someone going for either of the other two. Now if you are soloing this and not trying to get the procs to increase the chance of the KIs to pop your nms then that is on you and not the game.

To be fair mythic is stupid easy from 75 to 99. Relic has marrows. And empy hmp and rifts or dross. Most empys wont go past 90.

True most wont but to me the argument is which one takes longer to obtain. You can stop an empy at 85 since you have the weapon skill and aftermath. You can't have a mythic with stats until you have done the full quest. Vs being able once inside aby to beat your nm(s) multiple times in a day. Heck a working relic outside if dynamis happens before you complete the quest. Now if we are saying they are not complete till they are "done" thus both quests are done for relic and mythic and empy just got to 99 I still think myth is still longer.

I pretty much agree with Afania on everything. Anybody who wants to make a Mythic can make one. Or don't, you'll never be booted out of a group for not having one. The effort is significant, but the reward is also significant and it's one of the last truly significant accomplishments in the game.
Aside from that, the effort/reward is much better than Empyrean weapons and comparable to Relics. In many cases, these are the best weapons in the game.
Put a gun to my head and I'll say fix ToAU spawn conditions and give us more Assault tags. Other than that, don't change a thing.

These statements alone show me you are in no position to make any sort of informed or intellectual decision on this matter. I was going to read your post(s) and respond appropriately (I skimmed and saw these lines), but it would be a waste of time. I'm not interested in your flawed misinterpretation of a game, or any opinions related to it.
It's not "my opinion is flawed", it's YOUR opinion toward RPG is differnt from mine. Fine, don't hear it, but I'm still not going to agree with your opinion lol. IMO, your opinion is just as flawed.

, I see this as selfish because it's basically saying that the primary reason to have it is so you can make yourself feel good knowing you are 1 of 100 people out of 10,000 people to have something, you're part of the 1% of players, yay. The other thing I said was selfish or greedy was asking for changes to be made, or not be made, only based on your own ideas and how you feel about something.
I don't agree with everything else you said, but I don't think I can change your mind. So I'm only going to address the above 2 point.
1. I never consider myself to be 1% and never really feel good about my life in FFXI. I often feel I'm behind everyone else lol. But even then, you have a very negative POV toward "Wanting to be 1% and feel good."
It is not a crime to want to be better than others at something and feel good, it's only a crime if I'm better than others AND act cocky about it. It's part human nature to more or less want to do something better than others, and feel accomplished after the goal is accomplished. There may be some ppl never want to do stuff better than others, but there are also ppl that's not like that, I'd say majority.
You mentioned "wanting to do something better than others and feel good" in such a negative way. But it's not always THAT negative. I may want to do something better than others and feel good about what I accomplished, but I may go out and help others to improve and do it as good as myself. And also feel accomplished when I see others to do something as good. I see nothing negative about it.
On the other hand, if I do something better than others, and go out and laugh at everyone else that's worse than me, and refuse to help others to improve, THAT's selfish.
If I own a Mythic, and go "mwhahaha I'm better than everyone else cuz I have mythic, NOOOO I'm not helping everyone else to obtain a mythic so only I have mythic". THAT is selfish. If I go out and help others to finish a Mythic so they can feel as accomplished, then it's NOT selfish.
However, if I pop on a forum and ask dev to cut the requirement so I can have a mythic without spending time, THAT is selfish. Because I just devalued the mythic of OTHER people to suit my need so I can have one. Item value=based on rarity. There are ppl who spent years to do mythic just because it's Mythic. By asking the requirement to cut in half so I can have one, I just trashed other mythic owner's work.
If you still don't accept the above opinion toward being selfish, then idk what to say.
2. Everyone have their own idea of what makes better game and what does not. I asked for the changes about what not to be make, is as legit/selfish as ppl wanting mythic requirement to cut in half to suit their needs. I can argue that whoever wants mythic requirement to cut in half is also selfish too.

How would mythic requirement easy for 1 person but impossible for everyone else lol. Mythic requirement is the same for everyone. If I'm doing one I need 100 assualts, 30k alexandrite and so on. Same requirement as every other hardcore and casual.
If it's getting tojil clear or AA VD clear maybe I CAN argue the difficulty is different for everyone, because everyone play different jobs. Mythic doesn't even have job/race requirement....

By asking the requirement to cut in half so I can have one, I just trashed other mythic owner's work.First off, I am not asking the requirement to be cut in half, you're not reading my posts, I said reduce the Assault Tag timer to 6 hours via KIs and fix ToAU kings to pop properly, as well as potentially cutting the Alex down to a smaller amount such as 10,000. This is not by any means half, the work required to obtain is basically the same as it is how, its just in a smaller period of time.
Secondly, asking for something to be changed for your benefit alone is as selfish as asking for everything to stay the same because you want your Mythic to be special. I have said multiple times that I know and have met many people who have a similar mindset to mine, that Mythics are stupid for making you do a ton of old content for months in order to obtain one. I am here voicing my particular stance on it, but, I am addressing the issues that the majority of us have agreed upon at one time or another on the subject, I do not speak for them, but I am echoing some amount of their sentiments. Now if you want to argue that you're doing a similar thing with your 'Mythic must stay rare and thus it has to stay super time taking' but I somewhat doubt it because even the majority of people I know with Mythics have often told me they think the requirements were stupid in the first place, but ok, neither of us are selfish in that instance.
Thirdly, I say again, if you want a super rare item that few have, Afterglow exists just for you, I hate it just as much as I hate the idea of this being rare just for rarity sake, but, I don't care because its worthless, if you want something rare its your prize.
Lastly, some jobs only have Mythics, no Relic, no Empyrean, which is another part of why Mythics should be adjusted, so all jobs have a reasonable goal to pursue, rather than something like COR either being stuck with a normal 119 weapon, or, going through the entire process of making a Mythic for a weapon that can only ever be used on COR, not even their RNG.
All I see on the forum is "Cut Mythic requirement by half so I can own a mythic, wait you already wasted years of your life doing the longer requirement? Too bad for you, idc as long as I can have mythic too, oh and you're selfish/foolish/dumb/w/e if you want me to go through the work of Mythic."Explain to me how it belittles whatever accomplishment you feel you made in wasting all of that time. I am asking for the quest not to suck ass and be a waste of time, I already explained I am in the middle of making 3~9 Mythics, if you think I do not understand the requirements then you're simply not paying attention, but seeing as you have seemingly ignored half of what I have said, no surprise.

First you claimed you didn't ask the requirement to cut in half, then asked the alex requirement to be 1/3 of it is now, some logic lol.
You asked the requirement to cut MORE THAN HALF basically, it's the longest requirement for the majority.
Secondly, asking for something to be changed for your benefit alone is as selfish as asking for everything to stay the same because you want your Mythic to be special.
This is incorrect, I've been asking mythic NOT to change requirement BEFORE I have one. Even if I never want to work for one, I still don't want it to change. I don't just create a character with Mythic in inv at lv 1, there's a pretty long period of time I have no Mythic too, and I'm perfectly fine with not being 1% if I don't work for it.
As stated before, everyone have their own opinion toward what makes the game more fun. IMO, MMORPG with social hierarchy is more interesting than MMORPG without. Even if I ended up on the lower end of hierarchy, I'd still play a game with social hierarchy and just be happy to be on the lower end. Whether I'm 1% of player or 99% of player, the game is still more interesting with hard to obtain epic items. I picked FFXI as my main MMORPG, because having social hierarchy made the game interesting to me. If I want a game without epic item, I'd just play other games.
I see nothing "selfish" about asking FFXI to be FFXI, a game I loved. Why'd I pop on a forum and ask dev to change FFXI into another game I don't like? It does not hurt anyone's benefit by asking dev to keep this game the way it is because I liked how it was. If you don't like what makes FFXI FFXI, play FFXIV.
What are you talking about, lol. COR has empy, and current weapon that's on top isn't legendary. Whoever goes through the entire process of making a Mythic for a COR do it for a COR. RNG with no access isn't relevant. You said you want every job to have reasonable goal to pursue, which I fully agree on, and it's been my main point entire time. But cutting mythic requirement by half does not provide a reasonable goal, it devalues the goal. If you really care about certain job needs a reasonable goal, you should ask the dev to make 4th legendary with same requirement as relic, not devalue current goal.
Explain to me how it belittles whatever accomplishment you feel you made in wasting all of that time. I am asking for the quest not to suck ass and be a waste of time, I already explained I am in the middle of making 3~9 Mythics, if you think I do not understand the requirements then you're simply not paying attention, but seeing as you have seemingly ignored half of what I have said, no surprise.
I didn't assume you don't know the requirement, and idc whether you're making 3 mythic or 90 mythics and what you've gone through while making them, it's irrelevant to the topic.
It's not I ignored half of what you have said, it's you simply don't agree with my POV and vice versa. Fine. I said my opinion about Mythic, if you can't accept it, then so be it.
Oh and btw:
Thirdly, I say again, if you want a super rare item that few have, Afterglow exists just for you, I hate it just as much as I hate the idea of this being rare just for rarity sake, but, I don't care because its worthless, if you want something rare its your prize.
Loled at this, majority of mythic's is as worthless as afterglow, and afterglow isn't complete zero improvement, just the improvement is small and requirement is above what majority of people can afford. By logic you'd want to ask afterglow requirement to reduce too. It makes no sense that you're ok with current afterglow requirement(900M for extra crit-rate after WS for entire pt), but not ok with current Mythic requirement (300~400M for what? -na more often or 60% more QD dmg in WKR or something similar) They're on same tier of worthlessness.
It seems to me that you want mythic requirement to reduce because you want yourself or your friend a mythic, less about what makes better game. Thus you can make above statement that makes zero sense....not ok with mythic because you want one, but ok with afterglow and just ask whoever want to be elite make afterglow because you don't want one.
I'm ok with afterglow, I want it, it's still improvement, hell probably more improvement than my Mythic, but I can't afford it, thus I'm not 1%. But I don't really care that I don't have it and would never ask dev to lower the requirement to suit my need, unlike you.
Afania

To sum up, keep the requirement as it is, can make the requirement obtainable by doing SoA content. But if dev is removing social hierarchy then I'll go play other games with no social hierarchy and better graphic/game mechanics. I highly doubt casuals would stay too, since they can also play other games with no social hierarchy and better graphic + mechanics too.
Make FFXI same as other games and remove the epicness of legendary does not save the game, it'd be competing with other games and I see no way FFXI can win the competition. FFXI has always been more hardcore and accomplishment means a lot more than other games, that's why it's unique and still has a market. While FFXIV walks different path. No amount of "Change this to suit my need" can deny that fact. If FFXI is same as other games such as FFXIV that no item is rare and epic(even PVP random queue has allagan weapon DD now, lol), it'd be dead by now.
If you ever look at the big picture and other ppl that's not same group as you, instead of "me me me", then you'd understand why asking requirement cut in half or even cut off 20k alex is a face slap to whoever already grinded 30k for it.
You want requirement to cut more than half because you're WORKING on it, you got the benefit by having to farm 20k less. While whoever already done with 30k, not just they wasted 20k worth of alex, but their hardwork is being devalued.
It's like you spent $300,000 on gold, next day your gold only worth $100,000. No investor would be happy with their property lost 2/3 of value. Of course if you're ABOUT to buy $300,000 worth of gold, you'd be happy that the price is now only $100,000. But those who already paid the full price, they won't. Wanting the price to drop to suit your need is just as selfish as whoever own the item to keep their full price, it's the same. Stop pretending you're any different.

First you claimed you didn't ask the requirement to cut in half, then asked the alex requirement to be 1/3 of it is now, some logic lol.I asked for 1 part of it to possibly be lowered, its the only part of the changes I want but don't care much about, Alexandrite as a requirement in the amount needed is insanely stupid, but even if you cut it into a 3rd of its current amount you are not halving the work required for a Mythic, you still have 100 Assaults, you still have 100k Tokens, 150k Ichor, the Kings, the Chariots, Odin, every ZNM except possibly PW if you buy your items for 99, the amount of work is immense, taking out 20,000 Alex sounds a lot bigger than it is in the grand scheme of things.
This is incorrect, I've been asking mythic NOT to change requirement BEFORE I have one.The point was not that you want to keep your specific Mythic special its the fact you want Mythics in general to stay special, you're missing the point by focusing on something entirely different than that of which I am getting at.
Whether I'm 1% of player or 99% of player, the game is still more interesting with hard to obtain epic items. I picked FFXI as my main MMORPG, because having social hierarchy made the game interesting to me. If I want a game without epic item, I'd just play other games. You have afterglow if you want 'epic items' in the game that no one can get, an answer to your wishes which by the way isn't really different than your answer to others that they can just go get another weapon for your job.
I see nothing "selfish" about asking FFXI to be FFXI, a game I loved. Why'd I pop on a forum and ask dev to change FFXI into another game I don't like? What are you talking about, lol. COR has empy, and current weapon that's on top isn't legendary. Whoever goes through the entire process of making a Mythic for a COR do it for a COR. But cutting mythic requirement by half does not provide a reasonable goal, it devalues the goal. You're correct, I meant to break that into two pieces, 1 for jobs like COR with little access to their alternative, Empyrean, and jobs like GEO and RUN which will have no alternative. As for making another class of weapon, I rather them not, I rather them just make Mythics more bearable and have Afterglow fit their original intended purpose.
Not really, 10 Attack, 10 Accuracy, 5% Crit Rate, those are the Afterglows so far as I understand and all but the Crit Rate are so minor that its stupid. Mythics on the other hand do a lot for jobs, if you can honestly say that all 3 of those stats above are in any way close to the use of what Nirvana, Kenkonken, Burtgang, and so on have to offer, then you obviously have no grasp of stats in this game. I am fine with Afterglows as they are because they are exactly what you seem to think Mythics should be, trophies, no one will ever really make Afterglows for their buffs, and if I'm not mistaken SE even said from the start they were meant to be the impossible to obtain super rare weapons that you keep talking about, part of why they make you glow even when not in battle, because it makes you stand out.
It seems to me that you want mythic requirement to reduce because you want yourself or your friend a mythic, less about what makes better game. Thus you can make above statement that makes zero sense....not ok with mythic because you want one, but ok with afterglow and just ask whoever want to be elite make afterglow because you don't want one.No, actually I plan to do an Afterglow on my Murgleis, as well as having my GF & Friend pick 1 weapon of their 3 Mythics in which to Afterglow as well. I find that easily acceptable in my mind because no one needs the Mythic 99 items or anything else from it and it plays off of no sort of limited resource. I will admit, I have a certain amount of disgust for the fact that someone would make an Afterglow for an Empyrean, because the supply of Rift items is so insanely low that it seems horrible to me that someone would be so selfish as to buy the supply of 50 Empyrean 99s worth and throw it away so they can glow, but I know you won't agree with that sentiment. In either case, I want for Mythic to change has nothing to do with my own personal involvement in making them, I am making 9 now, I would be making 9 then, thats why I keep throwing that number out there, its not as though I plan to make 1 but if they would change it, all of a sudden, I would jump out of my seat and make the other 2.
You're claming that I am not asking for whats better for the game, but rather, better for me, I think its more accurate to say I am not asking for whats better for the game, but better for the general community, since the majority of people who do want Mythics will never obtain them because of all of the work through meaningless content that is involved.
I'm ok with afterglow, I want it, it's still improvement, hell probably more improvement than my Mythic, but I can't afford it, thus I'm not 1%. But I don't really care that I don't have it and would never ask dev to lower the requirement to suit my need. I never ask any fix on this forum to suit my need, unlike you.I~ really don't care about Afterglow much myself, only reasons I will even do one is my GF wants one and just like with Mythic I figure why not, if I'm going to do the footwork for 1, may as well do 1 each. But either way, as I explained I don't really ask for this for my own personal benefit alone, which you seem to take it as, and if you continue to proceed under that frame of mind then it truely is pointless to even talk to you because you believe all of my intentions are self centered rather than considering that it could be better for the general population of players on the game, which, I do believe it would be, seeing as it would still be the hardest of the 3 weapon types, and would still pale in comparison to Afterglow in rarity, where real rarity quests should be, in obscure stand out items with no real benefit but rather a massive trophy status.

Stop pretending you're any different.Prices change in time as well, if I spent $300,000 on a house I do not expect everyone who ever buys a house of similar design to pay $300,000, rather, I expect its value and price to go down over time. Now if you want to argue the fact that it happens in a single day, I agree, it is a bit wrong for people who finished their weapon last week to be out of 20,000 Alexandrite, ideally, even though I know it would never happen, SE could do a sort of refund that would give 20,000 Alexandrite or a Cat's Eye to a person who has completed it within a certain timeframe.
Also if you want to argue that people have their work devalued because of the fact that its easier to do after time, then everyone who has ever done any Relic, Mythic, or Empyrean, should have been hit just as hard by the release of Adoulin which with the release of its gear made Salvage II soloable by many jobs, even if it was not able to be entered alone till recently, as well as Dynamis Decent Challenge monsters being a cake walk and driving supply or currency/run through the roof, and the fact that even the NMs who used to pose at least some challenge in the path of Empyreans are now all just a joke. If work was going to be devalued by making that which need be done to obtain it easier, than it has happened multiple times already, with the creation of Neo-Dynamis, level 75 cap being broken, Salvage II, Odin II, Nyzul II, Empyrean Weapons, Adoulin, the entire ilevel system itself, and so on, they all made everything for these weapons easier in some way or form.
Doing what I am talking about is no different than that of what I listed above, its just a decrease in requirement rather than an increase in supply, which is no different when it comes to value, only different when it comes to how it makes you feel about it, because an increase in Alexandrite drops by 300% and a decrease in Alexandrites required to 1/3rd would achieve the same end goal, put the total cost at roughly the same, and make it just as easy or hard as it would be no matter which one you do.

I asked for 1 part of it to possibly be lowered, its the only part of the changes I want but don't care much about, Alexandrite as a requirement in the amount needed is insanely stupid, but even if you cut it into a 3rd of its current amount you are not halving the work required for a Mythic, you still have 100 Assaults, you still have 100k Tokens, 150k Ichor, the Kings, the Chariots, Odin, every ZNM except possibly PW if you buy your items for 99, the amount of work is immense, taking out 20,000 Alex sounds a lot bigger than it is in the grand scheme of things.
30k alex took the longest time for me, other requirement not so much. But then again, I'm on the lower end when it comes to amount of gil I have(not elite). I think for majority of players, 30k alex is the longest requirement.
I fail to see how Mythics make FFXI, FFXI, what makes this game is its community, gameplay, and its story/enviroment, I have no wish to change the game, I also have no wish to leave Mythics, a single type of weapon, as they are.
Gameplay and story is hardly anything to write home about, I agree that community is something different from other MMO, but it isn't everything.
If you ask all the ex-FFXI player, what makes FFXI FFXI, I bet a lot of them are going to answer "sense of accomplishment". I played XIV ARR after lanuch, met a lot of ex-FFXI player and talked about the game for a bit. A lot of them did mentioned something like CoP/FFXI endgame, something that needs time and effort to accomplish. They may no longer play FFXI due to several reasons, maybe cuz of rl, or maybe cuz they don't like the change post Abyssea, but "feeling accomplished after hardwork" is one common answer.
Not really, 10 Attack, 10 Accuracy, 5% Crit Rate, those are the Afterglows so far as I understand and all but the Crit Rate are so minor that its stupid. Again, you're ok with afterglow being trophy but not Mythic. Nirvana/KKK/Burtgang is not make or break for the job. Not as much as Ochain and harp. Even then it's only 3 out of 20. If you feel worried about the gap, you can also ask the dev to make better IL119 none mythic alternatives?
Personally I don't get gear for "trophy", I do them for stat, even if stat is minor improvement I'd still want it. But I do think not everyone should be able to get every gear, unless they're damn serious about the job.
You're claming that I am not asking for whats better for the game, but rather, better for me, I think its more accurate to say I am not asking for whats better for the game, but better for the general community, since the majority of people who do want Mythics will never obtain them because of all of the work through meaningless content that is involved.
Except it isn't as simple as it is. There are many different opinion within the community. Some wants easy mythic so they can have one, some have no mythic but would rather want mythic to be epic. Some simply doesn't care whether they have mythic or not. Asking the requirement to be lowered does not necessary benefit the community.
At one point of time I don't have one too and wanted one, but if anyone ask the dev to lower the requirement I wouldn't agree with them. Because if the requirement is lowered, I know I wouldn't get same level of satisfaction after it's done. Asking the requirement to cut in half does not help me, it'd kill my satisfaction from playing the game. Of course there are different opinion too. I even have lsmate said this game is no fun without long term goal.
How can you claim to "do request not for myself, but for the community". It makes 0 sense since everyone in the community has different opinion.
You still haven't convince me how Mythic requirement cut in half is better. If you want smaller gap for SMN PUP you can ask the dev to make more weapons with specific stat. If you want mythic requirement not boring to do you can ask the dev to make current content for mythic. Until then I still see all that "I want a mythic give me a mythic, me me me".

Using house as example may not be entirely accurate, same reason why I don't use computer as example.
If you buy house to live in, after a few years the price decreased, it does not matter as much because you probably need that house immediately.
But if you buy a house for investment, or buy gold, then you probably buy it for other purpose.
Not everyone builds Mythic so they can have a top tier weapon to use, some people simply build it because it's Mythic, with rarity.
There's also a difference between gears easier to obtain because you can solo older content, and down right cut down alex by 20k. I can tolerate stuff easier to obtain because our character gets stronger, but not 20k worth of alex go into toilet.
You're correct, this is the feeling thing, like everything else in this game. There's a reason why players are not ok with tossing gears after getting new gears, but ok with upgrading existing gears to better one like AF 1 2 3. Technically the amount of work can be the same, but it feels lame to toss old gears for new gears, and it feels better to just simply upgrade what we have.
SE made legendary weapons, acting as if it's the ultimate weapon and people went for it, then trash them in 1 update in March and face slapped the community. It's pretty much the same thing as making alex 30k and whoever want a Mythic just suck it up and grind it, only to wake up and find out SE slapped player's face again.
I can tolerate content gets easier as character gets stronger, because I already know content only gets easier as character gets stronger. But I can't tolerate dev not respecting player's time by betraying them. They put the time consuming requirement there, it's players choice whether they want to invest the time or not. But if the requirement is cut by half after players made the choice based on false info, it's down right face slapping.

one of the last truly significant accomplishments in the game.
What makes this significant? The amount of time it takes to invest? The truth is, when you see someone with a Mythic, all you know is they took a long amount of time doing a bunch of roflcopter easy farming every day for months on end. That really doesn't deserve any respect; it just shows that person has a LOT of time to burn and a lot of patience.
If you don't want to make the Mythic easier to get, that's fine; then give me a weapon that is SOMEWHERE NEAR the level of power of a Mythic. You can have fun with your fancy weapon that has a slightly different model than everything else in the game, and feel so good about it. I just want the ability to perform on a similar level without wasting days of my life.

Personally I'd respect someone dedicated A LOT of time and patience on "something", let it be playing a job in FFXI and grinding gear for it, or playing table tennis, or playing piano. It's not a choice everyone can make because time is valuable.
I don't respect ass/retard(you know who I'm talking about :D ) with accomplishment though, but if someone really invest a lot of time on accomplishments and not being an ass about it then yes, that deserves respect.

How can you claim to "do request not for myself, but for the community". It makes 0 sense since everyone in the community has different opinion. The majority of people I have talked to in the community seem to have shared similar views on the subject, I already explained that.

As for how it's better, it wastes less of people's time to get it, the problem isn't doing the content, the problem isn't the difficulty, the hardships endured, the long path to attainment, none of that is what I even care about. I keep saying that Alexandrite as a change is an afterthought by compare to what I am mainly talking about being done which is a change from 24 hours per tag to 6 hours per tag and an adjustment to the Kings to make their pop timers actually well designed rather than the horrible design that it is now, but rather than saying much of anything about that you seem dead set focused on talking about Alexandrite and how I terribly want to cut the requirements in half every time you post even after I basically said I want it to happen, but, its not the main thing I am worried about.

It's not an accomplishment. There is no skill required. It is not hard. ANYONE can do it, at any time, if they feel like it. Why don't they? Because it sucks. It's not fun. It feels like work, like a job. And if Square Enix wants to keep this game alive going forward, they will change (as they already have been) a lot of things that are not fun.
Why do you play a game? For fun. If you're not having fun, then I question why you're playing (and paying for it at that). And if you don't have every Mythic (since you hold them in such high regard), I question why you don't, especially if you see it as so much fun to go and get them.
Why should a game reward the people who have nothing better to do with their life every day than solo a bunch of meaningless content that takes no effort, skill, and is simply a large amount of "work" for a powerful weapon? Not just a powerful weapon, the best one in the game, by a long shot.
And what makes you think that this is sacred and should not be changed? Get your nostalgia goggles off. You really need to play another game and realize how stupid this is in 2014.

If you don't have fun with this game how about just don't do it? Instead of taking away other ppls fun?
Whether something is "accomplishment" and fun or not is not depend on YOUR opinion. It seems to me that you choose not to go after it because you don't value it and see it as a waste of time, so you downplay it to justify your choice.
But there are people with DIFFERENT opinion from you, they don't see it as a waste of time and view it as an accomplishment, period. You can't change that.
I play the game for fun, and obviously my kind of fun(playing RPG and living in a virtual world) does not came from finishing a Mythic with half of the requirement? Duh.
Also there's zero logic in "you have fun with mythic, thus you should have every Mythic". I have fun finishing mythic quest doesn't mean I'll have fun to do it 19 more times. Same reason why I only ever beat a RPG once, but I never play new game+. I have fun first time playing it, but after 2nd time it became doing the same thing, so why should I play through it 2nd time after 1st done?
I play tons of other games that's not FFXI, thank you. I like FFXI as it is now, even though I'm not happy with some recent game direction. I don't need YOU to tell me what game to choose. If I don't like game direction to a point that I can't tolerate it, I will cancel account before you tell me to.
All I see is /rage /rage /rage this game sucks because I can't justify myself to build a mythic, maybe you should play other games instead because this isn't the game for you.

So re; Mythic w/e, its good that people who want longterm challenges have that option. Theres no shortages of easy options people can take instead, and get perfectly serviceable gear from. I think SE has made a lot of good decisions this year, to balance the game out and make it enjoyable for BOTH groups of players, those who like long-term grind and those who like microwave-dinner gaming.
Mythic is not challenging. It is easy. It just takes forever.
And no, it's not balanced, because the gear from it is the best by far for SMN. Nirvana is beyond everything else by far, nothing even comes close to comparing. You have no choice; if you want to be a good SMN, prepare to waste hours of your life.
And learning the piano or whatever else can't even be compared to this. I find it very strange you would even bring that up, but that only returns me to my original opinion of you.

I did, and I do not disagree with the pop adjustment nor your idea about assault. Although assault isn't THAT bad, but that's just my opinion.
Alex 30k--->10k is downright face slapping IMO. Unless they're giving 20k alex refund to all the mythic owners.

Mythic is not challenging, it's a LONG TERM GOAL. Something that's not supposed to be done after a few short challenging fight like delve boss or VD battle fields.
You're viewing the purpose of Mythic wrong, and just down right denying the existence of long term goal. You don't understand the concept of long term goal, don't you?
Mythic is required to be the best SMN, but not "good" SMN. Most of the "good" SMN(or insert other job here) that I know of have no mythic/relic/empy.
Not sure what's the difference between building a mythic and learning a skill, learning a new skill is also a goal that can't be completed in short amount of time, just like mythic.

Afania is 100% right on this whole subject.
Many gamers enjoy challenging games, with long term punishment/reward systems. Many gamers enjoy easy games. The beauty of FFXI in 2013 is that it offers BOTH challenging and easy. In the older FFXI (imho) it was challenging all the way, just getting a dunes party at lvl 16 could take you forever. If you wanted to lvl BST to 75 in 2004, it meant soloing the whole lvl 1-75 without books, empress bands, or anything, plus it was pre-xp patch so easy-prey mobs gave you like 15xp. The jobs were harder back then too, before the various patches. Especially BST and PUP which I solod back then and de-lvelled every day lol, solo because you never got invites on those in the 2004-2006 era. So even levelling your job was a huge big fat challenge.
Now it is much more easy to level, skill-up, obtain very powerful gear. Which means that people who want quick and easy have that option across the board. But there are still challenging aspects which are what keep a lot of more hard-headed gamers playing FFXI. I spent like 3 years killing MM before Spurrer Beret dropped, another six months getting two -6 PDT rings and Wivre Pin / Refresh+1. These are self-imposed challenges, which I chose to do because they were incredibly low % drops.. If they had been super easy drops I would not have got the same adrenaline rush I got when the rare item finally popped up in the box. Achievement is a thrill, especially after working on something for years. Also if you like challenging, you can still do old content in old gear, I sometimes go fight Lillith Ascendant with my turbo animator and lvl 75 gear, its a buzz fight and you might clear the battle at 25-29 mins and on like 15hp lol. Using the new iLvl gear its a 3-4 minute fight btw.
:p
Achievement is completely depend on how you view it. Crevox view Mythic "not an accomplishment and not worth respecting" because it doesn't fit his criteria of being an accomplishment, that doesn't mean everyone would have same POV, and he has zero right to downplay it.
There are ppl who view hitting lv 99 an accomplishment, even though it's easy. There are ppl who view beating AA normal an accomplishment even though it's still easy. There are ppl who view killing tojil an accomplishment, there are ppl who view getting a relic in FFXIV an accomplishment even though it's less than 5hr of work.
I don't view any of the above accomplishment anything worth bragging about because they're easy to me, but that's MY opinion. That doesn't mean it's not an accomplishment for other people.
One can work in a bread factory cutting bread for 20 years, after 20 years he become a manager of the factory.
By Crevox's logic he has no accomplishment and not worth respecting, because anyone can cut bread, it doesn't require skill, he just happened to cut it long enough to snag the position of a manager. That doesn't mean everyone has same opinion.
If someone spent a long time building a mythic or grind a gear, I'd respect it and view it as an accomplishment, unless that person is an ass or suck at that job, lol.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm in my 40s and I totally couldn't care less what any random strangers on the internet think about me or my views on gaming. Age does that to you. Plus I've been gaming since 1981 and during that time I have totally formed opinions on gaming 'work ethics' and overcoming challenges. Early platform games involved jumping from floor to floor, onto elevators etc. One mistake, fall off the platform, game over and the level reset to level 1. Beating those games involved endless grind, repeating the same exact platforms over and over till you perfected it. And that was the very birth origins of all videogaming. Most games since then have had that as the core precept. So I totally don't see why building weapons or whatever where you do the same things over and over for ages, is somehow not acceptable in games. Its always been that way lol.
But back on the subject, yes mythic is better. But that doesn't mean the game isn't more balanced now. Back in the old days it was RME or some AH junk, magians, NM drop weaps which were all feeble compared to RME. Same with armors, you either had the really nice hard to get stuff, or you had junk. Now you can buy an eminence scimitar for 7k sparks (45 minutes work) which is a weapon that hits hard, no aftermath but its a solid piece to swing at mobs. So even if you don't have the RME, you can pick up a damaging lvl 117 weapon in 45 minutes. I'm sorry you can't see how that is very balanced, compared to the old days.
Re; summoner, maybe SE will add a weapon that is at least nearer to the mythic, and is easymode to get. Idk because I don't play summoner.
Re; "its not challenging it just takes forever." I would say that working thousands of hours to build something is challenging, regardless of if the mobs are easy or the battles are repetitive. Because halfway through you might be sick and tired of it, you are challenged by the fact it involves so much grind, if you keep working on it you have overcome the challenge. This is 9-5 stuff, really, work = challenge, doing something that takes thousands of hours has to be considered work / effort / challenge.
I think it's pointless to mention how "old way" is like lol. He isn't going to accept the concept of long term goal, something quite unique to XI. Nor the concept of "not everyone can get/want to get the best gear". Nor "live another life in a MMO".
I blame current-gen MMO and how main stream gaming media having such negative POV toward the way FFXI is. Now every title just put the best gear in game and obtainable by beating the hardest raid boss, and the purpose of playing those MMO is to obtain the best gear after beating the hardest raid boss, thus the game is "bad" if the best gear isn't obtainable in reasonable amount of time. Because the entire purpose of playing those MMO is to beat stuff and get shiny.
The purpose of Mythic isn't even "hey, the gear is here, you must obtain this because that's why you're playing this game". It's meant to be a once in a life time journey in a video game to obtain something after years of work. If you don't like to waste time on it, don't do it. Back when DRG is unplayable without ryuno because ryuno was so far ahead of 2nd best option, THAT is unbalanced. Since you can replace a DRG with another DD. This is no longer the case with 119 alternatives now. SMN also isn't that bad since SMN isn't competing against any other job....situations you need a SMN you'd get invite without Mythic, situations you don't need SMN you won't get invite with a mythic either. I don't even think most Mythic owners build Mythic because they're the best ....most build them because it's da Mythic, not Oat or w/e other 119 weapons.
FFXI has always been about living in a virtual world, and no one gets the best gear for every slot....maybe only 1~2 super hardcore per server. I don't see how "can't get mythic in reasonable amount of time" a flaw because you're not supposed to get everything, unless you happen to run out of content to do and only Mythic left. Whoever can't accept the way it is probably already quit for ages. Most of the ppl who still plays more or less want it this way, or at least able to tolerate the fact that not everyone can have a Mythic.

I am a returning player starting over. Even with my previous characters I never made it past 70 and I have never participated in FFXI's end game, nor am I in an hurry to do so. Here are my thoughts about the early game though:
1) Make Trust NPCs usable in mission fights. I want to go through the story *as* I level, not once I'm level 99. Makes the leveling experience much richer.
2) Make Trust NPCs usable for garrisons, and make garrisons soloable by a player with 3 alter egos (albeit with some difficulty). This would be a great introduction to group combat for new players. Heck, revamp garrisons completely -- so much you could do here.
3) *removed*
4) Add a mini-map (can be toggled on and off)
5) Clean up early-level quests. Some I've noticed are very finicky as to when they are available. For example, Windurst quests "Food for Thought" and "All New C-2000" were not readily available to me at level 10. Had to keep checking back.
I don't like that the lower levels are treated as a bland chore to be sped through as quickly as possible. I don't like that level 1-70ish gear is "pointless," and the idea is to get to 99 before you even bother with things like story line or quests. Personally I want to experience something other than FoV/GoV/repeat *as* I level, not once I get to 99.

So Afania if I were to take your pov about mythics and applied it to something else say CoP you would of been in the same boat as those who cried omg they're making it too easy now that they took the caps off group, yes? Because you know that somehow killed their experience and hard work beating that expansion; meanwhile everyone who hit a road block because no one would help them get past this or that fight because they didn't like doing said fight shouted in glee when the caps came off. No more road block, no more needing five blue mages n a healer or w/e for this or that fight. Because you know you suck if you couldn't get enough of the correct job combo to win on a certain fight. Just because you were able to do something the hard way and others were not doesn't mean that if they lowered the difficultly of said event/quest diminished your accomplishment. The social tiers will still be there even if there are more mythics out there. Just look at the shouts for delve a week after it came out with all of the delve weapon or gtfo bs. Now it's please come this or that job in this or that sub job or gtfo. Certain jobs are being denied of clears just because they don't fit the optimal win factor thus forcing people to level other jobs just so they can get a weapon or armor they want from something.
This is a ideas that could make the game more fun for the majority thread again you might not like an idea brought up. If something is being asked for then it's obviously something that might be needed or changed. This game is 11 years old going on 12 and people want to put up ideas for the devs to look at and think about. Doesn't mean they are going to be implemented.

The only thing currently being argued against is Mythic weapon acquisition. CoP can be as easy as it needs to be.
Crevox just wants the game to be something it's not. When you join a game that's already 10 years old, you have to just roll with the punches and take what the devs give you (and even then, they've been very generous lately with the quality of life improvements). Have you seen the things he's been posting here? The guy doesn't understand the meaning of a long-term goal or content being locked. The guy complained about having to be rank 6 to do Dynamis for crying out loud.

Yes and how hard it should or should not be attained. Afania feels if even one part of its acquisition is changed that it will lessen her accomplishment in how she acquired it. It is how many felt about their completion of CoP after the caps being lifted. Also how she her self doesn't feel that anyone who if they do change the requirements would get the feeling of having accomplished something. Or just because something to her was easy but hard to someone else does not have the same weight. She also doesn't think these views could be seen as being elitist. Along with that this is a game and is supposed to be fun not a job. If this were meant to be a job then shouldn't we be paid to play?
I know the other guy seems to not want to be made to jump through hoops to get some things because they only want to be able to do the end of the journey or get the end result. This doesn't mean things in the mythic quest shouldn't be adjusted or not.

3) Don't make low-level missions require sneak and invis. Specifically Windurst mission 2-1. This is a huge turn-off as a new player. There shouldn't be level 80 mobs anywhere near low level areas.
4) Add a mini-map (can be toggled on and off)
5) Clean up early-level quests. Some I've noticed are very finicky as to when they are available. For example, Windurst quests "Food for Thought" and "All New C-2000" were not readily available to me at level 10. Had to keep checking back.

**EDIT: Added #3
3) Grounds of Valor was added to make EXP gain at level 99 possible in any area with the activity, so they had to add level 80+ monsters to those zones. They put them off in far corners of the areas, not the main entrance. However, they did not relocate some of the ???s for missions, but many of the monsters around those are not set to Aggressive. Sneak/Invis is also nearly free from the 5 Tab Circumspection from any of the tomes, so it doesn't matter what job you have.
5) Some quests aren't by level, they're by Fame, which means you have to do enough quests and repeatable quests to raise your reputation with the NPCs in that town. You can have max fame at level 1.
Leveling is so fast. players have stopped holding on to low level gear because of inventory space limits. When level 99 is achievable in 24-72 hours, and missions may take longer than that, it makes sense to level as much as possible. Especially because with Abyssea, you earn more EXP per hour the longer you stay in the party, because of the chain bonus. MMOs breed players striving for efficient play methods, as many things are made to be time consuming.

**EDIT: Circumspection does not work. You have to drop invis to get through the cracked wall. So my point remains, Windurst Mission 2-1 forces new players to get help, level up a whm, or buy prism pots and sneak oil that a new player cannot afford at this point.

The quests I'm referring to are Reputation level 1 quests with no prereqs. Some are just plain finicky for no apparent reason.

Completely understandable and probably unavoidable with old MMOs. However, this is just my personal play style. I like to stop and smell the roses. I will stop and camp lower level NMs, and I prefer to mix in quests and missions as I go. I'm not asking to change the system, but Trust NPCs in missions/garrisons etc would grant new/nostalgic players a richer, more varied leveling experience if they so desire.
Thanks for your response!

CoP and Mythic is not even the same thing. CoP is mission and required to access to certain areas, and it wasn't soloable until lv cap removed. Although I feel a pity that new players can no longer experience the epicness of it, I don't mind about it.
Mythic is ONE gear, out of many. NONE of the mythic are job changing to a point that you won't get invite without one. You don't need it to play the game, and it doesn't matter if you don't have it. Mythic takes too long does not hurt your quality of life because you can CHOOSE not to make one. Mythic hand to everyone = makes the game less interesting.

Mythic and CoP is slightly different. Players do CoP because they need to do CoP to access to certain zone. In 75 if you haven't clear CoP, you can't do limbus, can't upgrade AF, can't learn spells. Most of the players do CoP for story, limbus acces, spells and so on. Thus making CoP easier to clear does improve quality of life, at the cost of no more chance to experience the awesomeness of it.
Most of the players do Mythic for trophy and long term goal, and only for trophy/long term goal but nothing else. I really don't know many people go after a Mythic because it's good effort/reward ratio, most go for mythic because it's Mythic but not delve/relic/empy weapons. By asking Mythic requirement cut into half, Mythic is no longer mythic, thus completely eliminate the point to build it to begin with.
I don't agree with this POV toward mythic being selfish/elitist. IMO, elitist POV= you must have mythic or else you can't play the job. My POV= it's ok if you don't have Mythic, you don't need one. What's so elitist about it? My POV toward Mythic is more about liking the idea of long term goal and social hierarchy, regardless of what group of ppl I belong to.

It's elitist because you feel everyone should have to do something the same way you did. It is just like the people who told others they sucked at doing mammets because they couldn't get a super tank or four blue mages even though the person you are asking for help from has said job leveled. If you didn't need a mythic then people wouldn't have had R/M/E or gtfo in some of the early delve shouts or in void watch shouts. You only see relics around more because you don't have to be a slave to a dynamis LS anymore. CoP used to be hard and many people felt like you do about mythics if they were to be even a smidge easier to get. That SE was slapping them in the face that now even the crapiest person on your server could get sea access. Does anyone need a mythic or a relic or an empy? No but if you have one I'm pretty sure you will get picked over someone who doesn't to go kill the newest wildskeeper reive. Specially if another person who might have better gear but not even a skirmish weapon for the job they're wanting to go on. That for sure would be a slap in the face vs asking for just a little of time spent being shaved off.

So, couple suggestions of my own I haven't said anything about. Can we give rewards for extra participation rather than encourage players to do things with fewer people? I believe that Meeble Burrows was a great step in the right direction in that sense when you first joined us Matsui, you changed it so that more players meant more points, a system which encouraged bringing others with you to benefit everyone. Since this however the opposite has been true, many times it feels much better to do things with as few people as possible which isn't always bad but more casual things such as getting XP I believe should reward you with more rather than less, for instance we could get our standard XP and for each additional actual person we would get an additional 10% XP up to 150% total, this would encourage party play. Things like the Seal Drop increase, a higher XP reward for kills when in party, and other things such as this would heavily encourage party play rather than solo play.

Wow seriously you don't read right? I said "It's ok if you don't have a mythic", in what way it's feeling everyone should do the same way I did? If you don't want to do boring mythic requirement, don't do it. I've been advocating "don't do it if you don't like it".
Saying "you sucked at doing mammet" is elitist, saying "don't nerf the mammet or change anything about this fight" is not. Saying "you sucked at X" is bad attitude, saying "don't change" simply because he/she liked how it is atm.
I said NOTHING about changing king pop rate, NOTHING. I only disagree with alex requirement lower. You can keep putting words in my mouth.
I've never, ever seen "you must have Mythic or you can't join" /shout in my life, ever. "You must have RME/delve or you can't join" is not the same as "you must have mythic or you can't join". If you don't have Mythic, you can join with empy/relic/delve, so you don't NEED a mythic to join.
Only situation close to "you must have Mythic or you can't join" before SoA is DRG, because DRG using 2nd strongest option was way behind every other DD, it's an issue of DRG, not Mythic requirement issue. And this is no longer the case with 119 polearm.
Changing lving speed and Mythic requirement is not the same, either. You NEED to lv to cap to enjoy a lot of content in this game, thus speeding up the lving speed= more content for everyone.
Mythic is an equipment, it doesn't stop you from doing ANYTHING in this game, I see zero reason that everyone must have one. Again, if you don't think the requirement is reasonable, don't do it, nobody force you to do it.
A game should have variety of goal for players to do, some players like short term goal, so you can use lv to cap, finish CoP, obtain delve equip, obtain 119 AF as short term goal. Some people like long term goal, thus Mythic exist for that reason. There are only 2 long term goal in this game, afterglow and Mythic, there are many more short term goals in this game, which is pretty much everything else. Why are you trying to kill 1 out of 2 long term goals when there are only 2? All the long term goal fans won't have much to do besides afterglow if mythic requirement lowered.

And that's exactly the reason why I think long term goal is important in this game. A lot of people I know of start long term goal in this game, and keep playing so they can accomplish that long term goal. It's one aspect that'd appeal some people, thus making the game last longer.
If this game only has long term goal, then maybe it's bad. Because players that liked short term goal will quit. But this game has one billion short term goals if you don't like long term goal, idk the reason to kill more long term goal so people quit faster. A game needs to please both long term goal fans and short term goal fans to last longer. Not to eliminate one group and cause sub drop. Remember how sub drop after Abyssea? Remember how sub drop after SoA? That's what happen when SE try to eliminate the value of long term goal to please short term goal fans. And it's hard to recover from the dmg now.
Maat's cap is more of a sacrifice while making the lving speed faster. Lving speed was way too slow, so it's necessary to make it faster so everyone can enjoy more content. And maat's cap just got hit. It's a fair trade.
But you gain NOTHING from making mythic obtainable in like 1 month or something, besides a new gear start to lose value after 1 months of boring grind. You purposely reduce the mythic requirement, for the sake of some people wanting a Mythic. You don't really get to do more content if Mythic is faster, in fact you'd probably ended up doing less content by spending next month doing old content for mythic.
That is not the same, stop making arguement against current mythic requirement, using examples that's not relevant to my reasons to support current Mythic requirement.
I defend for Mythic requirement because I like to spend 1 year to finish a weapon, I don't like to spend 1 week to finish a gear and toss it next update like all other SoA gears. I pay this MMO for long term goals, if I want more short term goal I wouldn't even playing FFXI. If you want to convince me how making Mythic short term goal a better choice, you better convince me how FFXI with only short term goal is better than other short term goal MMO.

Subs dropped after abyssea due to XIV initial release partly again for when SoA came out. There will always be rubber banding in subs because when it comes to mmos a lot of people seem to have short attention spans and start complaining about nothing to do because they went and did a binge weekend doing everything that came out in this or that patch release. Again no one is asking to be able to get a mythic after a month. We'll not most. Most are asking maybe a month or two less. Again who are you to say that something that took you no time to finish wasn't a long term goal to someone else? You talk a lot about pov and yet always seem to feel if someone else didn't manage to complete something as quickly as you that it doesn't weigh as much as your own accomplishment because it was easy for you. Look at the person who can't even get their mats for their pup AF and the mats needed for new automaton bodies because they're semi new and cant afford to buy them off the Ah and might be on a server that's a ghost town. To you and me that might be a short term goal because we can get those mats easily but to them it might be a long term goal. Anyway it's obvious that you won't budge on your view and we have beaten this dead horse so much it's alive again.

XIV initial release barely put a dent in XI, that game wasn't very successful. I know plenty of people quit because of Abyssea. Some quite when Abyssea hit because endgame LS dead. Some quite during Abyssea because they finish everything and got bored.
It took me about 3 years+ to finish Mythic, I know a lot of people spent less time than that and I avg slightly more time compare with those who actually finished. That doesn't mean I should use my standard to judge whether Mythic is long or short. Whether a goal is long or short, is depend on how it is compare with other goals, not player's ability to finish them.
AF costs around 3M to finish. Mythic cost 300M, relic currently still cost 60M+. So AF is 1/100 of mythic and less than 1/20 of relic, THAT makes AF a short term goal. You can't argue that AF is long term goal because you play 1hr a week and make 100k a day, and it took you 30 weeks to finish. If that's the case anyone can purposly play very little MMO or purposely make very little gil everytime they play, and argue that the game has a lot of content.
If someone can't finish PUP AF, why'd he/she worry about not having a Mythic? The game keep them busy as it is. But for those who can finish AF in a day as a short term goal, the game needs long term goal to make them stick in this game longer, not to kill half of the long term goal in this game so they finish Mythic faster and quit.

Hello,
Thank you for the all suggestions!
Unfortunately adding this would be difficult due to the way the client functions. The development team is aware that returning players are having a difficult time questing, and in future version updates they are striving to make it easier to play from various angles, such as the easing of quest requirements that are triggered by fame levels, etc.
As Producer Akihiko Matsui has mentioned previously, the development team will continue to improve quality of life aspects of the game moving forward in each version update, so that the game will be more comfortable to play.
We’ll continue to submit your requests and suggestions to the development team, so please keep them coming! :)

Is there a way you can add a new form of marker such as a red one to go with the green & purple we already have, and let this new marker show the location of quest NPCs on your map? I understand being unable to show icons directly on the screen above a NPCs head, but I think this sounds more feasible and much less in the way.

At the very least, updating old quest and mission descriptions with more descriptive text would help. Many old quests don't give a destination or even the name of the item you are hunting for. Surely an update to text wouldn't break anything, as they've fixed item descriptions and NPC text with localization problems before. Also, what about quests with difficult requirements now, like The Gustaberg Tour, needing a party of people below a certain level, which is going to be a rare thing with how few people are leveling at any given time, and you can't sync that low in level, and you level so fast?
Markers have the problem of there only being so many storable in memory, and it might break console versions to add more, with their static amount of RAM that the game must fit in.

Thank you Camate for the response. I kinda figured it was a long shot, but thought I'd give it a try. I'm pretty sure between the client limitations and the amount of time it would have taken to implement this suggestion, it was probably impossible. Oh well, I tried lol. Anyways one suggestion down only X amount to go...hehe. :D

Another way this could be implemented would be like the records of eminence quests (storyline, not goals). When you enter a zone and meet the requirements for the starter quest as well as after you've completed 50 of them (and I assume 100) you see a short message to the extent of "You have an inclination you should speak with [NPC Name] around [Position]".
If you have a lot of quests flagged this could spam your chat log so a little text command to enable/disable it would be great. I don't know if other people are like me, but I'll get into "quest mode" where all I'll want to do are quests for a day or week, and then I'll decide to focus on battle content for a while, so enabling/disabling this would be great.
This would resemble the recommendations feature of XIV more than the floating quest icons.

Greetings, everyone!
I have a couple of quality of life-related updates I would like to share with you.
First, the below is a comment from Akihiko Matsui in regards to item stacking.
Matsui here.
Items that cannot be stacked are mainly separated into two different groups.
The first group is items that system-wise cannot be stacked.
This would be items such as equipment, large fish, and furnishings that cannot stack due to the fact they have additional information added to them such as augments, size/weight, and layout information.
The other group is items that cannot be stacked from a lore-perspective.
For example, ore, logs, skins, and other materials before they are processed to ingots or other items have been set so they cannot be stacked due to the fact that their size would make adventurers’ gobbiebags too huge to carry.
For the former, it would be difficulty system-wise to change this, but for material items and such that cannot stack due to lore, we would like to make it so they can be stacked so players can more easily enjoy synthesis.
Similarly for ammo, we are planning to make it so Nokkhi Jinjahl will stack the newly added ammo, but in order to address new ammo with this NPC it requires a bit more time, and we appreciate your patience.
As there are a vast number of items to address in addition to auction house and delivery box adjustments for this, I cannot give a specific implementation time as of yet; however, we are in the process of working on this.
Also, though not necessarily "quality of life," but still a nice adjustment that is on the horizon, we will be making it so slow affects enemies that only use AoE attacks as their regular attack in the March version update.

I don't bother with collecting ores and synthing them not because they don't stack but because I find mining unenjoyable. Stackable ore won't make finding mining points any less inane.

But it will make worm parties and getting Norg fame less annoying!
(I know entirely too many people who got all the BB items and then realized they didn't have enough Norg fame to flag the quest...)
Stuff about stacks
Yes please, yes please, yes please. Can you add potions, drinks and foods to that list? Honestly please make everything except the former list stack. If you are willing to gamble, you can try your luck farming caskets in east altepa desert for a casaba melon tank. 50 charges to dispense melon juice. Overall, the zone has been pretty kind to me if I go to get a new one. But then again, it could turn out to be a 3 day affair like I ended up doing for herders subligar.

here is my thought on this: only armor & other equipment shouldn't be able to be stacked. Everything else should be able to stack to 99, now I know we have the 12 stack system which is fine too. as long as it stacks in some way. Our gobbie bags are "magical" bags that allow us to carry a whole house worth of furnishings and lots and lots and lots of weapons armor, so as I understand that it seems like lore should play a part ... ummm it is a game ... in a game you can do what you want to do ... a stack of 12 logs or 12 ores is not that far fetched when as it have been mentioned previously several times we can carry things much larger in our bags. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Mr. Akihiko Matsui make the call, give us stacks! it will help with the inventory/storage room problems.

Okay I thought of something as I was going to bed. The ability to still see LS chat while zoning. I doubt this can be put in since it would have to include the ability to open up/keep open the chat log while zoning. I just wish we wouldn't have to wait to type something to our LS while zoning or to guess when another is done zoning so they don't miss something directed to them. I had thought of something else but at the moment I don't remember what it is.
To bring in an idea from another thread the ability to change hair/face styles.

Just remembered what my other idea was. Chocobo whistle, everyone needs one to ride their personal chocobo but you won't be able to have one if you accidentally forgot about your 1st chocobo during the time you are trying to find the person the lost chocobo belongs to. Soon after that is when you solve the handkerchief your chocobo found issue too and thus getting the whistle after that. There should be made a way to get the whistle even if you forgot about your 1st chocobo because let's face it raising one is boring even with the CS skip when doing the reports.

Yes but I think for most people riding a chocobo it being their own or a rental is for the music and not being hit by mobs. Also wish the chocobo song lasted til maybe five minutes left in the ride or something. Most zones don't have their own music so when the song ends with how it is now you end up with most of your trip in nothingness.

I know being able to get some maps can be hard to get even solo. One I think needs a change of some kind is getting the map of bostaunieux oubliette quest. Either have pirate attacks happen more often or raise the drop rate of the sand charm dropping off the skeletons or even the NM skeletons that can pop with these attacks. Another if they haven't changed this already is getting the map for old town movopolis as the chest could pop in a section where you still had to use another person to help you get to the chest.

Okay took me awhile, but another suggestion popped into my head.
-How about a better/easier way to keep track of how many points or weapon skills are needed to complete the first set of quested weaponskills (i.e; Savage Blade, Empyreal Arrow, Decimation, Evisceration, etc.) Could be a counter system like with the magian trial where you can keep track of how many times you've used the weapon skills.
This could be really useful for those of us who might start the trial, but suddenly lose count from things such as real life distractions, disconnection from game, or having to log out for the day.

Greetings,
Is there a way you can add a new form of marker such as a red one to go with the green & purple we already have, and let this new marker show the location of quest NPCs on your map? I understand being unable to show icons directly on the screen above a NPCs head, but I think this sounds more feasible and much less in the way.
Unfortunately, the current client only allows 10 map markers to be displayed at the same time. Additionally, if we were to increase the amount of marker icons and colors there would consequently be an increase in lag. Due to this implementation of this suggestion is difficult.

Okay thought of another QoL and it's all thanks to the campaign changes. Need to either place the npcs at the fortifications where the C.A's are or make the window pop ups for joining a union, turning in tags to either retag, or because you have to leave before the campaign is over quicker. I don't know how many times I couldn't do these things because of AoE spam by attackers or being buffed to the point where something finally realizes I have tags on or the AoEs kill me before I can finish.

What ever happened to the Dev note that said we will some day be able to further merit SP abilities down to 30min?
Also any plans for further job adjustments namely new job abilities? It feels like 95-99 most jobs didn't get much in terms of spells or JA, some jobs only got a buff to some useless trait like Crit Def Bonus(for DRG) while others got powerful spells like Meteor or Arise. Any plans to give some jobs a JA 95-99? Also maybe an NM or event dropped spell for RDM? Gravity II hardly seems like an ultimate RDM spell compared to Arise/Meteor. Maybe Temper II(castable on others), Brave/Faith/Reflect/Might, you know, those spells in the .dat files that have animations but were never implemented? Those could be used to make RDM more interesting. A shared timer Job Ability with Super Jump would be neat. It could be a 3min recast like Super Jump and share its timer but instead of removing enmity and removing the Dragoon from combat, it would instead deal triple damage and give back 4x TP. An offensive alternative to Super Jump :)

New suggestion: Consolidate some currencies.
Take a peek at the Currencies list and you'll see just how ridiculous the growing list of currencies is. I'm aware that many of them had their uses at one point, but can't many of them be combined?
Assault points really don't need to be separated by zone anymore, now that the gear is irrelevant. (edit: Hell, roll it all up with Imperial Standing as well)
Sparks, Tabs, and Kinetic Units could be combined into one without much difficulty since they all have a fairly low cap, and are meant to be gathered starting at a low level. (edit: maybe even conquest points)
Conquest points by nation could be combined because, again, the gear is irrelevant.
Zeni and Jettons could go together since they're loosely related.
Three kinds of Chocobucks and Wizened Worms? Five battle trophies?
And just the stuff from Adoulin:
Bayld
Obsidian Fragments
Two kinds of wings
Plasm
I didn't even mention points that come from a multitude of other events. How about instead of every single event giving its own (sometimes several different types of) points, do some consolidation and let us do what we find fun to make progress. Promote doing a variety of content using KIs for guaranteed rewards like WKRs, or just unique drops.
Edit:
Also, consider consolidating some battle systems:
Fov, GoV, and RoE could be combined into one.
Combine the Abyssea and Voidwatch NPCs.
Or transportation options. Currently, we have:
Home points (gil)
Outpost warps (gil or CP)
Valor warps (tabs)
Survival guides (gil)
Tenshodo warper (gil)
Abyssea warpers (cruor)
VW warpers (cruor)
Waypoints (kinetic units)
Staging points (imperial standing)
Conquest warpers (allied notes)
I'll agree that some things make sense (staging points), having so many different ways to get around, all with different starting points, is a little silly.

I agree with the assault points all be combined and the jettons with the zeni. I don't agree with the Cp stuff. Part of the whole bit with conquest besides braging rights is how long signet is and which shops that are effected by a country's rank stock choices are. Along with what things you can get from the signet npcs depending again on rank. Also the gear might be irrelevant to you but maybe not to a new player or someone who is taking their time levelling up a new job.
I would be fine if the shops stayed the way they work now if the gear bought via CP no longer has the you must be of that country while it's ranked higher than last part removed that would be nice.
I also don't think sparks, tag, and kinetic units should be combined just because of how low their cap is (I haven't hit the cap yet on units yet and I have a stupid amount) or that you can start it at low levels. If those are the reason then let's just combine them with the seals.
SE can only put so much onto a npc without breaking the npc in some fashion. Now it's time for me to go all grrr mode because there was something else I had thought of as an idea for something, but it has eluded me.

Regarding the Trust NPC menu:
Since the Trust NPCs cannot be summoned while in a party, there is really no reason they should be visible in the magic menu under those conditions. On the caster jobs having 15+ Trust NPC spells (and growing) cluttering up the spell list make finding spells in a pinch cumbersome. It makes me reluctant to collect the new ones for this reason.
Would it be difficult to add an additional section on the menu. Something like:
Chat
Magic
Abilities
Items
TRUST
Trade
Check
Trust is really unique and fun, but the way it clogs up the spell list makes it much less enjoyable.
Lithera

Yet you summon them. The only two jobs that are getting more spells right now are blue and smn. Also they automatically are at the end of the list. Guess I'm just failing to see how trying to find spells you normally use is hard when all trusts go to the bottom. Though having their own slot could be usefull.

I wasn't trying to say to get rid of CP gear, just that the same points should be available to use if you switch nations, rather than having three different totals, much like Allied Notes.
I would be fine if the shops stayed the way they work now if the gear bought via CP no longer has the you must be of that country while it's ranked higher than last part removed that would be nice.
I agree with this, but I'd take it a step further. Make everything available to everyone from all three nations, just with higher prices for other cities. It would encourage nation loyalty when wanting something from elsewhere.
I also don't think sparks, tag, and kinetic units should be combined just because of how low their cap is (I haven't hit the cap yet on units yet and I have a stupid amount) or that you can start it at low levels. If those are the reason then let's just combine them with the seals. Those weren't the only criteria I used. F/GoV and RoE (questing in any other MMO) are such similar systems, I think they'd consolidate well. I'll admit Kinetic Units don't fit, and I just threw them in there for convenience. All three have a limit of 50k
I suppose I'll put this here as well, I think a good q.o.l. would be to have aggro and maybe even sales music to the game. Aggro music obviously for when you are either aggroed and/or about to be and they can just adapt one of the calls for it. This way if you step away you at least know if/when something is getting you or about to and can hurry back and save yourself. Sales also can be adapted from one of the calls I think and would just be a nice function for people bazaaring stuff.

If those are the reason then let's just combine them with the seals. All 3 of them cap at 50,000. Either way I object to it because you can cap out with I believe around 40 Dark Clusters or something like that, but in general Crystals are the reason I say not to do it, if you thought few people did some of the MPBCNMs now, just wait until people can farm Clusters, trade them to a waypoint, then go to their nearest RoE NPC and pick up 3~6 pages for upgrading their RF gear.
That being said I have no problems with Kinetic and Tags being shared. They are both harmless, the main thing people use Tags for now days is to warp around, which is all we use Kinetic units for, besides that it can provide buffs at the books but no one uses that really so it's a minor thing to bring up.

Either way I object to it because you can cap out with I believe around 40 Dark Clusters or something like that, but in general Crystals are the reason I say not to do it, if you thought few people did some of the MPBCNMs now, just wait until people can farm Clusters, trade them to a waypoint, then go to their nearest RoE NPC and pick up 3~6 pages for upgrading their RF gear.If such a consolidation were to occur, they could eliminate crystal-trading as a source, in the name of balance, since the points come from elsewhere.
And you already get tossed a higher price when you can but CP gear from other nations signet givers.Unless I'm mistaken, there's an item in each level that's only available to their own citizens while they're in first.

I had an idea that I've been sitting on for few days now, but was reluctant in posting it since I think it may be too late in the game's life to add it. It's not so much as a quality of life addition (at least I don't think it is), but I was thinking how a new starter city/nation already for Altana's sake? I don't know it's been like what...twelve years now and we've been introduced to Aht Urghan and Adoulin and not one has offered a chance to start and explore the world from a new point of view. Maybe perhaps if and/or whenever SE decides to take us to the "Talked about so much" Far East we'll get the chance, but then again like I said...it may be too late in the game's life to do.

Yes, but you misunderstood my first response in that I would keep shops like Rosel's armoury how they are and still have the you must be from this nation to get the items available when Sandy is Rank 1. While removing that from the conquest bought items like the musketeer commander's falchion which is bastok residents only.

Aggro already has a notification. Every mob type in the game has a sound effect for when it aggros. You can hear it if your volume is loud enough.

I beg to differ.and not everyone can jack up the volume that loud. but what I am mostly trying to get at is that after they start attacking there's nothing, just the attack which most times can't be heard if the volume is low or is covered up by the areas' music. Not only that but wouldn't it just be better to have a little chime or bell or something when you're too close to aggro monsters? Of course if they all aggro that could be a problem...? I realize it might seem redundant but what I'm trying to suggest is just a much better alert system, a chime or bell is much better and (Hopefully) more alerting than just the noise they make when they spot you and since it IS actually suppose to alert it can be adapted to alert BEFORE you're spotted. And then once you start getting attacked play aggro music.

Other than the sound effect, if you don't have anything targeted when you get aggro'd the target will automatically shift to the monster.

Honestly all SE has to do is balance out all the content to reflect a level cap 99. cut out alliance option, so 18 people aren't standing around killing ghouls for 4 hours, or going to Abyssea after level 30+ and leeching exp til their useful. if more the 6 people are needed for a event, use a system like old style dynamis where a glass was given to each member entering the zone or battlefield. also there are too many ways to teleport or warp, put all that content in one place via npc or device per zone, it's dumb to have one npc to warp/teleport one place and another to warp/teleport 10 steps away from the 1st place. Add option in campaign so players can be on the side of the beastmen, adding abit of pvp would make that content more exciting. make besieged harder, make us work.... as players we mit complain this is a pain and that is sooooo hard, but deep done we will enjoy it, and the same could be said for almost all the content. Chocobo Racing content should have rewards that are a must have, so players will want to do it. I love the idea of trust npcs, let players summon 5 of them, but also give a pt of 6 players a exp bonus of 25% or so, so if u wanna solo u can, but still u have a reason to exp with real players. also with trust npcs, let players create our own trust npc's and gear them too, that will give us as players something to do, by leveling our own trust npc's jobs and gearing them, we will feel like we truely done something. Let players carry more then one linkshell and add special linkshells for players that want to help new players, and give new players the special linkshell at the beginning, if they wanna use it they can, or they can disable it if they wish. Make all gear upgradable, if I wanna use my lvl 1 sword forever, I should be able to upgrade it, it will give players the option of creating their own personal look. and honestly give ffxiv players ffxi for $1 per content ID, give them some reason to come back to ffxi and make a little money too.

ok so what? ok then give me a reason why Iron Plates are only stackable to 12, you can't sell/trade/ah/bazaar them so no reason for them to be 12. there is still no reason for crystals to only be 12, they should be stackable to 99 along with iron plates.

Iron plates or any other Ex magian item SHOULD stack to 99. In my opinion however, the AH problem is reason enough to keep crystals at 12.

Could we please have all of the doors that we don't have to get permission for to open or the ones the npcs behind them are CS only to just open by their selves? This doesn't really effect PC users, but those of us who still play this on the Xbox when we're zoning back to Aht Urhgan after doing NI, or assaults, or salvage even if we get to the door from the portal it ends up closing on us once the pause after zoning bit is done. Though I'm sure everyone wouldn't mind not having to click on all of the doors in this game. Specially when you are just slower than the last person who clicked the door open only to have it try to close on you while you would be in it.

This would break the user experience, as some doors will need to be clicked to open but not others, simply because a particular door might play an event under particular conditions.

Please tell me of any door you can freely go through that doesn't have a load time to it that has an event tied to it that would break the experience for you

Granted, I haven't read the entire thread, so if this has been asked about already, forgive me.
What I'd like to see is a way to augment any existing weapon in game just to bring it to item level 117. There are a number of older weapons in game that had situational uses, but can't be applied to content that's over lv 99, simply because of the missing skill+. A magians trial would really be nice for things like honebami, lv 99 magian weapons, or even just weapons we thought looked nice or had cool names (save the queen? arondight? coffinmaker? kinkobo? rampager? hornetneedle?).

I'd also like this. If they were kept well below the strength of 'up-to-date' weapons I can't see any harm in it. Even make it all one magian trial for each weapon type and have it just add a set amount of skill and DMG+ for each kind of weapon so that say you could upgrade a "ceremonial dagger" but it would still have crap DPS - reflecting the base weapon - but still you could toodle about with it.
I think about people with stuff like sagasinger or the pulse weapons - it would be nice for them to bring them up to the point where they are at least relatively usable - even if they would still not be the best weapon to use.

Including the item help text is superfluous, as you already have it on your screen when you pick it from your inventory to sell it.
Instead, what I'd find useful is seeing how many others are currently for sale. Knowing how much competition there is can help in picking an asking price.

Seeing as how Trust NPCs are so useful, how about adjusting how Adventuring Fellow NPCs work?
I suggest that when you are a lower level than what can earn your npc experience, then summoning him/her should not use up the six hour recast timer.
Also your fellow npc should not eat up a portion of your earned exp unless it is actually going towards a level.

I've got two ideas for quality of life improvements that I've recently encountered:
1. Create a key item that would allow players to open the Operating Levers in Halvung solo. Gurfurlur the Menacing doesn't require six players now to defeat, and having to bring along extras just to open the door to get to him is inconvenient for other players (similar to needing people to press the switches in Garlaige Citadel back in the day). This would also apply to fighting Reacton, a ZNM needed for mythic acquisition and upgrading to 99, since his spawn is past an Operating Lever, I believe.
2. I'm not sure if this has been addressed by a developer or not (I welcome a link if so), but allow porter slips to become Key Items. Currently, if you store gear on a slip and throw away the slip, all of the items stored are lost. While I realize that most players wouldn't do something that reckless, having that extra safety net would be nice. Talking to a Porter Moogle would let you retrieve gear from a particular slip, and trading any of the storable pieces would cause the Porter Moogle to store them and they could be retrieved from their particular slip when talking to the Moogle to retrieve them.

They've already said key item data is identical for every player. The storage slips they had at first for armor were for entire sets, you had to store the complete set at once, and retrieve the complete set at once. Those NPCs are still around. An inventory item can have additional unique data attached, like augments. IIRC, slips were patched a while ago so you can't throw them away if any item is stored in them.

Thank you for the clarification, bungiefanNA. I was not aware of the fact that slips couldn't be thrown if there were items stored in them.

I have some Quality of Life suggestions for Adoulin base content.
1.) Add Chocobos to Adoulin.
-How to solve reive issue?: Simple just add a ??? that chocobos can touch to jump over the reive.
-How to solve cave issue?: We know that there are many caves in adoulin a simple solution would be to add chocobos to the frontiers camps.
2.) Merge the middle lands and adoulin waypoints.
-I see no reason to have them separate they work with the same system.
3.) Add a warp npc to frontier npcs so they can teleport us to reives easily.
-Similar to a campaign warp but only functions within the zone, and only the frontier npc can teleport you.
4.) Separate the zones into more regions.
-Having only an eastern ulbuka clutters up the menu.
5.) Make the zones feel more alive.
-Add more flowers and textures to some of the zones to make them feel more alive, and add roaming npcs.
6.) Add voidwatch and abyssea npcs.
-Would make it easier to get to these locations without going to jeuno, and they could possibility add some voidwatch to adoulin for ilevel accessories.

You must indeed. I don't have a rabbit charm or other +steal gear ... but don't really want to spend 200K on one either. Guess I might have to though, since most of the other +steal gear I see is the AF itself.
I say don't bother, it's only +1 anyway. The failure rate seems to be very random, if I remember it didn't take that long to steal the stew for me but to steal just now for the thief maat fight it took almost 20 freaking tries and I had my AF gear and the rogue ring. And for other characters I've tried with it took less than 6 and most times I just had the ring.

also can we get a Cutscene viewer? like maybe a new area or something that allows you to view all cutscenes that you have previously scene. I mean instead of having to go to each zone, we could have one area to watch all the cutscenes in.
also in the Records of Eminence there seems to be an oversight, if you go to Combat (Region) and go to Original Areas 2, there is no Subjugation for Zeruhn Mines. Why is that? I suppose it's a mistake?

Trying to avoid fast-spinning zdei when the server is literally half a world away really doesn't work. They really should either be slowed down or have a narrower field of view to compensate for lag.

Something needs to be done about the difficulty in getting heavy metal plates. Even when Voidwatch was the main endgame content, it wasn't so easy. now it's borderline impossible. Getting the bleeping alexandrite is easier than this.
Also, make the Magic Damage + on many ilvl staves affect avatars, instead of forcing SMN into just a couple staves with pet MAB (also considering that magic damage+ is better than MAB) while other mages have a broader selection.

I wish. Wish wish wish. This is one of the main reasons why pet jobs pretty much suck entirely compared to non pet jobs. A significant portion of the player's damage potential has total crap for stat boosts and can't generally be buffed. Ugh.

Greetings,
I just wanted to let you know two things the development team is looking into for the future.
First is for Ballista. The team realizes that it is becoming more difficult to acquire Ballista points and they are currently looking into adding Ballista points to the list of items you can purchase with Copper Vouchers. They would like to add this after the May version update.
The second is in regards to the chat log message that appears when changing equipment. They are currently looking to add this to the chat filter so when you change a lot of equipment at one time your chat log won’t get spammed. They believe it should be possible and not take very long to accomplish if they add this text to the “System Level 3” category of the chat filter.
...ballista points? Wot? Can you add meeble pheremone sacks to the purchaseables instead? Why would anyone want points that can only be used to participate in an event no one does?

that would be cool if you could get anything useful or at least cosmetically cool with ballista points...
But I think the reason why they're doing this is because people want to open the diorama for 1v1s or whatever have you, but can't because they can't get any official ballista matches to start. Of course, this is a bandaid for a long-running problem of "ballista doesn't offer anything to anyone and nobody cares about 'for fun' content that offers no gains for their character, therefore nobody participates")
This could be fixed a multitude of other ways but instead of fixing ballista and making it more rewarding/fun, let's just let people get ballista points without having to actually play it. -.-
Honestly, I know you're just the messenger Camate, but can't we get some improvements for older content like this instead of just letting them rot and offering people ways around them? There are a lot of... colorful metaphors... that could describe the situation, but for the sake of these forums, I'll summarize it politely with: "Please, do something to fix the real problem."

Well, they had a chance to fix this when they introduced item level and a bunch of new stats. They made a bunch of things dependent on ilvl, or at least things that are found on all / much of the gear with an item level. I had pushed many times for making avatar strength simply tied to your main weapon DMG rating (For weapons with an item level), or perhaps your average item level in general. But most people didn't seem to like this idea even though every other game does something like it and it makes plenty of sense...

I'll echo the above sentiments. If you give players an incentive to play Ballista, then there will be no need to use a voucher exchange system.
Ballista was one of the most fun events in the game at the 75 cap. I don't know that it would be quite so strategic now that most people can KO others in an instant, but all the same I would love to see Ballista given new life.

Mythic updates for gun and crossbow weapons: in the spirit of fair, which square has always preached, to be even, why can't gun and crossbow have the twice to thrice shot? I mean we don't benefit from double attack or triple attack, and there is very little in the way of double shot gear, on top of the weaponskills being horrible, so why does every other mythic benefit from 2 to 3 hits and we only get double damage?

I still found it pretty playable at lv99 pre-ilvl, but ilvl gear breaks things quite a bit. I would like a lv99 cap option that doesn't allow gear with an item level. But considering they're adding somethign to circumvent the need to even play official matches, I'm interpreting this as "we don't give a crap about it." Stuff like ballista and brenner and belligerency could have been a lot more successful with just a little bit more effort, it's a shame they couldn't put that in. They were almost there with belligerency, as you can get "rewards" from it, the problem is none of the rewards are visible gear nor are they any good, so there is no incentive for players to be gladiators (even though monipulators actually benefit from having their belligerency flag on)

Instead? How difficult do you think it would actually be to add 2 things?
I am sure the answer will be some bunk about how this is tied to mythic difficulty or something
But why the dumb doors in halvung? I decided to try out zeni NMs for the first time tonight, used a login points item to get the KI so I could buy a Dextrose pop... and now I am in halvung wondering why I need to drag 3 other people out in order to open a door. Please allow solo opening of all doors in the game. This is just silly. I was having fun until this needless cockblock just showed up. What a bummer.
Also if I'm mistaken and I can get to Dextrose solo, I'd love to know about it, but from the looks of it I am locked out by a door that requires multiple people to open. Not worth dragging multiple people out to pop dextrose these days.

I was wondering about Garrison System?
I wanted to know if there would be any high tier Garrisons would be implemented for 99 jobs and above but I was wondering if it would be possible to do this in the adoulin side of things or abdoulin area's but of course there are already skirmishes that are like the garrison system in Adoulin's outer area's. I would hope Garrison gets a refresh revival at some point with a magnificent magnitude of rewarding rewards and also like to see current Garrison places or outposts to have their level restrictions completely abolished perhaps as well. I would also like to see it be possible to do solo-man/solo-woman garrisons as well.
I know there are quite a few players who wouldn't like this to happen simply because of possible chat log spam of stuff happening from people doing garrison while someone else is leveling a job, skilling, spawning nm's, farming crafted items near the outpost while a garrison event is taking place but couldn't the folks doing the garrison be invisible to those who aren't doing the garrison event in maybe a burning circle enter type of way?

I want to see the doors being able to go solo as well. I know there is at least one rod pull down door in halvung that you can attempt to pull down on it but don't get anywhere but your character giving up on it with tuckered out hands to being one of them darn doors.

I totally Agree with you on changing the doors in halvung to be more solo based players then multiple characters who would just have to head back after you get that darn door open provided you manage to get anyone willing to even head clear out there just help you open a door. I know there is at least one door that has a giant rod pull down lever, if you attempt to have your character pull down on that lever then nothing happens except for your character stating that he or she has tuckered out their hands pulling down on it.

I think it's about time the "Other" category on the auction house was broken down into some different sections. It's rather ballooned out.

I'd really appreciate it if there were more logging points.
I'm trying to find walnuts for crafting, and supposedly they're easiest to find in Jugner Forest (S). Well I've been here an hour and found four logging points.
Each disappeared within 1-2 hatchet swings, and then I have to run to one of the four corners of the map to hope for another logging point. I also have to switch out my gear if I get seen by a gnole while logging. (using field gear)
Or please make an npc that sells baking goods in Adoulin, including Walnuts.

so I posted a rather lengthy list/explanation of things in another thread on accident, so here is list of things I've noticed and that many other people have mentioned too .. but worth saying over and over and over until the dev team listens:
Any door(s) that req more than 1 person to open need a KI that allow players to open them solo (Halvung & Eld. Necropolis come to mind right off the bat). If that is not possible then there should be a path around these door so all areas can be access SOLO (yes part of the game is forming parties and having fun as a group, but mundane question does not fall under the fun category for everyone).
Either increase the drop rates/amounts/monsters that drop Heavy Metal Plates & Alexandrite or cut the required amounts for these items in half for their respective legendary weapons (With a minimum of 100 days [50 for captain 50 for the quest] to do all the assaults and 52 days to get the icor needed for the eye patch you are not going to over quicken the obtain-ability of a mythic).
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REMOVE LOTTERY NMs and make them all just str8 up timed spawns PLEASE!
That's my thoughts on QoL for us. :3

Sorry I'm alittle late replying to this and my apologies to Camate and the Dev team, but this type of implementation is not needed simply because like many have said before me, there's no incentive to participate in said content. Not many people care for the rewards offered from racking up points and so adding this option to RoE npc would really be a waste of time.
Once again I'll throw out my suggestion from earlier in this thread and ask that anyone in favor of this idea to either comment below or like this post. How about re-implementing the Ballista and Brenner tournaments you guys use to have a few years back with Vana'fest being the main stage for the championship event? Not only would this draw the attention of a lot of players, but also there are more than enough items in-game to warrant a reasonable reward for the winner(s).
There's enough PvP type content in the game now and not enough reason to do it. Ballista, Brenner, Pankatron, and Belligerence are all PvP content that are all content that's really just collecting dust because not many people do them.
So please reconsider the implementation of such a thing.

I love that they reduced the timers on the Aht Urhgan Kings but they really need to do something about the Operation Lever. They are easily soloable yet I cannot get the last one, Gurfurlur the Menacing, due to no one willing to help open the Operation Lever door. Atleast put a quest in like you did for the Weighted Doors in Quicksand Caves.

Well unless i'm bugged, when I use it .. I dont get mp back, I dont see any effects with it whatsoever.

Not all mobs have mp pools, and like other sambas it doesn't work on undead. Have you tried it with a mob that casts magic?

Lol 1st time I think I got filed under the troll label. Too bad we might never know if they were trying to aspir on non aspir able mobs or not. Should be happy this isn't an older FF title or he might think he was really bugged if we was trying to use it on undead. -.-

Not sure if this has been requested yet, but wouldn't another macro button like shift be rather handy to have. I understand there would be limitations for ps2 players, but stiiillll... would be nice to have.
Ah, how about a store/guild linkshell? Like as soon as you go to the store or guild they offer you a linkshell so that you can access their store anytime and buy? Then if you need a spell but don't have it you can buy it and either have it automatically sent or if that's too hard just like mail it to your moghouse. If someone already suggested it and it was shot down I apologize for reasking but sometimes when I am out leveling and need a new spell...

This never really was a PvP game, it was just something they added that people got bored with fairly quickly.

Greetings, everyone.
The development team realizes that needing 5-6 people to open the door in Halvung with the Operating Lever is not quite fitting for solo play, and they will be looking to address this to make it easier to solo Aht Urhgan missions.
While I don’t have a specific implementation date to share at the moment, once I have follow-up information I will be sure to share.

I may have mentioned it in this thread, but I'd be OK if they implemented something like the rocks in Kuftal Tunnel where they switch at certain times of the day. With a partner you could still travel at your own pace, but if all you have it solo, you could get just wait a little bit.
