Ah I guess a good q.o.l. would be to finally let us get signet from the field manuals and ground tomes. At the very least ground tomes, huffing all the way back and losing prowess to boot is bad.

This never really was a PvP game, it was just something they added that people got bored with fairly quickly.
It doesn't have to be a "PVP game" for the PvP to be an enjoyable addition that is well implemented. They simply dropped the ball on it.
There's a difference between being a "PvP game" (read: all about PvP) and a game that "has PvP" (read: a fun and enjoyable PvP activity contained within it). I'm tired of people reacting to any discussion of PvP with "it's not a PvP game."
You should have seen how many people were involved in ballista when it first came out. Balance / technical things is a pretty small part of why it died off. The real reason, as with virtually all content in this game, is lack of incentive or reward for participating. They tried adding some rewards with belligerency (which, if you're really dedicated, you can farm up without ever PvPing) but they are pretty terrible, which is sad considering how hard it can be to beat monipulators. So with no incentive to participate, unsuprisingly nobody's doing it. It's not because it's not fun, its becasue all MMOs are driven by promise of reward and these events simply didn't deliver. Ballista didn't even offer any COSMETIC rewards unless you count the prizes from the ballista royale (which I'm pretty certain all or nearly all of the items ever given out for that have been lost to the sands of time / players that quit)
At least FFXIV's PvP is decently rewarding. It's not a main focus by any means, but it isn't throwaway content that is made and then forgotten by the devs.

actually from what i saw, pvp died because everyone got into endgame, wether it was hnm camping, sky, sea, dynamis, assault, whatever, amd kist dodmt have time for it anymoe, and yes they didnt add incentives to do it. It was basically filler content that people were doing until they could start doing the content they really wanted to do. So wether you want to hear about this not being a pvp game or not, that is basically the fact.
If pvp were so important to players in the game then they would be doing it regardless of incentives. I was looking at the graphs from their survey the other day, and most of us havent done monstrosity even though that is geared toward pvp these days, its really not one of those types of games.

Aww and here I thought swooping was bad.
A lot of people hasn't done monstrosity because the current PvP sucks and they want to do it in a party. For most of the forgotten small just for S&G events the reason why they died is not because everyone needed a filler til they were doing end game events but because the rewards were crap or there was none. Only thing worth while from anything was the mannequin parts that dropped from garrison.

Greetings,
There have been requests in the past about adding new categories to the search comment feature, and we mentioned that it would be difficult to do. However, below is a comment from Producer Akihiko Matsui in regards to addressing this and possibly adding a linkshell category to this feature.
Matsui here.
As the Trial of the Magians category is not being used very much and there is a possibility to combine both the mission and quest categories into a single category, we will be looking into whether we can use that space to add a linkshell recruitment category.
If there are other types of search comment categories you would like to see, please let us know your feedback!

As the Trial of the Magians category is not being used very much
I believe that's because the whole Magian system is obsolete. People on Leviathan used to use the search category when Trial of the Magians was relevant.

Trials of the Magians is only dead because it's not useful anymore, the item level era has no place for weapons of level 99 limitations. The only trials you might still see done are the Empyrean ones and those are dead because no changes were ever made to the Empyrean upgrade path to make it more achievable nor has the Empyrean Armor been enhanced as of yet. There was a fairly good idea of making these things into accessories after hitting 99, items that could live on in a post-item level FFXI as useful pieces of gear. I would be more than happy to make some extra weapons if you gave me for instance a 4 STR & 5 Atk Earring that's WAR only in return for trading in a level 99 STR Great Axe. The same goes with something such as PDT Earrings, Dual Wield(from OAT/OA2~4 kinda weapons) or Double Attack(Double Attack Weapons) Earrings/Rings. There's a ton of conceivable ways to make Magians worth while again, but to say the system is dead in a way that sounds like it's unexpected is only stating the obvious when it's a result of your own actions.

Magian moogles, or trial of the Magians worded by the devs. Though I think most go Magian trials if not doing shorthand.

Hello, everyone!
Though I'm sure many of you might have already procured your ranger artifact armor, the development team feels that having to wait for full moons is a bit of a hurdle and would like to look into adjustments that still fit with the story. They’ll be aiming to do this sometime after the June version update.

Question: Does it annoy anyone else that when you use a waypoint in adoulin areas outside the city that the zone you are in is NOT the first option (It is the third teleportation option)? and further more that the description for how to use them is above any teleportation options? Arent descriptions and help usually on the bottom of the list? And if you are out and about in adoulin isnt it safe to assume you know how to use one of these things since you had to use one to even get to Adoulin? I am all for less moving up or down in a menu than I really should have to doing everyday things.

Iron Plates arent mulable? cause i swear My mule was holding the one i had gotten randomly for a couple years before i started farming them up for ochain. My mule has been holding alot of empy weapon items for a long time for me. I agree though i wish more was mulable. I been holding onto some random attests and fragments for a long time and this week tried to send them, to my joy it worked! I swear at one point i had tried to do this and i couldnt. I read somewhere the new JSE weapons they added werent mulable as well, but i dont have one so im unsure if that is true.

Here's a Suggestion: Make it possible to allow for mythic weapon to be changed mid-quest without losing progress. You can't really expect anyone to horde 30k alex in anticipation of possibly changing weapons midway. It may not be possible but I'd like it to be considered since you all have to revisit the code for mythic to input GEO and RUN anyways.

Something I've been wondering lately is about Utsusemi overwrite status.
As everybody knows by now, Utsusemi: Ni overwrites itself and Utsusemi: Ichi, whereas the latter overwrites only itself.
People who wants to cast Utsusemi: Ichi and not go to waste when one or multiple Utsusemi: Ni shadows are still active, needs to cancel the Utsusemi: Ni buff before the Utsusemi: Ichi one completes its casting.
"Pro" players have been doing this for years with "Cancel" and other third party addons, everybody else has been doing it by manually cancelling the buff.
In the past, I defined this as one of the factors who set a difference between "good" and "bad" players.
I think I've kinda changed my mind nowadays.
It's just a silly and useless mechanic which should be changed.
Every Utsusemi should be able to overwrite everything, period.
Lambtor
04-28-2014, 11:13 PM
This would lead to a game mechanic issue. If you do this for ichi, then why not for all buffs (most recent cast overwrites any existing buff)? Would you want this for protect (pro 4 overwrite a 5)? shell? If you pick and choose which buffs always overwrite themselves, how would you expect to remember which ones do and which ones don't?

This would lead to a game mechanic issue.
What kind of "mechanic issue" were you thinking about in particular?
If you do this for ichi, then why not for all buffs
Why should they?
It makes sense to do it for Utsusemi which, let me remind you, it's a self-cast buff.
Why should they do it for everything just because they do it for Utsusemi? What's the logic behind it?
Demonjustin

Not only is it self cast but it's actually beneficial to us. Letting Shell IV overwrite Shell V would be bad, Shell IV is superior, but when I cast Utsusemi: Ichi on myself I get the exact same effect buff on my RDM/NIN as I get when I cast Utsusemi: Ni. I'm sure each spell has a setting to itself in this respect as well, kinda like who it can be cast on, which is why Ni can overwrite Ichi or Ni, but Ichi can only overwrite itself. By changing Ichi they shouldn't need to change all of the other ones in the way I think you may also be suggesting. If we're wrong on this I'm sure we'd be told, but I admittedly would doubt it either way because it's either insanely poor design, or not designed that way, no good can come of designing something in a game that makes it so that to change one small thing you must change a thousand others as well.

As far as quality of life goes the grand daddy of them all would be removing JP midnight restrictions from everything. Missions, quests, everything.
Create alternate methods of obtaining the currency required to forge Relic/Mythic/Empyrean Weapons such as through the job point system.
Remove the 1500 HMP requirement for Empyrean weapons(This is ridiculous) and make it a more manageable 150-300~ to reforge.
Make it easier to obtain scoria/umbral marrow(like make ADL/PW drop 3-6). The current method for obtaining an afterglow weapon is extreme enough, obtaining a regular R.M.E Weapon should not be.

I bet everyone could agree on this one: I wish we could hold as many sparks of eminence as we can hold curor or bayld.
I was keying my thf in aby earlier (dnc has capped skills so no reason not to), when the timed challenge gain experience popped up, after two hours I'd gained 30k sparks which took me to cap, and I had to choose between leveling or turning in sparks and starting back in aby with 200 minutes and low xp. I chose leveling, but I don't think we should have to choose between dropping everything to turn in sparks or not getting more sparks, because right now sparks are one of the most important things in the game to a lot of people

I may have written it wrong, but I mean that a person who solos 10 floors should get the same amount of tokens as a group of 6 should get for the same amount. Since Nyzul is an entirely useless event now there's no excuse for this. Either that, or allow us to exchange copper vouchers for nyzul tokens and ichor.

This game far too often gives low man groups the same power as a full party or alliance when it comes to content completion and it results in excluding people becoming not only common but often times more beneficial. I'm happy that we can solo/lowman things, I'm not happy that soloing/lowmaning things has become the norm and in the cases of content like Delve is actually better for you than teaming up. Nyzul may itself be more of an example of content that needs a boost in general, but for most content I hate that kind of design. Nyzul is admittedly dead enough it shouldn't matter either way, participation will likely be dead as a doornail either way they went about it.

There is if they want their weapon to unlock the ws though. They are taking out most JP midnights/day waits that they can without making everything a just rezone to progress.
I do agree with the multi ways of getting things mainly due to low population playing the game these days. The length of time one spends just shouting for help for events vs actually doing them is hugely off set.

I like your idea but wondering if they should reduce the cost a bit as well. Also, I would like more chances to become more experienced in the limbus areas including if I flub up and I am out of time shortly with a long wait time but still like to see how well I could do with more chances to do this solo even. I wonder if they will eventually let us use trust npc's in these old area's such as limbus floors as well??

The most common thing to happen to games is new content always eventually making the older stuff totally obsolete. Like quests for the first expansion ever to come out for an example: The quest where you have to gather a party of 4 to 6 people to head to an npc in kuftal tunnel under level 40 restriction placed upon the party, that quest is really no good in the game anymore and the only other point really to it was possibly mainly fame if it even was meant to raise fame. Another example of obsolete by using quest echo warrior as just another example of to much newer content replacing the old but leaving the old still in the game when it has certainly past its time to remain in the game.
Can you bring any more examples of this type of obsolete in the old into the new with any of the game content?
I was wondering if there was anyone out there or in this thread that could give <my thread: {The Reason to why most chocobo riding or Anything chocobo related seems dead anymore!} <-[or obsolete instead of dead] <a boost with your ideas on chocobos and new directions we could possibly take with them and current system or new systems we could come up with for the chocobo's in ffxi under my thread which is anything goes, anything chocobo related.
I would greatly appreciate it since it is kind of related to the quality of life inside vana'diel\FFXI.

There is zero incentive for anyone to help with it.That's kinda what I was getting at though. There's 0 incentive to team up with most content, I think Nyzul should have the token rate increased overall honestly but I still feel like more people should mean more tokens, that way there is an incentive to team up rather than solo. I also think more weapons should drop on floor 100 of the original and more alex should drop in Neo. If they were to allow each mob in Neo to have a chance of dropping Alex(10~20%?) and every NM dropped Alex 100% of the time with a chance at a purse(10~20% again) and then the bosses on 20/40/60/80 were to drop purses 100% of the time while linens had a chance of dropping, you could see a lot more people doing Nyzul in a heart beat, and since Nyzul requires others to progress, it incentivizes working together to an extent.

I see a single Nyzul shout at most once a week, I leave a character logged in at almost all times, so either I'm overlooking them somehow or they're just not happening on Phoenix. If one server is without them, there are bound to be others the same. In either case, once Nyzul can be soloed(provided they're still going to change it so it can be as they said) those shouts will also shrivel up because people will be able to solo it. Assuming we're talking about old-game NI, my mule solo'd floor 1-->100 on PUP, it took a while because when you get the five lamps in order and they are on a complex map, or you get the 5 lamps same time, you have to warp and try again. Had good days with clearing lots of floors, but bad days with unlucky lamp floors. Its totally random luck and if you are soloing you need to be prepared to waste a lot of tags on fail /warpout runs. But it is possible my mule did it, although I will say it was certainly a big headache and absolutely zero fun. Less than zero, minus digits fun.

I wasn't meaning to imply it's not possible, it's just not really gonna happen without a lot of painful and annoying failures in the process due to lamps. The change they said they'd be doing was incorporating Trust NPCs into Nyzul in a way they could actually do the lamp floors with you. Mind you that's likely still a ways off since even a basic party system has yet to be introduced, it's still something that's in the works so far as we know. Once that's done the pain should be gone, it'll be 20 runs to go from 1 to 100 and any run someone wants to do just for a weapon will be just as easily completed with Trusts.

Well, my server has quite an active JP community with tons of JP /shout on JP time, some pt doesn't even need to /shout, they just recruit via /seacom. I've been seeing a lot of Einherjar/Nyzul /shout for sure. If you see Einherjar /shout you can probably ask them if they need Nyzul, most likely they'll need it.
On NA time it's pretty dead though, if you want token you probably need to stalk people in Einherjar/Nyzul making mythic and team up with them.

If you see Einherjar /shout you can probably ask them if they need Nyzul, most likely they'll need it.I can't read Japanese, nor do I think it should be a requirement to play the game/a truly acceptable work around for the game's issues. I do look up through shouts when I wake up however to check and see if anything I needed was shouted for, I figure if someone shouts for something uncommon like Tenzen or Ouryu they may do it again while I'm on so I like to keep an eye out, that being said unless the shout is in Japanese I shouldn't be missing it, and Nyzul shouts just aren't happening. As for hitting people up who do Einherjar I admit that should probably work provided they're not full.
On NA time it's pretty dead though, if you want token you probably need to stalk people in Einherjar/Nyzul making mythic and team up with them. The fact it's dead is the issue and why something needs changed. As for your advice, it's no real solution. Saying that you should just wait for some Einherjar needing people to do Nyzul isn't bad advice in the mean time but they still need to change it and especially before Trusts can be used in the content.
But in the end be it Nyzul or not we need more/better rewards for having more people, if we don't this will only continue to get worse and worse while people take fewer and fewer people, or don't even try to get more people. Meeble Burrows had that system and it encouraged people to fill the party even when you didn't need to just for extra points, if we had that kind of incentive in more content like XP, Job Points, Delve, you name it, these would be a lot more inclusion in this game than the exclusion we see right now.
That's what I'm talking about though, right now it's terrible to solo.
I don't see how trust NPCs could possibly do lamp floors. Why don't they just remove lamps from normal Nyzul - seems like it would be less of a programming headache.

Why don't they just remove lamps from normal Nyzul - seems like it would be less of a programming headache.I'm assuming an extra option in the lamp dialog for 'same time' floors that would allow you to leave NPCs there. For instance the current way would be changed to something like...
The Runic Lamp appears to need to be activated at the same time as all others on this floor.
-Activate Lamp
-Leave Lion at Lamp
-Leave Prishe at Lamp
-Leave Ulmia at Lamp
-Ignore Lamp
By picking to leave a NPC they would automatically be activated upon the player choosing to activate one.
So far as orders go I think that one they just don't bother with changing. In either case I won't disagree that it does seem like it'd be difficult to do with what limited AI the Trust NPCs have.

How about an introduction in allowing more tags to be procured to do the floors solo on top of all that has been suggested but I also know you would hate to leave the floors and come back to it, specially if you are in the between floors that qualify your run up floors as completed.
predatory
05-03-2014, 04:36 PM
why not just make it so you can exit at any floor and have your disk recorded for that floor if you are completed to that one? Or have your disk record the last floor you completed so if you got lamps on say 22 you could exit and get help then come back to floor 22 and work your way up again, the whole five floor thing seems kind of ridiculous for the solo environment this game seems to be heading for

That is the main reason i dont do HNM pops from logins anymore. tired of a mad rush at the end to pop those. The only reason i could see multiple ??? being a prob is i think king behemoth still hits everyone. imagine 3 KBs out meteoring everone at once
And also bout guild holidays. its pretty stupid when there is a holiday (you dont have to be at work) but the npc is still there (at work) what is the point of these anyways is there a mega stocking event that happens after the holiday is over?
Usually the day after the holiday is when the price of everything is the cheapest and they do APPEAR to restock, but it might be that they restock after hours too. Either way they could just as easily get around that by having an unlimited amount of everything and have it be a set of price for guild and nonguild members, after all what is the point of joining the guild if eventually you'll be paying just as much for it as nonmembers?

I'd suggest that you use login points before then end and then pop them before the rush.... but I am human too and always scramble at the last minute to use the points as well so I know why it happens.

I thought about that too. There really needs to be 3 ??? adds. Just as you exit tunnel on either side put a ??? that only spawns Behemoth. Then in the back corners 1 on each side, another ??? that spawns only KB. That would keep everyone distanced from one another, and keep the lines short.

It really would be nice if the NPCs disappeared for the guild holiday. That way you'd not go all the way there and talk to them only to find they won't sell you anything. You'd be able to wide scan and check if anybody's in the shop.

It's kind of bs the adding reality crap because here in the states a lot of businesses are open 7 days a week, especially stores, and the guild shop is just an over glorified store, about the only thing i can think of that close down for a day or two at most are government offices and banks, everyone else likes making money too much, so the reality is the guild shops should stay open 7 days a week if realism is what they're after

The worst bit with guild holidays is when you get to one and it's closed already and you get told the next day is a holiday. Then the dumb store opens "later" than the other stores on their next open day. Only to find out they haven't restocked the item you were hoping to get. The whole not stocked everyday thing, but only one day of a vana week for some items turns into a headache. I wouldn't mind it if the holidays stayed if they were always stocked with everything they are known to sell.

I remember guild shops sayin "We are only open between 1 and 17" then when the time came i click them and "Oh its a holiday!" Thank god they say its a holiday all day now at least. the other reason i dont do the HNM pops from logins is you cant send them via delivery box which is super frustrating. it forces u to trade them between a mule and a 3rd party (requiring some amount of trust) and also limits u to do them slowly. they could kill the lines if they allowed us to send them to ourselves or mules. Its not like having them undeliverable serves much purpose. ur still gonna have to go to town to get it out of DB but u dont have to inconvience someone else to trade them around.

So I have noticed the old holiday events that SE still puts out in doing is really dead these days and I wonder if it is the same on your server or not? I see no one really attending these events any more and not even big groups around em anymore but SE still dishes out the yearly monthly events, I began to wonder if no one is really into doing them anymore should they remain in the game or not?
I like to see if it would be better to expand the horizon of the old events to locked usual areas expanded to be more newer local areas such as adoulin or the past once upon a time and even other area's you guys think off the top of your noggins. I think it be rather interesting to see the feast of swords as an example running around Yorcia Weald, Foret de Hennetiel, Marjami Ravine, Kamihr Drifts, Outer Ra'Kaznar, etc. area's would fun and more local then the old areas for the planed events and such.
~Outer Ra'Kaznar definitely would be a fun place to run around in and do the swords holiday event in my own opinion and now what do you all think? do think a change of areas is needed for the holiday events to be more convenient or plausible option in doing them? These events were all based in pre-aby, pre-level sync/book burn times, and at the time you could get a few gils or a free piece of equipment that was pretty sweet for leveling either a subjob or a new job with, now they're just kind of stupid because people solo nakey to 30 then go key until 99, it's pretty much something to ignore. When was the last time you saw someone chasing around a buffalo with a wooden GK or even camping the moogles at easter? it's just some weird well this was popular in 2004-2007 thing so we gotta do it forever and endlessly crap. There's only one event I can think of that people actually do from those days anymore, and that's the big once a year lottery, the rest of it's just a weak attempt on SEs part to say they do cool stuff. If they added relevant stuff to the miniquests or whatever you call them it would be different, but they don't it'fs all just horseshit

People on shiva still do at least the Easter and mummor. Maybe Halloween as well. Lol shows when you stopped doing the buffalo event, predatory. It hasn't been the original version for years now which sucks cause I would rather get randomly warped while whacking on a giant buffalo instead of trying to get matching buffaloes to a moogle any day. I wish they would remove party requirements for mission battlefields.
I'm currently stuck on Adoulin mission 2-17 and can't even attempt the fight solo because you are forced to enter with 3 other people. And considering my luck with WotG I'll probably be stuck on this mission for a very long time not even being able to enter.

can we get a Cutscene viewer? like maybe a new area or something that allows you to view all cutscenes that you have previously scene. I mean instead of having to go to each zone, we could have one area to watch all the cutscenes in.
also in the Records of Eminence there seems to be an oversight, if you go to Combat (Region) and go to Original Areas 2, there is no Subjugation for Zeruhn Mines. Why is that? I suppose it's a mistake?
also could you put Iron Plates and Colorless Souls into the login points events?

Be proactive and shout for people. Let them know that they get 10k bayld for entering to help, if they've already beaten the fight. While it's not a large incentive atm, bayld might be in more demand after this next update, with new gear, and Geo/Run Ergon weapons possibly using large amounts of it.

I think they have said in the past that the cutscenes are tied to the zones they take place in themselves. I would love to watch storyline missions straight through (using my character) but it might not be mechanically feasible to move everything around.

now a lot of those holiday events will hold you to opening up room which you really don't have to put past weapons, armor, furnishings, etc. just so you won't be getting them again which does suck but I wonder if SE would ever get the event npc's such as the moogles to realize you all ready have that item obtained but they are just sitting in the event item storage npc or on a moogle storage slip as to not have to have it sitting in your inventory, taking up space just to avoid not getting those same items again and it be smarter and more convenient if you could just leave them on the storage slip or npc and knows you got it there while out get the newer item or items.

Here's some more from me
1) New Main City Rank Missions. After eleven years, you would think we would have had this by now. I know SE is busy working on new quests/missions for the SoA expansion, but the main cities have become long forgotten. It's like everything occurring in the main three cities just stop at rank 10. Not sure how correct my math is with Vana'diel time, but I think a year in Vana'diel time is like a month Real life/Earth Time. So it would be nice to see what's going on in the lives of certain main city npcs since the end of the rank 10 missions. Even Jeuno could be involved seeing as how with Kam'lanaut no longer the Grand Duke after the events in RoTZ, there has yet to be a new Grand Duke named. So while it'll probably be awhile until after Adoulin is finish, breathing new life into the main cities would be nice.
2) Resurrect Kazham. Kazham, oh my dear Kazham, oh how do I have memories of taking up camp inside the small Mithran Village while waiting for a party invite. Chasing/following around the roaming Opo-opo npc while waiting for a party invite. What happened? SE has completely purged all knowledge of Kazham's existence. When the "Ease of Exploration" moogle power was added, Kazham was nowhere to be found on the list. Even with the addition of the waypoints, Kazham is not an option in the list. I wonder if new players to the game even know that this forgotten place even exists. There hasn't even been a decent up to date quest placed in Kazham since lord knows when. My suggestion, SE please remember that Kazham and the Elshimo area does still exist. Can we see some new life given to Kazham, some new npcs, new quests maybe? Give us reason to return here after we're done with the Elshimo/Ifrit's Cauldron/Sea Serpent Grotto portion of our AF quests and after we've finished the RoTZ quests not to mention Ifrit Trial quest and the teleport scroll quest. Because after that what other reason do we have to come here when we can just OP warp to the ones in either Elshimo Uplands/Lowlands?
3) Campaign Battles and Besieged expansions When these were released for their respective expansions, despite the lag issues, were great ideas. They were what made the game fun and made you feel like you were apart of the game's story/lore. But in typical SE fashion, they are forgotten and become over-shadowed, by newer content that eventually meet the same fate. I know this has been mentioned before, but it would be nice to see these type of events expanded to the present main city areas or something like that. Beastmen lurk right outside of the four main cities not to mention the Beastmen strongholds that inhabit the area not to far off, and I find it weird that they haven't tried to attack. For successful completion of these battles, the player would receive a nice reward.
4) PvP Let's be honest, PvP in XI has never really shined its brightest. Back when XI was at it's peak, it's shining era...I remember SE use to have Ballista or Brenner tournaments. Over the years, the idea for PvP was lost and forgotten. It made a brief reappearance in the form of Pankatron, but that never really went anywhere. With the introduction of Belligerency, PvP in XI makes a reappearance once more, but...I rarely see anyone taking part in this. My suggestion, make PvP worth doing. Give people a reason to want to do PvP. Reintroduce the tournaments at the yearly Vana'Festivals. Or better yet have a yearly tournament where the champions of each region meet for the final championship match at Vana'Fest.
5)Chocobo Raising/Racing Chocobo breeding and racing gives me the biggest headache. Why? Because you have so little control over the chocobo that you bred and worked hard to raise. Starting with breeding a chocobo, everyone has a yellow chocobo chick until it reaches it adolescent stage where you begin to see the colors of its feathers. The frustrating part of this is, you have to be careful of what you feed you chick if you're going for a certain color. What makes this worse is the chances of receiving a blue/black/red/green chocobo are pretty much very slim. And what happened to the white chocobo? What is SE racist against Albino Chocobos? I mean it's in the dats, so why can't we get one? Suggestion, SE please make it easier to obtain a blue/black/red/green chocobo without having to buy and raise 20-30 eggs. Moving into Chocobo Racing. Why was this even introduced if we weren't even going to have any form of control over our chocobos? What makes it worse is that the rewards aren't even worthwhile. Suggestion, Give us a reason to explore and actually enjoy this content. Allow us to have more control over what our chocobo does (ie: sprinting, items used by the jockey riding our chocobos). And introduce items worth doing to content for such as items that allow you to permanently increase your chocobo's stats or allow to increase their movement speed when riding them. SE brings in some great content, but then either doesn't execute it right or just lets it fade into obscurity.
I'll probably have some more suggestions later, but that's what I could think of at the time.
Ive been raising chocobos sence that update long ago..... ive made racers and diggers ive mixed and matched different colors the best ive been able to get was pale green with gold wing tips ....food color dosent matter or ud have a few orange and a lot more green ones ive raised over 70 chocos though the years

why not putting them at 99 ?
3. Merit point group
For now we have limit per group ( 15 merit point HP/MP)
Why not putting a max level for HP and a amx elvel for MP for exemple
Max level 10 for HP AND MP
Same with strength I see max level in WS which is 3 so why not putting the same limit for everything else instead of group limit
4. Signet sanction etc.
The time duration is differnet between each Buffs
Why not putting the same Time duration as Signet which last quite long
Most of the other suggestion I wanted to ask is already been asked

Signet and Sanction buffs at least vary on duration based on your rank. I am sure the same is true for sigil tho i have no idea on ionis, that sheet is way to short lasting. The max on safe storage ect is 80 because PS2 can only look at 160 spots at one time (when you check your inventory u see 80 on one and 80 in the other) I have no idea how they get away with having 50 temp items listed tho.
"Ease of Exploration" doesnt have kazam listed cause you have to do the quest at 25 to get there, and the other places "Ease of Exploration" takes you to you could potentially get there at any level. This is my guess.

Ionis length doesn't get boosted just the amount of buffs you get from it does based on col ranks. Unless having legendary status for all of the Cols extends the time.

Similarly, it will also become possible to challenge these battles along with alter egos, so this is a perfect time to catch up on the missions if you are behind!
Additionally, we’ll be lowering the required number of participants for Skirmish from three to one. :)
So many good news for me today. XD
With this only Campaign ops (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/39936-dev1179-Campaign-S-Ops) will be left to change to allow players to enter solo. I know those are low priority, but maybe one day. d(^^d)

Greetings,
Wishing you could play the classic themes from Chains of Promathia or Aht Urhgan once again while on the title screen? We asked the development team if they could add an option to the configuration to change the BGM and they said they will be looking into it. :)
Oh my God, yes! Please, please, please bring back Unity! ; ;

Just Awesomeness!! Totally Sweet and cant wait for it to happen to have more options to play more FFXI Music on the Title screens or other ares that play music before entering the game, such as news announcements area of the Playonline Viewer Main screen\screens or the login screen before it would be nice, whether it is on pc or gaming console.

Love this Idea as well as being ability to have your Alter ego's in pt or an alliance pt with other players and even inside of a lot of battlefields they normally cant enter with you. now if they add this same feature to your Adventuring fellow as well as giving the ability to enter the older level restriction bcnm, ksnm etcetera with beastmen currency bought burning circle battlefields then we be set for more greatness coming into FFXI. Yes Please and Thank You!! :o ;)

Here is an interesting suggestion: Why not make it so that the vouchers can be exchanged for Nyzul Tokens and Therion Ichor? Even if it's not the standard "1000" points I believe it will make Mythic much more feasible. It's becoming harder and harder to get people to participate in these older events, especially if they aren't building a mythic themselves.

Greetings,
After making it possible to enter seal battlefields with Trust alter egos in the June version update, we’ve determined a bug that removes buffs upon entry. As this is a bug that is closely tied to the system changes that allow alter egos to enter these battlefields, it will take a bit of time to fix.
On the positive side, we have been looking into changing battlefield rules. In particular, we’d like to change the system so that when entering a battlefield the cool downs of all special abilities, job abilities, and magic spells are reset. We feel this will allow you to repeat battlefields more easily and also encourage you to employ special abilities into your strategies better.
With this system change, you’ll be able to use special abilities outside of battlefields and then reuse them again once you enter a battlefield, which is why we had planned to implement a feature that removes all of your buffs upon entry.
As this is a very large change, we’d like to look into this very carefully, but I wanted to give you all a heads up. :)
The team is working towards fixing this bug as well as making this change in the August version update.

Hello everyone,
the last update was great, stackable materials are AWESOME more detailed TP is unusual but something you can easily adjust to and then it is great. There are a few suggestions I have as a kind of follow up on those changes now that I played a bit with them:
1. TP for party members:
Are Trust NPCs not considered party members? If so, is it a bug that those do not have TP displays like other party members now do? It was mentioned Ayame would be super helpful in skill chaining now, I however believe that is only really utilizable when we actually know her TP, so we don't hold back for ages while she is stuck at 500 TP or so.
Hence I'd suggest to enhance this feature to not only include human party members but also Trust NPCs and probably even Adventuring fellows (even though that would make the fierce attacker trait of announcing their TP a bit useless)
2. Avoiding decimals with x10 values:
We got our TP values displayed with a x10 value now to get rid of decimals which is rather neat for testing out just how much STP you need to achieve an x-hit build without having to do the TP formula math. You can simply "read it off the screen". The game sadly has other decimal values though most noticable in skills and especially with crafting skills it is an "annoyance". Say I am at woodworking 64. I have no clue whether I am at 64.1 or 64.8 after a long crafting break of a few weeks. SO it is hard to judge the required materials to rise another level. Same goes for fighting skills but it is less important there due to the ease of how they are gained.
Suggestion: Multiply the skills value displayed by 10 in order to avoid decimals and enable us to see exactly how much skill we have, just like you did with TP OR make the decimals actually visible in the status menu.
Sincerely,
Leylia

:p Yeah but wont this change or rule changes just add to the cost of time ticking away inside the battlefield due to the fact that you have to recast all your buffs to complete the job your about to do inside the battlefield now and if that is the case, shouldn't time be adjusted to allow rebuffing inside the battlefield as well camate??

Will it stop dismissing our pets when we enter a battlefield then? Because resetting Call Wyvern and Activate on entry are all well and good, but BST loses an item every single fight. While we're on this, can Jug pets stop despawning on every area change, something no other pet in the game does?

I think I got a suggestion that I think should be considered. Is there any way to lift the 1 mil restriction on mailing gil between charas on the SAME account only? I know why it was put in place (to mess up RMT) but for some of us that sell big ticket items on mules, it gets to be a major pain to have to make several muling trips to get the gil to your main.
I think the restriction should stay for mailing gil between accounts (again, as to not change things and give RMT back a easy way to give out gil) but between charas on the same account, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

there used to be or were instances where RMT players would have more then one character on the same account and would swap out more gils to sell in this method as well but who knows if they remain around this game anymore as well. Just Sayin!

Pretty much. They said at the time the restriction was b/c that they didn't want RMT to be using mogmail to give out gil after it was sold.(I was there) I don't know if there IS any rmt anymore since this game isn't so popular (I think most went to XIV) but on the other paw, I don't think the restriction on mailing gil between charas on the same account should be there to be honest.
Also they may of been sending it between their charas on a account, I didn't know that, but not being able to mail it to another account would still mess them up I think, since back before they added the restriction, that was how they used to do business. I think they do direct trade now? Mind I never paid too close attention b/c I hated RMT and never bought gil, but if you've played as long as I have, you can't not be aware of their presence.

idk about on your server, but check the price of awkward things sometime. Like a single Flint Stone, some obscure food, etc. For awhile on Bahamut, there were multiple sales by strange character names for 50+ million to other real character names. Although it seems that hasn't happened in a fair number of months, at least for Flint Stones.

On the same topic, can we eliminate a hell of a lot more restrictions on same account character transfers? I've been getting all these NM pop items and currency from the flotsam and log in points and I can't even get them off my mules. And honestly, if my mule wins a cat's eye in the bonanza, why shouldn't it be able to send it to my main character? I'm sure as hell not getting a mule captain rank to use it.

If you got a friend you trust, just use them to trade between your characters. It is a little annoying, but it is a way to get bazaarable stuff to your main.

I can think of no good reason why it should just allow all items to be deliverable to all characters on the same account regardless of what it is. I also can think of no good reason why any item that can be traded can't simply be sent to other players.

I've got a QoL suggestion:
Is there any way to make tabbing through targets after hitting "Switch Target", be based on proximity? It's pretty annoying when I want to switch to a different target but for some reason the game targets unaggroed monsters tens of yalms away while I'm getting beat on by monsters that I DO want dead.

Here's a great idea to make life easier for bards and anyone partying with bards:
When a bard starts singing a song, place a colored circle on the ground (so as not to confuse with geo spheres) covering the radius of that song.
The colors will correspond to the type of songs: Blue for mage songs, red for melee songs, green for support songs (minne mambo etc).
This will help people, especially with chat filters on, to get in or out of range of songs, no more melee running into ballads, and you can then freely filter casting.
A similar effect could be applied to any aoe buffs.

yes please. Sucks I can't send my forgotten items to my mules but need to clutter up my main's inventory to keep them... so silly. The only exceptions I can see making sense are things like anni rings etc where the idea isn't that one character can get 10 of them by using their mules etc...
I mean not that it would break the game, but anyway.

I've just given up and I pianissimo ballads most of the time. Sometimes if melee is far away I use tenuto and ballad 3 to hit all the mages and myself to keep my MP flowing (cause casting on myself is generally lowest priority)
It would be very cool to see this suggestion implemented cause I seriously find it tough at times to hit everyone with what they want and some events people just charge ahead like maniacs and spread out etc.

Few things I can think of that I'd like to see added to the game.
1) Ability to change race/look of your character. Hell my character is nearly 10 years old but is still stuck as a hume after all this time. Really wanted to change it to elvaan. Also would like to see new looks for the characters even if its only a limited array. Each race and sex basically has only 8 looks to choose from (technically 16 but problem is theyre basically nothing more than a slightly different haircolour in these cases) Would be nice to be able to change the look of a character after all this time.
2) New game engine. Doesnt have to be a immediate ARR renewal but would be nice to see an upgraded engine for this game. It still struggles to load characters in busy areas even on a top end computer which is more than 10yrs ahead of its original specs. Would be nice to see a more efficient engine that can use the existing resources for the game but handle as good as XIV's with the ability to add more character customisation or that. Probably overdue at this point as well since sooner or later the game might not work with newer os's or hardware V_V.
3) Those spells mobs have we never got for whatever reason: Theres quite a few remaining spells in the dats that have never been used ingame or rarely that would be nice to see added for players for their respective classes
Banish IV, V and Banishga III, IV, V for WHM.
Dia III + IV and Diaga II and III for WHM and RDM with Dia V and Diaga IV and V RDM exclusive
Theres also a few enfeebs never added like curse, virus, confuse, berserk as well :o
-aga enfeebs for RDM. Bio III and IV for BLM and RDM with Bio V rdm only. (adjust as necessary and change out Dia III and Bio III from RDM merits for something else like with what happened with SMN a while ago)
-aga elemental spells IV and V for BLM (obviously adjusted to be the same potency on a single target as their single tier counterparts.
Also the remaining Ni and san enfeebs added, (jubaku Ni and SAn, Dokumori Ni and San, Kurayami san, theres even a tonko san tho that could simply be added as an ultra long hide spell :D.
Also a reworking of the poison and poisonga spells as theres up to tier V of single and aga forms of it.

I said before and I'll say again. Make everything sellable at the auction house. Why on earth can you bazaar dyna currency but not just list it on the AH? Same goes with ground king pop items, sky gods pops, Al'Taieu pops, etc. All the adoulin content is sellable on AH (skirmish pieces, shards for popping delve NM's, etc, etc). It just makes no sense. I have savoury shanks on my mules but no way to get them to my main to use, unless I ask a LS mate for help transferring them.... WHY!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree with the aggravation of getting things on a mule (whether through flotsam or login points or whatever) and not being able to send it to my main on same account or put on AH.
Why can I send Rem's Tale chapters but not plutons/boulders/beitetsu?
Why are Drill Calamary ex?
I get these random things in the garden that I can't send, can't sell, don't know what the hell to do with it.

I rather have it where you can enter more then once per day specially if you forget to bring a form of re-raise and end up exiting unexpectedly, like make where can enter 2 or maybe 3 times per day would be considerably nice and the ability to call forth trust/alter ego npc's with inside Dynamis and Limbus/Tremendous/Apollyon would also be nice to use for solo inside them as well. well I suppose they could make it where you could enter another area of Dynamis but cant re-enter the same dynamis area you just entered in the same day.

Greetings,
Greetings,
After making it possible to enter seal battlefields with Trust alter egos in the June version update, we’ve determined a bug that removes buffs upon entry. As this is a bug that is closely tied to the system changes that allow alter egos to enter these battlefields, it will take a bit of time to fix.

I have an update on this to share.
The development team has been looking into implementing a feature that would reset the recast timers on all abilities when entering battlefields; however, various concerns about balance arose and they need additional time to look into this.
Additionally, the team has also looked into how buffs are removed when entering seal battlefields, but they’ve encountered some technical issues and will have to push this back.
I'll give you all an update once there is more progress on this!

How about just for once the 'team' put aside their fixation about 'balance', especially where frankly it isn't a serious problem, in order to fix a bug that is having a negative effect on the very people this mechanic was added for: people otherwise unable to complete content if they can't use their Trust NPCs?
When I read about Trust was elated, finally I thought a way for me to get my duo through Beyond Infinity after over a year hoping SE would follow through on their earlier comment about making it soloable like all other LBs.
But as it stands I have little chance, first because you restricted calling NPCs to the leader only and now because bugs mean they're likely to disappear on entry.
Why add content that's so clearly untested?

Is it possible to leave a battlefield after you've entered, then re-enter? Or are you locked out after you leave?
I assume the balance issues come up when people enter/exit a battlefield. What would happen if a THF was part of a Divine Might 2 Fight, and entered after everyone already engaged? Ally comes in, engages mob who 1hrs. THF steals the 1hr with larceny, exits battle, re-enters, and uses it again on another mob who 1hrs (since timers are reset on entry).
Could be even more nuts when you're talking about Wild Card.

I'm sure what calmate and they are stating is something to do with what i mentioned earlier here in my previous post about the changes they were looking into even with all the job abilities or magic reset upon entering verses time inside the battlefield but I also think that is only part of it or maybe even only half of it. Comfort for your long year/years of waiting into making this a reality but you, yourself has stated that you've waited this long and you can wait a lil longer even though you are letting your patience get the best of you until they have this clearly tested and the issues resolved. ;-0 ;-)
{(Well I'll just include my previous post here to make it easier to see the question I had for cellmate's previous posted news announcement before his current updated one he has posted now:)}

I'll assume you might be a Diablo 3 player as well, where this is an option included for that particular game and made you think about for this game to have one or if not, where about did this idea surface? I'm not saying that It couldnt help in some situtions for this game or that's it's not possible a great idea to have as setting options however.

If SE implements this change, BCs of all types possibly become zergs fights. At 8 minutes a fight* for a party of six, you'd spend 48 minutes doing BCs. Taking PLD(you might be able to exclude this for another DD), DD*3(SAM/MNK/WAR), BRD, COR, you'd likely be able to cut that number in half and, for me, that would be well worth excluding every other job for BC PUGs. Given how easy D BCs are, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go that way, too.
* I'm being generous here, I've seen less-prepared groups take up to 15 minutes on D.

With the addition of glowing gathering points to make it easier to notice, there have been requests to make “???” points glow as well.
The development team looked into making all these points glow; however, these points exist regardless of your quest progression status and other aspects, so there would be a lot of glowing objects scattered around that may or may not be relevant to players at the time.
Additionally, the team also looked into adding a feature that would allow you to turn the glow on and off, but system-wise this is not possible to do client-side and they realized there would be a tremendous amount of aspects to revamp if they were to individually select certain ones to glow. Due to this they are not planning to implement glowing “???” at this time.
...so what? Just make them glow anyways. You don't need to be able to turn them off.

They could avoid a lot of this regarding any invisible targets if they just added an official mini-map (not the compass) into the game's UI. Given that we can't move anything as players in the current UI, it could open in the left of the menu and be turned off if that's just not your cup of tea. We already know that data of where players, NPCs and monsters currently are (compass) is being sent to us, so it won't increase traffic. It would be a great alternative to see ??? just by walking in range on the mini-map and make also make it easier to know where you are without opening the map. Just another quality of life step from adding map positions.

I'm obviously not Camate but the time you would shave off from being able to Soul Voice and Wild Card every run would likely far exceed the time lost from having to recast inside the battlefield.
That wouldn't be entirely true for every job just to rely on two jobs to this and since I wasn't just discussing job ability recasts but magic recasting as well for buffs and besides they were stating all resets to be automatic and including erasing all magics upon entering to restart every time you enter instead of having more time from the start when you can do all the buffs outside of the battlefield before entering kinda like Aht Urhgans Assault Mission Battlefield entrances or it maybe a different area battlefield entrances i'm thinking of were you can do this all before hand then enter the fight or what ever takes place inside. Dont forget there also attempting to make it possible to fix this to do the battlefield with you and trusts or trusts and 2 players entering the battlefield where soul voice and wild card wouldnt fit into this type of play as of yet even if they did help in anyway with those 2 abilities.

I'm actually pretty against half the zone sparkling, do you know how many ???'s exist lol?
I mean, take a walk through Tavnazia Safehold, theres about 20 ???'s on the first floor alone.
It'd be nice if they could find a way to make it sparkle when you're on the quest though, would be helpful to new folks, but I imagine that would require reworking every single quest that involves a ???.

XI's game engine isn't made like XIV, where you can see some items and other players can't. XIV was made so that a quest could make items appear on your screen that everyone else doesn't see. XI shows the same thing to every player, so you can't have selectively sparkling NPCs based on a quest. An engine overhaul would have to be done, which would be like making a new game, and you'd need the people that understand all the code, like the original development team. Many of the original development team have moved on to other games or other companies.

I think it's just about time for server merges. Shouts here on Cerberus are getting more and more sparse. At peak Cerberus is about 600 people, far from its Hay Day. So are devs considering server merges anytime soon? Because it looks like the game needs it.

I've said it before, and I'll repeat it. Server merges need to be thought very carefully. Most servers don't need it, and would actually find them detrimental. It's possible that even the lower populated servers are still more than half of the population of the others, so even putting 2 lowest servers together would cause too much congestion.
Perhaps the best way would be to take the lowest server, and announce a closure, that brings with it a free world transfer service from it, to the other lower populated servers. Any characters that are not active during the closure period are automatically moved to one of the lower populated servers, with the option of a free transfer upon their next login.

Why do most, if not all conversation options with NPC's default to "No" instead of "Yes"? Why not default to yes instead so it's less button presses for us? If we are having the conversation with the npc, and are at the stage to choose an option, chances are we want yes... it's just one of those incredibly tedious things which would be improved by making a simple change.

Simply having the confirmation window should be enough.

Agree... everything seems to cater to the stupid people. Most of the responses from community team on here are basically cut and paste "we can't do X because what if person Y chooses it by mistake". FFS, when do people have to learn to stop and read before spamming the button?

So you want people to stop and read what the answer is, but you want it default to yes because you don't want to stop and select yes? It takes exactly as much time either way, but your way everyone's going to waste a ton of points on stuff they unintentionally said yes to.

Why are you talking to the NPC if you don't need to use the points? If you don't know what the NPC does, then you should be reading it. The wish for it to default to yes is because for most of these systems, we have to do it over, and over, and over... How many times will it take for someone to learn if they unintentionally (IE, spammed) used their points? Typically speaking, we have to click yes farrrr more often than no.

Yes, I want people to read the text... at least once, so they know what the NPC is offering. After that, they will know whether it's something they want or not.
I'll give you an example. I have 100k+ conquest points, and really nothing to spend them on, so I make liberal use of warp/reraise scrolls. Every time I go to purchase one from the gate guard, I have to navigate the text to get to the point where I want to purchase the scroll (for a lousy 10 points btw) but then it defaults to "no", so I have to move the cursor to "yes" and select it. With the lag in port jeuno, it's just extra frustration, and time, and a chance for ME to mess up, and choose no by accident, forcing me to do it again. I play the game and understand the NPC's and their offerings from reading the same text over and over since 2004. Why should SE cater to the new person who just wants 99 and elite gear nao?
This IS the quality of life thread isn't it? This change would improve the quality of the game for me, which is why I suggested it. Although at this point, I'm so used to mindlessly changing to yes, if they changed it, I'd probably be mindlessly be changing to no for several months before I got used to it lol.

It's not a tough concept to grasp. Port Jeuno is my preferred home point, thus, after using a warp scroll, I pick up a new one right away where I spawn. This task gets repeated between 1-10 times per play session depending on what I'm doing, and I'm simply stating it's annoying to have to navigate the menus the way they are now. The shadow reign retrace scroll vendor is even worse, but I use that one far less frequently.

Yet you can easily just use a HP crystal to go somewhere else that is less lag heavy and still pick up the warp scrolls. Though why you are needing 10 warp scrolls every time you log in is beyond me and you are probably making things harder on your self by being so dependant on them. I wouldn't mind it if some of the yes/no we're set to yes. Like the do you want to leave the staging point ones. Or the ones that actually do have a double confirm where the first one probably could default to yes.
Unfortunately SE has said no because of the people who tend to just spam the enter button. Though I kind of feel they're afraid that part of the game will just explode Michael Bay style if they allowed this and they just don't want us to know about it.

My only questions for you are What type of system you playing on that is causing so much lag to play the game of FFXI? What is your internet connection like, what the speed your getting from your service provider and what type of connection does the company your getting internet from provide?
I'll give you an example: Back when I played on ps2 with the system being outdated as it was while still playing FFXI on it would lag considerably a lot throughout the many years I've played with the game on my console and then the Hard drive just stopped working after a time and this was the 2nd time I had paid 100 bucks for the whole game ffxi pact simply because I couldn't find the Hard drive sold separately from the included all in one game pack and it was the only way you could get the hard drive at the time for that console and I probably bought the game four times not including the expansion pacts and add-ons. twice for ps2 thus $200.00, once for a desktop for 5 buck's limited time offer by Steam and pretty much stopped working after a few months then the ps2's 2nd Hard Drive went out and took probably a good 2 to 3 years break, maybe less after that happen while in the middle of playing ffxi both times. Now I returned back with a new alienware laptop system in 2013 and installed seekers all in one addition from SE shop site which was another repurchase of the game.
well getting way off topic but getting back to what we were discussing was that the lag your having trouble with while playing ffxi besides it adding to the additional frustration of being able to move the selection buttons easily without a fault among other things im sure your not mentioning your lag is causing troubles with while playing the game since this is part of the experience I used to have playing on a console system or a pc that was obviously wasn't working well enough to play ffxi on, Granted sometimes its the FFXI servers are at the faults for it to happen. When I switched to my laptop to come back to the game, must of been about jan/feb 2014 I noticed I didn't have the same problems of the lag like i did on ps2 and boy would it lag when I played on the console system that was unbearable.
I actually like the option no system put in place now but even I at times wanna make it to be layzier easy selectable by wishing it was set to yes, its just that when they used to have the system in place that was automatically yes once at the time, SE had gotten a ton of complaints thrown at em which is what recall for there reason to make full fail proof. Use Ru Lude Gardens Mog house as Home Point instead... Then you get 1 of your warp scrolls for free per day from artisan. And then it's free to warp to any other Home Point in Jeuno anyway!

/checkparam command
In the event we were to address every stat in the game for /checkparam it would churn out a very lengthy log message, so we will not be able to address every single one of them. However, the system was made so we could display more stats, so if there are some you feel particularly strong about, please let us know and we can look into adding them.
Not sure why replies are turned off in the posted thread, but wanted to re-echo the addition of a base +MAcc check. I'm aware you can't go into details through the command due to MAcc varrying on a per skill basis, as well as the Int/Mnd/Chr calculations. However, a base check would go a long ways to help understand..
A) How much +MAcc one needs to reliably enfeeble/nuke NMs, similar to how we're now able to say 950+ Acc and you're capped on x NM
B) The effects of Indi/Geo Focus and Indi/Geo Vex and how detrimental mobs -MAcc effects are
C) The exact effect +MAcc Skill found on ilvl weapons, as there's been debate if it sways between 1, 0.9, 0.8, etc, or if it is simply an additional form of +MAcc that is 1:1
Thanks~

there should be a little consideration onto the /names command.
For example:
A type of /names like command, which disables your character name, and no one else's character name.
Been playing 11 for years, I'm pretty sure I don't need a reminder of my own character name when in cut scenes and doing events. Generally speaking, I think having the name above your own character is a little bit unnecessary, and a simple command just to remove your own name would be a lot better.
I don't want to see my own name during cut scenes, and have to remember to /names off before a cut scene so that I can't see my name, then after watching said cut scene, need to /names on so that I can carry on playing. A nice command just to be able to hide your own name would make that just a little bit easier.

I kind of wish they'd make all the "yes" and "no" options the same in every single prompt in the game. If they want to set the default to "no" sometimes, that's fine. But don't make it where sometimes "yes" is on top, and "no" is on bottom, but reverse it in other places. This, to me, is a huge UI issue. It'd really be nice if I could know that ANY time I am responding to someone that the "yes" is always going to be in the same place.
One real quality of life issue is exiting NPC text. Some you can just cancel talking to. Others you need to listen to them blather on then end the conversation by choosing a menu item. If you accidentally hit the wrong menu option when spamming enter to get through the useless text, then you have to go through it all again. I'd like to be able to press the cancel button on all normal NPC conversations.

Hello, everyone!
I just wanted to stop in to share a bit of news about Bastion battles. We’d like to look into revamping this system a bit since there are occasions where if players are not defeating monsters it will take a long time for a Bastion battle to begin. While I don’t have a specific time period to share at the moment, we will be looking into this for the future.

I just wanted to stop in to say that I have never been a fan of swapping gears and even more so on several gears too. Where as i'd rather have one gear set that could handle the multitude of tasks that so many gears swapped out to in such a lil time by a majority of the player base now holds or going to be even more so after the september update.
I have never found this to be fun in that fact it also takes up even more space but rather wishing it was set this way to be allowed more concentration of the huge task or fight at hand with out adding in the side track of multitude upon several multiple gears to be swapped.
I'll admit this change in ffxi has dampened my spirit a bit of the wanting to play the game a lot of the times as well, along with those who cheat it to make it up to 37 or more gears swappable easier in a matter of seconds and when I heard about the gear swapping book set of macro's set only for gears coming in september, my original thought at the first second of hearing this was sheesh I think i'm quitting the game since its becoming an even more gear swapping type of game but then I was like well I'll see what its like if I can even handle it this way.
{Now I was wondering how many would rather keep it at a multiple gear swaps filling up a multitude of spaces or would you rather a gear set taking up less space for each job be created that could do the same as the multitude of tasks to which the multitude of swapping all of those does???}

What change? FFXI has ALWAYS been about swapping gear for JA/spells/WSs, except for in it's extremely early days when most gear had few if any stats. You mean the change that they're adding the ability for everyone to easily swap gear? If so then, and I usually don't tell people this, but you should prolly look for a different game.
Gear swapping is pretty much the only highlight as far as tackling battle content and maximizing your self that FFXI offers. Other games have rotations, tier gear, character builds, etc. FFXI is very gear intensive to reach a job's max potential. If the idea of swapping pieces is that bothersome, specially when SE hands you a simple system to do so, then this is not the game for you.
As for your question, I prefer it as it is for the most part. I wouldn't mind if certain aspects were curved a bit. Like, getting the on use boost from AF/relic to JAs is a given; if you have the piece and you can be bothered to swap, you will get the effect. In a way, for less used pieces, I wish you could convert it into a KI that always effected the JA so that it's one less swap/piece of gear you gotta bother with. Turn in your Pummeler's Lorica +1, get Pummerler's Essense KI: While your main job is Warrior, your Berserk duration is enhanced by 14 seconds. Things like that. Gear that must be continuously worn during the effect (like Pummerler's Mufflers) should remain as they are however.
Also, time of day based items, like Gessho's ammo piece, are rather annoying. It's a solid TP piece, when it's working. But with in-game macro ability, it's rather cumbersome to bother using.

Yes, I was referring to the extremely early days but I was also in linkshells that didn't grind me on that fact I was only wearing one set of armor weather it was artifact or a relic set for the one job I had at the time which I played for many years and they did not get upset about it but most I would change out was between 2 staffs, I also recall this to be around the level 75 cap days and being in sky linkshell's as well. If this game can't swap gears you'd just engage, click WS button every 1000 TP and pop JA every 3 min when it's up.
It's really not a lot to do compare with other MMO with more intensive JA rotation, running, dodging and jumping.
This game NEEDs gear swapping so we have more stuff to do during the battle, or else there's no point playing this game unless they revamp the battle system entirely.

Let me make it clear, as you seem more than capable of gleaning what you wish from a post, rather than what was said. "The extremely early days" referred to when you'd level up into gear without stats or with mostly stats that had very little if any barring on your performance. Get that new Banded Mail? Sweet, now you've got...a few more def. How about that Royal Footman's Vest with that amazing +5 ice resist? Things of that nature didn't matter. But even back during those times, having swaps for basic acc/att sets helped a lot. I remember it being quite clear in Dunes parties who bothered to have a +Acc/Dex swap and eat appropriate food (gogo Jack O'Lanterns/Mithakabobs!).
Just because you joined an LS that settled for your sub-par willingness to swap gear doesn't mean it made you good. It hampered your ability, and thus what you could be relied on to do. As more gear has come out over the years, it's added more and more that makes a character able to do more. You might not think much of say, a 445 HP Stoneskin, but when you barely survive with that up + a -DT set, that sets you apart. Same for someone who swaps into a set for just enough MAcc/stacking Mnd to get a good potency out of Slow or Paralyze, though those haven't aged well with the game. Doubly so for melees that know how/when to alter their gear for acc/att/-DT/haste and WS sets.
Since you felt the need to repeat some nonsensical statement that surely validated your point, I'll repeat: This doesn't sound like the game for you. There are literally dozens if not hundreds of other MMOs on the market where you can stick to one gear set and be set. This is not one of those games, and I doubt many if any who continue to play want it to turn into such. Just look at the ilvl adjustments for your proof, those adjustments alone were a major hit to the system.

Whaaat!! There is all ready plenty to keep your mind occupied on during the battle unless your using a tool like windower that sets most of the stuff you do during battle to automatic which is something I have been hearing a lot about on the game and in the forums here.
I will repeat something else I have said before too in a post just below yours. ;-)
This was also true back in the younger to slightly more older days of the ffxi game that the gears you had worn didn't make you out to seem like the greatest player like it does now or it wasn't so much about the gears that made the player great as it does now.
Compare with games like FFXIV or WoW or any action RPG, FFXI really have not much to do, even if you don't use windower. I own over 40 gear sets, and I don't use windower in XI. But I still play FFXI a lot better than XIV simply because I can't dodge/memorize boss moves. FFXI also has no PVP, unless you want to play absolutely perfect you can beat most of the content with avg reaction speed with no tools.
I honestly can't think of many MMO that requires less reaction speed and button click speed than FFXi tbh.
Also are you saying FFXI shouldn't have gear swap so players don't "stand out" because they have gears? Cuz that's exactly what MMO's about. MMO is about competition and standing out. If you design a MMO that doesn't let player stand out in some way then it probably won't sell well. Most MMO even has PVP and ranking and such.
Since FFXI already require less reaction speed than games like WoW, it's only logical to have more gears and let players stand out that way.
If you think that's seriously a big issue you can't tolerate, then maybe the entire genre of MMO isn't for you. Cuz I don't know any successful MMO with even less action element and competition element than FFXI.

FFXI also has no PVP
First off PVP, Lets break that down to its true meaning Player verse Player. Yes, FFXI has had an PVP in game for far to many years as far as I can remember which is called Brenner and Ballista for an example. Granted its been untouched and severally outdated, I still remember a time when folks used to come together and gather for such events in the areas of the time slot they were being provided at the time of the oldest days in ffxi.
I know there are still others here that have those grand old memories of old times past and think they might step up and reply to this with hey yeah I was one of those players of lost times gone by now. ;-)
Happy huntings!! :-)

Let me make it clear, This doesn't sound like the game for you. There are literally dozens if not hundreds of other MMOs on the market where you can stick to one gear set and be set.
I'm sorry i'm not gonna go into any other games and one MMO is enough and i'm not into playing multiple games myself so I will just stick with the one mmo game that I have stuck to playing for many years even if my social life still dwindles from it but yes I have read that one particular statement before you enter the game multiple times before playing the game which makes a clear statement about it! i'm sorry if this offends you in any way as well! Brenner/Ballista isn't "real" PVP. It doesn't satisfy player's desire to play better without a proper ranking/reward system nor official tournament.
Not to mention the job ability didn't balance based on Brenner/Ballista.

You can play this game without gear swapping. You just won't be as effective as the players that do. You won't be helpless either, as long as your set is good. If you're okay with that, good.
I don't do much gear swapping myself. I could never really garner enough interest to figure it out. I have a Chakra set that I'm pretty proud of, but oddly that's like the one thing most Monks don't care enough to gear swap for. I also have a Cursna set for my WHM. But I get by. I seem to accomplish the goals I set out to accomplish, and I have fun.

(I'll move this to a sep thread if ppl think it'll be noticed better)
There exists since CoP a solo ENM that (rare drop) drops a special piece of R/EX gear for every job until ToAU. It's called Pulling The Strings, 60 cap.
...Unfortunately it has been long forgotten. I'd like to see Dancer, SCH, GEO, and RUN added to it, it's just a itchy thing that I can't beat it on GEO just to say I did! I used it to practice cure timing on whm back in the day (WHM was the first job I beat Maat with, I did it the Maat Mashee method, Repose didn't exist back then) and it's a crying shame it's been forgotten so darn long.

With the solo ENM, prolly not, it was designed to be soloed before trusts existed (I can find my vids of Pulling the Strings if you're curious for whm, blm, smn, and thf) but the other ENM in the area, prolly.
Also btw, as for another suggestion; I'd like to see the controller support updated for the PC version of this game a tad if that's at all possible. For years, people have been complaining about the triggers on Xbox 360 controllers not working without some serious monkey business/using unofficial drivers. And now..There's a homebrew wrapper for the Dual Shock 3 that uses the Xbox 360 drivers..that works beautifully except for one slight problem. The L2/R2 buttons are not recognized in FFXI because it is xinput, not directinput like FFXI likes, which means one has to use xpadder to yoink them back. (I assume that's the root of the Xbox 360 trigger problems too). Could that be fixed, please?

I too would like better controller support. I found out that x360wc drivers for the Wireless xbox 360 receiver can work well for configuring FFXI, but those break how the controller works in other programs, such as Awesomenauts and Steam Big Picture mode. So if we could get xinput support that would be fantastic.

Are there any plans on making mythic building while solo any easier? I appreciate the solo entry for assaults and nyzul, but an area of frustration is Einherjar. Are there plans on allowing Einherjar to be accessed solo? Also, would there be a way to have players buy one key item (similar to the prismatic hourglass) so as to not keep spending 60,000 gil per entry?
Hopefully this will be seen. I appreciate the more-solo-friendly direction the game is going, since it let's me work on goals that have been on my radar for years without having to recruit extra bodies for minimum entry requirements.

All right I'll go ahead and make the suggestion, we should be allowed to equip stuff from not only our item & wardrobe storage but our mog satchel, sack, and case. I understand if it can't be done without having it equip from the storage and safe but at least try to since you guys have to push back increasing the macros for it. And maybe increase the regular macros if you would.

My request is petty, and likely echoed, but just to rile s'more noise: Character creation re-customization. Race I might expect to be permanent, and it seems in-game marriage still factors in sex, but I don't immediately see how changing any other feature would impact gameplay.
It's been a sour taste in my mouth since I created my namesake character that I chose a medium height, but didn't realize until afterward that these approximations are based more on Japanese averages, and that what I was looking for was "tall".
So, charge for it or what have you, but allow means to change characters' features. Taking sex as one such, change in-game marriage to be independent of character features.

We need the minimum for einherjar's entry removed as its near impossible to get 5 ppl for t1 and t2 feathers which essentially locks you out of the title. Failing that make all chambers give the same ichor so there is no hesitation to join any t1-3 shout. Really no point in having ichor discrepancies when all chambers are soloable, the original point of the higher reward is lost.

Well don't get me wrong that SE has added several more storage mog type of devices to which I really love them but kind of disappointed they never have done a personal inventory where its like a 2nd page inventory on your main character that you could slide over to and it slides like the map markers do too. I think it would be cool if it was there while your full but all the additional items falling past that point would fall right to the 2nd page main inventory of your character. Just a thought I had wanted to share and see what befalls from it via posting it here.
I still wish I could remember how you add npc's and stuff like that to the green map markers and swear someone showed me how to do it once via commands but forgotten how to for those peculiar color of markers and yet I wonder if they'll ever add more colored map markers to their map system as well. I also run out of space when labeling, naming stuff with those map markers for remembrance. Anyone knows, plz post a response here!?

I agree that something should be done about the 5th floor frog, if they can't change the pop conditions, then possibly add the drops to the poroggo madame on the other side. As for the 6th floor frog, you can still pop that no problem, just go up the other side with the frog where you only have to unlock 1 person.

also shorten the recast time on summoning your wyvern for Dragoon, every other pet job can summon their pet instantly, if drg dies they have to wait 20 minutes, the timer needs to be shortened.
Um I agree the wyvern recast needs to be shortened but only summoner can "summon pet instantly."
I've had plenty of times in content like (say) walk of echoes where my pet gets caught in a insta KO AOE right after I summon it and I basically sit there for almost 3 minutes wishing I could do something.
I really do think what this game needs more than anything is just a face-lift for its battle interface that clearly identifies different enhancements and enfeebles as they exists on party members and other targets. That would improve my quality of life on this game more than anything else would. Because constantly having to watch the chat log and scroll up through battle spam to identify different ailments and effects as they occur is a huge pain. As is trying to figure out the magical combination of filters that helps the most in this regard.

That would be nice I agree. The magian trial selections can be tedious as well.
I suspect it has to do with the engine the game uses or something and can only process so many choices at once. That's the only logical reason I can come up with as to why they make the selection processes on this game so convoluted.

I'm not sure how often this is brought up, and if a response has been given on this within the last couple months, but what about lowering Einherjar's 6-man limit? Even 3-man would make it easier for everyone, if 1-man isn't doable.
There hasn't been anything about this in the last couple of months, but in the past they have said it's not going to happen.

It probably has been mentioned a few times before, but it would be really nice if the devs removed the Rare attribute from Gob Stews 880 and made them stackable.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! (Is that even a saying?)
It’s been some time since I stopped in here last, but I’m happy to see that the suggestions are still flowing.
Naturally, we’ve been keeping an eye on them and passing them off to the proper people. :)
The real reason why I’m here is to give you a bit of information on some things mog-related.
There have been a couple of requests to make it possible to decorate your Mog Garden with furnishings, but unfortunately due to the way the area and system was built this would be difficult to accomplish. The team would like to reserve this for Mog Houses.
Which brings me to my next point – Mog Houses! There is currently planning going on to expand Mog Houses in some way… I know this is vague, but I’m sure there will be more details soon! Additionally, the development team is in the midst of preparing an emote where you could pull up a chair and sit down.
You’d of course be able to use this in areas other than your Mog House as well!
Finally, in the December version update we are planning to add new elements to monster rearing which you can enjoy once you’ve unlocked level 2.
Stay tuned for more information on all of these goodies. :)

So you literally pull out a chair and sit or did they intend the emote to sit on already existing chairs? Seems kinda odd if you pull out a magical folding chair to sit on anywhere lol. Then again we carry over 300 items on us and heavy weapons and such so I guess its possible lol. Also, nobody cares about Monster Rearing, we want Monstrosity :(

Yay! One of the things I've been waiting for is either more wall space or some type of furniture that would allow us to hang more stuff. I have a few things (like my adventurer certificate) I can't have up because my walls are full with all the nation flags, and I'm not taking those down. =P

If you do add /chair then make sure if we use it while targeting another player we can bash them in the head with it.

I sure hope this includes a way to have furnishings in the mog house without it taking inventory in our safe. This is the sole reason I havent decorated my mog house. ever. Although I dunno if that would be doable since storage is currently tied to furnishings we have, with all the spaghetti code in the game.

Camate, can you guys consider QoL updates to repeating AF1 questlines? For example, allowing someone to wipe the quest memory via NPC after only dropping one piece. Not having to complete the entire set to drop and repeat in order to reclaim the boots or gloves, etc.
Before the level 99 af1 upgrades were introduced, I dropped a lot of half sets of af1 for bag space. Now I'm in the situation where I have to complete af1 sets twice, it's a real hassle. Namely I dropped BST af1 boots a while back, and it was the only piece of af1 I had, so now I have to complete the last 4 pieces, only to drop them, so I can do it all over again. I paged a GM to see if recovery was an option but they said there is a time limit on such things.
Also, can anyone confirm/deny that upgrading a piece of armor to 99 counts as dropping it for the purposes of repeating af1 quests via the memory wipe NPC?
you don't have to drop it to repeat.

Thank you for the info, I didn't know. It worked as you said.
On the off chance Camate or another community rep is still reading this thread. I was wondering if there was a way to fix how the mobs stack when you pull large groups. Often they'll either run behind you (due to latency I'm guessing) or constantly dance around making it irritating to hit/ws them as melee. I'm not sure how you can fix this, but it's something that has bothered me for a long time.

It's just their pathing mechanics. Those same mechanics can be used to fix the issue. If you pull multiple mobs, when you're ready to fight them, position yourself against a wall on your right side as you're facing the mobs. Now slowly back up while engaged, without moving away from the wall. If the wall is large/solid enough, the mobs will stack neatly in front of you. If it's too small of a surface, they will spill out from it and surround you otherwise.

I Hope this expansion to mog houses means we get to see our mog house furnishing even more now to be included inside of rent-rooms Finally in all of cities and areas wherever we are residing in true to fact it can be a very long time or even rarer occasions we return to the only one home city where our furnishings reside to see them again with all the new expanded expansion areas we now have available to enter or at least make it an optionable choice with the MH npc's that reside outside of the rent-rooms and those MH npc's in front of the rent-a-room's have pretty much become obsolete npc's. lol! ;-)
Speaking of sitting in chairs or sitting in benches/boths that could be already be in game, I sure they give a targetable option to them to actually be able to sit in them and not just be there for graphical looks, I hope!

First off, I Love how they have invented and done the unity chat feature which is kind of like a huge group linkshell group without the idea of an need to use an item that sits in your inventory or any other storage spaces. i hope with the newer linkshell type noc's being added there will be a way in the future to do the same for linkshell groups, ~hopefully~
I'm not totally sure how they could change the all ready existing ones to not take up space and opening up more room again yet but maybe they could do something like they've done in the past for the old delkfutt's door key in the inventory changed into a slot in the permanent key items but obviously if this where done in this way it would have to be on a newly created temp items 2 button possibly, maybe added with options for the linkshelled KI when you click on the temp item named linkshell to turn it on or off but still some how have it a leader optioned controlled group upon who created it, named it, handed it to i would guess the new linkshell npc's and also assume the graphical chosen color LS beside the name would also stay in the game if were done in this way.
I also wanted to say that along with those turn on or off options, you also have the option to turn on or off more then one ls at a time including being able to chat on all of the LS's you have at the same time. Well now that I mentioned having a permanent or temp key items 2 button, I think for the linkshell it probably be more logical to have a linkshell KI's button instead but seriously the temp items list and permanent items list is getting extremely long, maybe its time to be breaking it down into two categories new buttons with perm items 2 & temp key items 2 to make it faster again to get through the list and easier to look up certain KI's again perhaps. Hmm I know some players would appreciate this if it where done and i'm leaving it to everyone who wants to come up with more ideas for this to post on it here after this idea has been brought forth.
