I'm not upset. you are reading way too far into it.I will absolutely wave the idea that people are getting "resentful" over someone earning extra points. The whole point of this mechanic in this content is to ensure and reward active participation.

I'm not here to "butt heads." I'm sorry you don't like my posts but you don't get to "hand wave" them away as "useless" either.

Anyone feeling resentment over this mechanic is aboslutely taking it way too seriously. I cannot support someone suggesting that everyone recieve maximum reward for minimum effort. If the content is such drudgery, so unfun and so otherwise useless that you only care about the points and you're terribly inconvenienced by taking any extra time to cap out your points and resent people getting bonuses, there are much bigger problems to look at. May as well just give people the points for logging in and remove the battles.

I said that there is no reason why EVERYONE can't just do one dragon and be done instead of 2 people max, This desire seems mutually exclusive with the maximum reward minimum effort thing. But I'm open to being told how I'm misunderstanding this. But it seems to me that if everyone can just do 1 dragon and be done (where currently, some people can and some people can't), then people can participate/contribute less while still being fully rewarded. And in general terms, I don't like seeing content trivialized by the elimination of needed effort to receive rewards. It's for the same reasons I generally oppose the rather common suggestion for content that wasn't designed for alliances to have the playercount limit set to 18 without making any other changes. Alliance content should be designed to need alliances, otherwise it doesn't need to be alliance content.

As far as people being selfish- okay? Why do you feel bad about not liking people being selfish? That's a completely normal response. But it still doesn't justify the change you propose. Maybe consider attacking this problem from another angle and offer more bonus opportunities on an individual basis such that they can't be "hogged."

You come in here and flame people with your passive-aggressive attitudeI'm neither flaming anyone nor being passive aggressive. How exactly did I flame you, and where exactly did you feel I was passive-aggressive? Truly honest question.

But it seems like you need to practice what you preach-

Burn in hell. Extremely inappropriate and disproportionate response. Who's flaming who now?

I'm truly sorry that I upset you, but this is not the way to respond to such situations.

Please make Domain invasions give 100 points regardless of attendance level or bonuses. I'm sick and tired of resenting people for being greedy and grabbing both bonuses whether they are ignorant of what they have done or not. The game should not be fostering resentment towards other people and I really don't see the point in making people wait another 10 minutes to cap off their points for the day. This does not mean I want the brew effect removed though, that is important for people on low population servers who may not be quite strong enough to solo the dragon otherwise.

Take the extra 15 minutes it takes to do a second run, or get some LSmates to go with you so you get the group size bonus. It's not that serious.

I'm my opinion waiting another 15 minutes just to get the 20 points you're missing is not meaningful gameplay, it's just a time sink at that point.

I mean we could argue the whole content isn't meaningful gameplay, but as long as the content exists, giving everyone the bonus (aside from it not being a bonus anymore) disincentivizes people from participating to their fullest since they will get fully rewarded regardless. And the last thing a content where -- in some cases, tons of people can be there and make it lag badly -- needs, is people present and not doing much to contribute to its completion.

I'll be honest, I've been ignoring DI for quite some time, unless someone calls for help with mieru or something. It's hard for me to understand why someone would care about this so passionately as to be jaded about someone hogging the bonus. Glad I'm not alone here. (And no, I've never done that)

You don't even have to max out your points every day. Why is this that big a deal?

Well yeah, some people enjoy them. But I'd argue if you're mad that you missed out on 20 points and you need to do another DI, that you aren't there because you enjoy the content. If you enjoyed doing it, I don't think someone would be bothered by needing to do another one.

When I fairly fresh 99 many years ago when DI was still new and hot, I'd use it for making gil and get Escha gear/weapons since I wasn't capable of getting it myself or find people to help me. Nowadays, I don't bother at all unless like it was stated, if Mireu pops.

In a way, guess I felt that. Still doing DI whenever back from return home campaigns. Even Bahamut server did lose bonuses few years ago, but since ppl still spamming it, mostly bead farms for aeonics.

Also, recommended to just put a certain person in ignore list, so you don't get distracted. These 2 pages long debates felt wholly unnecessary, & this is for QoL suggestions, & so far from what I read, the debates doesn't even accounts for new players or those only plays during return home campaigns, hence their stance of ignorance due to their already higher-geared mainly from being more subbed.

Hey all! I've been back on and off for a little bit and am just now really getting into sortie. My feedback has to do with Prime Weapons. I'm a little disappointed that there are Prime Weapons that are either super niche or seemingly useless.

I am an Idris GEO, and the Lorg Mor honestly doesn't seem worth being more than a sleep counter at the early stages. I know that through each iteration of ultimate weapons, some are inevitably duds. I hope that, unless you are planning for more ultimate weapons in the future, that these would be really worth it for every job. If you are planning to release more ultimate weapons in the future, at this point in the game's life, can you ensure that all of them are worth the grind?

The prime weapons are more focused on being weapons. You'll notice they share appearances with the relic weapons, and somewhat similar design goals. Inevitably not every weapon is going to be the most perfect thing for every job, same as the relic weapons. But they will still have their place when you need a weapon to be a weapon.

They aren't all meant to be worth the grind to everyone, they're meant to be sought by specific people with specific desires. You don't have to get a prime weapon if all you play is GEO, you arleady grinded idris. Prime weapons are just another alternative grinded weapon like the REMAs etc.

There will inevitably be someone who gets one just for the sake of getting one but there is plenty of other stuff you can grind- Not every item has to be useful to everybody.

Three Suggestions:

1) Buying Limbus Matters with units (20k Units)

2) Make 14th day login bonus earlier, logging in 14/18 days and getting 38% of the points is disgusting.

3) Revitalize Ninja REM, currently almost useless, give them a unique shuriken ammo BIS for things like RNG/COR Ammo

They should at least excel at something.
Mjollnir: best uncap'd attack DPS
Gambanteinn: Cursna & very good DPS
Yagrush: AoE -na spells
Idris: bubble potency & survivability
WHM SU5: misery WHM & arise recast.
GEO SU5: what's going on? uh, have some refresh. (complete waste of an SU5)
Tishtrya: Best GEO DPS, too bad the base DMG is so low.
Lorg Mor: ...I have Mjollnir base DMG but my aftermath is cure potency & MDMG+ so I'm useless. Have Regen for the LULs.

GEO SU5 should have had indi duration+300 or something in path C instead.
Lorg Mor should have been a physical DD club to replace all the others with PDL aftermath. and that regen+ should have been regen potency+ & pet: regen+ instead.

No idea if if this even gets ready or will even be acknowledged, but wanted to give it a try.

Suggestion: Please make Evanessence purchasable in bulk from Aht Urhgan Sanction NPC's. They already stack to 99 (which is great), however, purchasing them one at a time is time-consuming to say the least.

Please allow a charge system on Odyssey and Sortie similar to omen where you can build up runs if you miss a day and do several in one go. Also an alliance version of these events to bring back linkshell events beyond Dynamis D. Also now beseiged and limbus have been updated please look at Campaign and update some of that to 119 content and give some new rewards so its more than a chore to do for a silver voucher each month.

Stop closing servers then doing nothing to incentivize people moving off them. Its completely pointless and now new players cant go on a populated server.. Do free transfers off of those servers and some kind of reward for doing so..like free venus orbs or something...

Exemplar point loss should be disabled in level-capped content where master levels aren't in play. Especially when the level cap is such that you can't even benefit from raise 2/3.

If you aren't benefitting from having grinded the points, they shouldn't be lost in the content- or, at least, you should lose points as if you were at the capped level, not the actual level.

If the purpose of proto waypoints is to reward advanced players with unique shortcuts that reduce the need for travel, then the proto waypoint teleport to Castle Oztroja is currently wasted. Its destination point is just a few steps from the survival guide, near the entrance of the castle. Please consider moving the destination point and the corresponding geomagnetic fount to a deeper and more useful location within the castle. A point just behind the four-switch door would be great.

Can you improve cosmetics from login campaigns? Compared to other MMO, XI's weakness is customization. You either look like a ninja, samurai, white Mage, paladin, or something in-between.

XI takes itself too seriously with the FF motif. Lighten up a bit & have some fun, releasing non-XI lore items perhaps? The Denim pants were a great starting point. Maybe some camo army pants, bell bottoms, top hat, a cape? Guitar as a weapon skin? You get the gist of it.....
(Someone can probably make a glamour from that random list....)

Only if they do this very carefully and sparsely.
I'm personally very happy that they take their visual design seriously. It's very easy for a game to completely lose itself and entirely ruin the game's aesthetic/design rules by adding too many cosmetics.
I admit that my character looks fairly goofy with the mandragora masque on at all times, but I feel that FF11 allows itself some fun while being very grounded in its visual presentation, which is great. The Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy 14 cosmetics are fine too, in my opinion, they're not too invasive and very few people choose to use them anyway.

I played Final Fantasy 14 since Legacy until 5.0, and slowly watched it cave in on itself over the years. After playing the second half of Dawntrail's story, I just had to call it quits and haven't touched it since. The whiplash I got after the first half of it (which I adored) was enough to send me packing, lol.
Just feels like eventually it became a crossovers-first cyberpunk-themed MMO, among the other gameplay-related things I personally take issues with. Now, I know that's a me-problem and I appreciate that. A lot of people still love the game and even more so now that it looks and plays the way it does. I'd just really hate for that to happen to FF11.

But:

The whiplash I got after the first half of it (which I adored) was enough to send me packing, lol.lol it hasn't "caved in on itself." it's doing fine. Sure, the DT story may be weak, but the whole situation has been vastly overblown, and the next expansion specifically aims to address a lot of popular issues. And I find it petty to quit over the story when that's just one part of a much larger whole. DT added some great content to the game (like the XI raid, the new deep dungeon which I find the best since HoH), with Beastmaster still on the way as well.

That said, it's rather ironic that you specify disliking the post launch segments more, for most people I've talked to it's been the opposite. But on the plus side, the grumbling over DT seems to have worked to FFXI's benefit. lol

XI has impacted my life over a span of decades and I always keep coming back to it. But I enjoy both games in their own ways. Though I principally enjoy it for its PvP which I just can't get here- And it's not becuase I don't like it but because there's no incentive for anyone else to join me in playing it.

That's true, I even contradicted myself by saying people still love the game :D
Emotional response took over and I didn't think as critically as I should have.

And I find it petty to quit over the story when that's just one part of a much larger whole.
Yeah, it was mostly the gameplay changes over the years that did it for me and not Dawntrail specifically.
I think it did a lot of good things too, in fact I don't agree with a lot of the criticism it got. But the shift in visual presentation and overall themes didn't really help what I was already frustrated with, chiefly the combat changes and amount of crossover content.
So again it's honestly just a me problem, and still very petty of me too, haha. The game just became something I didn't really enjoy anymore so I don't blame people for still enjoying it. If something isn't fun to me anymore I just don't play it. I wouldn't hesitate to do the same if FF11 wasn't fun.

Cool to hear the new Deep Dungeon was good though, that was one of my favourite things alongside the Field Operations like Eureka and Bozja.

I am sorry if I was rude or caused upset. Its nothing really I just feel like people tend to exaggerate when they're flustered. Obviously Dawntrail isn't winning any best expansion awards, but sometimes it seems like people get too fixated on the problems to acknowledge the things that went well. Admittedly I do sometimes end up white knighting Wuk Lamat because while I'd agree with everyone she stole the spotlight from the main character way too much, there were also some really wrong things that happened, like people hating on the voice actor and such that really was just wrong. Hyperbole is basically my pet peeve. :p

I love deep dungeon as the best solo content in the game, and its quite reminiscent of Nyzul Isle. I have solo clears on HoH and the newest one.

crossover content. I feel you on that, though I don't mind crossovers if they make some sort of sense. Like crossing with FFXI makes lots of sense especially when you consider that in the very early days of development there were talks of linking the games together directly (i.e. you could warp to the other world from your mog house and it would switch to the other game- It's one of the reasons the initial XIV races were designed to be similar to FFXI's.)

Seekers event is upcoming; the next seasonal event is Halloween iirc. Always felt players should get Vampyr and Werewolf powers/transformation during the event.

Basically, a drink, potion, etc from a quest that temporarily transforms the player into a werewolf or vampyr. Meaning, they can be used in regular content. It may be broken, but I don't see it as a big deal, since this is a a seasonal affair.

I would sure like to stop having abilities in chat show up AFTER I get hit by them :\ too many of Lilith's abiltiies feel samey in how they start animation-wise and so when I realize she's doing charm ability I already got hit and that sucks.

Honestly, shouldn't lose Trusts when you get charmed, they should just do nothing until you are free. It's stupid you lose them and even dumber cause of the issue above. If the game wasn't bad with the chat failing to show stuff in a timely manner, would be more reasonable, but it's not.

Edit: also, I request Fomor NM in Sortie to not link with other fomors and vice versa lol. The other NMs don't link.

And why the fuck are undead besieged so bullshit in their abilities compared to the others? Doom, instant death stuff, massive nukes, etc... it's really ridiculous.

Only if they do this very carefully and sparsely.
Honestly they really played it well with the Wizardry collab. XI's content fits extremely naturally into the Wizardry universe, upon which Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest both drew substantial inspiration from.

I really wish they could have done more in XI than just give everyone a vanity item from the game (my idea would be to temporarily insert Wizardry enemies into Nyzul Isle or something, which is the closest thing FFXI has to Wizardry's dungeon crawler design). But this was otherwise a very tasteful, plausible, and relevant collab, unlike FFXIV giving us emotes of playing with cell phones and instant cameras.

Currently, even fully upgraded Limbus chests have only a chance of dropping alabaster or murky matter. Obtaining matters to upgrade gear is the primary goal of completing climbs. To walk out empty handed after one hour spent on a clear is demoralizing.

Was thinking about questing in this game lately, and had some thoughts.

I understand both why people would like quest icons, and especially those who don't. I'm in the latter crowd, I think the game is much better as a direct result of not having quest markers and icons above most NPCs. It's one of the most immersive Final Fantasy games I've ever played.

If quest markers somehow were added, for whatever reason, I'd like it to be an opt-in thing. A config option that's off by default. I don't care if other people want to use them, that's their business and if it helps them enjoy the game, I'm happy. But not if they're enforced!

On that topic, the game can be a bit too cryptic at times. I'd like to propose a different approach. I'm an avid RuneScape player, another MMORPG without quest markers. However it does offer quest assistance, but it's hidden in the quest journal. It tells you where to start quests, what the pre-requirements are, and more.

I use it often to find quest starting points, and it only reveals as much as you like about solving each quest. The items you require for a quest, and combat encounters (if any), are hidden behind a spoiler tag.
The quest journal also helps you keep track of what's happened in a quest, and a hint of where to go next. This is really great if you take a break from the game, and come back later wondering what you were up to.

Have a look. Some of the newer quest log entries are a bit more hand-holdy than others, as seen here.
But I still think it's a great system. If you're paying attention to the dialogue you can complete the quests without ever opening the journal anyway.
You also need to know (or learn) your way around the world to understand this.

https://i.ibb.co/dsnmbyM0/bilde.png

I think a system inspired by this could potentially fit really well in FF11. It helps the game stay immersive by not cluttering your HUD with active quests, and not putting big icons over NPCs.

Just some quick thoughts, curious what others think.

In the case of Old Case +2 Campaign, all basement bosses and/or Aminon would have a low percentage chance to drop an Old Case +2. I’m talking Peach Power drop rates, not Shinryu drop rates.

Feel free to add one of them as an community reward for the next Vana’Bout.

This new gear from the Adoulin NM’s has some useful pieces if you don’t have capped Limbus or Odyssey Armor. I hear SE is planning on implementing Augments for this gear as well. What a perfect way to expand the Divergence Content, these two zones can be the stepping stones to augmenting the new gear.

This would allow for Dreamworld Dynamis Divergence or “D.D.D.” To offer even stronger ambuscade armor, +3 or something along those lines.

I understand both why people would like quest icons, and especially those who don't. I'm in the latter crowd, I think the game is much better as a direct result of not having quest markers and icons above most NPCs. It's one of the most immersive Final Fantasy games I've ever played. For the most part, I agree, but for the sake of helping newer players, I think the earlier quests and missions could do with a little extra guidance, and then gently strip that away over a period. There are some quests and missions in the game as well that are a little too cryptic for the average person- I'm not saying put exclamation points over NPC's heads or anything but there are certain points where i think the game could be giving better clues (or clues at all- the first several chapters of TVR still have nothing linking them together at all- impossible to know where to go next after a finishing a chapter without a guide, because the only clues were given in official website news posts, not in-game.)

the TLDR is, I think they should try to reduce the amount of "Guide Dang it (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GuideDangIt)" trope use- Give the player just enough hints that it's reasonable to figure the game out without having to keep one of the wikis open 24 7. Not hand holding, just.... better hints.

Yeah! This is the way to go.

I also thought it was kinda odd they didn't at least modify the TVR quests as they went on to link them together better. You really do just have to look at the update pages every few missions because of how they were introduced over time.

You really do just have to look at the update pages every few missions because of how they were introduced over time. Yes, there is literally absolutely nothing in-game either in the missions themselves or hints from other NPCs or anything of the sort whatsoever to tell people where the next chapter begins after finishing a chapter. This is mainly an issue in the earlier chapters where each one takes place in a completely different city/area. I remember doing the digging and finding that other than the wiki, the ONLY place this was mentioned in any official capacity was in news posts on the FFXI website.
