I think they said they were going to be adding in the Avian category to monstrosity. If that the case, what are the odds that at some point Chocobos could be added to the avian species list?
They're already doing somthing with DQ slimes in December and some kind if fuzzy rabit thing. After that it kinda seems possible at some point.

They won't be because as far as I'm aware there are no chocobo enemies in the game and I don't think they have any intention of making chocobos involved in combat situations in this game. The smile slime, while not originally part of this game, IS a monster and makes sense that if they are going to put it in this game, that it be something you can play as and not just a hat or a shield. Chocobos also currently lack any animations for things like taking hits or attacking.
Heck they even bent over backwards to make sure players couldn't attack you on chocobos by having the chocobo NPCs refuse to rent you a chocobo if you have the gladiatorial writ of summons (Even in the Altepa desert, where it's not possible to take a chocobo anywhere that Belligerency can take place)
(By the way according to the description of the spriggan minion in FFXIV, spriggans are not in any way related to rabbits even though they highly resemble them)

I think someone suggested this at one point but they said they have no plans to ever make chocobo's enemies or fighters.
