This looks to be a fantastic update! SOO many different things that I've personally been hoping for.
Adjustments to the number of players required to enter Salvage/Meeble Burrows/Assault
I'm very excited at the chance to be able to work towards getting my Captain rank, without needing to beg for people to fill the entry requirement. Also, easing Salvage entry opens the door for more Alex farming, which I'm sure will make many other people happy as well.
Add system that allows you to move between home points
I will never complain about more options for getting from point A to point B, thank you.
Increase player movement speed
This is music to my ears! "Running" at what usually felt like a snail's pace was rather bothersome at times. I'm really glad to see this!
Make changes so that all jobs can use Wide Scan
I can't count the number of times I've wished for this over the years!
Enable trading of other seals for Sacred Kindred’s crests
Thank you!
It's been quite some time since I've been so excited about FF11!

Sorry for the language...... but having those 25SKCs with 50 crap seals in the new freebie thing..... made me really worried that the trade table wasn't gonna happen in the DEC update... TTUTT
They did mention adding that “quite some time ago”. I guess it could have just not happened just as well. xd
But yeah, there's quite a bunch of neat stuff here, even the first(?) mention of the Eminence Records here, which was mentioned at least a month ago (if memory serves me right) on the Japanese side.
I'm not sure how much of this will actually affect me. Voidwatch thingy, maybe, and the movement speed increase, definitely. For that I likely lost all hope for æons ago; I seriously did not see that happening, but hey, I guess everything is possible. ^^;
However, all the nice things nowadays do make me think a lot about too little too late...

Holy frijoles. November's version update was outstanding, and now we're getting ANOTHER outstanding update a month later?
Monstrosity's already getting birds; solo salvage/assault; movement speed increase (!); FFXIV and Dragon Quest tie-ins with cutscenes (!); warping between home points (!); battling with famous NPCs (!); wide scan for everyone (!). Six things that are majorly exciting to me, and 5 of those were completely unexpected and unannounced. And then all kinds of other goodies. If only FFXIV could get some good updates (the game's been out since August and not one significant update; FFXI's had like 3 since then). I barely touch it anymore with all the awesome stuff going on in XI.
Dragoy, "too little too late" suggests that there's too little, but it feels like all of our wildest FFXI dreams are coming true. I'm not even kidding; I think I'd be stupid not to expect Cait Sith and Atomos within the next 6 months at this rate (at this point, they may even whip those guys out in January).

It was the random 25 SKCs (when all other seals are 50x) in the latest freebie thing that made me a little worried that it wasn't gonna happen in the DEC update...
PLUS not having the trade table update in the same update where you add MORE SKC BCNMs to upgrade from 109==>119..... the reason why it didn't happen in the 109AF update is because "didn't want everyone doing the BCNMs".... that same logic could apply to the 119 BCNMs... so... uncertainty.

Good:
1. Adding items to let pet jobs have lvl 119 pets
2. SKC trading option (which should have been day 1 when implemented...)
3. Widescan (however limited range we get)
4. Movement speed change
Bad:
Again no mention of Cait Sith or Atomos summon status

Also adding Slimes from DQ and a Bunny thing from FFXIV to Monstrosity in the update apparently! And hopefully the Bird thing was just an error, and its supposed to be all 3, because, Slimes will be Amorphs I am sure, and if we get Birds, but not Amorphs except 1 race, that will be a bit weird, so maybe we can get all 3 this update after all! :D
Meh, interesting changes, I guess. As far as I am concerned the best years of any MMORPG is it's older years rather than it's prime years. This is an example of that belief, as developers tend to make changes they normally wouldn't as I guess a way to reward the customers that stuck around rather than leave. There's been a lot of examples really over the past few years for FFXI. It's just a shame it's been tainted by other things done. There's a reason why I chose to play other games, and I hate it.

I admit i'm pretty excited too, hope Zeid is one of the NPC's in the trust system. Also hoping for Ferreous Coffin too(weakness removal (|Yes, please|) ) but I don't think he could be a possiblity unless you got him thru the past but even so... since I highly doubt they will give white mages Reviviscence, why not have him in the list of Trust system npcs?

This game has its good and its bad, a lot of the bad has been replaced with good, and vice versa. A lack of drop rates and annoying systems of stupid were replaced by nice drop rates and reward systems, but with that came a lack of content and the outdating of basically everything that used to be, leaving an empty feeling in its place. An example of how I see things.

I've taken so much heat over the years from my gamer friends because I play FFXI instead of newer games.Sadly one of the drawbacks to this game, I am trying to get some of my friends to come back with the return campaign, perhaps you should do the same!

I got a friend in about a year ago....
About 5mo back... he started cracking jokes [read: bitching] about how godawful XI looks...
He was playing on like 400x300 resolution.... with everything on low....

I don't understand how people can play games on the computer and not ever mess with basic visual settings like resolution.

Hello, everyone!
Glad to hear you are all excited for the December version update!
I just wanted to drop in a let you know one thing about the movement speed increase. We will be increasing the movement speed for both adventurers and monsters by 25%. The movement speed bonuses granted by equipment, Super Kupopower, and other avenues will also be boosted based on this new movement speed.
I wanna go fast! :p

Awesome!
Just out of curiosity, will chocobo's receive any movement speed increase?

And will it still cap at the same rate? If so then Flee is becoming less and less useful ><
Fleet wind or Chocobo Jig 2 and Chocobo Mazurka + some movement speed feet/legs will soon be 75% +gear, and very nearly max flee speed.

For those of us who can't move at the speed of light this is delightful! Kudos on increasing movement speed for both monsters and adventurers ^^ I like having danger in my MMO. Arigatou!

you forget this game was created back in the manual days >_>. All these new games, systems, and easier access to technology makes it just so much more automated. you'd never have to mess with your settings if you owned an xbox and any form of an HDMI cord :)

What about chocobos, escort quest NPCs, and Campaign NPCs? Also, this has created some concern because we now have 25% less space to kite monsters with jobs like SMN, and our magic cast times aren't reduced.

would be nice to change the einjerhar constraint where time limit is reduced to 10mins if you have less than 6 players. :o the level 75 chambers can be easily done with less than 6 but the 10 min constraint makes it incredibly hard to low man on T2-T3 chambers, esp you get unlucky with things like worms or dark elementals and that silly manticore boss who likes resetting hate!

You know, this is the second post I've found where a key point didn't make it out of the original Japanese post: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/29469-%E7%A7%BB%E5%8B%95%E9%80%9F%E5%BA%A6%E3%82%A2%E3%83%83%E3%83%97%EF%BC%9A%E3%82%82%E3%81%86%E3%81%9D%E3%82%8D%E3%81%9D%E3%82%8D%E3%81%84%E3%81%84%E3%82%93%E3%81%98%E3%82%83%E3%81%AA%E3%81%84%E3%81%8B%E3%81%84%EF%BC%9F?p=481468&viewfull=1#post481468
I admit, I'm not the best at reading Japanese (despite four years in college...) But Matsui's post seems to say that the upper movement speed is remaining capped to avoid clipping.
So while no clue how that will affect Escort NPCs, that does seem to indicate that Chocobos and Flee speed will NOT be getting any kind of boost, just instead of being 200% they will be uh... (does math bah) 160% speed? Sorry, four years of engineering classes killed my ability to do basic math.

Will quests that reward based on time completed be adjusted too? For example, the Mimeo Stone climb quest in Attohwa Chasm rewards based off of how many times the stone faded in color before you get to the top of Parradamo Tor. There are others like this, but this is just an example. If Chocobos do in fact get this speed boost as well, it would also effect the Chocobo Riding Game quests, when you escort the Lost Chocobo from one stable to its original stable.
Another thought, if monsters are getting this boost as well, will it be impossible to see monsters, such as Cactrot Rapido, even coming?

Once Cactrot Rapido reaches 88 MPH, he'll only spawn in Eastern Altepa Desert [S].

I caught this on the welcome back adventurers page! I am worried...
Faster movement: 25% movement speed increase in outdoor areas!
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease tell me this will work in town too. Seems to me if there was a area you shoudlnt have it is oustide areas (as opposed to in town) cause of all the potential issues that crop up but gettin around town faster would be nice.
keep in mind i would love it to be everywhere just saw this "outside" part and it concerns me.

The trailer showed a character running in town, so I think you're good. If they're restricting it anywhere, based on that text, I'd say we'll be unable to run in dungeons.

I wish they would just make large zones SMALLER. I mean, how hard would it be to get rid of say...half a zone...of course it would look incomplete. Just picture half a Port Jeuno, but it would be easier to cross through!!!

I don't the wide scan thing is a bit much if you really wanted it then you can sub ranger or beast their tracker jobs so their suppose to have it. If anything would be best to added just to cor and keep ranger's and beast as is. Sense cor's limited to just using a gun. There is nothing special about subing /rng now thanks a lot Square >.>
