View Full Version : Does alliance shirt +1 affect bayld prices?

I'm wondering if this shirt is useful for anything more than buying GEO plates if you don't already have all GEO spells.

While it does NOT affect Bayld prices.... (no clue if that is "working as intended" or not)
It DOES increase the amount of gil you get for whatever crap you NPC in Adoulin.... Again, no clue if that's intended or not.

If I had the inventory, that would be awesome.

More gils? I'm game if it works in Mog Garden.
Community reps: could you get us some swift confirmation/denial that the shirt is working as intended? If it's going to be nerfed in December in terms of selling-to-NPC prices, or buffed in terms of reducing bayld prices, those are deal-makers and breakers for nearly everyone.

It doesn't work in gardens. And it's only 1.2% so not really sure it's worth the time running back to an npc vendor outside to get that and still less than what you get in home nations with max fame

You just saved a lot of people a lot of login points. Thanks!

As some of you might have already discovered, in addition to the “While in Adoulin: Vendor prices -5%” effect, the Alliance Shirt +1 also has an effect of boosting the amount you can sell items to Adoulin vendors. This is working as intended. :D

No effect on Mog Garden, no buy :(

They'll probably fix that... Or add to it since Mog Gardens are IN Adoulin.
(I also expect +1 versions of the boots and pants to be in December's Login Campaign... probably with more price adjustment... or better yet, bayld price adjustment.)
Plus, did some real testing, it's +2.5% (ie x1.025)... so this is basically the "Fast Cast" of gear price reduction.
ex Math: 338 w/shirt 330 w/o 338/330= 1.024242424~ -1= 0.0242424~ *100%= 2.424242424~%
So it's probably rounded down 2.5%. (plus that's 1/2 of the main %.... Fast Cast.)
But it also seems to always add at least 1gil to whatever. ex: 5 w/o ==> 6 w/shirt (which is a 20% increase.)
Didn't look at any pricey items, but given that it's only a 2.5% increase, you're gonna get roughly a tad less than that on values less than 1000.

Actually pretty sure one of the posts yesterday flat out said Mog Gardens were NOT in Adoulin. And especially not now that people w/o SoA will be able to access them.

If you were refering to Fujito's... they are in Adoulin. They will just be reachable everywhere come Dec11.
The whole premise is that you own one of those little isles on the Adoulin map.
And considering they didn't allow the Mog Garden to exist to the past due to "it's the past"... It is not unlikely that they will enable the shirt to affect Mog Garden sells too.
And the argument "it doesn't exist in Adoulin because people without the expansion can access it" is not only horribly recursive, but also heavily flawed.
People without Adoulin can not only make the +1, but also get Alliance Shirts (and got one for free).
The argument "people can go there without the expansion, so it's not in Adoulin" is stupid.
It's still a part of Adoulin.
It's still located in Adoulin.
Come Dec11 you will just be able to take one of those small boats there... which given that it's halfway across the world... that's not a fun voyage.
EDIT: from the official website:
Little slices of pastoral paradise, mog gardens are parcels of land apportioned to pioneers for their service to Adoulin. They sit upon the various tiny islets that dot the Senroh Sea, but do not be deceived by their size.
The only change that will be made will be the bold.
Come Dec11 they will now be grants of land given to Adventurers that prove their worth. (rank3)

Actually I was referring to a Matsui post, but the relevant line for some reason did not make it into the posted English translation.
The post in Japanese was this one - http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/37791-11%E5%91%A8%E5%B9%B4%E8%A8%98%E5%BF%B5%E7%89%B9%E5%88%A5%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%9A%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3%E3%81%AB%E3%81%A4%E3%81%84%E3%81%A6?p=481137&viewfull=1#post481137
The first part got posted in English, the second part, which specifically states the Gardens are NOT in Adoulin was not for some reason.
It actually makes a TINY bit of sense. The Gardens are in Ulbaka - the continent, but not Adoulin - the city.
Or rather I'm sure that's the justification, lol.

Oh snap! I didn't see that post. And I am 100% sure you are 100% correct about that being their justification....
But that argument is just plain stupid...
Because according to that logic:
The Florida Keys are not a part of Florida.
Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Alaska are not a part of the US.
And Hokkaido is not a part of Japan.
Because they aren't part of the landmass touching the capital... because that's the only way "this continent is ruled by this city-state" and these islands not being a part of this city-state but a part of this continent has any sort of logical ground to stand on.... Even though applying said logic to real-world identical situations shows just how absurd that argument is....
Are you at the current capped fame? Because if you look above I get exactly 1.2% when I did it
I am not... or at least I don't think so.
I might be.... I've never actually checked my Adoulin Fame.
BUT, in order to get a good and accurate %, one would have to use an item of at least 100gil.
1000gil would be more accurate than 100 (because that way you'd find out if it rounds up or down).
I used something that priced for 330 and something that priced for 5gil without the shirt. Put on the shirt, and the 330 became 338 (+2.42%) and the 5 became 6 (+20%).
And seeing as how others are getting +2.5% and that number is 1/2 the price adjustment when buying... It's most likely just like Fast Cast. (the do seem to like doing stats that have a secondary stat effect at 1/2 the potency of the main)
And are you sure your math is right? +1.2% would mean your fraction would be 1.012~
Or is your fame not maxed?
Are vendors in Adoulin affected by the fame there? I never buy anything from them so I've never paid attention to know or not... >_>
EDIT: hmmmmm...... this is gonna require more math... and items that npc for +1kgil.....
bluh.
I'm pretty confident that it's +2.5%, because that just makes things pretty. (Watson+Crick ftw)
But it could be lower.... or it could even be variable based on fame such that cap fame would give +5%...
Because I am fairly confident that I am NOT at max fame.... (I've done like 2 quests.... unless coalition assignments raise fame... then I very well might be capped.)

SHUSH! You're bringing in-game examples to why they should add the effect to the moogle there!
You're using too much good logic!!
It's too dangerous for that!

I used something that was exactly 1k without shirt that ended up being 1012 with it. I used a few others that also got similar amounts. Right now Hakuryu is 10285 without shirt, 10413 with, 10285 in garden, same in jueno, 10490 in hometown. I'll have to wait later to check my fameless mules
I'm guessing what it more than likely does is set you to some equivalent fame level so your mileage might vary alot based on your fame.

hmmmmm.... I'm betting your right about the fame linkage if you're getting such numbers....
I guess I'll have to find the new fame checker NPC in Adoulin.
Of course it could be something ridiculously overly complicated... like if price <x then q%, if >x and <y then r%, if >y and <z then p%, if >z then w%....
It would be really nice to just have a dev say "its a scaling % based on fame".
Also: do you have max fame, Dasva? I don't believe I do... and if you do... it doesn't make sense to me for you to be getting less % with more fame than me.

So here is an intersting thing my no fame mule is getting 10285 without shirt. My other characters are all at current cap of 5. All missions and quests minus af done. So it looks like fame doesn't effect normal npc price. Don't have a a shirt on that mule nor do I want to really waste the points on it to see if it effects shirt selling prices... but I might have to.
Tried some other items though. Panamas: 20-> 20.Red terrapin: 300 -> 303.Giant Catfish: 100-> 101.Gavial fish: 500->506 . HQ scorpion shell: 3420->3462. Urganite shell: 1500 -> 1518. Solid 1.2% all the way rounding down as necessary
Also might be noted that I am still getting 5% reduction in buying

Ok so after doing a BUNCH of testing... it would seem that this is just bizarre.
On an item being 400 normally becomes 405 with the shirt, a 1.25% increase.
BUT a 300 and 200 item become only 303 and 202, respectively; only a 1% increase...
And then you have 1000 items becoming 1012, 1.2% increase...
The biggest items I looked at were 15,400, 7,296, and 6,175... and they became 15,592, 7,387, and 6,252; all a 1.25% increase...
But then items at really close values: 3,307 and 4,720 result in differing percent increases: 3,348 (1.24%) and 4,779 (1.25%)....
And while it could be due to rounding by the price adjustments...
It seems more like there's tiers to the price adjustment.
Ex: 100-300; 1%
400-?00; 1.2%
1000-3500; 1.24%
4000+; 1.25%
I'm gonna assume that my earlier 338 was an account of me misremembering...
But I have no idea why the 405 is a full 1.25% increase... while base 200 and 300 are so much lower.
Cause with the higher prices, the % increase was almost perfectly 1.25%.
(I'm talking. 0.01249999999999999999999999~)
I suppose it could just be 300*1.0125=303.75 and SE fails rounding math for life...
But that hurts my analytical soul.
But I suppose that's what it is... their program must ignore all decimal values.
Which causese wierd things like 400 giving you the full 1.25% increase, but 500 giving you only a 1.2% increase... wtf ><;;
