View Full Version : SE, the missions for Seekers of Adoulin have been shameful

One thing that has always differentiated FFXI from other MMOs is its story. Each expansion has told a grand story. Seekers of Adouline was released over 7 months ago and there has been a single BCNM. The lone BCNM was released back in August and it was not fun at all. No thought went into it. This update, all we have are cutscenes around town and a cutscene at Foret. That's it.

SE, you have no excuses. Where is the effort? During WOTG, an update would bring 6 nation quests usually with 3 NM battles and 3 BCNMs. Other times a WOTG update would bring assault type missions, new bosses, new battles. How is Seekers of Adoulin even Final Fantasy? There are no chocobos, no new avatars, no Final Fantasy lore. I'm sure that is all coming...but when?

The golden age of FFXI was during COP - when battles were tuned to requiring good gear and acted as stepping stones to unlock additional content. FFXIV currently does this right.

We paid for an expansion back in March. Where is our game? What's the point of upgrading our gear if there is no story to push further? What's the point of doing coalition tasks over and over if there is no goal to push towards? Basically you have released a version of FF7 that only contains Midgard. You can grind on things till you're max level, but you have nowhere to go, no progress to be made and no journey to start.

Don't release a mission update unless there is going to be at least 3 BCNMs.

Those WotG updates were a lot less frequent but far more substantial and meaty. The Adoulin missions remind me of Aht Urhgan in terms of pacing. I just hope that the ending doesn't feel rushed and patched together like ToAU was.

Hey! That sexy zombie prince.... gave his unlife... because... no Cure4?
>_>

I can't say anything about Adoulin missions... I've done enough to WKR and Delve... and have been holding off on them until I can "watch the whole movie"...
I hope there aren't those annoying random 24hr waits like ToAU...

I think I'd rather have cutscenes than battlefields. I hate getting bottlenecked at battles, especially difficult ones. Is the current crop all cutscenes? I haven't looked into it yet.

But so far, I have to agree with Detlef that this feels a lot like the pace of Aht Urghan.

I did feel end of TOAU was bit rushed, I really enjoyed WOTG though. I hope they pull through for SOA.

All of chapter 3 are just cutscene related. there is a fetch quest but it doesn't even involve leaving town.

I really enjoyed TOAU :(

I am enjoying the story of Adoulin so far, but i agree it REALLY needs more fights.
