Just got out of cleaving birds in Misery Coast. Only 8 mobs gave xp...everytime. Anyone else notice this?

I think that's how it has always been. You can get a chest from every mob you kill but you can only receive XP from up to 8 mobs at simultaneously.

Really? That sucks. :(

As a note, it only works that way in Abyssea. It is most likely something to do with the way EXP is calculated; every kill in Abyssea you make potentially influences the EXP gained from the next mob, via whether or not you kill mobs of the same species in succession, and therefore there's a limit on how many simultaneous kills it can "handle" at once.

Yeah it's always worked that way. When we used to Xp burn in abyssea, we generally would go with a blue Mage using a conal attack for killshot if pulling a lot of mobs

Always been that way.
Really? That sucks. :(Not necessarily if you aoe kill the right way, which is not buffing to the max. I never use MS for cleaving and usually kill no more than up to 8 mobs at once anyway. There are some though I'm sure who will argue that I am wrong and it is better to use MS and get the chests because for the cleaver it is usually about the chest rewards for them as they have no other reason to do what they do. I don't personally see the hassle of resetting my 2 hr after every wave as worth the trouble. It's mere seconds saved per wave at best, and I save thousands of cruor as a result which is usually the only reason I will cleave anyone, the cruor.
It's alittle harder for magic users to pull this off so I suppose it sucks for them, but when I've done it as BLM and with what I've seen from BLUs doing it, they seem to inherit the same outcomes as cleaving does in abyssea when you don't buff up to destroy the universe. It's just a lot more dangerous for them to do when it's not as likely for them to have a healer nearby to spam cures as all cleaving warriors do.
