RUN AF2 Looks Terrible, Please Make Modifications

So apparently the models for RUN and GEO AF2 were included in this last version update.

GEO looks great. RUN does not.

That is possibly the worst color that could have possibly been picked. I'm not really sure what I want instead, but it needs to not be that horrible peach color. I would say black or gray, but I think that's already planned for AF3. White with blue runic designs would probably be pretty cool, but there are less drastic color changes that I could settle for that would be within the concept that the original art offered.

Unless I missed something, RUN AF2 has not yet been featured on any NPCs or in-game cutscenes (whereas I've been told GEO's has- I don't have GEO leveled so someone who does will have to verify that). That means there is still time! Please consider this request!

It's always been like this actually - looks like the male version isn't as bright, though it may just be the lighting.

As noted in the OP, I am aware of the original concept art for it. Ideally I would like a completely different color scheme, but I would settle for a less pastel red-orange.

I agree with you... To a point. RUNs next gear is the worst color on apeice of gear Ive seen since the pink Ranger.

The AF fights scream RUN as a tank, as they are exceptionally elemental based. Only one I had a slight difficulty with was the Marlboro for GEO AF1 since I can't defend against multiple elemental ailments at the same time. Tax'et too could probably be done with a RUN instead of PLD since it is a solitary element (not to mention when stuck in DD party can keep them from dying so much too). Delve in and of itself is not quite as likely as RUN is not a job in which you are permitted a fast pace unfortunately.

You won't see a shout for "PLD or RUN" because they function completely differently.
RUN protects front line parties and contributes to DPS (as they get fully buffed).
PLD keeps stuff off the RNG partys, or holds adds. Most are oblivious to what benefits RUN brings to the party.

JP have been shouting for 2xRUN in foret 1-5+ boss runs since before the AF was even released (Would refuse to go without them). They get put in the DD partys to keep them alive during the aura phases. I suspect they will be vital in the hurkan/yumcax delve version fights too.
Sure, we don't get asked to sac in a random plasm farm party, but is that a bad thing?

Edit: On topic, the color is pretty bad, but i'd like to see an example on a male character to see if it's a bit darker.

Weapons only. We will have to wait and see if they are obtainable as typical relic and empyrean gear. Wouldnt fit the story though, at least for relic.

Seems the first runefencers sword is still kicking around. It even has status in game as a legendary weapon so I would like orvails sword or the equivalent GS.

To be fair.... these shots are on Mithra.
Ain't no gear that isn't sexualized for Mithra.
I mean.... just look at the difference between a male character in GEO AF....1.... and a female... Which is the one in hotpants and a coat that doesn't cover their butt.... and who's the one in baggy pants with a dress tail on their jacket?

You can't know much about fashion history :p. masculine/feminine colors change greatly over time. It's not too long ago purple and pink were considered manly colors.

This is the big reason. People are still stuck thinking RUN = TANK1110101 without understanding what exactly a "tank" is and why it's totally useless in FFXI. RUN is a support DD, they deal damage while being impervious to high damage magic attacks and conferring much of that immunity to their party members. Valiance and OFA are godlike in their utility.

First off: It's not pink. The Abyssea Aurore set was pink. In fact, it wasn't just pink... it was PANK.
Go back to elementary school and learn your colors. (or wherever colors are taught to children) That is a colored usually referred to as "salmon" an offshoot of red, much like pink, but contains far more orange than could ever be allowed in pink.
Secondly: This is on a MITHRA. ALL armor gets super feminized/sexualized on Mithra characters... even moreso than female humes and elvaan. (sorry taru girls... most of the time your armor.... aside from like dnc... I can't tell you apart... T_T)
Chances are, given the trend of all the other armor sets, it's going to probably be more of a red-ochre color on men and this salmon color on women. (which means I'll be able to add RUN AF2 to my list of "armor that lets me tell the genders of Taru at a glance"!!)
And finally: Why will wearing this make you insulted? Will your manhood drop off if you wear pink? Will you catch "the gay"?
I'm not even going to try and argue "real men where pink"... because they don't.

So your remark made directly at me to go back to elementary school and learn my colors does not apply to the comment.

In no way is this a sexist or a chauvinistic remark. In no way have I offended the other sex or have I said that my gender is superior. It is not a homophobic remark either because I did not express ill feelings against homosexuality.

And yes, not only am I insulted, but also uncomfortable wearing pink. Especially RUN being the job I play most of the time now. Now, I admit that adding the word "man" was exaggerated on my part. It was an impulsive word that I used to show my disdain to the use of the color. So for that, I do apologize. But why do I make a big deal out of it? Clear and simple. I don't like pink.

But please understand that I joined this thread to express my agreement towards the title of the thread, that the RUN AF2 is horrible. I am but one of many that dislike it's appearance. I did not join to make any controversies as to what the color pink could or used to represent. I came to this thread with peaceful intention. I would have to double check the models, but even the gear that sports the highest degree of differences between genders (i.e. DNC AF1/2/3) uses the same color pallet.


Now, I want to emphasize that I don't dislike the colors used because they aren't "masculine" or whatever. COR AF has some pinkish/salmon tones in it, and yet it works well. This, however, looks atrocious to nearly anyone's eye due to its overall displeasing composition.

AF2 has traditionally always been a reskin of AF1, so there's nothing wrong with that. AF3 will have a new design (and looks to be pretty cool looking according to the concept art).

That's actually the point. Once it is obtainable, there's no way they are going to change it (and yes, I know the chances of them ever changing it are very close to 0%- but whatever). AF2 has also traditionally been kind of a big deal, so I wouldn't call it completely trivial.

That's why I only wear DNC AF when I feel the need to play DNC... (Sure it's not as good as other gear... but I'm not playing DNC for any other reason but to feel FA~BU~LO~US!)

Dancer AF really doesn't look bad at all. It may not be my favorite armor in the game, but it is designed reasonably well.
