The Music in the Title screen is annoyingly loud and is really infuriating when changing characters while watching TV or listening to music on the same PC.
Please add a Button to mute the Title Music thats plays as soon as the game starts, add a little box that you can check to Mute so it wont play ever again unless you uncheck it.
Thank you
Sincerely my Ears.

Would be nice if it just maintained the volume settings from the last logged in character, including aspect ratio so I'm not stuck looking at fat characters on my 16:10 display.

I wished they never changed it. I hate hearing that music when I log in. I have to hear it twice to cause I log in with two characters.

Yeah that hard brass intro is way too much. It needs to be removed for something less annoying.

Let us change which song we hear on the title screen. Just make sure that "Off" or "Silent" is one of the options.
Add a "Random" option, too, which you're at it.

Adoulin's theme song sucks, let us choose which music we want.
I.e. this one (for those who remember) :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqlfxHDAfws

Yea unfortunately, i've got used to play this game muted because i can't stand that fricking loud scream on my ears on title screen. I don't understand why these morons never fixed that after 11 years.

Does anyone remember what was the tune before the Adoulin update? I rather liked that one and miss it...

I'd like this feature too. Actually, a Mute feature in the game would be nice. It would be more convenient than turning the volume up and down manually.

Just an idea for those who are so very annoyed by this 'issue': adjust system sound for the duration of the title-screen. ^^;

Would be the track: Wings of the Goddess, assuming that expansion is installed. I do prefer that, or even the original Vana'diel march over the Adoulin theme (which I don't have yet, so ha!). The title shouldn't be that loud and all over your face. Nothing wrong with the track itself; I don't mind it, but it's a bit out-of-place, in my opinion...
As for the topic, this is a bit old, but I'll mention it anyblue:
Q: Is there a way to adjust the volume of the title screen BGM? It always seems to be either too loud or too soft, and never just right.
A: While both in-game and PlayOnline Viewer music volume can be adjusted in their respective configuration screens, there regrettably is no way to adjust volume for the title screen. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't know if they might have magickally discovered a way to change the volume now, which I'm not bothered by one bit, however, it would be nice to have the option to choose which track plays first!
Also, here's a few related things from the past:

You can just mute your entire PC while logging in. There's also the Mixer option so you can mute only FF, then unmute once you're logged in. Honestly, I'd rather SE spent their time on something more productive than the music I'll hear for only a few seconds every day.

Try sending yourself a couple of mil from a few mules while streaming something from your PC to your TV at the same time.
Having to manually Mute the game or turn the volume down like 20 times in a row isn't the solution unless you only use the PC for gaming.
They can spare the 10 minutes this would take to code, i mean if they can waste time for a "Bank" Chest they can waste time for this, so we dont have to delete the dats every time they update the game.

considering I play with the game silenced most of the time so I can listen to my music I would love this (none of the themes over the years have blended all that well with Cream as an example). Of course, I used to substitute songs from my collection for the game sound files anyway, but that makes me get sick of hearing good songs too quickly, not to mention being too much like work.

Yeah I'd like an option to randomize with the older themes or to turn it off completely.

Agreed. After 11 years, why isn't this an option in the config program?

Works wonders, Most keyboards have a "Mute" options built right in you can press to turn on/off Mute. I know it can be a minor inconvenience to have to mute your game, all that darned finger movements are just inconsiderate on SE's part.

While I'm not against the option, I just don't think its as catastrophically disrupting as you guys make it seem.

If you actually read the post above yours, you'd have read that you can just turn down the volume for FFXI, so as to not interrupt your valuable PC > TV Streaming. If you always stream, watch TV or listen to music at the same time, just leave ffxi muted permanently. If not, just leave it muted until you finish sending all your gil to/from mules.

YES! That was it!
Now if only there was a way to change it to that one.... hmm.....

Looks like I forgot to mention one thing:

Not sure how you would be 'stuck' in an aspect ratio, but anyways, if one is too lazy to adjust them settings for separate characters, one can easily load the settings of another character by taking advantage of the character selection screen. ^^
(Again though, in-game volume has nothing to do with the title-screen volume, unfortunately (and oddly).)

I was referring to how the main menu/character-select screen's aspect ratio is always at 4:3.

that is all it needs. Every time I log out to change a character my mom complains of hearing it and it hurts my ears because it is so much louder then normal volume.
the fat characters thing is a smaller problem but it would be nice to fix as well

I would live to be able to change it to any of the previous title screen musics, the Adoulin music is far to harsh on the ears!
