Can you give more detail? I mean I can figure out what you are saying but it might be good to explain how it needs to fixed and what your idea of a solution would be.
Personally I think Macros are long outdated. You don't even get enough lines to switch all of your gear in 1 macro and when swapping gear it tends to only do 1 task at a time per line which in the case of using 3 macros to swap out 1 set of gear, you have the chance of not having certain pieces swapped.
I really think the DEVs need to come up with a new system or Revamp it because going 11 years with the macro system we have now is not the same as back then when we had less jobs, less gear, less reason to use as many macros as we do now.

Well i ujse a maco book for each job. with the 2 new jobs i dont have enough macro books to use with each job now. i actually use 2 for blm, one for VW one for abyssea.

Then again how can he do it withough screwing up everyone restricted to PS2?
This is why I think it would be better if we didn't have so many pieces of gear. Especially items that only give you 1 reason to keep it. As long as we put the effort to earn it, then The DEV team should allow us pieces to replace all other items that have mediocre stats.
This new update give us mages very good Magic Accuracy, however I cannot throw away any Enfeebling gear for the sake of cap which leads to still having more equipment added to the items on top of what I have. I maybe able to throw away Plenitas Virga but look at the situation we are now coming to?
Yeah it's old, there are better items. But it's not the only factor that should give you a reason to drop it. And I don't think we should ever be placed in a position like this to choose dropping an item you worked hard for because I remember the day I got it. After completing all VW story line, a new friend I made invited me to PW, got it on my very first run because nobody put name up for it.
Having it now may only serve the purpose of memories. But putting us in a position to decide if we should throw away items like these for the sake of inventory is the same as telling you to decide which photos to keep and which ones to throw away.
But back to the point, too much gear implemented, too many reasons to use more macros. I see Matsui is giving us better gear with better stats. I just hope this is a good solution to make us carry less gear and use less macros.
Which could free up some additional space for the other jobs we play.

Btw I agree that 20 books for 22 jobs is common sense that we should have 2 more books added for those jobs. I'd hate to add macros on an existing book that I have set for a different job. Wouldn't want to waste additional seconds to accidentally scroll onto the wrong set. However I do try my best to use 1 book for jobs that share the same spells like WHM/SCH/RDM. It's the gear that can make it complicated. But at least if its basic Spellcasting I try to separate gear and macros for this situation.

First, lol, the OP didn't need to elaborate. Few words said it well enough.
Second, some jobs can take up all 10 sets in their book. We could definitely use 25 books (a spare for monstrosity, and idk... maybe other things)
But yeah, scholar is a big offender on macro book space, even if you don't have macros that are just gearswaps. I could see scholar making effective use of two books with gear swap buttons.
PLD uses a lot of subs these days and I have a line for /DNC /WAR /RDM /RUN /DRK /SCH /NIN (can't remember the last time I used that)

Well yeah I know that but then again you get replies from the community reps asking for details. I even agreed with the OP.
If you leave the question too simple, the response may never be taken seriously unless you give details. Even so I said PS2 limitations make it hard to alter a system that's been used for the past 11 years. I'm sure Matsui would have known this already before implementing 2 additional jobs. I don't see Devs just put things out without thinking. I'm sure If Matsui wanted to alter macros he would have limits to think about also.
I definitely wouldn't want to login one day and find my macros all screwed up.
As I said I notice he is putting extra stats on items. Bye bye Arka IV, Bokwus gloves with improved stats, these items tell me he is trying to give us higher stats that will require us to use less gear. Which means less gear swaps, less macros. I just hope to see more improvements like this.
I'm sure the additional stats added onto Bayld gear from this recent update now frees up some space allowing you to drop several older content gear. Or gives you a better reason not to waste your time buying other gear you would only use temporarily.

I can't remember where, but it was stated that they have no intention of adding more macro books.

Greetings,
Good observation regarding 20 jobs and 20 macro books but these matching numbers are actually by coincidence and we never intended to have one book per job.
We can understand that creating one book per job would make things easier to organize but we would need to continue adding them every time a new job is introduced. We feel that 200 macros are sufficient and for that reason we do not plan on adding more books at this time.

Almost been a full year since that community rep reply. Time flies.

I don't use many gear swap macros, but the jobs I play don't need as many. Most of my macro sets are holiday related. Like switching between costumes, and I actually have some christmas carols marco'd out for the dream bell. :3 (If people didn't know you can play different notes)
