View Full Version : A proposed way to fix HNM's in ToAU area

Since there's a discussion concerning Mythic right now, I thought it'd be a nice idea to take a moment to run this through.

Khimaira
Hydra

These are the big bad boys of the ToAU area. They are needed to be killed in order for one to make a Mythic.

Nidhogg
Aspidecholon (SP)
King Behemoth

These are the big bads for the Black Belt quest. These are pop nm's that are being spammed right now due to the login campaign.


I'll try this appeal again: Can we please make the HNM's in ToAU areas also pop mobs? 48/72 hours to -wait- on a mob to respawn is just too long, if Matsui even cares about the M segment, he'll at least make -one- portion not so bad of a headache since people can pop their own NM's and not fear of being outclaimed by someone wanting the kill just for the sword/club/axe/GS and have trust issues who won't invite people needing the kill.

(Right now I gave up on Hauteclaire because I don't want to spend a possible 24 hours waiting on Khim for only a 7% chance of the sword dropping, and then the fear of being outclaimed by someone or a bot.)

they are not needed to be killed to be able to do a mythic....

go hunt gurfurl, medas and jarjarbinks, those 3 are needed for a mythic

and if you think the NM/Title gathering part is hard you better stop now on the mythic (because it is the easiest and fastest part of the mythic quest)

In addition to the fact that we’ve eased up on the difficulty of salvage and other content, we are planning to make it possible to enhance mythic weapons even further with the scheduled revamps, and we’ve determined that we are not quite at the proper point in time to reduce the spawn timers.

We would like to keep an eye on conditions and there is a possibility that we make this change down the line.

Take a letter, Camate.

Address it to the devs.

Tell them that the NMs are for the useless level 75 versions of mythic, not the level 99 versions that are getting buffed, which will have other arduous and/or impossible tasks in order to ensure that no one attains them.

You make me want to quit this game with your insanely stupid reasoning for not doing things which make perfect sense. What is point is there in having NMs at level 75 content that take this long to pop in the first place? The challenge should be the fight, not me waiting around watching a movie or a TV show for 3 days straight while waiting on a stupid easy ass monster to pop up so I can kill it in less than 5 minutes so that I can move on to one of the other 2 monsters that are exactly the same in terms of how long they take to pop up, and are still no challenge at all. If you want to challenge me, make me earn my weapon, make it reasonable. I hate farming Dynamis, but at least I am doing something, at least it has a chance at entertaining me, I dont enter the area & proceed to watch a TV show or movie, clean my house, goto the store, or otherwise while I wait on your game to be slightly enjoyable to me, I actually do something. But this... this content? No, this is nothing but a waste my, and everyone else's, time.

If this response was from Matsui, it was a poorly thought out response. The difficulty was never with Salvage, it was the inane amount of Alexandrite required and the very limited means of acquiring it. Starting with the average of how little Alexandrite dropped per run while consuming a great deal of other people's time that can't work towards the same goal without the process being dragged out unreasonably long.

You have enough forced time sinks in the Mythic quest line, there shouldn't be an issue with adjusting the timers on those 3 mobs.

You perfectly state everything wrong with this. If it weren't for monstrosity, I would cancel FFXI until the next version update. I'm well past these 3 NMs on my mythic weapon, but this shows their attitude toward mythic, and I'm sick of paying them money for that treatment.

Monstrosity is great. I would say put the Monstrosity guy on mythic, but I don't want the one truly fun content in the game (Monstrosity) to become unfun if someone new is put in charge of that. But I bet the Monstrosity guy could make Salvage into a blast, and Alexandrite would be cheaper because no one could get enough of the fun, and 30,000 may be reasonable.

To think, all they would have to do is adjust one little parameter somewhere that changes a number for each NM, but nope not gonna happen. The will of the devs is the will of the game. I can just see a community rep asking them about this & their response being "no, it's fine how it is" or maybe Tanaka left a list of things not to touch before he left to keep the devs "on track".

Heck, I can think of how to fit it in.

Make versions of the mob part of some L99 content for ToAU. The Empress wants to lure the beastman leaders out into a trap- but the only way to do so is by constructing an item of such value as a "tribute" that the creature is sure to venture out.

This costs an obscene amount of Imperial coinage, or an even MORE obscene amount. Multiple stacks of gold coins obscene.

Option #1 gets you a boss fight similar to the current toughness level. Option #2 gets you an Adoulin-level encounter that has items that can be used for COR and BLU AF4 (item level 113+-ish?) gear/constructing some neat-o Adoulin-level weaponry for anyone else, plus the appropriate flagging for the Empy weapon. If you're feeling really generous, you can even make #2 the way to upgrade those to Adoulin-level gear as well.

Voila, you've just revitalized ToAU area use and didn't have to make so much as a single new monster model to do it.

The worst part (other than trying to camp these NMs) is that the requirement is in the early stages of the Mythic process. While you can build up your tokens, amps, and alex whenever you please, you can't start your assaults until this requirement has been fulfilled. I feel bad for people who can't even unlock Duties, Tasks, and Deeds.

i don't see how making it a pop is a issue mr camate. just for example in khimaras case replace the soulflayers on half the island with lv 115 soulflayers and make it a 1% drop and bam u got balance people dont have to wait but low enouph to keep u happy >.>

Please understand that the Beastmen king part is a cock block for all the rest. You can start collecting alexandrites/einherjar/nyzul whenever you want, really. And despite what people think this is the "easy" part. The annoying part of the quests are actually the ASSAULT LOG quest, which cannot be started before the HNM part, and that, no matter how hardcore you are, will take at least 50 days after getting the titles.

Now an advice to people starting the quest: the TaU HNMs are up after a maintenance, this will save you a lot of camping.

How about we just generalize and get rid of multi-day repops? That's a very stressful thing to deal with, and the sooner the beasties can all pop and people can get w/e they want/need (Beast kings, Cerb/Khim/Hydra) and then even go so far as to look into every other nm that requires multiple days to respawn, one in particular that has been a stressful thing is the trotter boots nm...
