Ever used a lame excuse for your mistake? I know we all have them, so let the cat out of the bag because I know it would be funny to see what excuses you've used to dodge haters in your party for doing something stupid.

Here's an Example. Omg Why didn't you heal me!!?? You let me die!!!

Sorry.... I was Petrified and Paralyzed :(

You never know, you may learn some new tricks to add on to your adventure! I know many people don't read the forums lol! And the ones that do??

Shhh keep it a secret...Now you know why we used that excuse lol.

"I wanted to hear the Raise 3 sound effect."

Actually, that's true. Well, the first time, maybe not the next few...

"You were out of range of my Magic Fruit"

Back when I was stupid and didn't realize I couldn't use Magic Fruit in people in ally.

/ Yeah I've used this as an excuse as I think back to equipping my RR earring and thinking "I must remember to use that before I next gear-swap".

I've also watched my RR wear seconds before dying though ><

Never used the Grandma one, but yeah, I thought this would be about Cait Sith too!

Sadly, this has happened more than once for real.

Especially on those long PT's where you're just exping merrily along for hours.

My personal favorite: "My toes are cold!" (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=96)

Way back in the Before Time, a newbie friend of mine called me out to the Horutoto Ruins to show me how he could solo bombs. I made the trek and stood by as a Balloon made short work of him. His response?

"I can only solo when I'm in a party."

"Sorry, I didn't have enough money to buy that scroll before I came out here!"

Back in the early days (shortly after the ps2 NA release) a trek to the Dunes to get an xp party was quite the ordeal. It could take as long as an hour for a lowly level 10 to make the trek to the dunes safely - let alone getting to Selbina or the Outpost so that you could set your home point.

As there were no moogles in Selbina (and the Outpost warp required a minimum level of 20 to use) you had to make the trek on-foot as whatever you wanted to level. The trip home to visit an AH was still almost as dangerous and lengthy as the trip out there to begin with. One bad aggro and you could find yourself back at the start of your journey. As a result, many people went to the dunes preloaded with everything they'd need on the road to level 20...

As a White Mage, the Curaga spell (Lvl 16!) could, if used rightly, save your party from doom. More often than not, though, it was just a quick way to get killed, as no one could hit the IT++ mob to pull hate back off of your awesome party-wide cure. Unless I knew people in the party, the above was often my excuse for why I would rarely cast it.

I may sound spoiled for saying this, but thank god it's not as brutal as it was then. An hour trek...big chance of getting the s--t knocked out of you only to get sent packing back to any nation (I bet Windurst was a pure nightmare because of...well...that ferry)

Windurst was easy, lots of room to avoid agro. Bastok had you run through a chokepoint with tons of agro gobs and a tunnel filled with agro bats...

...suffice it to say that frequently, people would be told to get their newbie butts to Holla so they could get a taxi-WHM teleport out there, being the safest and most handy way to arrive at Valkrum. It's also one reason San d'Oria dominated, new players had the easiest experience of the lot to get everything done- which has carried over ever since, likewise Bastok's WORST trip there being the reason it's always been unofficially a backwater.

Who wouldn't bother you one bit as long as you stayed below. Pirates, Sea Horror, whatever. Perfectly safe as long as you didn't mind hanging out in the hold instead of going upstairs to become monster chow.

Until someone aggroed it and ran below and died, it aggroing you if you were AFK, lol.

Well! Glad to see I'm not the only one who remembers those days. Ah... Good times...

Here's another one I used on occasion that's also sure to spark a few memories:
"brb, wc"

Simple and (more importantly) believable, I would say this just before zoning into a place like Garlaige Citadel or Crawler's Nest. Then, I would lie in wait for one of my party members to get there and zone in before me before I'd be "back".

See, back in the Before Time, mobs didn't despawn. Ever. This lead to situations where someone (usually a THF Flee-ing from a bad pull) would book it for the zone with a naturally aggressive bat or crawler on their butt. And what's the one thing you can count on bats and crawlers to do? Link with every other member of their species in sight. Thus, it was fairly common for said THF to hit the zone with an army of mobs right behind them.

The mobs then begin their very slow trek back to their normal pathing areas. Then, some poor, unsuspecting schmuck walks by, not expecting an aggressive mob right there. This means aggro, which in turn means the still-gathered army of mobs eats you in about 2 seconds flat. The Army of Doom was also probably moved back towards the entrance as the luckless passerby tried to flee for the safety of the zone, which would only restart the whole process.

Depending on the traffic in the zone, this army could hang around for upwards of 30 minutes, devouring dozens of Adventurers. There were times you would zone in and quite literally be dead before your character even loaded!

While I wouldn't say it was common per se, it happened enough times that almost everyone had some experience with it. As the squishy healer, I only felt it was my moral duty to let my less squishy party members go first, to tell me if it was safe enough. And, yes, several times I did have party members die while i quietly waited outside. In my defense, I was the person with the Raise spell...
