View Full Version : Total Disappointment at the loss of the login points from the campaign.

I know I needed to spend the points before the end of the campaign. Unfortunately stuff got in the way, and now I've lost all the points on two of my characters.

My wife only spent a total of 100 points on her main, and lost all of the points on all three characters.

After all the trouble we went through to make sure we logged on each day, it is just a total disappointment to have had such a short window to decide what to spend the points on.

I know it's basically meaningless in the grand scheme, but I am just an unhappy taru about how quickly the points had to be spent.

Sadly I know what you mean by this, but SE told us when everything was going to end. It's not their fault that some people just couldn't manage to spend their points in time (I had 2.4k left on one mule right as the moogle went bye bye) but that was my fault I didn't get it done on time before the event ended.

I know it's my fault as well. That's why I'm expressing the disappointment that I feel.

I am just going to be very wary of working at any event that SE offers that has a short window of redemption time. It was NOT worth making sure I logged on all of those characters every day, when in the end, the points were wasted. I hope in the future they reconsider making events where the points just disappear after a period of time.

I do not want to pile on, but you could have spent your points during the event as well. If you were after the chocobo mask, you would've hit 4k points a week and half plus ago.

I think that the redemption period (after points stopped accumulating) was far too short. Would 2 weeks for redemption have killed them?

Points were wasted because you didn't use them. Why you didn't use them is the question you should be doing since you have time to log in everyday but didn't have 1 day to get the rewards.

Not only that, you could have spent the points at any point while logging in so religiously. My main + 2 mules? Used every point, often as soon as I got them.

Don't cry too much, though. Part of the reason it was so fast is they're doing another one shortly.

Yup yup, sometime this month it'll begin, which will supply us with many many more points to get new goodies. (Here's hoping some TOAU stuff gets put in,)

Details have already gone up in Japanese: http://www.playonline.com/ff11/campaign/11th/login02.html

Short answer - yes this month, no, no ToAU stuff, some categories didn't change at all.

that's stupid, people will already have their relic armor, why put the same ones up again?

Well some things did change - looks like some Ark weapons got rotated out as did the lower-point statues. And the 10 pt category is almost entirely new. But pop item-wise, no changes.

And I've got nothing on the relic armor. I don't do dyna with nearly the frequency that I should, and I have every piece of NQ armor on the moogle already. And most of the -1 pieces.

Yeah, why not swap out those for things like Einherjar/old Nyzul stuff? That'd make the average player happy knowing they got something shiny to look forward to.

I never used my points because I thought I had a chance to earn enough to make chocoholic hat +1. I gave up on the 31st thinking it was over on that day. Now I lost all my points too because I was too busy with work. What a disappointment indeed.

Btw on the 31st I ended with 19 logins. Which 20 logins was needed to make the mask and had I known the event was extended 1 more day I would have reached the 20 login quota.

You had more than enough warning about the deadline so that's kind of your own fault if it was just negligence.

However, gripes about people not being able to use all their points due to not being able to use all the beastly shanks that they wanted to would IMO be quite justified.

I just sold my KSNM99 pops, I got all I wanted so I can fund my jobs throughout early stages (Meaning things like WHM/BLM) and ofc I got my oh-so-lovely E.Body from Nidhogg tonight <3 imo it was a very good campaign, just wish they'd give us more variety in terms of the relic purchasing, considering they gave us Xarc and Beau, why not do the towns now? What is stopping you SE? We needed prereqs to get Xarc and Beau, it's not so different with the cities, and in fact it'd make this login campaign a little more fun since I have relic to look forward to nstead of "omg use/sell mah shanks to the welfare line, toot toot!"

You guys must think everyone can be on the game everyday.

Well, that was kind of the premise of the campaign to begin with... if you weren't the kind of person that could do this, it wasn't something for you to begin with.

It's not like you even had to spend any time actually doing anything in the game, all you had to do was take a bit of time to either log on or change areas, and then take a bit of time to get your stuff. And again, it's not like they did this with no warning, either.

If I logged in 19 times out of 20 attempting to earn the Chocobo mask +1, then that should already tell you that I did try my best. Announcing it 2 days before the event ended was not enough time to know they extended it.

I don't see how they could not announce it earlier when the event was fresh in the early days after the emergency maintenance deprived everyone the opportunity to login that day especially when the topic had been brought up earlier and I did participate in that conversation.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/35528-Will-we-gain-an-extra-day-of-Login-event-since-today-the-game-has-been-down

Had I known I had an extra day I probably would have been home the past week logging in 1 extra day and gotten the mask rather than stay in the city working double shifts and sleeping over a friends house had I known and not lose motivation after thinking I failed after 19 logins.

Honestly I didn't even care about the rest of the prizes. If I did then I wouldn't have tried for the Chocobo mask. So I purposely didn't care to claim anything else.

Btw I'm not crying or whining. I'm just sharing my opinion on why I think this event was a disappointment and why I believe it was not organized properly. I've already sucked it up the minute I found out and have accepted the fact there's nothing I can do about it.

Daemon correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you complaining about the exact opposite thing not too long ago? About 'omg it takes 1 minute to log in' and yet here you are talking about not being able to play.

For about 5 minutes a day to login/logout? Cake. I don't even play most weekdays, but I still had 3800-4100 points or so spent on each of my mules + main.

Just going to ask if you noticed the login point exchange period that was always up on the campaign's page, located here: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/campaign/11th/login01.html

Login is not the problem. I did login 19 times.

Announcing that 1 additional day be added 2 days before the event ended is where my argument is at.

My character was logged in 24/7 during that time afk. I only took a second to zone into another map to gain the points each day up until the 31st.

And if you go back and read my comments, I wasn't debating that SE shouldn't give us an extra day. I just said people could obtain the credit the moment they logged in.

Well I knew about the page, I just didn't go check it again after I assumed the login campaign ended on the 31st.

So what is the problem again? You had 5 days after the point acquisition phase was over to use all your points. You could use up all the points of one character in just 5 minutes. Only reason I spent more was because one of my mules were parked in windwaters_s. I knew that I had until the 5th to buy my items since somewhere around the 18th last month. Them extending the campaign by one (or half a day?) day didn't change this. If you weren't aware of the extention, you would still know when you had to spend the points.

-edit-
In fact, you could have exchanged points for items continously as you acquired the points. You didn't have to wait until august at all.

So uh, sucks that you lost the points, but it was entirely your fault.

Ultimately, my problem is the loss of the points. In what other scenario in Final Fantasy do you lose the ability to spend whatever currency you have accumulated? The items you spend it on may be completely outdated (many signet items, as an easy for instance), but you still have the ability to spend them.

I suppose the only other item that I can recall that has a limit on redemption is the mog bonanza marble. How long have they been spamming log on with those winning numbers and their redemption period?

EDIT: And by the by, I never claimed it wasn't my fault. I'm expressing dissatisfaction at the idea of losing a form of currency arbitrarily.

I'm not arguing about losing points. I already said my only interest was the Chocobo mask. I could care less for junk items. And selling shanks for 100k each means nothing to me.

(Yes I consider them junk items being that I have way too much gear and a fierce inventory crisis to consider everything besides equipment that surpass what I already own as junk)

I just find it disappointing they did not give us a heads up earlier than 2 days before the event ended about the +1 day extension to make up for the emergency maintenance that happened in the early start of the event.

I assumed it was over on the 31st and gave up. And yes I purposely did not claim any prizes with my 19 day login points because I only cared about the mask.

Had I know about the extension I would have been able to get the 20 logins done and gotten a mask.

I mean I was only short 1 login.

It was on the little bar as you hit the play button on the POL launcher, they said it right there when the extension was.

Yes they did. I am voicing my displeasure with that tact, and with the idea that you can "earn" something in the form of "points" or "currency" that can then simply vanish after an arbitrary date.

You've never had to redeem frequent flier miles?

Or used a coupon?

(I'm a little confused...)

I certainly have used coupons and frequent flyer miles from time to time. I'm also not keen on signing up for frequent flyer miles, if the program requires annual fees, or if the points have to be used more quickly than I'm comfortable with. I don't use coupons to buy things that I wouldn't otherwise buy...

My point is that this particular event was entirely too rushed in the redemption of points, especially if you were saving them for the "big item(s)" that were 2000 points each. Inventory is also a huge concern, and it it ALWAYS more convenient to save currency than to be inventory +1 for something that you won't use right away.

In this event, I felt that the redemption period of these points was entirely too short, and I feel that my effort was wasted, precisely for that reason. I'm expressing that to SE in the hopes that in the future they make the redemption period longer, or be much more vocal with announcements in the final days of the event (as they are with the mog bonanza marbles).

Sapphire

Just FYI, if you were saving for the 2000-pt skirmish items, yeah they take up space. The other two 2000+ items are storable.

I'm not trying to be mean, and maybe the cut-off was clearer to me because it was the morning of my birthday, but I knew the end date from the get go, repeated it to my brother and friends, and despite being really tired from a family trip, made sure to zero out the points on four characters on Sunday night before going to sleep.
