View Full Version : ToAU Reaptable Quests Need Adjustments for Fairness

The quests I'm referring to are Scouting the Ashu Talif, Royal Painter Escort, and Targeting the Captain.

These quests are the only way to obtain very important automaton attachments, including the economizer, turbo charger, and optic fiber. These quests require a 3 person minimum, can only be repeated once per earth day, and gives loot that the party must lot/share. Needless to say, these important attachments all sell for a very high price (usually 1.5.-3m on Asura). These limitations were fine when the expansion was initially implemented, but the game has moved in a different direction and I believe this warrants minor adjustments to either (1) the quests' accessibility, or (2) the accessibility of the attachments.

These barriers/limitations of the quests for vital PUP automaton attachments serves to benefit those who own multiple accounts. These quests are easily solo'd by a level 99 job, but you still have to find two other people to engage in these quests, which can be a daunting task since the focus is on new content. PUPs almost always have to buy these attachments off the auction house (when they're available) because the game has moved away from ToAU content. The probability of the attachments dropping plus the likelihood of you rolling the high lot makes it very hard to find other people to participate.

All I ask is that either (1) these quests be adjusted to accommodate those that don't "triple box", or (2) let these attachments be procured from another source. Removing the three person minimum would be ideal. Adjusting the quests to work more like burning circle seal/orb NMs, where each of the three people individually "spends" their daily use of the quest for x3 runs, would also be a reasonable solution.

These quests drop vital and important PUP attachments and they are currently inaccessible to the modern player with one account.

If FFXIAH is correct, these can also now show up as a "Flotasm" item in Mog Gardens.

They can! But the loot table for flotsam appears to be quite massive. I'll be ecstatic if I can get one this way, but honestly would rather have a way I can make an effort to get them.

Anyone serious about PUP needs/wants these attachments. I'll go as far to say they are necessary (in the same way that Utsusemi is "necessary" to NIN, or Phalanx is to PLD) for proper automaton builds. The difference between Ni/Phalanx and these attachments is that the latter is designed in such a way to only be easily accessed by people with multiple accounts. People are willing to do BCNM runs for Ni/Phalanx because of the "your pop, your drops" method. It's unfortunate that these quests uses everyone's "daily" limit and also forces them to share loot. The attachments aren't common drops, so it becomes an incredibly daunting task in an age where people aren't really keen on doing ToAU content.

Oh, I agree- I'm saying that because Flotasm is one thing that anyone with Adoulin is "feeding" items into the AH stream, especially if it becomes well known. Most non-PUPs aren't as aware that those attachments are as prized and rare (prior to this) as they are. Get the word out that they show up in flotasm and that they're wanted, and I get the feeling we'll start to see more of these attachments getting to the AH- with lower prices from better supply, at that.

Same goes for any Assault missions, I'm having a hard time finding people to do them nowadays. So yes, it would be really nice if SE made the Assault missions playable by 1 person only (it's really not enjoyable shouting for a whole hour with no results).
