Sometimes is too hard to try to not to troll, but... lol
Hello everyone.
Have you all been enjoying the Mog Gardens content?
I'd like to introduce content that will be added to this system during the August version update.
...
Gil savings chest
We've prepared the "gil savings chest," which has been asked for.
When talking to it, you can withdraw or deposit gil and check on your balance.
You can either talk to it and input a number or directly trade your gil to the chest.

....
I mean, I really wonder "who" asked for this lol, and also what for. Yes, there is a limit of how much gil a character can carry but really... after chocobo blinkers fiasco and other ways to gather gil I believe there are few ppl that need to have their gil elsewhere.
With all the really important requests all around this forum, JP and NA, I believe some of the developers time is by far wasted.
So what else is next on the agenda ? Moogle credit card ? Moogle pawn shop ? ("Aw man! I need to pawn my NNI gear >.<" lol); "I'm in my second mog house mortgage, dude. If I dun pay I'll have to live in a moogle cardboard box" xD, Moogle ATMs all around the world ? The economy is reaching us people!!! Dun complain if the IRS moogle knocks your door to confiscate your stuff.
This is hilarious imho. lol

I don't recall who, but I've seen people ask for this years ago. They were complaining that they were spending their gil as soon as the AH check came in the mail, so they had nothing left to spend on food and medicines.
I'm guessing it's a joke... they are working on some kind of additional storage though, so it might be a mog garden shed or something.

Shame we can't accrue interest on it...

They also mentioned that something will happen when you accumulate a lot of gil. Probably a trinket, or a title, or something along those lines.
I can't really see any benefit to encouraging your player base to not spend currency, though.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that it's either:
A) a giant storage area with unlimited space
B) a bank that allows for the conversion / storage of the myriad different currencies they have now (Gil, Bayld, Plasm, Allied Notes, Conquest Points, Beastman Seals, Trophies, Domion Notes... the list goes on).

The "gil saving chest" was created as a feature that protects against mistakenly bidding or purchasing an item for too high of a price. For example, if you're going out with the intention to purchase an item that's 300,000 you can withdraw just that amount and have no fear of accidentally purchasing it for 3,000,000.
As for having an interest or reward system for storing your gil, we'd like to avoid scenarios where users would need to gather a large amount of gil in order to make a profit or receive a prize. With that said, there are no plans to implement a rewards/interest system.
Lastly, the "gil savings chest" will only store gil. There are no plans to store other items in here as well.

I imagine that the first day this thing comes out, someone will decide to take out 200,000 to go buy an item, see an item worth 10,000,000 in someones bazaar for 250,000, run back to get more cash and return to find it already sold. They will promptly remove all their cash and never use it again.
Or arrive at the Wildskeeper reive only to discover that they forgot sushi, have no cash and the guy with all the sole sushi in his bazaar isn't willing to front them enough to last for 6 hours or how ever long the battle is.
If this thing can't be accessed in the field it's pretty useless.
There really wasn't any way they could just create a separate bank that you keep on you?

Waste of time idea. Make a chest that you can dump all the items you harvest then sell them all in one fell swoop.

It's such a shame that this game is having to implement features to protect idiots from themselves....

I'd have to agree. I try not to be too overly critical about developments, but if what Okipuit says is true, then this is just dumb and pointless.
Shoot, it's been over a year and a half since the "New UI" bomb was dropped on us, but there hasn't been much said about it since. Stuff like this "Gil Saving" thing just seems like they're running out of ideas for interesting development.

I like the idea... Can I suggest you add an optional lock combo to it? so that way I cans tore my gil in there and in the event of a hack I won't lose my gil? outside of that I like this idea, while I won't use it to store all my gil it's nice to have something I can put my gil in as a rainy day coffer. Just set the gil inside the box and forget about it!

Guys, I think we just found an awesome anti-hack solution here.

That exists already. It's called the Security Token.

Just kind of makes me sad that I'm paying a subscription for these guys to prioritize this rubbish over actual game improvements.
Can't they tell the guy that came up with this idea to stop procrastinating and finish Cait Sith already?!?!?!

Somehow I imagine that no one was supervising the guy in charge of making Cait Sith and when they finally came to ask him for his code so they could implement it he was like:

And yes, I'm bored and I'm looking at meme sites today in case you're wondering.

If the object is to keep people from accidentally bidding all their gil, wouldn't it make more sense to just change the bidding feature so that pressing left a final time doesn't set your bid equal to your max gil? Because really, that's not a feature you'll want to use very often, or even at all.

People don't like the idea of using Mog ATMs as physical LS Banks apparently <_>
I think this is a nice idea. Prevents excess gil from getting lost, serves as a place to store your savings, and perhaps we can put custom locks on them now so that RMT Hackers don't try and take your money. Anything to keep our money safe!

But if no one tells the turkeys that they need to stop looking up with their mouths open in the rain....
we'll just have a bunch of dead turkeys!
...
...
I've always been of the opinion: If you do something stupid once, you'll probably not do that stupid thing again...
unless you're either REALLY dumb... or a scientist...
(stupid science conditioning us to try the same action twice to make sure it will/won't happen again)
EDIT: Y'know... maybe we are all being a bit too cynical... Just a bit.... Maybe this gil box is the alpha test for a Mog Garden item storage chest? I mean... it's not like they'd tell us before it's about to go golden... They certainly didn't for this.
And since Adoulin really isn't completed yet... let's hold out just one more update before we ...
Though I vaguely recall a statement that implies that there are no storage chest plans atm... or maybe that was just about this specific chest...
EDIT2:
Additionally, they are also looking into a new item storage feature, which is separate from your Gobbiebag and Mog Safe and will hold a large amount of items in exchange for not being able to check it constantly while you are out adventuring. As this involves implementing a totally new system, it will take some time to get this ready, but we will first be looking into the Gobbiebag expansion that we can implement somewhat quicker.Aha! So maybe I'm actually on to something and this crappy little chest really IS the alpha model for a new item storage thing!

If you are sober enough to know to put away a bunch of gil into this box you are sober enough not to overbid...
Also the if you get someone to translate the jp post of this or just use google it heavily implies something happens when you store enough gil. But english dev says nothing happens... so which is it?

If you are JP, something happens. If you speak English, nothing happens.

It would be nice if there was something like.. If you had a million gil in the box, it attracted a thief to your mog garden. (A goblin? A leafkin? One of those sunglasses-wearing moogles?)
This could be for a side quest battle of some sort, and if you won, you could have the thief work on your island like the other assistants. Only difference would be, you had to keep at least 10K gil in the chest to keep him/her interested in the island, rather than paying the moogle 10K gil for each week. If you spent the gil in the chest to under 10K then he would leave and it'd take another 1mil gil to lure him/her back.
This way it would not be a profit making item that you win, AND the chest becomes less useless for the average player.

Turns out if you put a decent amount in it (not sure exact amount but it's not more than 10 mil) it turns into a gold box... that's it. Went all the way up to 100 mil and nothing else. Speaking of which 100mil is a dumb cap to put on it when there are items worth more than that and they trying to prevent overbids so yeah people could have that much.
Seriously though this thing is completely useless at best can't believe they actually spent the manpower coming up with this idea and then implementing it when there are plenty of things currently broken with the game let alone all the balance issues currently

Seriously. This is thing is just a giant middle finger in the middle of your garden. It's like they figured that people would just stop doing the things that suck and forget them, so they needed a way to remind people how much they don't care.
