Me and boyfriend recently started playing on the Ragnarok server, and ever since we started I was looking forward to playing a Dancer and he wanted to play a Corsair, so we grinded to level 30 just the two of us, and I was able to get my job but he's having issues.

It seems really difficult to get to White Gate to even start the job quest, and we aren't sure how a new player would pull it off, if there's an easier way? If so I really want to find out how. It's made him pretty sad and I want to be able to cheer him up.

Is there any possible way I can help him get the job he wants? Anyway to teleport there or anything? :(

You will need to obtain the boarding permit to Open sea route to Al Zahbi.
Follow this quest.

Also check out the Strategy Guide I'm working on. It is not complete however I am doing my best to add stuff in whenever I am free. Thanks.

Btw Advanced
You can choose from the following:

Option 1:
One coffer key from a beastman stronghold:
Davoi
Beadeaux
Castle Oztroja
Temple of Uggalepih
Den of Rancor
Quicksand Caves
Sea Serpent Grotto

Option 2: Any testimony item.

Option 3:
3 chips from Pso'Xja:
Carmine Chip
Cyan Chip
Gray Chip

I believe the testimony route is the fastest most easiest way if you have a high level job to farm this item.

Ah... Sadly I don't have a high level job, this is me and his first time ever playing this game. I'll have to pick the beginner one and hopefully find the support job quest items then... Hope I can find them fast enough to surprise him when he gets home. :<

Thank you for the response.

I'm sure you could ask a high level in town by shouting. Maybe a level 99 theif would be best as it will be faster to obtain the drop. In most cases, carrying silent oil and waiting at the entrance to an area such as Beaudeux would be possible for someone to kill the mob and allow you to lot the item at the entrance.

I'm sure someone would be willing to help. Also one good tip is that if Shout does not work, try messaging someone you see passing by in private. Sometimes people don't feel obligated to respond to you if you shout.

Btw if you both were on our server, I'd hook you up with any kind of help :)

Or you could farm all 6 support job items, that would be more tedious -but- more friendly to lower level players.

Thanks for your help guys. Sadly I don't think i'm going to be able to pull this off at the time. I tried getting some help but it seems everyone is busy.

I really hope the 6 support job items don't take to long to farm.

Considering we're on the same server, I can give you a hand when we're both online.

That would be very much appreciated, I don't want to be a bother if you're busy. I'm not on right now but i'll probably get on in a little bit.

About these. http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Magicked_Skull I've never seen these Ghoul enemies in my time of running around the dunes. Are they hidden somewhere on the map?

EDIT: Alright I think I have a gameplan, I hit 30 but my he's still 22 on his white mage, while leveling him up we are going to grind on all the key points and monsters necessary to obtain the drops, and by the time he's 30 he will hopefully have the items he needs.

I just hope the Corsair mission doesn't require combat or he's going to be in a lot of trouble.

Ghouls only appear at night (20:00 - 04:00) in Valkurm Dunes, and they are few and far between. In Gusgen Mines there are plenty of them and they don't depop during the day. Of course when you're low level, aggro can be an issue there.

That's why most people go to the book parties for their skulls

Read my Guide, I included that under Support Job 101 article.

Alright, we are good to go and are going to get started hunting, thanks everyone for the advice and help. The community is a lot nicer here than the other games we played.

Really struggling with the final Bloody Robe, Bogy's are scary even as "easy prey"

youll find most mobs during your early development to lvl 99. they have misleading check text especially mobs of the undead variety and magical and this is mainly due to their powerful spells (mages) or their ability to supress mele damage (undead)

If your bf is a white mage using banish on undead removes the damage suppresion for a short while.

Sounds like you are doing the Subjob quest for Mhaura. Have you been to Gusgen Mines? I don't know how your server is but on ours, most people flock to the mines for exp killing skeleton and ghouls. Which makes it easy for those doing subjob quest for Selbina being that Magick Skull drops off Ghouls.

So if he uses, Banish then Cure 3 will that hurt the ghosts a ton?

Undead
Lowers special defense (damage resistance) of Skeletons and Ghosts by 50% for 15 seconds.
Spell damage vs undead is multiplied by 1.5 (150% damage)

if the wiki is still correct.

*sigh* now I have to raise his Jueno reputation to 3... I didn't know that was another requirement to finish this quest. x.x

Finished it finally, as my bf just said "I want to slap those sunglasses off his stupid face for all that he made us go through" xP.

Seriously, to become a pirate, one must deliver over 60 stacks of cabbage apparently to gain reputation. What an excited adventure xP

I hear ya, but stick with it if you're enjoying the overall game :)

You always have to think about prerequisites in FFXI, but it does get a lot easier to get around later on. Also once your fame is high enough you'll never have to worry about it again. (I just hope you don't want to play nin...)
