View Full Version : The Fate of Campaign?

I'm curious as to whether or not the players will ever get the opportunity to engage in the campaign ops Fiat Lux ever again due to the obvious state of the campaign map. I'm positive people would welcome this, I mean it'd be helpful for those who -want- to try and get that armor and not worry constantly about which factions own which areas, because right now the Fiat Lux op is just impossible to achieve now. If it came down to it, the highest campaign rank possible would be best, plus a fee of allied notes being used up during each run. Maybe 1 run per real life day too?

I hope so! I always enjoyed Campaign it was alot of fun when it was first introduced!
Someone else on the forum (sorry your name escapes me!) suggested having a universal currency for all event types that can be used to buy equipment. This way you could do campaign if you wanted, but still work towards gear you earn with plasma for example.
This way people would hopefully do events they find fun, opposed to what is mandatory to get the best gear.

They could call the new points "Merit Points" and you could use them to purchase enhancements for your jobs that would keep their value even when every monthly update brought new "Merit" categories. They could be available to all players. Not just the people who had 18 extremely dedicated buddies that all work the same schedule and speak the same language. It would be glorious...
Ahh but that was not possible. Matsui only had two options. Raise the level cap or make an incredibly convoluted system of gear levels that makes the entire game seem pointless. Those were the only two options. No other viable option existed because there was no other system in existence that could allow players to grow.
And players HAD to grow. There was no way they could continue the game without that. I mean, no game could survive for years on end by releasing new expansions, missions, quests, dungeons etc. without raising the level cap. That's just impossible.

I was going to try and reply with something as equally witty and hilarious, but then I just sighed and thought "When did this game become such a chore?"

The day you started, you just still had "Rose-colored Glasses" Equipped. (we all did)

But what I mean is: People wanting to do campaign ops in say the Throne Room, but the allied forces need to control regions X Y and Z, and then home nation has to control X Y and Z as well. Basically anyone wanting to do said campaign ops (Like the one that yields the Nocturne stuff) is up the creek without a paddle since no one ever does campaign anymore. Can we please have an itinerary in terms of a possible solution to this?

Carbuncle has only ever, at any point met the conditions for Fiat Lux 3 times. At which point I was gone at 3 separate times.
It's a pipe dream, and literally the rarest gear in the game. More people have the new items that drop from new Naakuals than Nocturnus pieces.
Updating campaign would be a nice addition, but there are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many more things that are far more pressing.
One could only wish for a complete overhaul of the entire game after seeing what's going on now.
Seriously, the only thing keeping me active right now, is the promise of the 30 free pops for behemoth, and a < 1% chance of getting a shank for a Dring.

I'd enjoy a campaign update or, in the spirit of the recent Salvage event, the repeat login event, and even the upcoming Abyssea event, some event that either gave a reason to go back to campaign or gave us access anyway.
Campaigning towards Fiat Lux, as in all things these days, is not something you and a few friends can focus-do. Funny because it's not that the mobs can even kill you, but because a few people don't make an impact.
I have no fear that they'd ever merge currencies and that's good, because I sincerely hope they do not.

First of all, they should complete unlock any content that currently requires the participation of the entire server to unlock it. This may have made sense once, but it is complete crap now.
If the devs build an event and either the events or the rewards are so crappy that no one will do it unless they are forced to do it in order to gain access to something not crappy, then they have built a crappy event. They should fix the event itself. Not use it as a cockblock to something people actually want to do.

I think that Fiat Lux (I think that's the right term) should be available to anyone who has the highest medal achievable. This would make it still hard, but possible. Also maybe it costs allied notes to go in?

Completely agree with that.
50 or 100k entry would be a fair fee, for now anyway.
Yeah except who earns Allied Notes anymore? I've had the nearly the same amount of allied notes since campaign went the farm upstate to live with Balista and Garrison.

tbh i do !
always if i come back to the Game i'm geting bastok out of the shit and keep the Quadavs far away from Bastok there was a time where i could even manage to get few Northland areas taken (short version) even Fiat Lux is still possible if you care enough about it and 2-3 friends with decent equip

Make the NPCs stronger, or allow players to do proper assaults on enemy zones. At lvl99, wouldn't take too much coordination for an ally's worth of people to take over an entire region for one nation, just to be able to take over the northlands the next tally for Fiat access.
Also still waiting on them to make the Campaign WS unlockable for use on any weapon, as well as adding more of the unique ones only NPCs have.

They shouldn't have to stupidly give us free-access either. There are a lot of players, right now, that feel like "Why bother with campaigning when I can't possibly make the difference?", since several players/small groups have tried.
However, if access were guaranteed, so long as you farmed the notes, then the individual effort is simultaneously required, and rewarded.
TL;DR: If SE went to this model, people would campaign to get the points to get the gear.

I liked Campaign, solod there a lot on PUP. Got a ton of allied notes, worth bog all now. I kept them instead of trading them for campaign items... a bit like abyssea... oh yeah! The Aby items you could sell with cruor for gil, oh I missed that boat, got 4 million cruor worth about 1 million gil (or merc'd but I dont' bother with Shinryu). Next stop? Get a million bayld, kill the equivalent to Shinryu, merc it, that's your gil fountain.

The problem however is that it'll never happen because the current devs have bigger fish to fry.

I never got the chance to do any of the beastman stronghold campaign ops either, I wish they would make these possible again.

Anjou,
You should change the title of the thread to something about Fiat Lux.
Such an imagined update shouldn't exclusively cater to Fiat Lux, but it's the part most players are interested in.
You might edit the OP too.

All they would have to do to revitalize campaign again would be to allow skill ups again. Skilling up in campaign would be much preferred to skilling up in the tree or on worms. It may not bring hordes of ppl but it would more than now.

I'm all for skillups in campaign, but that wouldn't solve this. It would help, but it wouldn't be a huge factor.
Campaign mobs are only level 70 (the fodder) or 80. Like besieged, there will be a gross difference between the cap and where skill caps at.
No, they need to address this directly, if they want to.

People who would want to do Fiat Lux would earn allied notes. They're incredibly easy to get now, with 4500 notes earned for a full credit campaign evaluation.

yarrr and with a bit campaign understanding you can easy do it twice each Nation attack or maybe 3 times just keep get 1 beastmen unit and 1 friendly unit busy far away from the Fortification and toss few Curing waltz if needed to the NPC and you can even win the battle in time ! time up should be about 50-60ish minutes

btw Fortification 150/150 Forti means you have to kill 15 Enemy Units til 141/150
140/150 means 14 and 131 ar still 14 @130 you have to kill just 13 deepends on the Nation strategie you can easy break a zone and keep the Forti below 30
keep going guys Campaign ftw!
( BTW i'm planing to do Fiat Lux soon on Leviathan anyone who want to team up send me a /tell in game )

They should do the same thing for reives too.
The solution is you organize like minded people who want to unlock it to do campaign in those zones. That's how it was unlocked in the first place.

The problem with this Zumi, is that with campaign, it's an ever changing thing. You can't just steam roll through 1 zone at a time, otherwise you'll have the beastmen trying to take areas while you're busy.

The way this is unlocked and has been in the past it in the last 3-6 hours before a tally a large group of people campaign hard in the zones that need to be taken. Usually this was done by a group of JP players because the time lined up good for them to do it. Only problem is they aren't willing to do this anymore due to the fact that most of that gear is obsoleted with new stuff.
