View Full Version : Losing Faith in you DEV TEAM.

It's going to be brought up sooner or later anyways.
Dev Team, while I have respect for the job you do. Patience has been a thing I've been good at. I mean hey, playing since day 1 and I'm still here right? Well, I'm confused right now. Maybe my faith has been slowly deteriorating due to the direction you are taking all of us.
Details?
It seems the game is constantly being thrown out of balance and although we have been trying to kindly let you know about our concerns. Our problems in my opinion, have not been addressed properly.
How?
We have given you our feedback on things such as Inventory Space, REM, Balance of power ruined by content made easier than previous content such as Delve making all other weapons in game put out of shame.
We have given you our share of concerns over Job related issues such as Red Mage Spells, Beastmaster, Pup, Summoner, and other jobs.
Limitations such as Merit Points, Moogle Slips not being able to store augments.
Auction House cluttered with gear no one sells anymore. Abjurations that have no value even with Augments Vs other content.
Notorious Monsters, VNM, Mythic Quest Bosses, Voidwatch. Unfair drop rates, time spawns, people required to participate.
We have stated issues about finding parties for events in older content.
Entrance limited to areas that are solable yet problematic due to requirements that are unecessary such as 3 people needed to enter in NNI, Salvage, Assault.
Areas like Legion requiring too many people being hard to find.
Conclusion
It's hard to keep faith in you DEV TEAM. You are showing us things through updates that our bigger more important concerns are not being properly addressed.
Adding new content, items, Monsters, features, Areas, rather than Fix the content you already have only leads to more problems for all of us. Including you.
Trying to stay positive and patient out of respect for you but I personally am starting to lose faith from seeing each update go by without seeing proper fixes be made for several things I've read others comment on.

I've lost count on how many times I've taken merit points off weaponskills, combat skills, magic skills, Job class related abilities such as Redmage Spell Dia III, Phalanx II, Blind II, Bio III, Scholar, Whitemage, Blackmage , Beastmaster, Theif, Bard and other jobs only to Re Merit them all over again out of boredom... Lack of Merit Points...

I think the biggest issue is that clearly, Matsui doesn't understand this game at all. We're built on a 10-year history of long, slow item collection. Item collection, mind you, where the newest items don't completely trump the oldest items. The new dev team have taken us so far in the opposite direction from that, its not even on par with the pace of MMORPGs that have always followed this model.
I cannot stress this enough:
WE DO NOT WANT CONTENT THAT CONSTANTLY MAKES OLDER CONTENT IRRELEVANT. THAT IS NOT FUN.
You (the developoers) seem to think that modeling the content this way will inspire us to keep playing, but in reality, it makes us wonder what the point is. My endgame linkshell has just now begun to approach the point where we can kill Delve NMs with enough time to attempt bosses. Now, there's not really any point to any of that. The blinding pace you've set only serves to make most of the content you're currently developing flicker past the majority of the player base, because no one, NO ONE, will do an intermediate step if they don't have to.
I'm sick to death of this new direction. I'm sick of having no motivation to work on gear I know will be outclassed in a single patch. I'm sick of all my former work rotting away in my inventory, completely useless. If I wanted to play a game with such gear progression, I would have been playing it all along. Tacking it onto a game like FFXI this late in its lifespan is an insult to your playerbase.

Many of us old school players are here based on RPG games in the past. What is an RPG? This is not an action RPG game like Diablo that gives you an instant quick rush of excitement where you can can enjoy a quick 1 hour and be rewarded instantly on quick kills. Grind and Zerg..
To us we play RPG games because they were more in depth with story line. You didn't progress and beat the game quickly like back in the days of the old Nintendo era. Some of us wanted to play a game that lasted longer and had more meaning to it.
The way I see the new devolvement team is that somewhere along the line they do not see and understand what kind of players they are dealing with and why we came here.
Items that took time to earn, people we spend time with helping each other had more meaning before than now where we just group up and get it done together fastest way possible. This is exactly how fast movement games are today like WoW and Diablo.
Your level achievements, gear you earned, rares you found... This was our reward. Our effort. Our accomplishment. Reaching a goal and completing it was a win with more meaning.
Honestly if I wanted to grind all day for items that won't last, I'd be there playing Action RPG games and not here.

i have to say there is a case for the new equipment, when all previous events were released these forums were full of people complaining the rewards were not good enough for the work involved, so they increase the rewards for these new events and now people saying wtf these items are too powerful.
I'm afraid for the dev's its damed if you do and damed if you don't.
Perhaps take a look at the level they are putting on the new best gear, its level 120, thats them saying we are increasing the level to 120 for now without showing it on screen, compare your level 79 gear to your level 99 gear and apart from a few weapons these increases in armor power does not appear too mad at all.

In my opinion powerful is not the main issue. It's the fact that its quite effortless compared to the rest of the items we so spent a good portion of our time earning.
It's one thing to add items that blend in with the rest of the gear as a whole, it's another to make items that put all other things out of its place.

Apparently not...
In order to indicate difficulty for Adoulin content in a way that is displayed in an objective fashion, we have established content levels.
The below is a chart representation of this:

i understand where your coming from but there are allot of negative posts about at the moment and i don't believe their all justified. Allot of us have been playing 10 years, in that time we have seen jobs and equipment rise and fall, i for one am prepared to give them more time to see where they are going with all this.

I agree with you. I'm just wondering why are they even adding new items, new monsters, new areas? I know too many people having inventory issues so that doesn't help us at all.
How many mules do we need?
I know I'm not thinking positive right now but July & August shimmers no light in the path the Dev team is taking action.

I know I'm not thinking positive right now but July & August shimmers no light in the path the Dev team is taking action.
I am right there with you. Seeing all this new gear getting put in has me really disinterested. Instead of implementing or even addressing what was promised to us months, if not a year ago; they go and do something like this. This game used to speak of balance in the words of the Devs, but that seems to have been tossed right out the window with implementations of new weapons that outclass everything way too quickly. And lets not forget certain jobs losing their way. Like RDM; what exactly is a RDM good for now days? Blinding the T3 pieste and what else?
Also, because I have not seen a clear answer and don't give me the census bs; why exactly wasn't SoA released for PS2 in the US? I know PS2 discs are not made stateside anymore, but that doesn't stop you from making it a downloadable thing like you had done with the add-ons. I know a few people who still play on the PS2 due to that they either can't upgrade to PC or don't have a 360. By not releasing it you are alienating a portion of your players and keeping them from being able to do the new content you are so willingly to provide instead of fixing the current ones they can do.
Dev Team, you need to really take a moment and LISTEN to us. Go through our threads, quote us and answer our concerns. I don't care if it takes you months to do so, at least at that point we know you're listening and actually care about your fans/customers.

Don't fault them completely on the storage slip thing--
It is a system limitation that makes augmentations hard to store.. However, they should be able to let us store base items and fully augmented items (one for each path).
To ask them to let us store a Rank 7 Path C armor though is asking too much though.

Yeah but what about a storage slip for Adoulin / Delve equipment? I already know about the PS2 holding us back on 80 spaces per inventory. It's just I'm up to the point where my main inventory is packed. Unless I sacrifice food, meds. The rest is gear for my sets.

I am not positive about nuking, but I am fairly sure with the update that the 24INT with the Magic Damage should put it above Nares, which so far as I know was the best till now. All in all, this piece saved me a ton of space, the Hands did the same for me as well.

INCOMING DEAD HORSES!!! WOW, LOOK AT THOSE THINGS BEING CARTED OUT AGAIN!!!
They do have the option of dropping PS2 support, which would fix a lot of ridiculous technical issues holding the game back (but won't do anything for current era design choices!). However, they haven't done that. We can certainly blame them for not doing it years ago before ToAU came out and people started having issues with their PS2s freezing during content. It should have been a sign, but here we are, 7 years later. It's alive and well, at least for the Japanese playerbase.
Imagine how much easier it would be to handle the spag-- programming code if they didn't have to make it work on the overburdened PS2?
Augments and storage slips? They already switched horses midstream on that with the Relic +2 augments. We went from the standard being only non-augmented items could be stored to only augmented items could be stored. As you said, there's no reason they can't allow people to store Rank 15 items.

Yeah they should be able to store Rank 15 items because all augments are fixed. Where as augmented Sky gear would have random stats from all players.
You are right, +2 Relic with Augments proves that it can be done.

Wow lol, calm down.
In the case of bayld gear, both aug'd and non-aug'd versions should be storeable, however the cost of augmenting bayld gear is not so far that it would be bad if it required augmenting to store.
In the case of plasm gear, both base and fully augmentable should be storable, but let's face facts, they're not dropping PS2 support for their JP players, and not every limitation in game is because of the PS2. They don't need to allow us to store someones C Rank, Rank 7 gear, that's harder than you think.

Nowadays there are gear up on AH that is par with the delve weapons if you can cough up the dough. Seeing the R/E/M weapons being kicked in the scrotum by AH weapons is....there are no words...horrible... what are you thinking.
Relic weapons were no walk in the park back in the day (for some of us, still isn't) and i can feel the same for alot of equipment from before. Over the corse of one day, your previous gear and/or weapons becomes outdated by easy-to-get AH equalents. The most frustrated aspect of this is the time spent getting all those "hard-to-get" gear pieces. Gear you were proud of having and using.
Im working for a kenkonken right now for my pup. I know it's shit nowadays compared to delve weapons. One of the few reasons I still play today is because I set up this personal goal for myself. I need this goal for motivation to keep playing.
Personally, when/if I reach my goal and get my kenkonken, i will take pride in owning it because it took alot of time to get. Long hours in salvage and einherjar. And when I have reached my goal with kenkonken, I don't want to be seen in any easy-to-get, peanut butter, fish stick, leek, onion, cod piece of delve weapon.
I promise you.
Devs, I have my eyes on you...

Or they could have just created separate items for each upgrade like they did with relics so that there were no augments to erase. Or, in the case of the bayld gear, just remove the augments entirely and up the base stats. They are fixed stats after all. Why not just increase the price 1,000 bayld per piece, increase the base stats, remove the augments entirely and call it a day?
I would trade this entire expansion for a real storage system personally.
Ok I just finished the SoA missions last night about 4 hours of running around talking to NPCs getting cutscenes. Now then I remember there use to be fights and stuff you did in story line missions. You can get through the SoA missions so far without a single fight.
Is it me or are putting some kind of boss fights or field NM fights in the SoA missions not in their budget or what.
Getting dissapointed in stuff like this. Now then play the FFXIV beta you have a lot of action in the main quest line, lots of boss type encounters and mobs to kill which some aren't all that easy and require some strategy to beat.

Well, the last expansion had lots of fighting in the missions and according to the last census, less than 10% of players finished it. I'm guessing that they realized that they either needed to add an OMG good piece of gear as a reward or make the missions super easy if they wanted anyone to do a bunch of difficult fights. They probably decided that if they left out both the fights and the rewards, they could spend the time they saved breaking other things.

now you have to decide what to do with all the old gear? do you just toss it?Nope, thankfully I only had Nares from that list, I never got a Salvage group, don't use CDC right now so Maat's was never a priority, and have not killed the Boss for the Hat. I simply kicked 3 things off my todo list and made 3 more spots in my inventory once my RDM is finished, which was at 140 pieces of gear last I checked, though it needs updated now. If I had them, yeah, I would drop them, I doubt they will be updated, so no point in keeping them, except the ones that can be stored like Nares & Morrigan's which will be stored.

I'm sure the reason why people didn't finish it was the huge delay between the release of the new missions so people just stopped to care about it. Who wants to waste their time doing 3-4 CSs and 1 BCNM every 6 months? At the end you couldn't even remember the story you started.
PS: Great idea to put once again a Reive in front of the locus needed for a cut scene.

I also like that some of the missions can't be started until you have done X number of assignments using random numbers of impratures. That way people can't even start them for like 3 weeks after they get the expansion...

what if you guys can view this as some sort of achievement challenges?
I mean, I still want to do relic just for the sake of it. ^^

I am of the belief that performance enhancing gear should be relatively easy to obtain and that people who claim the most HNMs, Rape more monsters, Climb more floors, clear more dungeons in less time, etc. should be rewarded with things that give them gear that is more attractive in appearance only, Warps that others can't get, better storage options, Cheaper prices from NPCs, Free RR and warp scrolls.
You know, rewards that don't cause other players to be excluded from content.
