Along Final Fantasy XI's long time over the ages adventurers had the opportunity to participate in some truly memorable battles that were awe striking to most and astounding to those who knew the depths of the game's lore. One such battles was the Ark Angel's Divine Might battle. This battle consisted of challenging foes whose only lines in the game brought forth the deeper meaning surrounding much of the world's conflicts such as the tarutaru's wars and acts of destruction from personal fear or the elvaan's arrogance that brought them so low before. Although now players face even stronger foes, I for one cannot find any real attachment to the battle itself. The Naakuals don't inspire me to see them as anything more than a stepping stone towards more stuff. Yes there is some game lore but they lack characterization to make them really memorable. Simply there is no build up aside desiring loot.

I realize there is a massive difference between story bosses and endgame content but in the past those bosses had some characterization to go with their associated mythos. A great example of this is Sky and Sea. These bosses were memorable not for their difficulty but for what their names and design associated them with. The Naakuals are SE's attempt to bring in new ones but simply put aside the bilingual bonus there is nothing that really makes these bosses any more than just powerful creatures. As a person who is a diehard for the game's lore I am fairly disheartened to find that everything beyond the Neo-content has lacked such characterization.

With the upcoming update involving many story missions chances are you've already began laying the foundations for this but in the chance you haven't I'd like to make an appeal to have this sort of consideration for future bosses.
