Ok so SOA comes out great something new to do. New gear, weapons, and area's bosses fun fun. To continue growth in the game. Two months into the expansion and well it has somewhat died not to mention SE really dropped the ball on including all jobs to play in the new content good thinking there SE NOT.
Now to my rant and problems I see. When the expansion first came out everyone and their brother went out there with any decent weapon and gear set they had and had to figure out how to work the reives and bosses in the new area's which was cool oh and might I add it wasn't D/R/E/M required although it helped. First we went exploring then attacked the reives then came the bosses in each zone and we still didn't have a delve weapon in most cases and the on to the fractures with still no delve weapon.
Now day in and day out you see people in Nations sitting there screaming "THERE'S NOTHING TO DO" but you have a person in Jueno yelling for help for 4hrs needing help with a LB 10 fight to be ignored or "PLASM RUN D/R/E/M REQUIRED" or my favorite "YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIS AREA YOU DONT HAVE A DELVE WEAPON" now dont get me wrong here yes I know you need these weapons to do some of this stuff and I have both. But WTH people, think about this for a minute. We have people that have come back that were vets in the game before the SOA release or we have new players coming on that cant seem to get help with anything. And something I hear alot of is oh i can solo that well maybe they cant quit braggin and go help them alot of new players don't have 300k -500k to go hire someone to go kill an nm they need grr. Have we become to gil straved to still help out players get to where they need to get? Or is it we are too wrapped up in our own personal growth to help anyone else maybe we should all ask ourselves that question.
So heres what seems to happen with these people that have come back or new. One they leave the game because well they cant get anywhere because players now that have done alot of the SOA content refuse to help them get to where they need to be and well we don't grow in the FFXI world. Or two these new and return players are pushed into the mines to lvl to 30 then speed lvl their jobs in abby to 99 not knowing how the hell to do their jobs, just so they can come to the new content to have something to do and then get cussed at or be-littled cause their skills arent where they are supose to be. Or, they don't know their jobs because of the help of the RMT's and players we kinda put these people in that situation. Its not like the old days where you go with a party to lvl and learn your jobs which brings up another issue that SE and players as well have made this problem there is no place to lvl jobs anymore I really feel for those that have had to start over or just coming in to the game. Theres no way in hell I would play this if that was the case. Maybe SE is trying to end the game. Because without growth it eventually leads to death of the game. As it would with any business in RL.
Another problem I see with linkshells is far to often you will have so many memebers on not doing anything that have got what they wanted and wont spend the time to help other ls memebers out that need it. UMMM, how did you get your stuff? You solo everything in the game by yourself with no help at all, well arent you the chosen one. OH wait you triple boxed it thats it.
But to end this if our vet players or IE elites of the ffxi world refuse to help other player (Im not saying this about all. But, in most cases alot). These new or returning players really dont stand a chance. If SE does not give these players a chance to lvl as well this game is going to end up dead and the only people still left will have nothing to do. Now this will probably piss off some people that will b/list me or not invite me to events anymore which is fine that would just go to show I am right.
Now I will say this Ultimas posted some helpful ways to progress in the game which I ran across the other day which was cool and there are players that do help others on the game so Im not saying everyone. But quit your complaining about how boring it is there are still alot of players out there that do need help you just refuse to do it or you want to charge them to help. What kind of bs is that anyhow. Oh In case you forgot this game was built to help one another and build gaming friendships and helping one another to become better players or has this concept been forgotten? Maybe SE has dropped the ball on making new and exciting things a bit but players of the game have to take some blame in this too.
SE dropped the ball, and the players all faceplanted on the court simultaneously. Most of the players that know this have already stopped caring and/or playing.
The gap is too huge to bridge at this point, without there being a way to at least slowly catch yourself up without spending months and months grinding out gear/RMEweapons just to partake in another grinding session. I see no reason why any sane person would want to do it anymore at this point. When many people heard FFXI was going to go into a pure gear-level based concept before SoA came out, they probably should have quit then.

Hey Mystified just wanted add on to your points.
Problem I see is that many people have either forgotten what an RPG game is or shifted somehow toward expecting this game to be instant quickplay grind and get items and be done type.
Also in my opinion, before SoA was released, everyone on the server set Homepoint for Jeuno, so it was a smaller world where it was easier to respond to lower levels asking for help. Or some players have been very busy focusing on them now trying to get their stuff done in Delve. Yes people are that lazy to use a waypoint and go back to Jeuno.
Lack of guides and expert advice falls into a good reason. The servers are like classrooms filled with kids that have no teachers no principles.
That's why you see selfish, self gain, or as some people call it "douchebags" no respect or common courtesy in several situations.
Then there are those who are single minded refusing to do anything else because the one thing they are desperate in doing they can't do therefore decides giving up and rage quitting because they lack skills (No I don't mean gaming skills)
Have we really forgotten our morales? Our social skills? Most of the time I encounter negative people that only know how to say I Can't, I Won't, I Refuse. Then there's Trolls who has nothing else better to do than make others miserable and put people down especially those in town trying to do positive things for others.
Too many people in this game sitting around "waiting" for things to happen instead of "making" things happen. And decide that because no one is going to do it for them they think complaining about it is the best solution rather than go out and explore the game.
There is way more out there that people can do and in fact need to do in order to participate in Delve T5 boss fights people don't even realize. You need those Relic gears upgraded. You need Augmented gears with best stats. You need gears from Salvage, NNi.
But the few who don't know this has already sent out an idea into the ffxi social world where others start to agree and feed off that negativity and then eventually people lose hope, motivation and interest and to many who clearly sees past all of it are sitting here wondering why are peopling choosing to make such a huge deal when there is no reason to begin with?
If people would read the guide I've been writing carefully, they would learn to see things at a different point of view..
To those who think Delve weapons is the only thing that matters.
You don't need Delve weapons to get Delve weapons. We didn't even have those and got them. And I'm pretty sure if you make a boss party to get kis, people with Delve weapons would most likely join to help out in killing bosses.
The biggest point that people are missing is that they think they can do delve in only AF Gear and Skip the part on getting Adoulin Gear.
Think about this Seekers of Adoulin is High Level Content no? Then wouldn't common sense tell you that the gear in Adoulin is made to match the level of that content?
And this is what I see many people trying to skip this expecting that they deserve to rock out Delve only to find out they are being refused for not being properly ready.

Daemon, what you said is correct and thats why i have been sending people to your post. I do have most of the delve gear and weapons and some of the mega bosses done (god I need more storage though lol) and yes the devle stuff is nice but you also need other gears as you stated R/E/M, augment, nni, salvage, vw, abby, and etc . All im trying to get across is those that per-say dont have the older content stuff yet are having a hard time getting it cause those of us that have already got aren't helping. Now dont get me wrong im not much for those that want to leech off other players or have someone do it for them with no effort on their part yeah at that point ummm they can stay where they are and I dont feel bad for them one bit. But those trying at least deserve a chance as well the rest of us did in the past.

Yeah I know. I totally agree with your first post. I just added some other points on top of yours.
Sadly when I came back last year I duod with a thief or ninja for all of my seals and then had no choice but to level bst to 99, make magian PDT axes and buy pet PDT gears, complete ducal guard atma quest and then solo +2s.

I see the same thing on my server but with almost all delve runs they demand that all whitemages have Arise, All bards have Empy harp, all DD's have delve weapons. I have been booted from parties on my bard cause i don't have a empy harp yet i have capped skills (no spamming required i acutally played the job back in 75 days) I have gotten into arguments with people when i tell them i can give them anysong with a +4 buff on it but they would rather have a bard with just the empy harp over me. This game is becoming to dependent on what gear you have and not how good you are at the job which is rather sad these days.
Also if i am waiting for something to do i watch shouts and if i don't see anything to do and a "help me please" shout comes up, i'm geared and willing to go help. I must have done the LB10 fight about 30 times now.
As the gap between players expand its no wonder more people are quitting the game since you have to have the best to get something done but its the whole thing what came first the delve weapon or the delve weapon NM?
Also anyone on Asura if you need anyhelp with mission fights or level breaks look me up, most the time i can help if i'm in jeuno.

This is so sad to me. I have had several friends they were booted but they weren't told why and had to bug the leader to tell them why. This is wrong but SE set it up like this and it's bringing out the ugly character in people. Everyone needs a chance to do all these Seekers events. I haven't did any of them because now after I have seen how they are doing people I don't even try to get in and only one person has asked me if I want to do them.
Hooray for you for being a person who helps! To me the definition of Elite is "I forgot where I came from". Funny thing is when abby was added all these people who rush to get everything first will get what they want then have nothing to do and quit. They did it with abby and they will do it with Seekers. The fun in the game is what is between the time you start the game and the end. Only special caring people look back to see who they can help to get them where they are. I happen to be one of those people. I have got on a mule and went to Ron and started leveling and watched to see who I run into that needs help. I have spent many months everday just helping one person til I can get them in a worm party in abby or take them to join campaign. I tell them I am here when you get to the limit breaks and anything else you need. I also make sure they aren't lacking in gear and gil. I have a heart for new people and as in real life I don't forget where I came from and how i struggled and that was before FoV and campaign. One thing I ask people I help is please look around and see who you can help. I have had people tell me things I did for them and I have helped so many people I can't ever remember. Thank you for being one who cares in this game.

Thanks powder I know Ultamis have played with him from time to time. I think i have had you in a few parties i was in recently as well.
Radd as far as the R/E/M weapons they are still useful I believe as far as some stats go with others so i still feel they are worth doing on alot of jobs I know it takes time to do but it still can be done. I'm current working on 3 myself when I dont have anything going on. However, in that respect though people can still get weapons from the pioneers col. to help with the rieves and players now can make a fake empy weapons to help them move along quicker in the game if they dont want to spend the time to make a real one. With the grinding part its all part of the game i think no matter what content your working on. I mean look at the time it takes to do fracture runs or reives for plasm or balyds theres really no difference. All i was trying to point out with the speed lvling of a job is a player should take time to cap their skills and learn what their abilities or spells do before jumping into a major event if they dont do this it not only affect the other players but them as well. There are enough new people on our server right now that hopefully read what ultimas has written down as a guide and can team up with others that are new. I would make life so much easier on them as well.
My ls is currently filled atm with returning and new players I use to have alot of vets on my ls but they switched recently to join a strickly Devle ls which is something I never planned to do with my shell and that is fine with me if thats something they want to do. I like keeping the game as a game and not job so to speak. Powder if you are looking for a shell btw mine is always open to anyone vet or not idc. Everyone on my shell is pretty nice and likes to help eachother out if they are not busy with something. All that is asked is you help out when u can and not be its all about me from what i have seen of you your not that way im just saying i tell everyone that.
Too those of you that sent me tells yesterday bashing my first post you know who are. I more or less ignored you but just an fyi your the reason this game suffers the way it does and i really dont care what you think about me now. You can (think about it) you talked enough trash anyhow i think you can figure it out.

Thank you Onemyst. Yes we did reives together recently. I am in a ls with a few old players I knew years ago that came back during Abyssea. I am not playing much these days. I used to live on this game from the time I got up til the wee hours of the morning, sometimes I would log out 24 hours from the time I logged in but not anymore. Sometimes I don't log in at all. I do a reive or two, check my mule and log. I used to do walk of echoes every morning but that is ruined and lot of rmt who I reported. /sigh they are still there and even invite us to party lmao. I don't know what I am going to do at this point but I appreciate your offer and will see you in game when I am on.
Ultimas <3 has really stepped out to help.

one very viable way to help (since all the content people are really interested in is at 99), take a smaller group, and help these new guys pound out some reives or into skirmish. Yes, I know delve is what we WANT, tough shit, until they can fill a role-at least moderately-the catch-up people are going to be a liability. But the Bayald gear and/or skirmish gear is strong enough (in plain DPS they pass most R/M/E out of the box) for them to contribute moderately in delve parties and they should have their delve weapon pretty quick. The exception is brd since their only stuff is relic and empy, but not too many of these catch-up guys are going brd that I see, they choose DD because it's cheaper to level than any of the casters (no spells, and if you don't have to bother with a good set untill 99 you bypass alot). another thing, take them to GoV against the level 100+ stuff-you guessed it, skill-ups, + a little gil as well
Can I join too? lol >.> Mostly homeless returning player here xD
