It's June 25th... 5 days left in the month. Are we going to get a version update any time soon? I'm going to XIV in August, but I would really like something to do until then. Honestly, if the update is planned for late July, I'm just going to let my subscription lapse and play XIV phase 4 until it goes live.

Every day I refresh PoL website once hoping for some sliver of information regarding this update (which from what I've read holds promise to breathe a little life into the game) and always nothing.

No one really cares if you're going to discontinue 'Click and Buy' it sucked anyways.

Basically, I'm interested in the update. It will provide stuff to do until XIV comes out, but July is too late.

*Edit*

Or at least one of the Devs take me out to dinner and a movie? I like to be treated nicely before I get &%*$ed. Just no kissing on the mouth, please. I have standards.

I think the best is yet to come. When they fixed there square member stuff to a more streamline system. Since in the coming months there going to be getting alot of there fans to play ff14.

Upcoming Version Updates (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/34837-Upcoming-Version-Update-Announcement)

So is that a no?

Phase 4 open beta will be out, and we'll be ready to transition into XIV by the end of July.

Good bye.

"throwing items for summoner"
SE said grips for smn before, is this a mistake?

Splitting the update isn't a problem...but delaying the artifact equipment? The new jobs are part of what keeps me interested and yet another delay on the artifact armor is just a slap in the face. I hope they plan to buff the armor a bit since it'll be coming in AFTER a bunch of better stuff.

"Hey guys, we're working hard to push the AF as fast as possible on the next update!"

"Jk, it's been pushed back, good bye."

They just posted stuff for a July and August update. I didn't see anything too spectacular new missions could be fun but that will take a day or two at the most.

Honestly I think FFXIV might be a better choice now, cheaper too if you have Legacy only 9.99 a month for 40 characters.

I've officially given up on FFXI. After years of disappointment with everything from enmity problems to bugs to the final nail in the coffin that is the R/M/E bs (as well as the terrible disappointment that is SoA), I'm convinced they don't want us to play any more. It's probably just due to the fact that they don't know how to run both games at once. I really loved FFXI, it sucks to end on such a bitter note.

It's likely a case of stockholm syndrome that i'm experiencing, and terribly sad at that, but the only reason I have my FFXI subscription active is because of the bonanza. And i'm sure that's exactly why they ran a second one so soon the the previous. After losing every single bonanza they ever ran, I expect to toss my marbles, and end my subscription as soon as they announce the winning numbers

It's a terrible way to end FFXI, for a game so dear to me I wish it ended on a better note. Like many others, I'll play phase 4 beta until FFXIV launch, and if it fails - I probably won't invest my time in any more SE products.

+1 One disappointed customer :(

Time to make an appointment with Matsui, I happen to be in Tokyo in July as it is.

And I'm also curious as to how the Japanese players are responding to the "not news at all"

1371 on Asura - which actually is rather low for this server.

Well, I'm assuming most of the people haven't seen the news.
I know that I cancelled my subscription, it ends on Jul 16th.
Took me way too long to do this... all my friends quit a long time ago, I still had some hope.

I was a fool to think that they actually had any intention of updating RME, by the time they do it they will be outdated. I don't know how much net profit SE makes per an account... but it must not be much because they sure don't seem to be allocating resources to the things that people are quitting over.

986 people online on Valefor. I mean maybe we're being too picky. According to the update information, we can now invite people regardless of Regional location! Such a groundbreaking fix for the major issues currently plaguing XI!

I don't think I have much hope left - not sure if I'm just suffering from Stockholm's Syndrome or what. This game has been a big part of my life for over 7 years, it's been my refuge when rl times have been tough, it's kept me sane when rl have been beyond troublesome, I have met so many awesome people from all over the world - I'm so SO sad to see it fall apart like this and turning into something I don't even recognize in comparison to how it used to be.

Seriously that's the update? Wait let me get this straight... We pay for an expansion that's not even complete. And now we are paying a few months subscription so they can complete what should have been done at release? Adding missions, Quests?? AF??

What happened to new 1 hours? How about give us some new skillchains? Fix REM? No wait... How about Fix moogle slip?? New spells? They gonna add more gear where the heck are we gonna put it!??

C'mon SE stop giving us crumbs and serve us the cookies already...wait ... Screw the cookies where's the cake???

This is not the summer I'd imagine it to turn out.

Sadly FFXI has taken a part of my life just like yours, it was a great way to escape while things were getting too overwhelming, but now it's just too frustrating. I can't keep playing this, there's no future here.

Well, maybe on the XXI Years of Vana'diel campaign, they'll give us the other stuff they've been promising then?

I feel the same, in a way I feel I should quit now before my view of the game is tainted any further. At least then I can have happy memories!

Incoming Update Details Vs. Roadmaps
I much prefer the update we just received over long roadmaps. The details outlined by Mr. Matsui indicate content that is ready or near-ready to go live. Roadmaps, while fun to read, I always had the impression were simply an indicator of potential plans on a loose timeline.

I also understand that timelines, priorities and a number of other factors cause plans to change or be delayed, and once that information is put out there the playerbase (myself included) is frustrated when something we were looking forward to doesn't get released, so I support the decision to do away with roadmaps at least ones associated with a timeline. I would love to see something replace it however. Something very general, like a "Here are some new content ideas we're thinking about, what are your thoughts?" It could be presented in a number of ways, some simple forum threads, or polls. I'd love to see concept art around these ideas before they get into actual development.

I understand if the development team doesn't feel comfortable sharing ideas with us at that stage, as part of the fun of the game, and any game, is playing it as envisioned by the designers. If we knew too many details beforehand it might take away some of the exploration and discovery aspects of it.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to the additions to Adoulin, and from what I've played of monstrosity on the test server, I absolutely cannot wait for that to make it into the actual game, because it's ridiculously fun!

On a less positive note, I too have noticed the average numbers of players on my server declining rapidly in recent weeks. Last night during peak NA hours, there were less than 900 people on.

Quetzalcoatl is pretty dead most of the time, I have left along with my remaining friends.
Server merges ready!
