View Full Version : Square Enix, PLEASE STOP apologizing to us. I Hope SE staff reads this...
All I need to say is, you DO NOT need to apologize to anyone for the situation that has played out in Japan. There is no need for apologies from you to us.
This insignificant game is NOTHING compared to the thousands upon thousands that are missing and or dead. This game means nothing when it comes to lives of REAL people. They don't get to home point and try again. I love this game, 11, 14, but it is Insignificant and of little importance when it comes to the real life situation in Japan. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE THIS GAME like no other.... over a year of play time.
So PLEASE Square Enix, STOP apologizing to us. There is no need for it. I'm happy to see that the servers will be back up this friday, but please just stop apologizing. We understand. I feel bad seeing you apologizing to us. It is us that should be apologizing to you for what has happened.
There are too many lives lost to this awful catastrophe. If this game didn't come back for 3 months, (I'll miss it if it does), we would understand. I wish that you guys would read this, because this game is of little importance when it comes to the lives of the Japanese people. So please stop apologizing for shutting down of the servers. I understand, we understand. I just pray that more people are found.
I wish that the lives of the thousands dead or missing could be brought back. I also wish there was more that we could do. FFXI, SE, POL, and more recently, FFXIV have all been part of our lives for a long time and nothing of this scale has ever happened. Especially mine, I have been around since Playstation 2 release and haven't left yet. You have never had shutdowns before. You have never let us down. And you are not letting us down now. I just hate seeing you apologizing to us for things out of your control. It is understandable, totally, 110%.
I just hope the best for you guys at Square Enix, the staff, your families. I'm sure more than just a few of you have been affected one way or the other by this Earthquake. I'm sure some of you guys have families in the majorly affected areas where the thousands are lost and or dead. There is nothing we can say to change anything. I am offering my condolences, my prayers, MY APOLOGIES to YOU ALL, SE and Japan alike. We are the ones that are sorry, there is no reason to keep apologizing to us.
And each update you have apologized to us. There aren't words to express our true feelings to the families of the lost and dead, to you guys at Square Enix, your families, your friends.
I just wish there was more that we could do to help out. I went out and bought games today from you guys that I haven't had the chance to buy yet. I've donated to the Red Cross, I've done as much as I can and I know thousands of others have done the same thing. But I really wish there was more we could do, besides throwing money at a bleeding wound.
I pray for you all every night....but there is no need to apologize. I know I speak for many when we say that this game has little importance compared to the lives lost.......

It's out of courtesy and professionalism for the apologies. It is not needed but the Japanese are very polite people as well. I'm sure they respect our patience and support just as we respect their citizens and what they need to do to get through the hardships of what is happening over there. Don't forget we are human first and everyone deserves respect whether you're going through good times or bad times. SE appreciates their fanbase just as the fanbase appreciates SE and its employees. The appreciation and understanding is mutual and no one who has the right mindset wants to see anyone go through hard times whether it be through experiencing a natural disaster or being bored/addicted and needing your gaming fix.
Of course our situation is not at all as bad as Japan's, but SE and the Japanese appreciate us just the same I'm sure.

What is this? Write a whole book in a thread day?
You know, all this support is losing it's meaning because there have been soooo many posts about it. They know we are supportive and they have thanked us for being so. We should just leave it at that I think.
Also...
This stupid game is Nothing compared to the thousands upon thousands that are missing and or dead. This game means nothing when it comes to lives of REAL people.
While it is true, it can be taken as an insult lol. They work rlly hard on this game, I'd hope that they know it does mean alot of the dedicated players.

You guys are horrible >.> yes I will troll this. This is saying something with meaning shut up and stop trolling . . . . If someone wants to write something from there heart and put it down then let them. Why do people gotta hate for something that is nice. . I would rather see 1000 threads like this then 39827458932 threads of your constant complaining.

It is an insult. Game developers tend to be passionate, and while it's easy to be self righteous to prove a point one must remember that FFXI and FFXIV matters to SE, too. They aren't going to care about them more than their families, but it is their lives nonetheless and I'm sure they consider it mighty important. Also people need to realize that when you are in the shoes of SE, it is not and will not ever be as simple as family and friends first, end of story. Like in the sense that they can just forget about their work for 3 months while things get back to normal. There are millions of dollars at stake, responsibilities that must be kept. They have investors to keep happy. That's life in big business. You can't afford the luxuries of smaller folk.
When they apologize, they are being nice. They are also following business 101.
Also...

You should quote the rest if you are going to quote part..."Don't get me wrong I love this game like no other, but it is of little to NO significance to the Thousands upon Thousands lost." Not exact words...but that is what I meant and it is true.
This game has no significance to the lives of REAL people.
And yes, a book, I like books. I just feel bad, I feel really bad for the people of Japan. The suffering that is going on over there. The millions that are homeless, let alone having electricity in a lot cities.
The Japanese are very polite people, but I feel REALLY REALLY bad seeing them apologizing to us for "The inconvenience that has been caused by the Earthquake".
Again not exact words, but I think we should be apologizing to them and telling them not to apologize to us for something they have no control over. I'd happily give up FFXI for 6 months if I had to, if it would help out even 1 Japanese person affected by this Catastrophe.
The game isn't stupid,, I love this game like no other, been playing since PS2 release and never been gone for more than a month at a time, but when you compare it to the REAL LIFE situation that has gone on over in Japan, it is stupid and of little significance. I'm sure the staff at SE has lost family...that is what I am getting at.
All I'm getting at is WE should be apologizing to them. Not them to us. I understand why they apologize, but I haven't seen many postings saying, "Don't apologize to us, we should be apologizing to you." And since we cannot post on the announcement threads, I wanted to make a thread apologizing to them telling them that we understand and that apologizing to us, while polite as it is, isn't needed. I'm the one who is sorry this happened.
Take all the time in the world, that is what I am saying. There is so much going on there...and I feel bad reading "We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the situation here in Japan". It breaks my heart reading that.
Well my point is made, even if I have to write a book.

man if i could of taken the time to read the whole thing I might have understood there was a point. But after reading to loong paragraphs of "stop apologizing" blah blah blah it was annoying. Why shouldn't they apologize? They have to run it from a business point of view also. Sure they do not always have to say sorry for everything but it is also how you show your respect to the dedication we have as clients.
Man and then another story to read. You need to find a publisher !!

I agree man. I love to actually see someone that still cares about the "people" at the end of the day.
I have a hard time believing a lot of people on here cause of their constant language & respect they show towards others. I will always 100% respect someone's opinion. Will never tell them there are wrong, stupid or anything. But also speak my opinion without trying to force it upon anyone.
You seem like a great guys Jeff & Een. I can say it is nice to see civilized people on here!

Wow......just wow. The business and investors card got played on me. Wow. I wrote this from the heart and I got this slapped in my face.
Instead of reading the first part, use some of your intellect and read the entire thing....it's more than SE, FFXI, 14, POL. It is the people of Japan.
I knew this would get taken off topic and I'd be slapped with the business side of things. My heart is broken over the entire situation.
But obviously all I said was "BLAH BLAH BLAH", and bored the shit out of some of you. My bad...don't like it, don't read it. Wasn't for you, it was to SE hoping that they would read it.
Maybe it's just me, but it has broke my heart and it makes it worse seeing them apologizing to us. But hey, like I said, Criticize me all you want to.

Its all good ^_^ this I hope the game Japanese see this too. This is a time to unite and become stronger.
There you go...re-read it. Insignificant instead of stupid....but anyone who would read the entire sentence instead of the first 5 lines would see what I was trying to say.....
And this post wasn't for you all...it was hope that someone in SE would read it and see that we understand, that they are in our hearts, prayers, thoughts.
While we miss the game, we feel bad for Japan...at least I do. As a whole, and SE is a whole with Japan. Part of. Could have been worse for them. SE's building could have been at the epicenter and completely got destroyed.
Would my words have more meaning then? Or am I just being a dick for saying how insignificant this game is to the lives of the thousands and thousands of the lost/dead. And I'm sure a lot of SE's staff has family involved in the dead/lost.

Turns into a collectible Troll plush doll D:< I will track you down!
I just did this because there should be MORE people apologizing to them. Telling them, while it is courteous, that their apologies to us for the game being down, really isn't needed. It is professional courtesy, but we should be making more and more threads apologizing to them. Not more threads about "What are you gonna do for the next 70 hours?"
And sad thing is, instead of "Our condolences to you SE and Japan" there will be more and more threads about, "60 hours to go, 48 hours to go, 12 hours to go, 2 hours to go."
I feel like a total fool sitting here in my nice lit up house, electricity all day and night, my computer and internet running, while there are some people over there that don't even have a place to lay their heads down. I think about that and it breaks my heart.
As said before, I just wish more people would post something like this.
And, if my 'book' bothers you, don't read it? Obviously you don't feel the same. But if this happened to you..I'd feel the same for you. And if you posted to me online on a forum, saying that 'You are sorry that your business isn't up and running because of a catastrophe and you weren't capable of offering your services to me and apologized for it', I would offer my condolences to you and try to express how you need not apologize to me... I'd pray for you, I'd keep you in my thoughts, and it probably would break my heart the same way.
I felt the same when Haiti got hit. I pledged money to them and over the summer last year, I went to Haiti instead of going to California for Vacation so I could help them out with Tourism. And man o man was there a lot of Americans there. Working, vacationing which helps with total revenue...And more than likely, I will go to Japan on my next Vacation this summer, for the first time. Even if my contributions are minor.
But maybe I wrote so much because there aren't words to express how I feel about what has happened, and is still happening to the thousands upon thousands of people over there.
But even donating, I just feel like I'm throwing money at a bleeding wound.
You are all entitled to your opinion about what I had to say. Funny tho, that I got criticized for something that I have ALWAYS been really good at. Writing and expressing how I feel. lol
But here you go, another book. Criticize away. And I'm not talking to everyone. There are a few of you there that understand. I appreciate it. ;)

yes your point is truthful. There are to many repetitive threads & just plain useless ones. A countdown thread is pointless, we all know when the servers will be back & do not need 20 people making their own to inform us of this.
The threads I enjoy are one's like this, The one with updates of Japan's current situation & ones that address actual game related changes, suggestions or problems.
Damn, I'm almost sorry I wrote this now.

Dozens of threads you could have posted this in. Feel what you want but making new threads that don't need to be made undermines the purpose of this forum by pushing threads that the devs might actually need to see onto the 23rd page. This is absolutely rampant and just keeps getting worse. If people don't have a new thought find one of the 15 other threads devoted to that thought and post there. Sorry to single you out but this is one of the most superfluous threads yet.

I know in America when someone passes away it's common to say "I'm sorry", but SE is a Japanese company, and Japanese don't really say things like that.

Dear OP;
Apologies are a matter of proceedure. Whenever you unintentionally inconvenience your customers, regardless of the reason, you generally issue an apology. I know what you're trying to say, that they should be more concerned about other things, but they, like everyone else, would just like to return some sense of normalcy to their lives as soon as is reasonably possible.
Hanabira

for every person like the OP who feels that way, there is another person who are like "i pay for the service, i EXPECT it to be on, bow down to me!" then there is everyone else like me who are like, sh** is situational, it'l be on when they are ready. because i mean really we all stand up and say what they SHOULD do, but who knows SE's servers better than SE? if it were possible we would be crowded around a ??? right now trying to pop a NM

I think the issue had more to do with expecting people to apologize for something they didn't do.
That being said, it's not unreasonable to expect a service someone has paid for to be delivered, but to SE's credit they are making April free, so that concern has been...guess i'll use the word - alleviated.
Also - you can express sympathy for something that happened without actually apologizing - which would imply you did something wrong to be sorry for. We had absolutely nothing to do with that earthquake, and writing a post berating us because we aren't saying we are sorry for something we had no control over is misplaced moral grandstanding at best.
Again - it's probably just semantics, but really the post was sort of silly i think :)
I'm sure they are genuinely sorry for having to take the servers down.
This thread is stupid. If you don't like their apologies then don't read them.

Oh geez...i was with ya till this.
So...your the victim now? Puh-lease.
Someone saying that the game means alot to the SE staff and that they are being polite in their apologies constitutes a slap in the face to you? How exactly?
Could have send an email or letter to the staff without the "look-at-me i care" topic on forum...I'm sure they would have appreciatted it equally.
