View Full Version : Question concerning a possible solution to Assault/Einherjar

I've been looking around and have tried to get some assault missions out of the way (Project: Tizona) but I can never get people to help me out. Not only that, but if I'm lucky to get 1 person, they usually back out before I get my 3rd. I know it's a requirement to go in with 3 people or more in Assault, but is there any chance that it could get lowered to 2 people minimum? About to beat my head against the wall here and I'm sure others have been the same way.

A billion other threads, a billion other attempts, the answer is always a big emphatic "NO!". There (oddly) just isn't enough bitching/reasoning to get this one passed.
Dropping entry requirements would be the single greatest thing ever done (after removing level caps on things). So it's possible, but unlikely, there just isn't a big enough uproar (yet) since the only thing that matters right now is DELVE and ONLY DELVE.
Most of the people that would come on here and like/argue for this, have been banned from doing so... and no one new is joining...
But I extend to you my like, for what it's worth~

That's the problem, everyone is doing delve and the people who want to go down different paths ingame aren't going to be able. This isn't about making things easy, it's about making it fair to people who actually want to explore old content instead of wasting their money with delve delve delve and oh more delve.
I personally won't touch delve, I'd rather play in older areas where at least things are fun (In my opinion) instead of "Bring your endgame stuff or no go."

My personal opinion (And please hate on it) is that if people want to explore old content, they should be able to. They bought the damn expansions, but they can't explore because there's a minimum on present members. Most people can literally solo an Assault run, so what's the point in forcing them to ask people that they don't know (Or linkshell members who don't want to go in the first place until the person wanting to go has to beg and beg.).
I can pretty much counter anything anyone has to say about my attitude towards SoA, because personally I'm too casual of a player to waste my time with repetitive plasm grinds and reives (SP), and would rather explore everything FFXI has to offer instead of one expansion that from what I've seen is nothing more than a Mongolian Clusterf--k.

I couldn't agree more. I'd like the limit removed, but even if it's reduced to two it would help considerably. If they removed the level caps in COP so more people could enjoy the storyline, I don't understand why they wouldn't make changes to make these more enjoyable.

If they removed the level caps in COP so more people could enjoy the storyline, I don't understand why they wouldn't make changes to make these more enjoyable.Because the problems are different. CoP needed a large party of people to do it in normal areas, Assault needs only 3 people, Einherjar 6, but both are not normal areas, instead instanced areas which you can not enter when another party is present inside. The reason SE always gives for not doing this is because the day they would do it 500 people would swarm Assault and spam it so much that the congestion would be unbearable, as though so many people on any server are really making Mythics, especially now.
Do not get me wrong, I think the limit it stupid, but they have reasons of which are not comparable to CoP really, it would be more accurate to point out you can enter Limbus solo with no problems, yet Assault requires 3 people minimum.

The Development Bros have this weird idea that reducing the entry requirement for Assaults to 2 folks would cause nightmarish congestion. No, seriously. Really. Truly.
I like to think that similar anti-congestion measures hold sway over their office bathroom and have caused somebody to poop his or her pants while waiting on one person to leave a four stall and two urinal facility, because applying such measures to Assaults as of 2013 has no basis in reality and I wish a moderate amount of ill on whoever refuses to change the entry requirements.

Einherjar should be lowered as getting 4-5 players to help you or afk inside is near impossible but assault isnt really an issue as with your alt you would only need to shout for one person anyway.

Hmmm.
Let us look back to some of the responses of old:
While we definitely understand your request for more Assault tags, increasing the amount of tags you can have at your disposal is not such an easy thing to do. The main reason is because of the congestion it will create in instanced areas once the revamps to Nyzul and Salvage take place. Apologies for any inconveniences.
OK, it has been a while since Nyzul II as well as Salvage II, both of which now (due to Adoulin) have more or less lost their charm. They certainly do have their things people still want, but most of those who were flocking around there before, are now of course inspecting the menace(s).
We are aware that with the current level of difficulty, it is possible to clear things with less than three people. However, we do not have plans of changing it so that you can solo/duo this content due to the fact that the "cost" of Assault-related content is 3 tags. Therefore, the rewards, and other aspects, are balanced for the "cost" of 3 people or more entering.
We'd probably have to go back quite a bit to make any of the so called “rewards” to be wanted at all. Even I never really wanted anything from there, and I'm a horrible Hoarding Collector of Stuff.
Aside from completion, the only other thing I see are them points for Remants permit. Lowering the gain on those would probably be pointless in terms of balance even if the cost of tags were lowered. I have yet to run out while doing Salvage, and I went through each mission only once. I still have around 10-20k points in each area (some missions I have repeated while helping others through).
Granted, I've not done tons of it in hopes of Alexandrite, but to collect the armour of old as well as new.
It's quite sad to see people still having issues with simply getting the missions completed that one time. I don't see why the reward that is completion should be denied from anyone so easily. It's probably the only reward for many, if not most of those who are facing this issue.
I guess I can't dismiss the possibility of people working on mythics having a bit of an issue with this as well since I can easily see people not helping with content they could not care less about, especially considering the amount of time it takes.
With that said, I don't quite see the balance since mythics for example are rewards of one character only and once others are done with the content, they often have no reason to go back unless they want to have fun with their friend(s). They are very likely to be wanting to do something else, though, so perhaps it's time to adjust the content towards the soloists, finally.
How are the 2 others rewarded, who are not bonkers enough to work on a mythic? Sure, the player could pay them, but that's definitely not right. The content and its rewards are balanced towards 3 or more 'tags', but where are they now?
It would be fun to see if it would actually cause some congestion. I can definitely see more people running there with their multiple characters at different times. Even I might do that, and I'm really lazy most of the time.
I guess they might need to lower the drop-rate on Alexandrite if they did that! ^^;
But yeah. I'm pretty much just rambling about obvious things here, so for closing, I'll just go with that I think at least the Assault missions could definitely use some changes to at least allow people to more easily complete that content (at least that one time ! !! !).
For Einherjar, I'd be happy if it was lowered to 3 even! I wouldn't probably mind 1 or 2, as I could already do it with 3. Not with 6, however!

It is possible to do them solo by having 2 others force DC after the party size is confirmed. They can't zone while disconnected, so they stay at the entrance without having consumed an assault tag, and they can simply go on with sitting around waiting for a delve shout. (Whitegate receives yells too, I noticed.)

It is possible to do them solo by having 2 others force DC after the party size is confirmed. This exact thing is probably the largest reason for complaints in general anyways, its possible to solo them as we already know but we should not need to use such stupid measures to do so, it should be a normal possible feature to everyone interested. The fact we have to take such a roundabout way is stupid, and the fact SE does not see this, and does not understand the fact we do this for that reason is sad, their excuses could still be understood in this way sadly as the amount of people with friends to do this are still limited, not to a small amount of people, but it surly lowers congestion at least a little bit, as though that were a real issue.
